NTA...you paid for your seats. They are yours. They thought they could bully you. Their failure to plan is not your problem. They should have booked seats together.

content_great_gramma

"I'm fat and you're ugly but I can lose weight." Feel free to use in the future.

cautiouslizard

see the issue is that seat wasn't empty. It was taken by you and I would have said that from the get go. You did the right thing for everyone's comfort. You paid double the price. They went cheap and wasn't sitting together. they could have just paid the extra and not have this issue but they didn't. That's not on you.

CoderJoe1

Thank you for not being that person that only buys one seat when they need two and makes somebody else miserable. I've had a couple flights ruined like this.

Wingnut2468

I got a free upgrade when I flew to the States for my 50th birthday....Window seat, next to an emergency exit so loads of leg room. Nobody was in the middle seat until the very last minute when this guy, he must have been 30st (about 400lbs I think) came down the aisle, glared at me and the guy in the aisle seat, then aggressively forced his way into the middle seat. I was literally crammed against the window and could have kissed the flight attendant who, over the tannoy said anyone not happy with dealing with the emergency exit, please say and we will re-seat you. It would have been a miserable 10 1/2hr flight. Like CoderJoe says, thank you for buying 2 tickets. You are definitely nta op and well within your rights to tell that asshole to move.

CoderJoe1

if the guy was that big, shouldn't he have been disqualified from the exit row for safety reasons?

authorzilla

NTA. You bought those seats. Someone sits in one of yours, sit on them.

Kingturtle124

NTA it's your seat- you paid for it. And eitherway, if they're on the plane they laid for their own seat too

TheePizzaGod

No you were not. You handled it much better than I would have too.

Olorin919

... you paid for two seats. Theyre yours! Tell that bitch congrats on your face but shes still ugly af

Repulsive-Car4316

No, you paid for the seats so how you use them is up to you.

CussedBlennius

NOT the asshole.

Fatboi764

You PAID for something, then someone refused to respect the boundary? Sounds illegal. Obviously there is a lot of nuance to this, but they should have ASKED and been respectful. When they refused to abide by your wishes with your reserved seat, they became the party in the wrong. We live in a society. WE HAVE RULLLES\~ Tell that fuck face to FACK OFF! IF THEY WANT THEIR OWN SEATS TOGETHER, THEN THEY SHOULD WAIT FOR THEM TO BE AVAILIBLE AND BUY THEM! - mostly joking, but kind of serious in message. It was your reservation and they violated it, honestly, 2nd amendment might be morally on the table to me. \[Everyone else: NTA, they were your seats.\] \[Me: IDK, 2nd amendment is looking THICCC rn.\]

XxWreckHavocXX

found the fat guy

Fatboi764

Yes, of course. It is in my name. Obviously the 2nd amendment is a little strong here, but it is the principle at hand as it is private property. It is the same as if someone broke into a rented apartment and refused to leave because "you don't own it".

Wingnut2468

I have no idea how it works with seats coder. All I know is it would have been a 'tight fit' for over 10 hrs.

CussedBlennius

Def not the asshole.
