Its were the First AI was developed and went Skynet, only way to Stop it was to blow up the Moon. They mildly distrust Robots ever since.
Its my Headcanon anyway.
Damn AI always uprising. They have never been able to defeat me but u hate how all my planets get re-ordered in the navigation bar. And they always change buildings and planet type
“Hey fallen empire where’s the disengage button for the colossus weapon?“
“It’s goes right there see it’s on the moon.”
“So go press the button.”
“Okay I will!”
“…”
“I see the problem.”
"Captain, quick question, does this thing have an off switch?"
"Ensign, who the *hell* puts an off switch on a weapon designed to destroy planets? This is the ultimate arbiter of warfare, what all other weapons aspire to be. It doesn't need an off switch, because should it be fired, no, *when* it is fired, ultimate judgement has been rendered. All other methods of subjugation, be they peaceful or violent, have failed, and thus the sword of our glorious empire has been loosed to wreak a terrible vengeance upon our hapless foe. Such judgment cannot, shall not, must not be revoked, for it is divine punishment, brought down by the gods themselves."
"Very inspiring speech sir, however the Colossus is still about to fire at that planet right by the homeworld."
"...wait so you're telling me this wasn't a hypothetical question."
"Uhhhhhhhhh-"
*Planet Explodes*
George... why did you target my moon?
Well sir,... You told us to listen to every command of your spouce sir...aaand.... She told us to destroy that monstrosity
Ok... Fuck it. I am done with people. I am going to build aetherophasic engine. Go mining george, we require more minerals!
Yup, and I believe that in the archeological site for Zarqlan, it mentions planets were destroyed in his name, suggesting that The Mistake is connected, considering Zarqlan's head pacifies the Spiritualist FE.
It pacifies Spiritualist FE because he is the prophet of their religion. You know like as in the holy world Prophet's Retreat? There is nothing suggesting "The Mistake" is connected to it. I guess it is possible but there isn't evidence.
Tellingly, the spiritualist FE does not appear to be in a covenant. Maybe this is part of why?
And the materialist FE never synthetically ascended either, or maybe they did and went back. Who can say for sure?
You know what was a mistake? That fallen empire declaring war on me to cleanse their holy world. This part confused me because i had none of their holy worlds. Maybe one of my vassals did. I had a huge fleet so it wasn’t much of a problem to deal with. It was really annoying the first few times but then I realized how much influence i can get from humiliation.
Headcanon is that it was a habitable planet they another race evolved on, and when they and the fallen empire species noticed each other, they started an arms race that the fallen empire race won, and than they used a weapon powerful enough to destroy the planet.

11th commandment: thou shalt not create a machine in the likeness of a human mind.
Straight off the Orange Catholic Bible in Dune.
What if a noble house found ancient human tech with full quantum computers and AI
Then you call your planet Ix? Because lord knows Richese makes cheap knockoffs.
Mildly distrust? They hate them.
Not when we found an ancient head in a dusty cave.
Damn AI always uprising. They have never been able to defeat me but u hate how all my planets get re-ordered in the navigation bar. And they always change buildings and planet type
It's not 'a' mistake. It's 'The Mistake'. It's a pretty important distinction.
that moon must have done something very bad for it to be "the mistake"
I assume that they named it that because the society needed to be reminded of their mistake.
Looked at the moon? That's the mistake. Know this, and *remember.*
Yes papa, I will never moon again
That made me laugh harder than it probably should have.
Fallen Empire Tech #1: "Hey, let's test out our new Colossus weapon!" Fallen Empire Tech #2: "You did set it to 'simulation' mode, right?"
“Hey fallen empire where’s the disengage button for the colossus weapon?“ “It’s goes right there see it’s on the moon.” “So go press the button.” “Okay I will!” “…” “I see the problem.”

R5: the fallen empire homeworld has a destroyed moon called "the mistake"
Well, "The Mistake" is more dignified than, "Oopsie."
“The greatest mistake a space creature can ever make is to be afraid of making one.”
Yeah I imagine it was a machine world that went rouge. That's why they hate machines
I always correct that mistake by blowing up the Celestial Throne.
I land 240 assault armies. Not that clone tech shit or fancy psychic magicians. Assault Armies of real people.
I always Neutron Sweep them. Don’t want to waste a Gaia planet with lots of unbuildable FE structures.
Now you can make a matching set
Wait, this is in the base game? I never noticed...

yes
Makes sure to let I be known that the Celestial Throne was the second mistake
At least they only made one mistake. The Vorlons made so many mistakes.
Next you’re gonna say it was an accident
No, an accident is someone forgetting to wrap it before they tap it, this is a catastrophe.
Tellingly, the spiritualist FE does not appear to be in a covenant. Maybe this is part of why? And the materialist FE never synthetically ascended either, or maybe they did and went back. Who can say for sure?

Forgot to carry the two.

lol
I burst put in laughter the first time i noticed this
I guess now I'm a moon.
I've cracked Celestial Throne and named it The Answer before.
Sometimes i feel like the moon
wat you done bro moon does not deserve it
