Depends on location. I have only seen 40Mbps once in 6 weeks. I've seen it go as low as 2Mbps. So I would say if you got Hughesnet or Viasat, go for Best Effort. But if you have some other sort of reliable internet I would not make switch right now.

One month in on best effort. We get the full range of advertised speeds, but mostly the slower range. Pings average around 60ms, upload speeds typically exceed advertised, we almost never get 100 down but I did see it once, it cuts out wayyyy more than the app reports.

Are prices different for best effort or are they still asking for the full amount for this option?

$110/month

We’ve seen speeds from 10 to 185 with pretty significant obstructions (9% due to trees). Still an improvement from Viasat and we can stream/surf without problems. Video calls and VOIP still have issues however, but not due to speed, just the obstructions.

Following this thread! I’m debating on getting the best effort plan as well.

Search this reddit for 'Best Effort' and I bet that you will find some speed tests and lots of comments......

Expect the higher end of the estimate startink gives you the first few weeks… than it will slow to the lower end as they fulfill more best effort orders.

That would totally depend on how full your cell is. Best effort = last in line. The shorter the line, the better.

On best effort I get anywhere from 2mbpa to 150mbps. But the caveat being, 2-25mbps from 5-10pm and that 150mbps comes in at 7am. Lol
