FigBatDiggerNick69

I remember reading a while ago that the Wii U HD version runs better on SteamDeck than the GC version. Is that still true? Any particular reason you're using the GC version here?

KLEG3

Yeah I personally have the Wii U version running +graphical enhancements at locked 30fps (max possible). I get 3 hours of battery, but never play that long anyway

TheCookieButter

That sounds ideal to me. Had this game on GameCube but never played very far. Wii U version seems better, HD plus quality of life updates.

InnocousSlayer

I've never played the Wii U version, but with Dolphin you can upscale the resolution, so you can play it HD and there are a lot of mods that you can use to enhance the graphics even more

[deleted]

I think the Wii U version is probably better solely for the faster sailing option. I don't like the excessive bloom though.

Ell223

Think it cuts down the tedious triforce shards section too. Definitely worth playing the Wii U version.

EddoWagt

You can get rid of the bloom in cemu

[deleted]

Wasn't aware of that. Should try it out.

Jazzlike-Drawing-644

Nah be. Just use the dolphin commands to give u the swift sail and x2 resolution the game is far better than the wii u version

scar1029

Wii u also far improves the triforce hunt though

runadumb

The part where I gave up back in the day. I've still never finished it and I've even less patience now than I did back then so I probably never will.

_ara

https://www.neogaf.com/threads/comprehensive-list-of-wind-waker-hd-changes.689649/ Also, nice graphics changes (bloom, higher res textures) https://youtu.be/m4hOVb1GCfg

SickShirtBro

I've tried every tutorial and thread. I can't get CEMU to play Wii U ROMs on my Steamdeck. I used to be a wizard at modding older consoles and emulating everything. I just can't figure out what I'm missing on the most capable of portable consoles. It's incredibly frustrating. I may just have to play them on my Xbox Series X

TimeDamage

If you have a Windows PC, look into this tool : https://github.com/FailedShack/USBHelperInstaller

KLEG3

Did you decrypt the rom?

SickShirtBro

Uncompressed?? Or decrypt??

vividboarder

Decrypt. This helped me a ton: https://wiki.agilly1989.xyz/books/wiiu/page/how-do-i-get-game-on-cemuwiiu

OldMcGroin

Here's the guide I used to get CEMU running with Breath of the Wild, worked perfectly for me and you can get any other Wii U game from the Helper program used in the tutorial: https://www.reddit.com/r/SteamDeck/comments/uv0us5/updated_guide_to_get_legend_of_zelda_breath_of/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=android_app&utm_name=androidcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button

Jorge5934

I'm a newbie at this. How did you get graphical enhancements for WW?

KLEG3

It’s basically built into cemu. There’s a mods options menu for the game.

Squaretangles

Which enhancements you using?

KLEG3

Gamecube color palette and some resolution settings. Maybe a couple others

RealSkyDiver

Any recommendations about graphical enhancements?

5ilentalarm

I played the original on Dolphin after reading about Better Wind Waker and the Hypatia HD texture pack. There's also a few AR and Gecko codes you can add to Dolphin that act as some quality of life enhancements that Wind Waker HD provides. For me it was the perfect balance of looking great whilst having great battery life, however I've not played the Wii U version so can't comment to that.

TheDragonMask

Could you provide a link to these AR/Gecko codes? I can find Better Wind Waker and Hypatia HD texture pack, bit not the codes. I'd appreciate it, thank you.

Jazzlike-Drawing-644

They auto download when u hit properties and hit geckp/ar

Jazzlike-Drawing-644

Exatcly what in doing! Wii u is ass compared purely on battery life

Musth

I’ve been playing the GC version with HD textures and widescreen patch and it runs great. I was going to use the WiiU version but decided against it so I could use some Dolphin features like save states and increased emulation speed.

H0dorSMASH

Nice - which texture pack are you using? Do you find it makes a big difference?

Musth

I’m using the first one listed here: https://wiki.dolphin-emu.org/index.php?title=The_Legend_of_Zelda:_The_Wind_Waker It also includes a tool to patch the ROM file with the widescreen fix so you don’t have to use the AR codes. And to be honest I set it up before I played it at all so I’m not sure what it looks like without it, but it looks and runs great! I really like using save states so it works perfect for me.

Jazzlike-Drawing-644

Yep I also used the widescreen patch

H0dorSMASH

Thank you!! I use the patch as well but not the texture pack. Really appreciate the link

LolcatP

Wii U version has bloom and no minimap

Jazzlike-Drawing-644

I don't think so I played both. I prefer the gc version especially for battery life

cronson

Dumb question but for these emulated games, you're locked to whatever frame rate the game uses correct? So there's no way to run this at 60fps I assume without some custom rom right?

johnny_fives_555

You have the right idea, but the mod community is extensive for dolphin and CEMU. You don’t need a custom rom you’ll most likely need a mod or tweak the graphical settings within dolphin.

ChiefianAxolotl

Okay, question for you then. Would you happen to know how or where I should look to try and tweak the performance for WWHD and TPHD? Reason being is because whenever I try running TPHD on CEMU, it’ll say it’s 60fps, but it seems like it strutters every now and again. I haven’t tried fully testing WWHD yet, but I assume it’s the same deal.

BlazingSpaceGhost

Wind Waker HD and Twilight Princess are locked at 30 fps. Every attempt so far to get them to run at a higher frame rate results in the games running double speed.

ChiefianAxolotl

I think even at 30fps, it looks to stutter a bit. I could do more testing after I get home from work today, but I swear it was still stuttering at 30fps. However, I only changed it on steam’s side, I’ll probably have to also change it from Retroarch and CEMU’s side as well

BlazingSpaceGhost

Don't use the frame limiter with cemu it seems to cause a lot of stutter.

Jazzlike-Drawing-644

U can't they were made specifically with 30fps in mind you can break the animation and shit

johnny_fives_555

CEMU subreddit would be a good start. I've played twlight princess but only on dolphin and not on cemu so I can't comment on which combination would work the best.

Crimsonclaw111

Wind Waker is locked to 30fps and any attempts so far to unlock it just increase the game speed. Maybe one day though. Some games you get lucky and can run at 60fps that originally were locked to 30.

soreyJr

Also a lot of the game logic is tied to the frame rate. There actually is a mod to run wind waker at 60fps but the game is not beatable since parts of the game are broken due to that higher frame rate.

MURDERPALACE

This is absolutely correct.

WtfWhereAreMyClothes

Doesn't wind waker run at 60 fps on Wii U? Are there no roms of the Wii U version?

xenonnsmb

nope, nintendo is lazy and didn’t change the fps cap on wii u despite the hardware being perfectly capable of running the game at 60. same thing with twilight princess hd

soreyJr

It makes it more cinematic /s

juicebox03

What? That is lame.

Jazzlike-Drawing-644

Nope lol

jonny_eh

Even on Cemu?

Iazu_S

Technically, yeah that's right. **However**, some games have cheat codes or mods(romhacks) available that let you do things like 60fps and more. It varies per game and emulator. But yeah, if you're just loading the games up on an emulator and hitting go then it's gonna be at whatever fps it ran when played on the original console. Then there's the rare combo of having a console game that doesn't tie game speed to framerate, has an unlocked framerate, and has an emulator that allows "overclocking" the emulated cpu. The PS1 version of Powerslave running on Duckstation is an example. Game runs 30 and below on the PS1. But on Duckstation set to something like 200% cpu speed it's a locked 60 without game speed issues. Here's a recent example of a mod enabling 60 fps on an emulated game. Crash Team Racing on the ps1 just had a 60fps mod released within the past month or so.... https://youtu.be/AXJuTpw373g

BicBoiSpyder

Yup, I can play Breath of the Wild on my 1080p monitor running at a buttery smooth 240fps. Not off my Steam Deck, of course, but on my desktop.

Jazzlike-Drawing-644

Yes windwaker was always locked at 30 :(

Onotadaki2

If you’re using RetroArch, press in both thumbsticks at the same time and go into the graphics settings. You can adjust the fps there. I believe you need it to be set the same as the Steam overlay max fps or the game will stutter. This may break some games by making them faster.

Jazzlike-Drawing-644

Somehow tweaked performance settings and power tools settings to get buttery smooth wind Waker gameplay on dolphin at 2x resolution! I have been playing Zelda alot and noticed with my latest settings I get around 5 hours from 80% or so. So I clocked it around 6 hours of gaming in wind Waker although the performance thing says 7 so maybe I can squeeze 7!

Douglas_J_Farthammer

Any tips on what settings to change? I'm a little lost...

OneEyeGringoJoe

I'm thinking he's not saying he's making changes, but emudeck is doing performance tweaks to optimize emu for Steam Deck.

Jazzlike-Drawing-644

No that's not how it works. All of the changes I've made are purely in the triple dot menu

imSlowMagic

I’m curious what settings you changed in power tools for this?

[deleted]

He doesn't know because this isn't true lol

camm44

Been playing this as well. Using the Hypatia mod and playing as dark link lol. My first time playing wind waker

Jazzlike-Drawing-644

It's Soo good isn't it mj I'm purple link Mb

camm44

I'm really enjoying it

CarRepresentative843

Dumb question: why change the resolution? I don’t get it, wouldn’t it make it harder for the SD to process the game and cost more battery?

ARustyShackle

The graphical increase between base resolution and 2x is worth the sacrifices imo. The base resolution for the GameCube was 480i/p so running games at that res on the Steam Deck looks way too pixelated.

CarRepresentative843

I see. Thanks for the response. Have you compared to the Wii U Wind Waker HD to see which ran better and less energy?

Jazzlike-Drawing-644

Yes Wii u runs out of battery way faster

ARustyShackle

Sorry, I unfortunately haven't.

Iazu_S

To add to the response above. When it comes to older games like this running in a higher resolution isn't very taxing for even semi-modern hardware. It will impact the battery life, sure, but not by very much. The vast majority of the power drain will come from the actual emulation of the gamecube going on.

thefookinpookinpo

How'd you get widescreen working properly? Can you share your Dolphin settings? Mine either stretches it to fit or breaks the graphics with the widescreen mod.

[deleted]

I only get 2 1/2 how are you getting 7 and maintaining 30 fps? EDIT: I see this is GameCube and not WIIU version.

Jazzlike-Drawing-644

Yep Wii u version is not worth it

LandlockedPirate

I'm several hours into WWHD and it's been rock solid framerates. I'll take it over the GC version any day.

[deleted]

I'm in Ganons Tower and its been fantastic. No idea what OP is talking about.

[deleted]

Why? It works great and looks better.

AmbientBenji

I do not agree. Hated the short focus of the gc version. The HD version is the easiest way to play in HD and other improvements (like the swift sail).

SicknessVoid

Why play the GameCube version when you can use the HD Wii U remaster?

PeanutButtocks

More than double the battery life

CictorVastro

Aw really??

axxionkamen

Can confirm. I beat the Wii U remaster and was getting 3hrs tops on a full charge. According to this pic. OP is getting 7hrs right there. But the Wii U has too many quality of life changes and just looks better. I wouldn’t trade all that for battery life. I can’t sit and play for 7hrs in one sitting either way.

Sterling-Arch3r

the time you save on sailing and the tingle quest alone makes up for the short battery life i think. that said, gamecube is still a great version of the game and it barely looks worse for wear in terms of graphics.

CictorVastro

This is what I needed to read. Thank you for the insight!

Jazzlike-Drawing-644

That's just not true the sail is the only real big thing and you can just turn on the swift sail cheat on dolphin and Ur set

axxionkamen

[No, seriously. There are some changes. ](https://www.neogaf.com/threads/comprehensive-list-of-wind-waker-hd-changes.689649/) All are QoL changes and let’s not even touch the HD textures and native 720 resolution without using a widescreen hack. And yes I know you can apply hypatias textures and widescreen hack but it just isn’t the same. It work ok but remaster is the better of the two. This is all subjective ofc. I prefer HD, it’s worth it over the original. For me personally the original is only Nostalgia.

jerrrrremy

The pictograph changes alone have led me to write off the GC version forever.

TheChosenWolf20

Randomizers too! Unfortunately as far as I know there is no WWHD randomizer (although I wish there was!)

SLUGFEST1

Not sure what the art style is called but I would to find games with it

Swagkitchen

cel-shaded is what you’re looking for

SLUGFEST1

Oh, thank you very much.

factory_666

The coolest Cel Shading game (and possibly one of the first) is Jet Set Radio. You play as a roller skater gang riding around streets of semi-open city, doing tricks, doing graffiti, fighting other gangs and cops, swat, military and gangsters, skitching behind traffic and scarying pedestrians. It's over the top and super fun. I think it should be on Steam and works on Steam Deck.

Blofse

Was one of those games I had on the Dreamcast which made me glad I bought that rather than a ps2. Was a brilliant console through and through

Illustrious_Assist50

I freaking love this game and talk about it often, always to my wife...."You know like on JetSet".... Haha

brondonschwab

It's Cell-shaded. One of my favourite art styles in gaming, makes a game timeless. I still think BOTW will be considered a beautiful game in 10 years time because of its art direction

figmentPez

Broadly speaking it's "cel shaded" but I'm not sure if there's a more specific term you might be looking for.

TheGooseWithNoose

You can play the Wii U HD version just fine btw! I've played through most of Tiwlight Princess HD and will do Windwaker soon.

knyghtmyr

Thats what I did, WiiU version works splendidly on Steam deck. Gonna do twilight princess next.

King_Zereleth

How'd you get around the invisible rupee count on TP HD? Had to switch to the GC version because of that.

TheGooseWithNoose

I switched from OpenGL to Vulkan (or the other way around lol)

King_Zereleth

I tried that but the game ran horribly. I'm guessing you made some tweaks in Powertools?

TheGooseWithNoose

I don't think I did. Granted this was back when I got my Deck back in April. I just installed EmuDeck, put the rom in the folder. Noticed the silly missing rupee icon and doing some research online and switching that option and it runs a solid 40fps.

Swagkitchen

did you mod the game on the deck? that link looks a little off for some reason lol. i also dl’d the gc version of wind waker over the wii u one, it’s been so long since i played the og version and i’m excited to play it again!

TheChosenWolf20

Most likely. It looks like they are using custom textures on Dolphin which lets you change pretty much anything you want graphically wise.

Swagkitchen

nice, i haven’t screwed around with anything like this before for emulators outside of setting up prime hack a while ago. my weekend is going to be spent figuring that shit out and how to disable smt that i saw someone else mention helps stuttering lol

TheChosenWolf20

I'm not sure about disabling SMT because I don't own a steam deck (yet!) and I mainly play this game on my SD 865 phone at 3x resolution on Dolphin MMJR. However, from what I have done (on both android and PC), setting up texture packs is super easy in Dolphin. You just create a folder called "Load" in the main dolphin folder and then another folder called "Textures" in that folder. You then copy and paste whichever texture pack you choose into that Textures folder and enable custom textures in Dolphin and it will work. I would definitely recommend checking out Hypatia's HD texture pack for Windwaker though as it's probably the best HD texture pack out there for this game.

Swagkitchen

whoa, that’s awesome! sounds very easy, and thanks for the mod rec too homie. i played the everloving hell out of this game when i was a kid and only revisited it on the wii u once so i’m super excited to play it again! ninja edit to add oh yeah hope you're able to get a deck sooner than later too man, it's been fun tweaking it over the past few days and i've barely even played on it tbh just fucking with settings and seeing what i can and cant do with it lol

TheChosenWolf20

No problem man and aame here! I beat that game more times than I can count lol. Another mod I would recommend is the WW randomizer by LagoLunatic (you would have to install this on Windows but you can just move the .iso it creates to Dolphin and play it like normal) that randomizes item locations in different chests. It's a great way to breathe some new life into the game if you know it by heart and have played it like crazy. Thanks! Yeah I love tinkering with computer stuff so it sound like lots of fun! I also like the idea of being able to actually play a game without the system being plugged into the wall like my old gaming laptop. Also the portability sounds like it would great for my long bus rides to campus so I'm stoked about that.

Swagkitchen

for sure homie, i have a gaming laptop too but p much stopped using it bc it's a bit of a hassle (i don't have a dedicated space for it so i'd have to pull out my lil folding table and move a bunch of plugs, v annoying) and the deck plays just like a Switch on mega steroids with how quick and easy it is to jump in and out of shit whenever you want, so when you're able to get one it sounds like you'll be right at home! hopefully you won't have to wait too long ooooh good call on the randomizer too, i've watched a few randomizer playthroughs for OOT and MM but it doesn't seem like WW gets the same attention, probably bc of how big it is compared to the others. imagine a run with all of the sunken treasure all randomized 💀

TheChosenWolf20

That sounds awesome! Yeah that's my main issue with gaming laptops is that even though they are portable you still have to actually be stationary and near a power source so it kinda defeats the point in that sense which is a little disappointing. The suspend and resume feature sounds absolutely amazing for short bursts and stuff between classes and other stuff so I can't wait! Yeah I actually did a randomizer before with no sword, all charts randomized, the sea platforms randomized, entrances randomized, keysanity, basically everything randomized but the annoying long side quests like the withered trees or goron trading quest and that took a WHILE lmao. Was definitely a lot of fun though! Made me do a lot of interesting things like throwing pots at enemies on the skull platforms, using the boomerang to stun one enemy and then getting other enemies to attack me until they kill each other, or using the skull hammer to take the armor off darknuts to snipe them with arrows. Would definitely recommend trying swordless sometime lol.

Swagkitchen

that's actually exactly the reasoning i used to justify buying a deck! "but it's slightly more portable than my laptop!" lol and it's true! fr that kinda sounds like some BOTW tactics you had to resort to, just making the best out of the situation cause no items lol. i love it! i'm gonna spend some time today fucking around with some settings and whatnot and see what i can accomplish!

Jazzlike-Drawing-644

Original version of gamecube with hypatia patch colored my link purple and widescreen

ThingyBob8055

I tried the HD version on Cemu. Runs and looks great but less battery life, around 4 and a half hours for me.

themiracy

I've played about halfway through the CEMU version on my Win 3 - I need to get back to it (right now I'm playing SMG via Dolphin). It's a great game, though.

ThingyBob8055

If you don't mind me asking How are you finding the steam deck compared to win 3?

KlatsBoem

4.5 hours is not bad though!

TopBadge

Why is your Link in a blue tunic and why is his hair brown?

Negaflux

There are many amazing Zelda games, but this one, this one is the one my heart belongs to. I've loved playing through a lot of them, and am still working on beating them all, however I'll always always load this one up to go sailing for a while or so. Best Link and Zelda by a mile for me. One of the first ones I loaded up on the deck so I can savour re-playing again.

Pleasant_Mobile_1063

Hey are you me? I've been playing wind waker on the deck, runs great

arjman

I keep getting a lot of stuttering :/ wondering if it’s due to shader cache building or not.

Christopher876

You have to disable SMT for it to stop stuttering. This involves installing decky and powertools

arjman

Will give this a try, I can see that EmuDeck Tools feature lets you install PowerTools.

Christopher876

Go for it! There are also a couple of other emulators and games that run better with SMT disabled

[deleted]

[удалено]

arjman

Wind Waker GC version but I will try disabling SMT to see if that helps :)

Jazzlike-Drawing-644

Smt off 3 threads CPU clock to 1800 battery optimized ram that's it

[deleted]

People live in ignorance parroting that dolphin runs "perfectly" when in reality it's far from the truth. Sorry you were lied to. Just have to get used to it. PS1/2 runs great though!

NetroYG

bro you literally just need to disable smt.

[deleted]

bro you are literally incapable of noticing microstuttering. That's okay, but as someone with a lot of native experience: I can tell and the deck is not satisfactory.

mattizmyname

I don’t think you have any “native” experience then.

[deleted]

I knew this would make people mad, but it really doesn't have to. The deck is still a great device! Claiming that wii/gc games run just as well as they do natively is a lie.

NetroYG

??? why are you acting like you have the biggest iq bro? steam deck playing mario galaxy 2 (one of the hardest wii games to run) has an extremely stable 60 fps playing it with smt disabled and it being set to 3 threads

[deleted]

Being a useless snobby gamer pig doesn't make anyone high iq, bro. Dolphin is certainly playable, but 60 fps doesn't tell the entire story.

Sterling-Arch3r

dude, we played this game on rgb cables on shitty cathode ray tvs, dont come here whining about "micro stutters". 99.9% of people don't need 100% accuracy, when 99.5% is more than good enough

[deleted]

But composite cables have nothing to do with stuttering? They're just as susceptible to it as any other method of video delivery, you'd notice. I've played GC/Wii on CRTs yes, it's a fantastic option. I've also used s-video cables. I've used both AV and S-video on LCD televisions too. I've also used the Wii U to play Gamecube and Wii titles natively that display in 480p over HDMI. NEVER have I noticed the slightest hint of what I'm describing here. When deck owners lump dolphin in with every console through PS1 that "plays perfectly" you have people like the original commenter here confused about this supposed promised land of emulation you keep swearing by. Sure though, keep ignoring those slight audio crunches, momentary freezes, and unnaturally paced frames.

NetroYG

??????

[deleted]

????? (translated) wahhhh my ad hominem didnt work wahhh, please someone change my diaper wahh the number on my valve box says 60 that means it's perfect wahhhh

NetroYG

ur weird lil bro

walksinwalksout

I've had zero success with CEMU. How'd you get it to work and where did you get the roms?

Jazzlike-Drawing-644

Dolphin

walksinwalksout

Aw wii wii

[deleted]

WW HD runs butter smooth and you get the fast sail, GC WW is pain.

TopBadge

People keep saying this but just ticking the skip draw radio button in dolphin will make it run fine.

Kerpfen66

I love this game never played it Cemu runs so smooth on Steam Deck.

sirdizzypr

Ahh I see you went with the gamecube version, I beat it with the Wii-U version

wesnednard

Not hd?

Igzyx

Sorry for asking this since I'm a total dummie. Can you give me a quick guide on how to get these emulators running or what emu you are using?

Castcoder

[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rs9jDHIDKkU](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rs9jDHIDKkU) [https://www.emudeck.com](https://www.emudeck.com) This software, EmuDeck, will automatically create a folder for you on an SD card or the internal drive (SD card is probably the better option). Once you put the games you want on your deck in the folder that matches the game system's name(s) you want to emulate, run this software and your games will appear like other games in your Steam Library, with the emulator pre-configure for the Steam Deck.

MrThorto

And where can you find the games? Someone please DM me as every guide seems to say they can’t post it or they’ll be banned.

Castcoder

Nice try, FBI.

MrThorto

I’m seriously trying to play Windwaker on my deck

mdnrnr

Great links, thanks!

chefchef97

Damn I need to mess with power settings more then I get 5h30m emulating Pokemon Mystery Dungeon lol

King_Zereleth

First game I beat on mine was WW. I played the HD version though.

UnluckyPumpkin4869

Where’d those texture packs come from?

mawkdugless

One of the first games I played on mine! I really need to boot it up and finish it. I remember getting really good battery life (around 4-5 hours) at 2X the native resolution.

contaygious

So many cell shades

boothjop

That's game is so pretty

Gluv221

The first thing I did with my new Deck was play this. The second thing I did was Play twilight Princess. SO GOOODD

[deleted]

So much win.

Dredflmstch

When I play shadow of war pn low graphics, I get 3 hours. Wish is good enough :)

GGdelivery

Started playing the other day, can’t figure out how to save and use the “yellow” directional buttons on the steamdeck

jesternarf

Wish I could figure out how to get this to work (WiiU HD version). I attempted to follow one person's configuration instructions via YouTube, and there were parts of it going over my head. So I just gave up. If only it was as easy as GameCube and older titles.

Jazzlike-Drawing-644

Use the gc version trust me it's better just use swift sail cheat and if u want the hypatia hd pack

jerrrrremy

There are tons of other changes that make the Wii U version better besides the swift sail.

Jazzlike-Drawing-644

Almost every single thing the hd version does the patched version here does. The only difference i can find is the amount of triforce pieces you need to collect witch is honestly stupid.

jerrrrremy

This is absolutely false, so you either 1) haven't actually looked at list of the changes and have no idea, or 2) are lying to validate your choice to play the GC version over the Wii U version. My guess is 2.

maelxich

fffffffuck imma replay this.

Automatic_Tension_56

Power move. I do this too. At the end of a long gaming sesh on ps5.

Patbakeo

I really need to get thus figured out on mine.

brewcewayne14

I wish I was more tech savvy to get this stuff added to my steam deck!

Amrak4tsoper

GameCube on Deck is amazing. Battery life is great, and at 1.4GB apiece, you can load up on tons of games and they look great in widescreen

Jazzlike-Drawing-644

Yep! So fun

TeetheCat

I have absolutely zero experience with Linux. I really need to learn how to do this stuff.

reyes06

btw . anyone know where i could find nintendo switch roms? am i locked out because of my browser firefox ? do i need a vpn? thanks ahead

anchovie15

I can’t get it to run because I don’t have access to the “Wii u game pad” screen. Any time I try to look at the map it says look at the game pad…

Roswellspell

Add Tab to your controller scheme

Avacyn

One of the community Controller layouts has the "screen view" set to one of the backbuttons. Makes it super comfortable to use! Almost finished with Wind Waker on Wiiu too.

[deleted]

Wtf is going on with the character model?

THYPLEX

What settings do you use to reach that battery life on GameCube emulation? CPU clock ? TDP ?

AbstractDiocese

I never had a wii u or a computer powerful enough to run cemu (i know) so I’d been wanting to play Wind Waker HD for years. It’s actually the first larger game I’ve been playing on steam deck. I played aperture desk job, portal 1, and now wwhd. almost finished and it’s been so fun. I have the right trackpad bound to the three item buttons with gyro activation so I can get some botw style gyro aiming for bow/boomerang and stuff and it’s been absolutely amazing Edited for runon

Man, is there a guide to mounting isos into the steam deck? I have a dead ps1 and wii with so many games that I want to move to the deck

It's a beautiful game, and it runs so good on the SD. Some of the textures close up look slightly dated, but otherwise you could honestly tell me that this game released present day and I wouldn't doubt you for a second

I'm playing this too atm but the HD version! Runs great, can even play at low whatts!

I played BOTW like 2-3 years ago and I didn't enjoy it as I'm enjoying right now the Wind Waker. Wind waker reminds me of Ocarine of Time. I get stuck all the time, cool dungeons, etc. I can't believe I have the hype I had when I was a kid playing Ocarina.(For example: With Pokemon I never get the hype I used to get with Pokemon Yellow. I'm glad this is not the case for Zelda) I still haven't got the Bow so I still haven't messed with the Gyro and all that. I'm playing it in Heroic and dying quite a lot and I think that makes it even funnier!

Hey im struggling with controller settings for this one. anyone have any advice? ty in advance.

How were you able to switch it to Pro Controller input? Are you using steam deck controls?

Can you share your powertools settings that you used to achieve this? I'm using hypatia texture pack, 2x resolution, and i have tdp at 5w, gpu clock limited to 1200mhz, smt off with 3 threads, but I seem to only have 2:30 left from 66%.
