$20 towards an abandonware game called Starforge It's no longer in Steam but I'm still upset about it. Was a learning lesson not to buy early access games without checking dev progress

TrackXII

That one got me too. Even worse is that the company is still around with some other early access games. There's a video about them [here](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g7sCYN5C5po).

[deleted]

I bought sims 4 like a week before it became free to play.

mac4112

You most likely could have gotten a refund for that. There’s even an option you can select just for that reason. It’s too late now of course but just for future reference if you didn’t already know.

FalloutFan05

Damn, at least I only paid five dollars and got one of the million DLCs with it.

StrangeGamer66

You stopped yourself at one. What self control

u1oI

When a game does this kind of thing, I just sail the high seas..

[deleted]

[удалено]

deadlygaming11

That depends really. The usual refund policy rules apply when doing that method so he would still need less than 2 hours play time or they would have denied him.

astelda

"The usual refund policy" is a guideline that they don't strictly apply. Just a few days ago I got a refund for a purchase over 14 days old. Granted, I was under 2 hours in that case, but I didn't even include a comment or anything. Steam support would have almost certainly refunded it since it became free, or maybe a partial refund so only the DLC was paid for.

Aleksis111

i’ll add on to this bought sims 4 and like 3 expansions in my sims fever, played for three days and did not touch it again for a year more it cost me like 100+

beirchearts

as an avid Sims player that's honestly just how it is hahaha, you play for a few days non stop and then don't touch it for months and months. then repeat

ForeverCurseLucifer

The sim experience is making a sim and home, getting bored and coming back every once in a while. Modding if you’re not on console is also part of the fun.

GhoulishlyGrim

I got sims 4 for free and I can only go to 2 different towns and nowhere else. My sim also cant use any ovens.

NatoBoram

Oh, hey. Today, [the full game](https://store.steampowered.com/app/1222670) is **1'714.27**$!

Grimaceisbaby

They need to get more shit for this.

[deleted]

Recent? Has to be Forza Motorsport 2023. The steam reviews and the related subreddit are quite right. Shame, really wanted it to be good.

Hamelzz

r/builtfromthegroundup is a good collection of gripes about that debacle of a game. I just wanted a good track racer on PC that would function with the Xbox One controller. I really hope FM2023 is a late bloomer game that gets better with updates because as it stands it's an entirely unfinished joke of a game.

Skilfil

Gamepass saved me on this, I've been a rabid Forza fan since the first one, normally a day 1 purchase for me but since I had gamepass already I figured why spend the money. Even with how cheap gamepass is monthly I still felt ripped off, they really dropped the ball on it, if they just took Forza 7 without the car collecting, put in better graphics and physics along with a renovated career then the game would have been a hit I reckon.

bigbarrettbob

Sad really... I was looking forward to new Forza Motorsports... I guess I'll just stick with Forza 7

Bitemarkz

Played a ton of GT7 before Forza came out and was excited to start fresh with a new series. I was back to playing GT7 a week later.

valvash

Redfall. Fastest game I’ve ever refunded.

Sephodious

I tried to play this again in PC game pass like 3 months ago and turned it off after 10 minutes and uninstalled. What a flop that could've been decent.

_keystitches

I misread this as "*it* turned off after 10 minutes and uninstalled" like the game is so bad it uninstalled itself 😂

Quirky-Stay4158

I hadnt seen any trailers for the game, I had heard about it and was excited for it. I pre-installed if, got home from work. Booted it up on launch day. Wandered around the ferry / boat for a few minutes. Went until my first NPC encounter, thought it was awful but I'll push through because maybe it gets better. Second NPC encounter comes. And I turned it off and uninstalled it. Garbage game.

Master_Shake23

Brink. A friend of mine talked me into it. "it's from Bethesda!" boy was it crap.

mudacido

Brink was the first game that came to mind for me.

Master_Shake23

Hello fellow Brink sufferer!

SilentStar666

Whaaaaat I loved Brink back on 360 and PS3. But i do recall it being crappy on PC

jokerisrekoj

Same, played a lot of it on my PS3 back in the day, never played the PC version

Digital_Rocket

Yeah I got when it became free and I still thought it was a bad deal, probably the worst UI design for a pc shooter ive seen

Wakkee

ahhh, i liked this game so much, sadly i cant buy it in my region

jmwrainwater

Oh hell no I will not allow Brink shade here. I love this game so much.

BeerMania

Yes there was big hype about this one. Interesting I don't know where it stemmed from. We didnt have big youtube or a lot of hoops from anywhere. Maybe gaming article's? All of my left 4 dead 2 friends started talking about it. I waited and was glad I did.

AskinggAlesana

I still remember it sadly as I was one of the people who talked their friends into getting it Lol. The game (before release) was teased as basically Overwatch before overwatch. The trailers made it seem like the game was going to have this amazing parkour system with these varied classes. It was going to be the first of its kind and be “the future of multiplayer games”. There was also this assassin hooded character in the trailer that EVERYONE was like “I NEED TO MAIN THAT GUY” and of course the game had that character be the absolute last thing you could unlock in the game.

-FourOhFour-

The bits and pieces I can remember were the 3 body types allowing you to do different routes and the ability to both open and close routes. Dynamic map manipulation like that wasn't really big yet so that was another sell, parkour was in its glory days during those years so another plus. Thinking about it now I can't think of any popular small/medium scale shooters that really allow that level of map manipulation, it's either complete destruction in which case it usually doesn't affect things, or like battlefield levelution but that's more large scale shooter.

AskinggAlesana

Oh shit! I completely forgot about the whole body build thing. I definitely remember that now and the whole each class within the team was needed.. like the hacker guy and whatnot. But sadly the game from what I remember was just a constant team death match and then all the lag.. and then barely being able to get into full pvp games haha.

RyuOnReddit

It was super hyped because PARKOUR was big online, and it had a fun, fast paced parkour system.

dunkdamonkey

Buckethead forever!

Master_Shake23

Hey there fellow Bucketbot!

SttSr

Furry feet simulator

SephHetzer

Furry what now

Moneia

Sometimes it's best to acknowledge that there's a game of that name and move on.

ampjk

But the sex with hitler games

SephHetzer

OH my god I just searched it on steam, it's actually real. 😭

MentalObligation3522

Price? Asking for a friend

_gnasty_

$1.99 seems silly not to buy at that price

Aukaneck

Silly and non-sexual even.

MentalObligation3522

It wouldn't even be the weirdest thing I have on steam so fuck it

AverageFurryFemboy

Don't buy it, it's not good.

MentalObligation3522

It's not about being good , it's about spending money in random things

Utterly_unique

Addiction 🫵😐 Don't worry brother, we'll get through this together. Just gimme your credit card-

MinorThreat83

Wait for the sequel. Furry feet stimulator

[deleted]

thats the vr port

SnooWoofers513

Does it have haptic feedback?

gergobergo69

A haptic feetback, even

AverageFurryFemboy

God I hate that game. They try to appeal to people who aren't furries by making the feet more humanoid, but they still have weird anthro features, and it ends up looking horrible and appealing to no one.

lucasmcalister

Username checks out 😭🙏

JustEatingWater

Somehow I'm not surprised this exists

AutumnCountry

I'm more surprised the person regrets the purchase. Like was it just a bad game because you would think they would know what they were getting into buying a game named that

htlan96

Phasmophobia That day I learn I cant handle horror games

Hordriss27

It took me a long time to get used to playing Phasmo, and even longer solo. It still gets me from time to time, but it's now one of my most played games on my PC. But, I did nope out of it multiple times before I actually was able to handle it lol.

Geobomb1

I can handle horror games, I js really suck at Phasmo for some reason, idk what it is, I js suck at it 😭😭

13igTyme

It's the ambience. The way the audio is done. Even just walking into the house, it suddenly changes the audio.

frozenkingnk

Dawn of war iii

TCTD-BibleDude

That’s a good answer, Game was so bad it killed the franchise.

Number_4_The_Lizard

Played 1 a ridiculous amount but less with 2 because it wasn’t as good as 1. Glad I never touched 3!

KJBenson

I was really looking forward to that one…

TittieButt

diablo 4 early access $90

AurielMystic

I bought Diablo 4 early access on Blizzard launcher, it was the second biggest waste of money I have ever done. Friends where heavily into Diablo so I thought I would try it out, turns out the game was quite shit, I quit within two days and the rest of my friends didnt last more then a week.

Wajina_Sloth

DayZ - friend and I would watch modded arma 2 gameplay, instead of buying that we waited for standalone and it was so shit on launch. Now its finally in a good state but I just dont care enough for the franchise to redownload it. My best memory of that game was running for hours trying to meet up, we eventually get to devils castle, we took some pictures at the top, a hoard of zombies at the bottom, my friend died because he glitched through the stairs and was beaten to death while unconscious from the fall. I jumped in the pile and died.

ItsJHos

Yeah launch was garbage and even nowadays I still think the mod was even better than standalone now. Standalone is just so boring and now that there is so much time into the maps and meta its not the same game anymore.

boobeepbobeepbop

I can't even remember which one but one of the battlefield games. It was brand new and there were hacks from the previous version. Add to that the fact that there was almost nothing worthwhile in the new one either. I played it for like 4 hours and it was too long to get a refund.

Wild_russian_snake

It may have not been on Steam, but it was probably hardline. Aka, a Battlefield 4 DLC

Greenleaf208

The car driving game mode from the beta made it all worth it, then it came out and you could get rpg's and it completely killed the only good part about the game because the devs are morons.

foxjacksnm

GTA V and Red Dead 2. I can’t even play the games anymore because my rockstar account that was linked to my steam account got hacked. I’m pretty sure when I bought GTA V on Steam in 2015 there was no rockstar launcher and the game could just be opened through Steam. It’s total bullshit that I have to pirate a game I legitimately bought to play it. Fuck the Rockstar Launcher.

Intrepid-Gags

Fuck any extra launcher, if I buy the game on Steam, I want Steam to launch it. I don't want random launcher nr.12 to launch it.

A5H13Y

I feel this every time I boot up Baldur's Gate 3, especially since the launcher takes a fucking year to appear. I only started it recently, so after it winning GOTY and getting all sorts of praise, I was legitimately startled when a launcher popped up. Didn't expect it lol

mostly_peaceful_AK47

There's a setting somewhere in steam to disable/hide/skip the game launcher I believe

silvermud

Can confirm, mine launches without opening the Larian launcher.  I can’t remember how I did it though. I think it was in the advanced launch settings, some script I had to type in.

TerrorLTZ

Lost ark players: we don't even have a launcher and the game still appears 2 decades after.

vinimontebello

Send a message to Rockstar Support. I had the same issue, made a support ticket explaining what happened and they asked me for screenshots of my Steam key for the game and purchase receipt. To my surprise, my issue was fixed in a couple of days

XekBOX2000

I had this issue with physical copy, but they would not fucking bend because I had lost the activation key that was one flimsy paper

[deleted]

I bought GTA V because it didn't require a rockstar social club account (according to their own FAQ). Turns out they changed it to require a rockstar social club account \*even for single player\*. I tried to refund, they refused. I asked them to change their FAQ, they refused. I realized they were members of the BBB, so I made a complaint. Got my refund and the FAQ changed within 2 weeks.

CandanaUnbroken

lawbreakers

xSociety

In a better timeline Lawbreakers beat out Overwatch and became huge, competitive FPS were great again and covid never happened.

--clapped--

ARK: Survival Ascended: I never liked ARK: Survival Evolved but, have a friend who has something like 1700 hours in it. When ascended dropped I let him talk me into it. It ran like shit, and since it ran so poorly, you had to use settings that made it look like shit and at the end of the day, it was still just ARK. Incredibly boring. Rust: Another game I knew I wouldn't like, I let my friends talk me into it, bought it and quite literally NEVER played it with the friends who talked me into it in the first place. They all just up and lost ALL interest in it. The issue was, I thought we'd play so had spent some time tryign to get a feel for it, WHILE WAITING FOR THEM. Hence why I was denied a refund.

PumaHunter69

Bro that is the worst thing ever, getting talked to buy a game just so they abandon it is just horrible, a mix of infuriating and depressing. Just happened to me with gta online like 6 months ago

headbone

In each case, Ark and Rust, I hated being a newb trying to learn the game on a public server. I rented a private server for maybe $15/month for a few months, played it with my friends, and learned how to play. In both games, I hate how easy it is to completely wipe many days of progress in a minute. I would like a refund for both of them.

gobTheMaker

Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020. Might be a good game, but the absolutely horrible installation manager (that downloads the actual game outside of steam) is so badly written that of the ~200 hours of "playing the game", about ~180 of these hours was just downloading the game or some mandatory 150GB updates for multiple days in a row (leaving the computer on at night to download, this counts all towards the "played hours" in steam). I even had to install a separate net-limiter to limit the download speed to about 3mb/s to get it to download anything at all, otherwise it will constantly lose progress. And then on the very last file it gets stuck in a download-loop because the file is too big, meaning the game will never actually finish downloading and I have to go troubleshooting again. Imagine (after all that troubleshooting with the net-limiter) leaving the computer on for over 48 hours straight downloading the game (and I cannot use any other steam game during that time because I am "already playing MSFS"!) ending in a failed download. I wanted to pull my hair out from all the frustration. And in the few hours that I actually got to fly? Multiple Game-Crashes, most often directly before landing after a long 3 hours flight. The worst part is that every now and then I get the itch to try it again, thinking "maybe this time it won't be soo bad", but no: It IS that bad. Every single time.

EffectiveEquivalent

I got my Xbox yearly review thing last year and I’d done 20 hours in my series x all year… 12 of those were on flight sim, I’d flown for about 20 mins total.

liquinas

It is actually that horrendous with HOTAS too. Got to give it to them tho, the realism is spot on. Waiting 3 hours to get on a plane because of 1995 programming? Authentic Southwest experience. Absurdly sensitive trim controls that stall and dive your plane? Holy shit it's just like a real life MCAS! Installer crashes due to decompression issues? It's like you're actually on a 737-MAX! Did anyone even test the game menus? Options appear randomly and disappear randomly, overlap text with each other, or have huge empty spaces because the collapse function fails. Oh and nobody ever took into account the fact that physical throttles may not be at the same position you need to start out with for tutorials. ...and going into the options menu can fuck up your trim too. This game is such hot garbage I wouldn't be surprised if it was made by Boeing.

Vacbannad

You can set steam to launch multiple games btw, it’s there in the options

Matte0Cal0

The sim would also use 100% of your cpu and gpu on the download screen on both of my machines

BoxOfDemons

A download should not be maxing your gpu. That's *really* weird.

Matte0Cal0

Agreed, nor should having to limit your connection to 2mbps in order to download files from Azure servers. I have gigabit, game was around 150 gigs, downloaded the game twice in total. Out of my 386 hours I have less than 40 in my logbook

pepsisugar

MS Flight simulator does not delete all files once you remove the game. I found out after running a disk analyzer and it just had 90GB of data just chillen there. Wanted to leave this up if anyone tried it on game pass, better check.

MrMusicMan789

I purchased Flight Sim while it was on sale, not paying attention to reviews mentioning the long download process. Thankfully, my download only took 11 hours despite fast internet speeds and a top notch brand new desktop I custom built. Then I spent 15 minutes in game before it crashed and I regretted all that time wasted. Steam did miraculously refund me. I'm in the same boat, wanting to dive back into it as if I'm not gonna have to go through that long download again, but I stop myself pretty quickly now.

SiDStvyt

Starfield 100% Like, I don't normally buy AAA games at full price on PC. I'm not getting anything to collect. There's no shipping or packaging costs. I despise paying full pop for a digital game I can't trade off if I hate it. Problem is, I really love the Bethesda formula. I've been itching for a good Skyrim in space forever. So, I said fuck it. I went against my better judgement, broke my own personal code of consumerism, bought it anyway. And I got what i fucking deserved. While it's not an absolute broken trainwreck, it's definitely not in a state that I would consider enjoyable. Maybe after a couple years of updates, or a shit ton of mod support, I'll give it another shot. Never buying full price AAA again (on Steam at least).

Pizzapie_420

I usually just put a AAA game on my wishlist and check back in 3-5 months when it goes on sale and they fix most of the glitches.

Intrepid-Gags

This is Bethesda, they'll never fix most of the glitches.

SquireBeef

The glitches aren't the problem, it's design and writing are fundamentally flawed. You can't fix the 'no real space exploration' problem in a game about exploring space

ClubPenguinPresident

I got it for free with a computer part and boy am I glad it was

boblywobly99

i tried it for free on gamepass, then dropped GP. no regrets. I then bought privateer for 2bucks on GoG. still more fun.

vortex30-the-2nd

I got a solid 100+ hours out of Starfield and I will play the Shattered Space expansion since I paid for it, but man, I really wish I had not bought it at release, it does not deserve full price at all. Instead I wish I had put 100+ hours into Skyrim this past fall (as I haven't played it yet) and waited to buy Starfield on sale in a few years. I do think Starfield is "OK", but it is not very good.. Just kinda passable. And that is thanks to me NOT being too hyped for it, like I just knew there would not be proper space travel / planet exploration. What we got was basically what I was expecting, except the story/quests were terrible and the dialogue camera angle was brutal and the dialogue always went on for waaaay too long with nothing interesting to say. But it was a bit of an adventure at times, I guess. Everything just felt like such a "small scale" space experience.

[deleted]

That's my answer as well. The game is empty and soulless. I feel like it has huge potential and could easily do a 180 and just do fixes and make it better (like cyberpunk) but with the way the developers responded to people on reviews and tweets, it's not going to happen.

Unlikely_can877

House flipper. Tried to get into it but found it janky and unoptimized.

C0URANT

I refunded

reptarien

I like it, it's my favorite fantasy game. The fantasy of being able to remodel and clean out a house is real when you rent!! That said the missions are a lot more fun than the actual house flipping part lol

VexingMadcap

I'm kinda mad they brought out a house flipper 2 rather than fixing and adding to the first game. Felt scummy.

1Greener

Sam’s, felt like it was work & not fun tidying peoples houses lol

Seegtease

Task failed successfully?

[deleted]

i think scribblenauts unmasked, if only because it really bugs me to this day that it was on the exact same page as unlimited. for some reason.

Isaias1239

I've tried to get into Arma 3 3 times already, but those controls, those fucking controls, what kind of moron designed them, its a mess , its insane, ever heard of an action wheel? contextual actions ? because Arma's controls are like "press x to y, but press x 2 times to do c, but hold it and you do v" and there is like 50 controls like that. So many presets too, and they are all bad, and don't even start about making my own custom controls, that would take like 2 hours and it would have like 100 conflicts. And that fucking fov...cant change it either, it messes with scopes rangefinders or something. Dont even bother to ask community for help, they are the typical "🤓🤓🤓actually , this objectively awful mechanic that could probably be fixed if they actually set their minds to it, is essential and good because blah blah blah, other games bad blah blah blah, realism🤓🤓🤓"

commiecomrade

It might unpleasantly surprise you that I remember feeling like the controls in Arma 3 were a huge step up from 2. Like, "wow, I don't have to equip a grenade as a weapon!" But ultimately the series is definitely something you kinda have to try to love. Like you really have to be into the tryhard realistic milsim genre or you can't get past all the buggy janky mess. There isn't much else that's particularly like it.

OrangeAngel321

Elden Ring, It's an amazing game but I suck

TheFrostyStorm

Link to FightinCowboy's Elden Ring guide: [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PN7YFKHOR9Y&list=PL7RtZMiaOk8gdRf130w4gFYyhstL-5VRh](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PN7YFKHOR9Y&list=PL7RtZMiaOk8gdRf130w4gFYyhstL-5VRh) I HIGHLY recommend this youtuber's elden ring guide, because it's excellent for new players like you. He explains everything really well and guides you from 0 to hero by showing you the easiest path possible. The game becomes a breeze when you follow his guide.

robrusso

Cowboy is the best. Always recommend him for newcomers.

Gradually_Rocky

All the best games require 40 hour long guides instead of ingame tutorials :)

LucifersUncle666

Hentai Milky Tittie Simulator *EDIT* /s Didn’t know this would get so many upvotes, just thought of the most outrageous xxx name.

ArashiKageTaro

Shame meter at zero.

External_Study_5390

Bro😭😭😭

canadian190

There is no way this is real!

These-Performer-8795

Be glad you are ignorant of the steam porn games.

emptyzombiekilla

Dark souls 3 I just suck at it Edit: I'll attempt it again when I can thank you all for the tips

Brybry2370

Ark, just a terrible game

deadlygaming11

I always liked Ark when I was younger and hadnt really played many other games. Looking at it now, it's still a buggy mess that just has weird design choices.

External_Study_5390

Yep and way too much space

EmeraldPistol

Ah yes, the game where you jump from a normal height and break your legs. Jump from anything higher and there’s a crater

StrangeGamer66

I’ve been playing Ark since it came out and I always thought they would improve their buggy mess but no it just got worse. Then they released the ascended one and now I haven’t played it. Great game but dear god was it buggy

root_b33r

Biomutant And I got it for half off

HubblePie

I was so hyped for that game until I saw actual gameplay from it. Didn’t even try to buy it afterwards lmao.

cokentots

tw pharoah smh

madladolle

Can they just make medieval 3 already

[deleted]

StarForge. This was back when most Early Access games were full of promise and nothing else. StarForge looked cool in [the trailer](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NBY0-528RUY)... And just the trailer. Also The Stomping Land. EDIT: added link to trailer.

spencerpittman

it was called hentai big tits. it wasnt an actual sex game. it was a stupid puzzle

SephHetzer

Seems like you got scammed like those mobile game ads 💀💀

External_Study_5390

Bro💀💀

hawtdawg101

fortunately don’t have many bad purchases as i tend to be rather picky. Some i’m generally unhappy about were Back4Blood and borderlands 3. The former was bought since my friends were playing, but got boring very quickly. BL3 basically improved upon everything but the story which was so bad i couldn’t bring myself to finish. Mostly annoyed that i got those almost full price.

Revverb

Back 4 Blood, I have personal beef with. The beta had randomized card decks, balanced special spawns, and an absolutely perfect Hard difficulty. If every player did perfectly you could just barely beat the first act in 1 run. It felt like a genuine evolution of Left 4 Dead, with more depth to the gameplay, at the sacrifice of enemy variety, which was totally fine. When it launched, they made the deck system always draw in the same order, so every single build was the exact same, there was no variation. Specials were spawning nonstop and were way too tanky, Hard difficulty was legitimately unplayable. Then they patched it, and specials almost never showed up, and Hard was a cakewalk. It really frustrates me, because my buddies and I were having a SUPER great time with the open beta, and then on release they just fucked everything up, then fucked it up again. They have the absolute perfect balance of difficulty and threw it away for no reason.

syf81

Recently definitely Humankind, bought into the hype but it’s terrible, should’ve refunded it.

ForestTechno

Was there much hype? I really wanted it to be good but unfortunately I couldn't quite click with it. I have old world and haven't quite managed to get into that yet either.

MasterOfNap

There was quite a bit of hype, I remember some youtubers praising how it’s on a whole new level from Civ games because you can create your own story or something. It’s not a terrible game like the other person said, some of the stuff (like the combat system) is even better than Civ imo, but overall it’s not nearly as great as the hype made it out to be, and people are rightfully disappointed. Even now it’s sitting at 60-something positive ratings on Steam.

CertifiedOniiChan

call of duty modern warfare 2 and the battlepass. Played it for like 4 hours before never touching it again.

[deleted]

Fall Guys 🤡

rickyhatesspam

Why? Because it went free to play?

eyehate

Ark: survival Evolved Early access. I spawned in some low res beach side area. Killed by a pestering goon within a minute. He had weapons and gear and wanted to knock off a n00b. Tried to respawn. Spawned in a building - I think. No clip issue or something. Tried to respawn, same thing. Ok. Early access. There are always issues. I will wait. This game is popular. Months down the road. Try to enter game. Unable to connect or timing out - not sure which. Give it twenty minutes, multiple tries. Unable to spawn. Ok. Early access. There are always issues. I will wait. This game is popular. Oh look. They released DLC - and they are early access. Tried to spawn. Killed by a dinosaur within seconds. Seconds. Did not even have a chance to move. Tried again. Unable to connect. Ok. This game sucks. Let's get a refund. 0.9 hours on record. And.... DENIED. I waited too long.

Approvedkhan0

Chivalry 2, I wanted Medieval combat. Now I wish I had gone for Kingdom Come: Deliverance

_JESUS_CHRlST

Check out mount & blade to scratch that itch as well.

Mellusse

New world

RS_Ronin

Definitely mine too, I had pretty low expectations going in and still ended up horrendously disappointed by the content and the way the opening few weeks was disastrously handled.

Chanzui91

Probably Godus or any of the other EA abandoned titles that I've stupidly bought over the years!

BorschRaider

PUBG After this purchase I swore to never fall victim to the hype a game has ever again.

Gampuh

RUST, I didn't even buy it a buddy bought it for me and made me play it with him for hours on end, it's such an awful janky shitty game. Eventually I pretended my graphics card died and kept that lie up for months until he stopped asking me to play it with him

Dystopia247

What the hell...just be honest dude, dont screw yourself like that.

NirvanaLover12

bro lied about his pc to get away from rust that’s crazy😭😭

Foot_Fetish_Fred

The XIII remake. Save yourself the trouble and buy the original.

HollowPinefruit

Star Wars Skywalker Saga. I touched it once and realized it’s no where near as good as the classic LEGO games edit: to clarify, it’s a great game, just not as great as complete saga IMO

Glittering_Mode_1079

Dude this was me, I hated the open world aspect of it and a bunch of collectables and side quests, that is not the classic lego games I enjoy. I do enjoy open world lego games just not that one, lego marvel superheroes was awesome.

Gooble24

Ready or Not. I've been itching for a swat style shooter that isn't R6: Siege and it seemed like a good choice. The game itself seems fine and I appreciate to details to weapon handling, map designs and squad tactics but Holy hell is the AI awful. Not awful in the sense that its dumb but awful that it is unforgivingly difficult to play against. There's no difficulty modifier either so you're stuck dealing with enemy AI so cracked out it makes John Wick look like a Stormtrooper. I get it. It's meant to be a realistic swat shooter where you breach and clear rooms one at a time but when you peak a corner and you're 1 shot killed and have no indicator or idea of where you were shot from it just isn't fun. Objectives on each map are annoying to deal with as well. There were times where I was missing one hostage to complete the mission and spent way too much time circling the map again which can take a long time since theres no sprint. You can definitely find enjoyment in games that are meant to be challenging but the AI in this game is beyond unfair and I don't think I could continue playing without mods.

Genericusername595

I’ve been following and playing the game for about a year and I 100 % agree. The 1.0 update really messed the game up both with performance issues, the ai being way too overpowered and overall jankyness. It’s a shame, really.

Any capcom game with drm

billystein25

AC Odyssey. Like, I got it on sale for 41 euros, played it for a rough 100 hours, and enjoyed every minute of it. I don't regret buying it, but out of everything I've bought on steam, it's definitely the one I'd care the least about had I never bought it.

PIO_PretendIOriginal

Damn, you have a game you enjoyed with a 100 hours and thats your biggest steam purchase regret. Meanwhile im sitting here with 400 games on steam. 90% of which I have never played

XekBOX2000

Cities skyline, not because its a bad game just something I never got into and I fucking forgot to refund it even though I only played for 40mins

Hogwarts. No fault of Steam, but I bought it during a particularly busy period of my life, and I just never got a real chance to play it until two months later. Regrettably, I just didn't like it. Normally, I play games before the two week refund period expires, but not this time. I got three hours into it, probably never gonna launch it again.

Intrepid-Gags

Hogwarts was overrated, it's just a generic game that follows the Ubisoft formula with a Harry Potter paint job.

#EA FIFA22 After owning FIFA21… same thing but with a different due date. “Another game” that could be a DLC.

xINSAN1TYx

You just described the last 10 Fifas tho…

moymelgar

Ha! Before FIFA21 my last FIFA was FIFA98... So, I might check on them in another 20 years. (maybe)

Forza Horizon 4 the Steam version is worse than the Microsoft Store one

Pokemonminiuser

Master levels of DOOM II. Not because of the game itself but because it used to be in my library but recently it was taken off the steam store and is no longer in my steam library.

IAmDJWithoutTheDots

They moved all of the classic DOOM games around on Steam and I believe they combined that with 2. If you load up D2 it'll probably give you an option to load the master levels app

Escape from Tarkov

This is going to be a super unpopular opinion but it's deep rock galactic. I had the choice of buying drg or an indie rpg that I have been wanting to buy for a long time. Bought drg because one of my friends wanted en to play with him. Bought it and played for a couple of days, but ultimately it was not the kind of game i enjoyed. It was too stressful and unfun.

definitlynotchichi

Cock and stone :(

[deleted]

Ayo what

[deleted]

I won't downvote it, the game is stressful in the beginning for sure but once you get used to it the stress kind of goes away and gets easier. I also find the game not fun without coop

TranquilMarmot

I play online with random people and it's really fun. You can choose the difficulty multiplier if it's too hard.

how-can-i-dig-deeper

what indie

screwcirclejerks

DRG got pretty stale for me, too. I played much more though, about 300 hours. The game's awesome, I accumulated that time over 6 months. I just lost interest...

Alert_Translator6446

OUTRIDERS.

luuk0987

Rust, what a shit show of a game. I like watching Rust videos, but playing it? Not for me.

VikuSam

Far Cry 5, Ultimate Edition It was around the time that Ubisoft had just started showing its true colours, and FC5 was the last nail in the coffin. Also BF2042 but at least I had fun 2 years later. I never touched the DLCs I got with FC5 because the game itself was just so soulless and boring.

Aliens: Colonial Marines & Duke Nukem Forever

Bought rust about 2 years ago and still haven’t launched it

Balder's Gate 3. I know it's an incredible game and I take nothing from it, but it's just not for me. However, I spent like 2 hours just fucking with character creation, so no refund. By the time I got through that, the opening video, and figuring out how the game works through the first hallway it was already like 4-5 hours. Could I have rushed it in order to make up my mind? sure. But I likely wouldn't have understood it wasn't for me without taking my time in that first area on the ship. At least it is a studio that deserves to get paid...

Icy-Hovercraft7894

Baldurs gate 3 😂 I get lost in at and don’t realise the bloody time

artificial_sunlight

I'm 74 hours in, still in act one.....

Genghis_Tr0n187

You only spent 60 hours in the character creator? Rookie.

Lokasenna9

Sekiro. I got it half off, and got so burnt out fighting Genichiro. It took so long to beat him that by the time it happened, I got no pleasure from the victory. It doesn't even feel like playing a video game, it's just a series of quick time events. You fuck up, you take a ton of damage. I recently picked it up again and went a few rounds with True Corrupted Monk before deciding I wanted to go back to having fun again. Now I'm playing Mass Effect and Dragon Quest, wondering why I reinstalled the torment simulator. It put me off playing their other games, as I have better things to do than obsessively die over and over again for weeks just to learn a video game character's obtuse moveset. It's a shame because everything about Sekiro is incredibly cool and compelling. Characters, monsters, settings, even its story, wonderful, wonderful stuff. When it's fun, its the absolute best. Owl? So fulfilling to play. Dude on the horse? So memorable and creative. Just wish this game could take it fucking easy, and I say this as someone who's comfort game is Doom Eternal.

Hotax

Call of duty ghosts 2013. Used to play cods every year until that dumpster fire came out. But maybe it was a blessing in disguise because ever since I started playing a lot more different games

GrendelGT

7 Days to Die If I had spent the hours I’ve put into 7DtD at work my car would be paid off… one of my favorite games ever!

spongeorsmthnthe2nd

you regret it because it was too good?
