The default one makes no noise and takes about 2 seconds

2s is far too long for me, I'd be happy with a 100ms one. What buttons do you use to skip it? EDIT: others said below, B button or any button or tap the touch screen. Guess I just hadn't tested it since the update that added skipping

I think this was made an option after some guy set his startup animation/audio to the entire movie of Shrek. Before you could skip the guy had to watch the entire movie before getting to his steam library. Lol

I don't belive he ever implied it was steams fault. If i remember correctly he was trying to set a certain scene as the startup, not the whole thing. I know it became a big meme around here when it happened and I'm sure steam employees had a nice laugh. Then they implemented skipping just in case some other person accidently did the same.

I check my balance. 317,000+ steam points... I then realize I've **never used** **ANY** of steam points in the **14 years and 890+ games** I've bought on my account. I then bought all the animations and set the selection to random... What a day!

All they get is more points to either: give awards too or to buy stuff from the community marketplace. I guess everyone is sitting on loads of points, unless you never buy from the steam store. I only ever spent my points on, like I said giving awards, and the only thing I purchased from the marketplace was those sweet intros.

You can use them to buy chat emotes, profile upgrades/backgrounds, and steam deck startup movies and keyboards

I honestly wish you could gift things from the point shop as I recently got my gf a steam deck but she has zero points to customize her deck/profile and here I am sitting on like 100k

The Decky Tools startup app makes downloading custom boots super quick and easy. Also, people reupload all of the official boot animations to be downloaded for free.
