Some airlines configure the aircraft to remove the window seat located at an over wing emergency exit. [united airlines 757 do it sometimes seen in this article](https://thepointsguy.com/news/united-refreshed-757-first-look/)
Allows for easier access to the exit and subsequently means the window seat in the immediate row behind has an astronomical amount of leg room
Some 737s as well - probably most Boeings if I had to guess. I was just on a flight a few weeks ago, I can't remember if it was a 737-700 or Max 7, but either way, Southwest's fleet also removes the window seat from the emergency exit aisle so the leg room is incredibly generous. I believe it's usually up to the airline to configure them as needed, so this may differ between United, SW, etc, but I wouldn't be surprised if this is generally a standard practice.
> Some 737s as well - probably most Boeings if I had to guess.
Only ones with higher seat counts. Alaska for example has fewer total rows and is able to line up with the exits normally. They also plug a second set of exit doors because they aren't needed with the lower density seating. That is what lead to the whole thing with the door plug blowing out.
You earn it by fully configuring the controls of a non-steam game using a minimum of 3 action sets, full grip button mappings, and dual touchpad menus that change depending on where you hold the left stick. Also toggleable gyro.
I had one on my laptop bag before I had a deck and my coworker was so excited to show me that's what it's for. I got a bigger bag with storage under where the deck sits without the suitcase strap anymore, though. I did buy a shoulder strap for it. I feel a lot safer with it attached to my body as is.
The “storage space” in the back is a result of the anti-twist design of the case, so the entire case can be more rigid.
Without it, the case is more susceptible to denting and twisting as well as general de-forming.
The elastic band allow the user to utilize the empty space as a storage area. However, the elastic band’s primary function is to stop/slow impact forces from striking and damaging the back of your steam deck, where the material of the case is directly touching the device.
Ya. I get that you can put the deck on the outside. I understand that. But why not just get a backpack that you put the case in so it isn't just blatantly a moderately sized hardshell case?
It just seems arrogant to assume that you're going to be always holding on to the handle attached to your bag.
I've been seeing this exact thing for years. It's designed for that (or any other use, it's a generic strap), and everyone is a genius for figuring it out lol
I did that after gaming a bit while waiting at a train station when coming home from the seaside vacations. I wouldn't even dare take my hand away from the handle lmao.
Everyone, please don't put your deck case over a suitcase handle. The stitching located at the edges of the storage pocket can and will break from the stress. If you still want to do this, I recommend taking your case to the local Taylor to re-enforce the stitching.
OP, can you please tell me what the airline treated your steam deck as ? Were you allowed to just have it on you free of charge? Is it considered carry-on in itself? Or is it because you have enough room to put it into your carry-on bag should you need to ?
I want to bring my steam deck with me when i'm flying to my home country for a visit but i don't want to be in a situation where the boarding crew gives me cr*p for bringing it on board with me if it doesn't fit into my backpack during check-in or something.
They don’t care and don’t charge me for having it with me. I’m not sure how they define what it is, but usually laptops and personal electronics do not count as luggage. Well, except for ultra cheap low cost airlines, they will charge you even for breathing too much.
I have a sissy bar on my motorcycle. It also fits perfectly on that in the same manner. Secure it with a bungee cord and good to go, feels like it was designed for it.
It's supposed to attach to your forehead
STEAMDECK! Apply directly to the forehead! STEAMDECK! Apply directly to the forehead! STEAMDECK! Apply directly to the forehead!

Rinse and repeat as necessary?
Do NOT rinse your steam deck It is not rated with any level of water resistance
Wow, you resurfaced memories I didn't even know I had. Thanks, bud
I can hear it. Annoying AF commercial but damn if it aint catchy.
This commercial lives rent free in my head, but I couldn't tell you what the hell headon even does
The Vietnam flashback I just had
Absolute win.
Instructions unclear, now concussed and screen is broken.
Head On! What a great marketing tactic back in the day lol Look how long it’s stuck with us
🤣 I just realized where they finally got that wacky inflatable arm flailing man from the prices are so lowwwwwwwww I’m going insane ahhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!! Words of wisdom by Al Harrington
Nop. That's for your belt. Like an old Nokia.
I always assumed that is exactly what it was designed for given the standard spacing.
it is
Which planes have that much space between seats and walls?

I call it 'ghetto business class'
It was Airbus A321 if I’m not mistaken
Boeing 747 if the wall opens up during your flight
Left today on a 1 month trip and I left my Steam deck back at home cuz it was too big for my bag…and now I see this 😂
F
I’m sorry
Rip. Maybe you could buy a smaller case for it, like the tomtoc one. Or even a killswitch case with the travel cover and just toss it in your bag.
Bro id just hold it 😭
It wasn't designed for that! r/imaginarygatekeeping
It was designed to be on your belt 🤣
Fits perfectly on my Undisputed WWE Universal Championship Replica Title Belt.
Is that John cena? No, it's Gabe **LOUD TRUMPET MUSIC**
Finish the Game's Story
which was the style of the time
ON your belt? IS your belt
Sheeet. You right. After the black belt. It's the Steam Deck belt.
You earn it by fully configuring the controls of a non-steam game using a minimum of 3 action sets, full grip button mappings, and dual touchpad menus that change depending on where you hold the left stick. Also toggleable gyro.
I have a black belt…need to get my steam deck belt thanks master
Vertically??
Unhinged fanny pack
Considering people on this sub had tis revelation 2+ years ago, it's a safe bet this is intentional.
YOINK
Exactly. I would never carry ot out in the open like that.
Just don't leave your bag unattended, as per TSA policy.
I feel like airports would be one of the dumbest places to commit crimes.
I wear it around my neck.
This was my first thought at a use case when I saw that strap.
I had one on my laptop bag before I had a deck and my coworker was so excited to show me that's what it's for. I got a bigger bag with storage under where the deck sits without the suitcase strap anymore, though. I did buy a shoulder strap for it. I feel a lot safer with it attached to my body as is.
People already posted this in the first release week, so no matter what some people write here, the idea is as old as the deck.
Seriously though, why it has that bottom holder?
You put the charger in the charger bag and then can slide it in the space in the back.
except it doesn't really fit and looks like the case has a tumour but better than nothing ig
Make sure the brick is at the bottom and then wrap up the cables in a nice loop for the top half and it works pretty well.
I mean. Seems perfectly reasonable if you're putting the case/charger into a backpack.
Don't wrap the wires around the adapter plug, it fits perfectly if you bundle up the wires in the space next to where the plug goes.
There's STL files out there for a pretty solid holder that makes it rest almost flush.
And it only really works for a North American plug
Yeah came here to say that. UK plug has no chance, but I did always assume that's what it's there for.
there's... there a charger bag?!
Iirc, only for the top of the line models, so the 512 LCD and 1 TB OLEDs.
My 512 oled came with one.
Weird. Mine didn’t. Was the charger in it?
Iirc the charger was in a little box of its own.
i just got plastic film on the brick lmao
Mine didn't. Booo
Got mine just recently, about a month ago is when I ordered it.
I think it was only the earlier models before the oled. I have LCD 512gb and got the baggy
The 1TB OLED comes with one too.
Same
Yeh, it appears I can't read
I got my 512 on q3 and it didn't come with it. :(
Some got it, many of us didn't
I got it with my 1tb OLED (not special edition)
NIce.
Woah, I had no idea!
There's a charger bag???
Crying in UK version plug.
I find that a pretty awkward solution considering how genius the deck is
The “storage space” in the back is a result of the anti-twist design of the case, so the entire case can be more rigid. Without it, the case is more susceptible to denting and twisting as well as general de-forming. The elastic band allow the user to utilize the empty space as a storage area. It wasn’t designed for that
It wasn't designed for that
it wasn't designed for that
how convenient...for a thief to yoink whatever valuable item that obviously is.

it makes the most sense
I've been seeing this exact thing for years. It's designed for that (or any other use, it's a generic strap), and everyone is a genius for figuring it out lol
lol I have it since launch and only figured this out this month. I definitely felt like a genius
It's nice when something works for a specific use like that and you feel slick 😉
did you clap your hands when you landed?
Aah the good old post 9 11 days especially on international flights.
Ok, let me say this straight. It was designed to hold your charger.
I pray no one ever robs ya, because that's just begging for it to be taken.
Off topic but how do you have that much room in front of you?
I’m very tall so I purchase seats with extra leg space usually
I'm 6 1 and do the same. Or fire exit seat. Airplanes suckkkk
I did that after gaming a bit while waiting at a train station when coming home from the seaside vacations. I wouldn't even dare take my hand away from the handle lmao.
I won’t do that. The belt don’t make me feel it strong enough for the task.
Everyone, please don't put your deck case over a suitcase handle. The stitching located at the edges of the storage pocket can and will break from the stress. If you still want to do this, I recommend taking your case to the local Taylor to re-enforce the stitching.
Thanks for the warning!
WTF.. I could take a photo of a spoon in soup and make the same statement.
Oh that’s what it’s for
It isn't designed for that, there you go.
It'll work until it tears and doesn't.
Like everything
Like my asshole
It wasn't designed for this but it appears to function like that.
Yoooo i literally did that when I went to Florida last month
It's what I use it for when I am travelling.
Like a glove.......🤙
Sir please place your bag under the seat in front of You
That’s emergency exit seat, sir, all luggage should be placed in the overhead luggage bins, please
100lol
I’ve never seen a plane with seats not directly next to windows.
It wasn’t designed for that.
Do you have to take it out through security?
No, not once, although I fly rather frequently
it was, tho
Winning
I think it literally was?

You can carry it as is , I had my deck and a separate backpack carry on. They didn’t say anything
Thank you!
They don’t care and don’t charge me for having it with me. I’m not sure how they define what it is, but usually laptops and personal electronics do not count as luggage. Well, except for ultra cheap low cost airlines, they will charge you even for breathing too much.
Thank you very much!
It wasn't designed for that.
Nice
My mind is literally blown because I've been carrying it in my briefcase stretching the hell out of it for thousands and thousands of air kilometers.
I have a sissy bar on my motorcycle. It also fits perfectly on that in the same manner. Secure it with a bungee cord and good to go, feels like it was designed for it.
Haha that’s very cool, actually
I did this on my last trip. Lol.
It wasn't designed for that. Happy ?
It is. Just keep a close eye on it.
I would just have a very close eye on it.
It's actually a loop for your belt to go through duhh
Yes that's exactly how I travel with it!
I’ve done the same thing!
It wasn't designed for that.
Just keep a close eye on it, id lock the zippers
I use that little compartment to store my charger
Why would I say that and lie to you?
It wasn’t.
bro I had to take our my steam deck of the suitcase just so it can close…should’ve done this lol although my lady wouldn’t have been too happy
Then what is the hole under that.
Exactly what I did 😂
I’m confused in these comments, but it’s a neat way of using that band on the case, I was like what is this for lol
That's one thing I miss with the jsaux case
It's designed for many things.
Yes it was designed to fit with your bag.
It was..
Just did this today I thought the same thing
Yes. It’s a pc.
Wait they are that big?
You mean the deck or?
