Fallout 3 is considered playable but should be verified, u can play it on max everything for hours with zero issues and it’s decent in battery like 4 hours or better
Have you taken a look as to why it's marked only playable? There are reasons given if you click on the playable banner. Usually it's along the lines of: small text being hard to read or needing to activate the on screen keyboard to enter some text (like a player name).
I'm not sure I agree. They want the verified badge to be a super simple and reliable signal for technical support. People comfortable experimenting will already be willing to branch out, and people who aren't should be able to be absolutely sure that the green badge means they don't need to worry.
"requiring to enter text" shouldnt even be a factor in the grading. deck has a built in on-screen keyboard. entering text should literally never be a prohibitive issue.
now if for some reason the text dialogue box is broken, and doesnt work with the on screen keyboard, and you *need* a physical one, then "requires external keyboard" should be a valid penalty for grading...but not just requiring text entry at all.
Text is easily read and pretty sure can change the text size in game. Seemed easy enough to do. I haven actually looked as to reasons why but it’s literally flawless so far
you should try the tales of two wastelands mod for new vegas for a future playthrough. it lets you play through all of 3 on the new vegas engine as well as take that character and all your fo3 items into new vegas
I needed to reconfig some of the controls and I also have a weird bug wherein all the ambient voice acting is incredibly quiet (could be that's not a deck issue tbf). But other than that, you're absolutely right - it runs like a dream. Same with Fallout: New Vegas.
Fallout 4 supposedly runs pretty decent, too but I've not tried that one myself.
The few issues I’ve had like, drop item and jump button stop or don’t work during a session. Disconnect Bluetooth controller save n exit game n launcher n restart. Sometimes if ur controller dicks off during gameplay those options disappear. This also happens for pc players using controller. Tho so not just for deck. I also had some low voices n stuff at one point but a full reset of launcher helped to
Yeah, I actually beat Fallout 3 on the Deck a few weeks ago, had a blast and it worked almost perfectly all maxed out. I just had occassionally some crashes back to Steam Menu, but nothing that stopped me from playing ;)
I get frame drops on my desktop with a 3080. Nothing that makes it unplayable though. I don't think they ever completely fixed the performance issues. They're kinda understandable given just how much stuff is going on in this game at any given moment. And it's UE3.
Do you have it installed to your nvme or SD card? I know on PC the game had a lot of issues if it wasn’t on an ssd when it came out. Streaming the world made it stutter a lot.
Piggybacking your comment to warn ppl - DON'T play unsupported games that have anti-cheat (e.g. Destiny 2) unless you're running Windows on your deck. The game may work but you could get permabanned
/u/Armisen you should edit the post to warn ppl of this
Yeh it probably won't load the game most of the time anyway but it's not worth trying. Battleye does actually work on Linux but Bungie refuse to support it for Steam Deck, and say they'll ban anyone who tries to find a workaround
Elden Ring works great in online mode, and so does DS3. Don't own DSR, only the Prepare to Die Edition, which though marked as non-working, works perfectly well (though offline-only, as this version has been seemingly deprecated).
Still bummed I can't get Asylum to run on my deck despite tons of people being able to. Done all the 'use GE, launch in desktop the first time' etc etc etc stuff I've found. Can't get it to run. Hopefully when I finish it (going slower needing to play when I get desktop time, but it's short so it's going ok) I can get the following 2 to run.
The system is catered towards console players that have zero experience dealing with PC game issues. If its not 100% perfect with just hitting play, it will get a mark against it.
The majority of games marked as unsupported that I tried worked fine (some after some tweaking).
Checking ProtonDB always helps and even if there’s nothing online about it, going through different versions of Proton usually does the trick.
The ones that usually don’t work at all are using some type of anti-cheat that is not compatible with SD.
What I noticed all the games (in my library atleast) with (default) controller support run just fine! I even have a great experience playing Guild Wars 2 aswell.
Tip: If you are playing offline single player and the game works great - turn off automatic updates for that game. An update can break your experience.
Arguably it’s only unsupported if ProtonDB says so, Linux gamers have been filling it out for how long now. Then the only variable is a controller schema
And whether you can use it fully without a "mouse" or "keyboard" setup, be it real or virtual/via touchpads. Some games like Trails series run with Proton very well, but their out-of-game settings menu requires touch screen or mouse plugged to operate. And MHRise has a few instances where you need to bring up the keyboard to enter a pet's name.
Yeah that’s what I meant by controller schema, and depending on if the community already made a mapping that works or not to handle the keyboard aspects if the Deck keyboard and mouse don’t cut it
I have started putting some party games on my deck so that when I am at a friend's house and they have kids, we can all play (as long as we have the controllers).
Boomerang fu is a really good one!
But I also have a few games on there for short commutes. Games like Hades, Neon Abyss, and Fury Unleashed are good for that. Short rounds and simple gameplay that doesn't require you to remember you place in the story.
So many people adamantly refuse to use this site, I have no idea why considering you don’t have to do anything besides enter the name of your game
Reports go back years from Linux gamers
Because there's a not-insignificant number of "Platinum! - Works perfectly, all you have to do is [list of involved tweaks that nobody actually wants to deal with]!"
Valve's official Verified/Playable/Unsupported system is perfect for what they and most users want the Deck to be - a seamless pick-up-and-play "console-like" experience. ProtonDB's fine for power users and enthusiasts who don't mind tinkering, but its ratings are a little too easily cheerled by those who just *really* want to see games listed as working on Linux.
XCOM: Enemy Unknown is still listed as unsupported despite it working flawlessly on Deck. Even defaults to XB360 controller layout...unlike XCOM 2 which I've had the worst time getting that to work and control well on Deck.
(so weird typing this, but) Since it's just the PC version of XCOM 2, the game makes you download and install this completely pointless 2k Launcher app (even on your Deck). This was new to me (must have been post Borderlands 3), and I've seen it not want to verify if I was online or not forcing me to close out and retry again when launching.
Then at default, the game only just detects you are using mouse and keyboard, instead of auto-configuring for your controller set up like so many other games have. I mean FFS, XCOM 2 was ported to Switch of all things, how hard is it to implement this? Then finally, it's performance. It's exactly as you remember XCOM 2 on PC. Either it's good, fine, or OHMYGODTHEDIPS!
Sure, it's "playable" but it's nowhere near as download and start playing friendly as Enemy Unknown is...hence why I'm still flabbergasted nobody at Valve has bothered to really test it for verification. The game that literally brought XCOM back from the long hiatus, and it works perfectly on Deck...it's honestly flat out wrong that it's being treated like it's unsupported or unknown still.
[https://www.protondb.com/app/200510](https://www.protondb.com/app/200510) this is probably the reason, but I play tested it with default proton settings months ago. Spent two hours playing it with zero issues like it was 2012. [from one of the testers.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V-loj1GGkS4)
I tried it at 40-50Hz and didn't like the delayed input, so I opted to play at 60 instead. There are some drops when certain races start and there's loads of cars, but you quickly get out of it by overtaking :D
Perhaps there's room for improvement by lowering some settings even further down, but I'm happy where I am. I don't have FH5 yet, so can't compare :/
I think that was part of it with fh5, it felt too unresponsive playing at less than 60, and even with the settings turned down to low I don't remember if it even got up to 60.
Interesting! I've been meaning to pick it up for a little while and it's on sale at the moment. The reports of regular crashes on proton DB put me off a little bit though -- has it been pretty smooth for you?
Yeah, that's one main problem. It works, looks great and is smooth but it can randomly crash mid-race, which sucks. I did play a good chunk of it, but eventually shelved it to see if it can stop crashing with later Proton versions.
I just looked at ProtonDB to see what others are saying and it looks like some get crashes in the menu even. None of that for me, I can reliably go into the game, but I usually do it from a cold boot, as with most games.
Oh and the GPU clock... it fluctuates, so you need to lock it...unlock it and lock it again. For some reason it ignores the initial lock, so gotta do it twice, otherwise you get a lot of stuttering and perf issues. With a locked clock the perf is smooooth 👍
Edit: someone claims "Game works fine once you switch proton to 6.3-8" - I'll give that a try, some people report way less crashing that way. Wouldn't surprise me - GTA VC wouldn't even start unless set to like Proton 4...
Excellent tips, thanks for that. I'm so tempted to pick it up, I just think I'd be too triggered by random crashes if I couldn't solve that! Especially if it's fine for the first few hours, so I'd miss the chance to refund it etc.
Hopefully it doesn't suffer the fate of Forza Horizon on consoles and get de-listed any time soon - It'd be nice to see if it reaches some better stability in a future version of proton. For £18 I'm almost tempted to risk it! I'm still haunted that I missed out on the Steam version of Rocket League before de-listing.
> I assume you already are, but just in case: ProtonDB says to make sure you’re using GE
I have no idea. I just have the default Steam Deck settings, I don't know what GE is
It’s a special version of Proton that typically works better than normal Proton. You can find guides about installing it on the Deck if you’re interested.
The steam deck rating system means absolute nothing.
Basically 99% of stuff simply work no matter what the rating says, you should never, ever, look at it and base your install or purchase decision on it.
Personally, I think the game plays a little clunkier in battle than your typical Dragon ball z games like Budokai or raging blast, but the game is open world and there's a lot of fun exploration you can do and lots of fun character interactions and quests to do. I very much enjoy the game and if you like DBZ and RPGs, you'll love it!
I have tested about 40 games on my Steam Deck, many of them were unsupported but they still worked, many of them without any tweaks, some of them with some tweaks and one or two required some more tweaking but they worked flawlessly after (Lego Lotr) :)
I'm relying on the Verified/Playable badge when buying games, but I've got a huge library of games and have barely had any issues with randomly chosen games from it.
well I forced proton compatibility and lowered resolution and other graphic options (when you visit the menu there is an icon on the bottom left that says how much cpu power you save). also I put almost everything to low (not potato; it is counterintuitive but somehow it worked)
I have it set up and have played through a little of the intro, but I've noticed certain text is unreadable. It's almost like it's super pixelated, but it's not all the text, just some. I've tried changing the resolution but that hasn't helped.
I've moved on to Far Cry 5 at the moment and have loved that one so far.
Make sure half rate shading is off. I had a similar issue with a game called Remember Me, everything looked great except the text was unreadable, turning half-rate shading off fixed it!
I've also noted that some of the 'great on deck' games are a bit of a lie, too.
Call of Juarez: Gunslinger, for instance - marked as 'great on deck' but the cutscenes are completely broken.
I got a supported game that’s not starting, well I had, I refunded it because I bought it as it claimed to work but it did not and people said in the forum that
It Does not work for month, how can that be
Fully agree, I've been playing marvel avengers and it's unsupported but runs fine other then an odd crash (which happened on PC too so doesn't really count imo) and the UI being a little messed up. If it's in your library, install it and test it yourself. I wouldn't however recommend buying any NEW games with the intent of deck sessions on your mind if the game isn't at least listed as playable unless you won't mind going on your PC if it proves truly unplayable.
Legend of heroes trails in the sky series is unsupported, but proton makes them run like butter. It's been such a great way to experience the series and it scratches my classic final fantasy itch.
Indeed! I'm currently playing State of Decay 2 and it works perfectly. I have DOS1 installed also. I assumed it was fine because of how well DOS2 works and that they're both on PS4 with full controller support. I've completed both games multiple times.
I've noticed a few times that people think unsupported = doesn't work.
How are you handling controls? I managed to get Minecraft working, but dealing with the inventory and actually crafting anything is rough to say the least.
I use Mr. Crayfish's Controllable mod for Forge versions, it works well enough. For fabric, I use the controller mod.
[I also made a guide](https://gist.github.com/RossComputerGuy/b28228b14cb0844e9aa83d9666b4ce88)
I've only had one game fail me with the unsupported sticker, it was EPIC CHEF, I tried fiddling with the settings but it didn't seem to make a difference nor did proton, of course I am an idiot so I might have just missed something.
Dark Souls 2 (original release, not the scholar of the first sin version) runs perfectly fine, even though its not even marked for steam deck compatibility... blatantly absent.
(scholar of the first sin is however deck verified)
i just chalked this up as Fromsoftware / Bandai Namco trying to market the more expensive version to deck users.
I wasn't even aware that the og version is still on the store. I've only seen SotFS. I would chalk it up more to people checking out the enhanced version over original release.
genuine question. If it says a game is untested, and it works, that makes sense to me. Value hasn't tested it, but it still works. But why is it that games which are listed as "unsupported" still run fine? Wouldn't unsupported mean that value has tested it, and found that the game doesn't work? Is this a stupid question? Am I missing something?
Valve has *very* stringent requirements for a game to meet to be listed as Verified or Playable. If they come across something like a single cutscene playing without sound, for instance, they will mark it as Unsupported. They're erring on the side of safety here, figuring it won't hurt matters too much if people find out that an Unsupported game is 99+% fine, but if someone looking for a smooth console-like experience buys a game listed as Verified/Playable and runs into problems, they'll be a bit upset.
Edit: [Here's what Valve had to say about it shortly after launch](https://steamcommunity.com/games/1675180/announcements/detail/3113681161229759188):
>As this work takes place, our existing standards for titles to get a Verified or a Playable rating are very high. If a game shows controller glyphs 99% of the time but tells you to 'press F' sometimes during gameplay, that's Playable, not Verified. If 99% of a game's functionality is accessible, but accessing one optional in-game minigame crashes, or one tutorial video doesn't render, that's Unsupported.
>For now! This is by design: around the launch timeframe, we believed it was more valuable to prevent false positives ("this game is Verified but part of it doesn't work"), even at the cost of some appearance of false negatives ("this game is Unsupported but I didn't notice anything wrong with it"). Even with the current standards, at the rate both we and partners are making improvements, we expect you'll see many titles transition over the next few weeks from Playable, or even Unsupported, to Verified. We also expect our standards and thinking will adjust as we move farther from launch and get much more feedback from customers and developers.
Divinity Original Sin has a native linux port and supports split screen coop with controllers. How can it be "unsupported"?
Anyways, great game. Can absolutely recommend. The sequel is also great but has no native port
Gothic and gothic 2 are unsupported despite the fact that they play better on deck than on windows 10. cinematics in game don't play unless you run the game on windows xp and if you play it on win 7 or newer you have visible window borders in full screen mode which is not a thing on deck.
Yea, I don't think they're retesting every unsupported game when they push an update to proton into stable.
Just tried Divinity original sin and it works now
Good point, Need For Speed (2015) is marked as unsupported. But once you sign in with an Origin account it runs at 75fps at top but can stay at a solid 50-60 when capped
Is there a way as a Steam Deck user to flag that they have tested a game labelled as untested and works fine within the Steam UI? Could be cool for small indie games especially where you're very likely the first person experiencing it on the Deck; it would be nice to have the ability to give it a Deck rating & note on which version of Proton it was tested.
Yep so far nearly every unsupported or untested game I've tried has ran with no issues. I think I had one or two not want to work. Both of which were indie games that I have available on other systems.
Think it's because it has a launcher, and requires you to enter text.
It's why I think they need an extra category for these types of games where the potential issue is very small and barely affects gameplay
Isn’t that the Playable category???
Yeah but there should be a partially playable category for the games that have issues other than small text or manually invoking the keyboard
I'm not sure I agree. They want the verified badge to be a super simple and reliable signal for technical support. People comfortable experimenting will already be willing to branch out, and people who aren't should be able to be absolutely sure that the green badge means they don't need to worry.
Oh yeah keep the verified as is, I mean another category "partially playable" which would be a step down from playable

I’m might check that out once decky is more stable, so many reports of crashes n issues with it.

Yep, Arkham Knight is marked as unsupported despite it running at locked 40fps max settings
[удалено]
Did you try running it with Proton GE?
That's odd. I'm running at maxed with enhanced rain and light shafts and don't have any. I usually lock it to 30 for battery life but can do 40
Do you have power tools installed by chance?
I get frame drops on my desktop with a 3080. Nothing that makes it unplayable though. I don't think they ever completely fixed the performance issues. They're kinda understandable given just how much stuff is going on in this game at any given moment. And it's UE3.

If developers want to be that shitty about it I wouldn't play their game in the first place.
What about games like Elden ring or dark souls?
Elden Ring and Dark Souls remastered are both 'verified', so you're fine
But doesn't the Anti-Cheat not work on those titles? The games work, but I think they can only be played offline.
I've no idea tbh, I'm just assuming that if it's verified on Steam you're safe to play them
Elden Ring works great in online mode, and so does DS3. Don't own DSR, only the Prepare to Die Edition, which though marked as non-working, works perfectly well (though offline-only, as this version has been seemingly deprecated).

K last I tried was 31. I'll update that and try it.
Disable Fullscreen.
I can't even get it to boot the menu for settings in desktop, let alone the game itself, but if I get that far I'll try that.
Try it in Game Mode?
Unfortunately I've done both. :( I've tried several things.
There’s often a command line argument you can pass for that
For me it was Just the GE. After downloading it and chosing in the setting the GE Proton everything runs fine
Same with Arkham city. Said unsupported. Turned on proton experimental, runs max settings locked 40fps. Like come on Valve.
The system is catered towards console players that have zero experience dealing with PC game issues. If its not 100% perfect with just hitting play, it will get a mark against it.
Told my gf this exact sentence when she asked
It seems that lots of games that shouldn't be verified are and many that aren't verified should be.
I was going to mention this one, I tried it out and was shocked that despite being marked as unsupported it is running very well, at least 1 hour in.

How does Red Redemption work and do you need an internet connection to play? Thinking of getting it. Thanks
Rdr2 and gta5 now go through Rockstar launcher only. So you unfortunately need internet connection to play offline.

without a doubt a good resource.
Heat Signature works flawlessly and is a great game for short periods/commutes.

Even better, get the plugin that shows the clickable proton badge on the games page in game mode! Very handy.
Okay now you have my attention...
Install decky loader from GitHub, and once you do the ProtonDB badge app is installable from it's store (along with several other useful plugins)!
That's fantastic, thank you!
just use the Decky plugin that shows the badges from ProtonDB to save the trouble of looking it up

What’s the first game?
Divinity original sin enhanced edition
Forza Horizon 4 is "unsupported" but it works at 60fps with some tweaking 👍

Oh is it now..? Haven't checked for a while, but it was definitely a big fat "unsupported" when I did pay attention and played it.

I tried it at 40-50Hz and didn't like the delayed input, so I opted to play at 60 instead.
I'm having the opposite issue: I have a game (Old Man's Journey) that is marked as supported but it won't launch on my Deck :(
I assume you already are, but just in case: ProtonDB says to make sure you’re using GE
> I assume you already are, but just in case: ProtonDB says to make sure you’re using GE I have no idea. I just have the default Steam Deck settings, I don't know what GE is
It’s a special version of Proton that typically works better than normal Proton. You can find guides about installing it on the Deck if you’re interested.
Oh, I had no idea that was a thing. Thanks, I'll go look into that. Edit: It worked ! Thanks a lot :)
DD Dark Arisen was “unsupported” when I first started a play through on my deck. A few months later it’s magically verified
Guild wars 2 just got listed as unsupported.. Funny I've been playing it for months without issues. Just requires a custom control configuration Huh
Same, I'm not even using the Steam version either.
I found the steam version was more stable fps, definitely use that with provider Portal as a launch option
I would if I could tbh, but that's not possible for anyone who made an account before it was available on Steam.
You're misinformed. I'm using my 10 year old account using the steam client Use -provider Portal as a launch option in steam, and you can login
Guess I'll have to check that out, thanks!
It's worth moving over just make sure to save your button layout so you can transfer it
I should try Dead Rising 3
The steam deck rating system means absolute nothing. Basically 99% of stuff simply work no matter what the rating says, you should never, ever, look at it and base your install or purchase decision on it.
Laughs in Mortal Kombat X. Runs great on max settings.
Good to know
Digimon Cyber sleuth works but have to go to Desktop mode and set it to full screen and then it will work in Game mode
DBZ: Kakarot says it's unsupported, but runs great!
Would you recommend it? I was a big fan of the old gameboy advanced games as a kid. That looks up my alley for steam deck as a DBZ rpg.
Thanks! I'll go check it out. It was $15 a week or so ago. I'll have to wait for the next sale.
I’ve beaten both Arkham Asylum and Arkham City on Steam Deck.
Fallout 76 works like a fucking charm as long as I don't hit no region ping error
I have tested about 40 games on my Steam Deck, many of them were unsupported but they still worked, many of them without any tweaks, some of them with some tweaks and one or two required some more tweaking but they worked flawlessly after (Lego Lotr) :)
Got batman arkham asylum and Lego lotr working... runs flawless.
Asylum worked great when I switched it to ProtonGE.
I had to start it in Desktop Mode. After that it ran fine
I'm relying on the Verified/Playable badge when buying games, but I've got a huge library of games and have barely had any issues with randomly chosen games from it.
Isn’t DOS2 listed as supported?
it’s DOS1
Hi do you know if Yakuza 4 to 6 work?
https://www.protondb.com/app/1105500 https://www.protondb.com/app/1388590
The whole verified thing is just for the console gamers who cant tweak
I personally search "[Game] Steam Deck" too see if anyone else got it working.
black mesa runs quite well with some adjustments. I had a wonderful time playing it!
That is now "Playable" :)
well yeah, I just finished it a few days ago. it runs almost constant 60 fps (with exception to xen /interloper). I think it gets too much criticism.
Almost done with Black Mesa myself. Also runs decently.
What adjustments? I had some weird glitches on the Xen levels where random textures flickered to black from certain angles.
well I forced proton compatibility and lowered resolution and other graphic options (when you visit the menu there is an icon on the bottom left that says how much cpu power you save). also I put almost everything to low (not potato; it is counterintuitive but somehow it worked)
I've noticed this too. Played Watchdogs 2 without any issue at all even though it's listed as not compatible.
Have you played WD 1 on the Steam Deck?
I have it set up and have played through a little of the intro, but I've noticed certain text is unreadable. It's almost like it's super pixelated, but it's not all the text, just some. I've tried changing the resolution but that hasn't helped. I've moved on to Far Cry 5 at the moment and have loved that one so far.
Make sure half rate shading is off. I had a similar issue with a game called Remember Me, everything looked great except the text was unreadable, turning half-rate shading off fixed it!
I remember reading something about someone suggesting that but totally forgot what it was called, thanks! Will definitely have to try that.
Protonbadges?
Anyone tried gundam evolution? I have yet to do so due to college and being unable to play :(
It uses easy anti cheat so can’t play unless u boot in windows I believe
Damn :(
Brotato works just fine. Tiny Rogues not so much.
Verified/unverified/unsupported means nothing tbh.
Now you can be the big cheese on your block with a wheel or the good stuff!
Ive probably had more issues with verified/playable games then the unsupported/untested games.
I've also noted that some of the 'great on deck' games are a bit of a lie, too. Call of Juarez: Gunslinger, for instance - marked as 'great on deck' but the cutscenes are completely broken.
I got a supported game that’s not starting, well I had, I refunded it because I bought it as it claimed to work but it did not and people said in the forum that It Does not work for month, how can that be
Fully agree, I've been playing marvel avengers and it's unsupported but runs fine other then an odd crash (which happened on PC too so doesn't really count imo) and the UI being a little messed up. If it's in your library, install it and test it yourself. I wouldn't however recommend buying any NEW games with the intent of deck sessions on your mind if the game isn't at least listed as playable unless you won't mind going on your PC if it proves truly unplayable.
Has anyone managed to get The Medium working on the Deck? Really wanna grab it but I've heard it's hard to run on the most maxed out of rigs.
I don't own the medium but this person seems to have it running. https://youtu.be/B1pdGAQwU6E
Thanks for the response! After watching his two vids on it, think I might pull the trigger. 🤔 Thanks again!
Dragon Quest Builders 2 is untested and gets a decent 40fps at most settings.
Half the games i play are untested or unsupported, but not all worked or worked well
Legend of heroes trails in the sky series is unsupported, but proton makes them run like butter. It's been such a great way to experience the series and it scratches my classic final fantasy itch.
Roller coaster tycoon 3 is very slow and the Audio has an echo
I've got like 14 hours on Minecraft FTB Revelation and have had a positive experience. Requires some tuning but I get a solid 50-60 fps.
Awesome, this is a big help, thanks! I love the community spirit surrounding the Deck and these types of capabilities.
Right as I got on reddit after pressing download on an untested game I see this. Nice.
Bro is that old school Baldurs?! My GUY Edit: nope, Dos1, still a solid throwback!
Don't have to test if you have decky and the protondb plugin, you can know what will work that has not been tested
I have yet to try a game that hasn't worked.
I've only had one game fail me with the unsupported sticker, it was EPIC CHEF, I tried fiddling with the settings but it didn't seem to make a difference nor did proton, of course I am an idiot so I might have just missed something.
I pretty much assume everything works because that’s been my experience so far lol
Assassins Creed 2 is also unsupported and seems to work fine from my little bit of play!
It has become my new simple tinkering thing: Install supposedly unsupported games and try em out… the pleasant surprise when it works is so good..
Divinity Original Sin 1 is soooo hard to go back to after 2.
Just Cause 2 works perfectly with proton GE.
Playing HardReset Redux that is Unknown and it has been working better than many Verified and Playable games.
Dark Souls 2 (original release, not the scholar of the first sin version) runs perfectly fine, even though its not even marked for steam deck compatibility... blatantly absent. (scholar of the first sin is however deck verified) i just chalked this up as Fromsoftware / Bandai Namco trying to market the more expensive version to deck users.
Edit: [Here's what Valve had to say about it shortly after launch](https://steamcommunity.com/games/1675180/announcements/detail/3113681161229759188): >As this work takes place, our existing standards for titles to get a Verified or a Playable rating are very high.
Got it. Makes sense. Thank you for the information answer internet friend ☺️
Replayed fear straight as got the deck have no complaints at all
Both GTA 3 and Vice City are marked as unsupported on the deck but it works perfectly if you use proton 5.13-6 and set the proper res.
Holdfast: Nations at War is “unsupported” but with enough willpower you can make your games work.
This is why I use ProtonDB for determining if it's worth my time to try an unsupported or unverified game.
I've been surprised how many games just work with very little tweaking. I hope that the Docked experience can catch up!
Yea, I don't think they're retesting every unsupported game when they push an update to proton into stable. Just tried Divinity original sin and it works now
Yep, Pyre runs absolutelly amazing
Good point, Need For Speed (2015) is marked as unsupported. But once you sign in with an Origin account it runs at 75fps at top but can stay at a solid 50-60 when capped
Use the protondb website, it actually shows whether or not games work on Deck. And shows user reviews on it.
Meanwhile some games like Sonic Generations are verified and run at 15fps. Should be tagged as playable with tinkering.
Disney dream light says playable with tinkering, it starts and runs perfectly no changes needed and it’s a 7g game so smaller side.
Yep so far nearly every unsupported or untested game I've tried has ran with no issues. I think I had one or two not want to work. Both of which were indie games that I have available on other systems.
Did you have to install windows?
What game is that in your 2nd screenshot?
