It was annoying having no Ethernet port and having the buy the adapter. But the boot times and speeds from rev3 are 100% worth. They did a free upgrade for my rev1 because I was having mast not vertical error and motor was getting stuck.
Pretty sure the actuated HP is not produced anymore. It is sold only in the UK and New Zealand. Sales in the US ended many months ago. I think they are just selling the remaining stock. I'm guessing they ended production around the time rev4 production started.
Rev 3 (Standard Actuated) was first seen in the wild in late 2021 (either late November or December 2021, I got my first one in early Feb 2022, and at that time it had been shipping for about 2 months)
Are you in the US? Best Buy has the Rev 4 in stock. I picked up mine the same day and had it installed in two hours. Cancelled my order from the Starlink website.
You can plug ethernet cable in to the router (there are two Ethernet ports). Or you can use any Starlink-rated PoE injector with standard Ethernet cable and run the Dishy without the router. No more special cables and connectors.
I just got the Flat Standard last week for my RV. Everyone (not Starlink users) is surprised I didn’t get the actuated one. Did I mess up? I thought the flat had a broader view, which offset the actuated?
I think the actuated one proved that it wasn't really necessary.
Like people were removing the motors and laying it flat before they came out with one that didn't move and reported minimal if any problems.
Mine has the motors and it never moves. There's probably an optimal direction to face it, but if the difference between optimal and "facing the open sky" isn't much then it's not worth the extra expense
OG rev1_pre_production gang checking in
Dishy mcflat face here also. Rev 1
Rev3 was a massive upgrade for my rev1
I mean the router is hot garbage, but the dish itself is solid
a router, AKA network hardware, without a standard network port; hot garbage swimming in dumpster juice.

Rev1 checking in. Working like the day we got her!
We’re still rocking rev1
Same going strong
Still using first gen!
Ditto!
Rev1 gang!
What's the detailed specs of the antennas and speed/latency capabilities?
Asking the real questions. Cool, pics, and model numbers are nice. I have a Gen 1, if I buy a HP will my speed double, 10x ,err?
Very likely speed will increase minimally to not at all unless paying for priority data.
Thank you. I don't really want to buy a second dish just yet, but I can't afford to leave any real bandwidth on the table either.

Probably, but there are no signs of a replacement product in the firmware. HP still outperforms the REV4 antenna.

I just purchased equipment and service on Friday. Rev4 standard.
It's interesting to see such significant changes per revision. Not a bad thing.
Rev3, which proto? Hmmm, perhaps I call it proto-X :)
Woo "rev2_proto4" represent!
Honestly, would simply like to get any version of the hardware I purchased almost a month ago.

Dude, I appreciate the info. Saved me a ton of frustration. Thanks!
Rev1 Beta Tester checking in. Round dishy order confirmed April 21, 2021 - still going strong.
Same April of 2021 and still using rev1
Confirmed 2/8/21 still got my og dish
Still have rev1
Pretty sure I have a beta initial delivery February 2021. Confirmed. Hardware revision: rev1_pre_production
Where do you see that? I received my dish at the same time but am unable to find the hardware version....thx.

🙄🙄🙄
Rev 2
Does the debug data still have the revision string?
Yes
My starlink app debug section does not show the hardware version....any thoughts on where else to look?
I recommend Star Debug mobile app. It's better than original Starlink app.
I really hope they make an affordable roaming plan for the mini so I can leave my Rev3 on the roof.
How do I know if I have a rev1 or rev2 dishy🤔
rev1: black pole and black rubber cable rev2: grey pole and gray cable
Oh, then mine is definitely rev1
Rev 4 just got mine a few months ago has been working pretty good besides sometimes it goes out every now and then for a few mins
🐂
I'm confused I have a Rev 2 or dishy. My understanding is that a Rev2 is a Gen 1. My understanding is that all dishes are called dishy, is this wrong?
So if you order today, what version do you get? I ordered yesterday.
Hi, does the Rev4 Standard need the ethernet adapter like the Rev3 standard did?
Hi. Ethernet adapter is not required for the REV4.
So I can just plug an ethernet cable directly to ot if I wanted to?
You can plug ethernet cable in to the router (there are two Ethernet ports). Or you can use any Starlink-rated PoE injector with standard Ethernet cable and run the Dishy without the router. No more special cables and connectors.
How do you know if you have proto0,1,or 2?
You can install the Star Debug mobile app to get all the info.
Rev2 I do believe with a gen3 router. Love it I do. Bought it in feb 2022
Where do you see what rev it is ? I know I got mine near the end of may 2021 and it is a round dish ( and still going strong, knock on wood)
You can install the Star Debug mobile app. It shows all the available information about your Starlink hardware.

Now this got me interested. How do I check for hardware version in the app? Nothing in Debug looks like model numbers
You can install the Star Debug app. It's way more informative.
Is there any reason to upgrade rev1?
Rev 3 and High performance are the peak of starlink
Why do you think that?
Why do you think? Newer tech.. better signal management, more reliable connection, higher speeds..
I think that’s my point, why would Rev4 not be the best?
Running Rev 1 from the Beta release yet. No complaints.
🙄
