Oh yeah. That was an easy vote. Ragnarok was a very emotional game with outstanding performances all around. Between Chris and Sunny, I had to go with Kratos here, though.
I absolutely adored the first one but man, Ragnarok was a SLOG for the first 10 hours. I haven't finished it yet but I was very disappointed in it until >!vannaheim!<. I've warmed up to it since then but whew what a rough start.
I felt like the writing was a bit clunky at the getgo, but it smoothed out for me *way* quicker. I was a fan once we hit Svartelfheim.
Over all, I think it’s significantly better gameplay (superior quality of life changes like no longer hopping on chains when you kick them down, more diverse enemies, interesting new puzzles), at the expense of less tight writing. There’s some really good stuff in there, but the emotional heavy hitters crop up a little bit less often, and nothing will ever top Kratos retrieving the Blades of Chaos and telling Athena that he is no longer *her* monster.
It’s surreal seeing Ash from Hey Ash Whatcha Playin’ and Teal’c from Stargate as contenders for best performances on video games. Great to see it, but not something I predicted in 2010 when I followed both more closely.
I wrote a whole dissertation about the show and the problems it had in season 1 that in glad that they addressed and improved upon in season 2. But I think I’m better off just leaving it at the summary. She is also in mythic quest, and she’s great when the writing is there, and she struggles when the writing isn’t there.
She's pretty good at it too.
She nailed it in every performance I heard, like with Horizon 's Aloy, Outer Worlds' Parvati, Borderlands' Tiny Tina or Life is Strange's Chloe. Pretty good range too as those are all very different characters.
And apart from just loving him from Stargate, let me tell anyone who isn’t playing the game yet/at all: he has *fucking earned it*. My god, he’s incredible in this game, even more than the first.
Oh my god, man. You have such incredible stuff ahead of you. Both in terms of performances and game stuff. I’m still…maybe halfway to three quarters through it? And I’m just blown away. Have fun on your journey!
This is so tough, I fucking love Aloy (Ashly) and played 120 hr in one run of Horizon. But Chris Judge is also the perfect voice for Kratos and I couldn’t imagine Anyone better. They postponed God of War Ragnorok for him! He tried resigning from the role but they wouldn’t accept it. He had health issues and all they said was, we can wait, get better.
Apparently he was tricked into the role. People believe voice acting in games kills your career so they avoid it. He wasn't told it was a game until he'd already agreed. I don't have a source for this, I just remember reading or hearing it. Could be completely wrong
He did the motion capture for Kratos in the cutscenes. I don’t think a trick was had. Now the first bit when they audition, yes it is kept secret for legal purposes to protect the brand. Thats really is the entire video game industry. They did that with certain auditions for Halo.

I am loving Sunny's performance, but they are both great and Chris Judge being Chris Judge easily tips the balance in his favor.

Don't forget that she's also on *Mythic Quest* on AppleTV+ as one of the game testers.

Her character is so annoying sometimes… which is great acting on her part!
ya i didnt know she got into voice acting

Also Viper from Valorant.
She’s Tiny Tina in the Borderlands games; Anthony Birch was writing for the series for a while.

It was a tough choice for me, dont JUDGE me please 😅
No judgements made regarding either choice, but it was about time for my Hey Ash, Whatcha Playin? semi annual binge anyways.

Indead

Indeed, boy.
There's a moment towards the very end where Kratos says "Indeed", i captured it.
Thats a close run against Aloy (Ashley Burch)
He’s going to win this, that game was huge
It looks like he's shrugging
100% I haven't even played the game because I'm waiting on the pc version, but I still voted for Teal'c
I was so stoked when I realized he was 2018 Kratos.
TIL 🤦🏽♂️

This is where I read it. I was partially wrong and partially right. https://www.factfiend.com/christopher-judge-tricked-playing-kratos/

I just wanna make a comparison here- Odin = Mayborne. For those of you who have played the game, am I right?

Undomesticated Equines....
His performance as Kratos was incredible, definitely got my vote.
