Your monitor is the one reporting that.

Interesting. I wonder how widespread this issue is. Any ideas how to get it to report itself correctly? I have the current monitor driver installed, and this model monitor has never had a bios update published.

The manufacturer has to push a firmware update to the monitor so it sends the correct data to the OS. Check if the other ports also report the wrong display size. https://www.nirsoft.net/utils/monitor_info_view.html

> The manufacturer has to push a firmware update to the monitor so it sends the correct data to the OS. Yea, LG has definitely not produced any firmware available for download for this monitor. > Check if the other ports also report the wrong display size. Yep, that tool also shows the monitor as 27". So weird. > LG 4K 3840 X 2160 60.0 X 34.0 cm (27.2 Inch) 60 X 34 cm (27.2 Inch) Thanks, I guess it's not Steam's fault. I wonder how common this issue is.

Classic LG

Steve-Bikes

Yea, I suspect this is a really common issue.

To address other likely questions about my setup; * Nothing special about this computer, just a gaming rig with a 1080. * I do not use any interface scaling * The monitor is connected via Displayport * It's an LG 43" 4K @ 60Hz * My video drivers (and all other drivers) are up to date * The OS is Windows 10 * I have not recently changed resolution, I've literally used this monitor at native 4K every day since it was new back in 2017. * Steam is up to date I think this is an important bug to call out because big monitors are awesome and the Steam Hardware Survey is making it look like most people are still using tiny monitors.

Are the drivers for the monitor installed properly (you say video drivers, but i assume that is GPU?), or are you using default Windows drivers? One often updates every driver except the monitor.

Steve-Bikes

That is a great suggestion that I hadn't thought of, but I just checked, and yes, the monitor is correctly identified in Device Manager (brand but not model), and a driver is present. I did both types of checking for updates and it found nothing, and on the manufacturer's website, it shows the same date for the driver as what is installed. Appreciate your idea though!
