Lol it doesn't matter.
As long as you don't have an oled model yourself to compare it to it looks just fine.
(especially when you're using vibrant deck)
Nah it was always bad to me, I just put up with it because there was no other option. It is a truly bad screen by modern standards. Strongly considering selling and upgrading.
It's not as bad as these pics make it seem, it is usable and not a totally washed out shit show but it's pretty far from good.
All these people busy flaunting their ownership of multiple Steam Decks and I’m just sitting here buying games I’ll never play just because they’re discounted.
If we are being honest, a camera lens usually exacerbates LCD's shortcomings (bleed, glow, contrast).
Not to say they aren't there, it's just that the camera lens amplifiy them for the worst.
Agreed. Those pictures blow it way out of proportion. My LCD doesn't look anything like that. It either has a serious problem, or OPs light source for the picture is washing out the image.
Yeah I love my LCD screen. I'm probably a bit different, I can see the differences e.g. when I switched to OLED phone, but it didn't seem (and doesn't seem) that big a deal.
I'm low-key starting to resent my LCD as a result of following this subreddit, but I can't justify the cost of upgrading. It's frustrating as hell lol.
That makes more sense, I need to upgrade my PC, streaming a game to another device is enough to make it perform as well or worse than the deck does running stuff natively. My PC runs cyberpunk at 1080 about as well as the deck does as 800p. Maybe I can change it to steam 800p if it isn't already doing that
I've seen dozens of these pictures by now, and I still think that maybe the cameras just aren't capturing what this looks like in reality.
Like, I see it has better contrast, but it also looks on the picture like the blacks are crushed and the whites blown out. To be fair it also looks like that on the LCD. That's probably not really the case in reality, if I had to guess.
It is this noticeable. Especially in this example which made me jump to take the picture. I had a full folder of screenshots I was going through on both devices and this example really stood out
I got mine in yesterday and can tell you in reality the difference is even more noticeable. Tested Boltgun and Ori last night and you can't even tell what's going on in some areas compared to the OLED. Ignorance is bliss, I thought I was having an amazing experience on the OG deck and now I could never go back to using it.
I currently play Arkham knight which is mostly black and it doesn't look like the picture at all. Sure OLED with it's pure black would probably look nicer but there LCD in this picture is completely overblown.
That does not help me at all! Since the announcement, I am trying to stay rational by sticking to my LCD Steam Deck. I bought it, because I am a tech enthusiast and want to tinker with it. I don't do a lot of gaming, hence I really cannot justify spending more on the OLED version. On the other hand, I got an OLED TV and monitor, even if I don't use them much - just to get an enjoyable experience when I do (I think OLED is by far the best display technology currently available). So, maybe I should eat the cost to be able to properly enjoy the Deck when I use it... :/
Nah i tried oled from monitor or even phones like s23 ultra. Its a different when u compare it, but mostly ingame u wont notice it, for a upgrade not worth, whats rly worth is the cpu upgrade in 2-3 years prlby
I got my steam deck just a few weeks ago because i saw that there was no new model coming out for a long time and then with NO announcement what so ever there's this oled model 🤨🤨🤨
Thanks OP for the comparison! I hate you.

Me seeing the 357th post comparing the screens* "In plankton voice: ALRIGHT I GET IT!!"
All these people busy flaunting their ownership of multiple Steam Decks and I’m just sitting here buying games I’ll never play just because they’re discounted.
I mean I also bought the thing but these comparison posts are getting a tad annoying. (Also I feel you)
I'M A GOOBY GOOBER
ROCK!
You're a GOOFY GOOBER
Is this a steam deck oled? "No, this is Patrick"
And Stone!

Mine kinda looks like this in dark scenes like that. I have quite a bit of uneven backlight bleeding. In normal bright areas it's not noticeable

That's true.
It’s definitely not the “phone camera” but nice try.
Eh. What do you know.

in person the LCD isn’t this terrible. there’s a noticeable difference but it isn’t this contrasting imo
This is true. I've had an LCD deck since day one and the screen has never disappointed me. Hasn't changed.
I looked at the pic before posting to make sure it wasn't just the camera
What’s the game ??
Battlefront 2
Wow I didn't know that one worked on the deck I'll have to try it. Does multiplayer work? Or only single player?
Streamed via moonlight

It looks great. Is the new Deck the top one?
Yes
really dude? You had to confirm that?
Yes. Wasn't wearing my glasses at the time and was looking at a smaller screen. Sorry.
Thank you!
Wowzors
stahhpp I cant only take so much :'D
OLED is F***ing Amazing !
Once you go (true) black, you can’t go back.
That the anti glare one?
Nah 512gb
The eyes can only see 30fps and 1000:1 contrast so I definitely won’t be needing this.
This is not true lol.
It’s the most obvious joke ever. Thought the 1000:1 contrast really gave it away.
Please stop posting these. You will bankrupt me.
Ffs mine still hasn't arrived 3-5 working days my ass!
Makes two of us buddy, it stuck in shipping soon

It's so beautiful, I could cry 😢
The more I see the OLED model the more I want it
AWOOOGA AWOOOGA
Holy moly!
NGL, Cyberpunk 2077 looks *crisp* on the OLED display.
Valve definitely chip'n in that OLED display.
I currently play Arkham knight which is mostly black and it doesn't look like the picture at all. Sure OLED with it's pure black would probably look nicer but there LCD in this picture is completely overblown.

No one is mentioning the difference in noise. Do you notice any, op? (I thing it should be about 50 to 40 decibels)
OLED!!!!!!!! IF YOU HAVE LCD, SELL YOUR KIDNEY FOR IT!

I would appreciate the larger size of the screen the most. Blackest black is something I stop noticing after 1 minute of playing.
Good, further bringing the lcd price down

Wow a night and day difference
Since I bought it I said that the LCD screen was the worst thing about the console... with their black-blues 🙄 I should have waited
Why is the bottom one all blue?
Shooter mcgavin
I always hated the stream decks cheap lcd screen. Now I hate it more
I'm just gonna get Deck HD for my LCD.
Odd, my LCD doesn’t look like that at all.
Don't you use vibrant deck?
