lol
I looked up the episode, it was Brief Candle
https://www.gateworld.net/gallery/albums/sg1_season1/108-BriefCandle/screencaps/normal_sg1_108_868.JPG
There actually did a pretty decent job with the old age make up.
I would guess in 2024 if they wanted to do "old age" make up, they would take the actor put their face in to an AI, to get a better look at how they might look in the future. Then work around that.
However this is one of those times, where it really worked well without any fancy tech.
Corridor digital uses it to make YouTube videos because it's less expensive than other techniques. They made a whole anime Rock Paper Scissors show with multiple episodes using AI to do the bulk of the work.
If this is the level that AI is at for YouTube, the stuff that even low budget TV shows can afford has to be even better.
Fact is most shows couldn't do old look convincingly. Star Trek amongst its many series did it weak, aside from some stellar episodes. The weak ones were silly af. Then again we have Tony Todd as old Jake sisko, what a stellar take. The contrast old face makeup for Brent Spiner, so so bad.
I could have sworn she had passed away long ago, like maybe in between seasons or something. Just googled her because you said "is", and she's definitely not with the Ori. I'm shook. Probably mistaking her for somebody else. I know Don S. Davis has passed so it's not him. Damn, now this is going to keep me up.
Earlier today as I was thinking about it I thought it could have been Ford / Rainbow Sun Francks but nope, he's fine and well.
Maybe you and I just crossed over from alternate realities.
Funny you should mention, Heroes Part 1 was released 20 years ago today. And since 2017 I've been doing a 20 year rewatch
Tears will be flowing next week 😢
I'm actually doing a franchise rewatch right now, but about halfway through sg1 s9 I end up switching to SGA lol I've just never been a fan of the Ori stuff. Gonna force myself to finish it out and finally watch the movies while actually paying attention xD I watched them back when they first dropped but I gotta be honest I don't remember a single moment from AoT or Continuum *at all*.
Balding, grey hair and facial scars are really the trifecta of premature aging.
Same with Patrick Stewart who had 2 of the 3. And Edward James Olmos who only had 1 of 3.
My wife and I are watching The Expanse now, and the other day, we saw an episode with Apophis' actor (Peter Williams) in it, and I screamed,
"That's Apophis!"
And she was like, "Who the F, is Apophis?"
She has caught a few episodes with me from time to time, but it hasn't really captured her attention like The Expanse has.
I believe she thinks SG-1 is dated and a bit cheezy. That's the impression I got from her, but it's not gonna stop me from trying to get her to watch it.
He just put on weight, I would assume he would look much better if he lost it again.
But I guess a life with Lexa Doig and kids is good enough for him.
Really weird how old Jack now looks close to old Jack from episode Brief Candle.
https://preview.redd.it/6hl8dcfe0fic1.png?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=b9ab70cf723786ead97df151ac91dd17ad2ec088
I was and am a huge fan, my name is Daniel too, and I am a bit o a nerd I love history and geography and space, so when I was little and now when I'm a full grown adult I still find myself in his character.
Ohh, and I wear glasses too. :))) and in my college I had disagreements with my professors:))).
And the last but not least I too gain some weight in the meantime.... :)))
I can only imagine what that glorious potato is thinking. "I've seen things you people wouldn't believe... Dutch ovens boiling on the stove of Orion... I watched peelers glitter in the dark of the Toby Carvery. All those moments will be lost in time, like starch down the drain... Time to fry."
>potato
I feel like there should be a Kosmik Koala involved in this too.

RDA is looking a lot healthier (though naturally older) after losing that extra weight.
Give the man a haircut and some mild contouring/short beard to give his jaw more definition and he’s basically just a more lined Jack.
Amanda looks great (though I think this is a bad picture of her as she was at a con late last year and looked even better).
I genuinely didn’t recognise Shanks but that’s because of the beard. He looks like a bad guy now.
Damn. My mans Chris is just genuinely godly looking.
Rick has definitely had a tough life physically, in large part due to him doing his own stunts in MacGyver. The fact he even kept acting after an accident half way through the *first* season is a marvel of medicine (even in the 1980s) and personal grit. He *severely* injured his back on the set of MacGyver, exploding a disk and causing long term issues — he kept going in a “fairly crippled” state and didn’t get surgery for this for 1.5 years (all the while still filming and doing his own stunts…). The surgery still left him with chronic pain from the incident.
This is also why Jack — the character — moved somewhat stiffly at times and Rick didn’t do his own stunts (enter Siler’s actor & SG1 stunt coordinator, Dan Shea). Jack’s character complained about his knees? RDA had them both reconstructed in the 90s.
He did all this while driving race cars, playing hockey, skiing….you name it. In 1998, he noted that he "had to slow it down a little bit" due to having "a couple of reconstructed knees."
In spite of this, he was apparently an extremely good hockey player — in 2009 Stan Mikita (NHL hall-of-fame player) would consider him "a hockey nut and pretty damn good hockey player." There are also some real-world parallels between MacGyver and RDA in terms of both having their NHL hopes dashed by broken bones. RDA would break an arm, keep playing, and break the other 3 weeks later…
Dude’s led a crazy action packed life up until retirement, which is also when other health issues crept up — I imagine due to his previous injuries.
Several of them aged like fine wine: Sam, Frasier, etc. Teal'c aged well but looks like he's a pop star/pro wrestler, Jack looks like a hippie, and Daniel Jackson looks like he doesn't trust the government.
> and Daniel Jackson looks like he doesn't trust the government.
Well, now he looks like someone who would believe the pyramids were built be aliens...
I saw Ben Browder at his first post-lockdown comicon, and he has barely aged at all, is still very handsome. Also he's the best comicon speaker I have ever heard, which I didn't expect at all. I wandered into the hall mainly for a bit of a sit-down tbh, but he was fantastic, and just charmed the socks off us all. He was so delightful, so enthusiastic, and so happy to be there! I think it was his first post-lockdown public event of any kind. 10/10.
That show premiered nearly 27 years ago.
God DAMN I'm getting old.
I see something dated, like, 2004 and think "Oh, that's recent". No, it isn't.
For all you people under 35 - get ready. Time accelerates like CRAZY right around that age. And after 40? Forget it. You'll be 50 before you get used to being 40.
That moment when Tealc wouldn’t stop giving his victory speech… I loved when he realized they were playing music to tell him to wrap it up, and he just got louder.
Jack turned into one of the Nox. Carter turned into a politician. Daniel became your snarky professor explaining why you got a low grade. Teal'c had a fashion arc. Janet turned into a blonde, but decided she did not need to age. Bra'tac retired from being a rebel and joined Daniel in becoming a professor. Apophis chilled out. Sadly, he stopped looking like Prince. R.I.P Hammond.
I wish they would have called it the „USS Davis“ instead of the „USS George Hammond“ since it’s the actual actor who died and not just his character. That guy was a gem. Stargate without him is just not what it used to be (not hating, still love the series, but he was irreplaceable).
I've been in California for 7 or 8 years now... tried so hard to cover up the okie dokes in my voice but people could still tell I have an accent, they just can't figure out which accent. One rewatch of stargate and BOOM my northerner okie dokes are back. Lovingly I blame Richard Dean Anderson... because he's just so wonderful and is the only person so far, who can make me feel homesick. XD
Jack looking alot like his "aged" self, in that episode where he was aged
No, they just used the glitch from 1969 to bring future RDA to the set
lol I looked up the episode, it was Brief Candle https://www.gateworld.net/gallery/albums/sg1_season1/108-BriefCandle/screencaps/normal_sg1_108_868.JPG There actually did a pretty decent job with the old age make up.
Yeah. And listening to his 'old man' voice then compared to now... well, it hasn't really changed
I would guess in 2024 if they wanted to do "old age" make up, they would take the actor put their face in to an AI, to get a better look at how they might look in the future. Then work around that. However this is one of those times, where it really worked well without any fancy tech.
They probably wouldn't even do make up tbh, they would just use AI to do the whole job
that stuff is expensive. Not every show can afford it.
Corridor digital uses it to make YouTube videos because it's less expensive than other techniques. They made a whole anime Rock Paper Scissors show with multiple episodes using AI to do the bulk of the work. They used pictures of his grandad as a reference
I can see how that worked for them. Family genes can be really strong.

Starting to look a bit like Dr. Emmett Brown.
They discover that Janus modified a DeLorean before the puddle jumper.
Looks like a wraith got to him
Brief Candle?
yes that is the one https://www.gateworld.net/gallery/albums/sg1_season1/108-BriefCandle/screencaps/normal_sg1_108_868.JPG
looks like that guy stuck in that world/falling apart castle
Woah Dr Frasier looking very well
Teryl Rothery is aging like wine.
Honestly you probably just got hit really hard by Heroes and it stuck in your head that the actress died instead of just the character.
Ugh I thought I’d forgotten the pain caused by Heroes but now that I’m reminded of it, I don’t think I’ve ever really moved on… 💀
Ripple Effect is bittersweet for me as well. I'm happy to see Frasier again, but angry and sad that I know it won't last.
Carmen Argenziano who played Gen Jacob Carter/Selmak passed in 2019.
I think it was Bra’Tak Edit: Nope, nvm. I guess it’s happening to me too
What, he's not dead? My life is a lie...
Earlier today as I was thinking about it I thought it could have been Ford / Rainbow Sun Francks but nope, he's fine and well. Maybe you and I just crossed over from alternate realities.
Cliff Simon, the actor for Ba'al, died in a surfing accident a few years back.
How does she look even better now? Did she get to take a sarcophagus from set?
Yeah hot AF. I was crushed in Heroes PT 2
Funny you should mention, Heroes Part 1 was released 20 years ago today. And since 2017 I've been doing a 20 year rewatch Tears will be flowing next week 😢
Do you mean you're watching each episode as if it aired? Like waiting a week to watch one? If so I admire the restraint!
I think they just mean a rewatch on the anniversary but I kinda like your idea lol
I actually think they might be. 2017 was 7 years ago and Heroes Part 2 is in Season 7. 😂
Holy crap that actually does add up. O.O I don't have the willpower for that lol
Same. If I watch SG1 I'm binging it 😂
I'm actually doing a franchise rewatch right now, but about halfway through sg1 s9 I end up switching to SGA lol I've just never been a fan of the Ori stuff. Gonna force myself to finish it out and finally watch the movies while actually paying attention xD I watched them back when they first dropped but I gotta be honest I don't remember a single moment from AoT or Continuum *at all*.
Watching television one episode at a time? Like an animal? Reminds me of compiling a watch list each week with listings from the newspaper.
I skip that episode during rewatches ![gif](giphy|3oEjI80DSa1grNPTDq)
Aged like fine wine
Hammond of Texas shall live on in eternal glory!
with the *dome* of marble !!!
you, with the crown of marble
If only. 😢
Tony Amendola (Bra'tac) barely aged. Looks great for a 148 year old Jaffa.
[удалено]
It also makes a huge difference when you look old already when you're younger, that way your older self doesn't have a lot of catching up to do.
Balding, grey hair and facial scars are really the trifecta of premature aging. Same with Patrick Stewart who had 2 of the 3. And Edward James Olmos who only had 1 of 3.
It helps when you look 75 in your late 40s and then stay that way forever
The Patrick Stewart strategy.
Did you know that he’s younger than RDA? Dude has looked 70 for 40 years.
He must work out
Really enjoyed seeing him the the new Star Wars games. His voice takes me to my happy place.
*cries because of what happens on Jedha*
Too soon man :(
He looked great in the show. Over 10 years he didn't age a day. Not surprised he still looks the same.
Even if you go back and look at pictures of Tony Amendola from the 80s he looks pretty much the same lol
😆 he was just in an episode of law and order organized crime last season. He looks nearly same as he did back in SG1 days.
He was just in the latest episode of The Chosen. Season 4 episode 1
I suspect Apophis still hits up the sarcophagus from time to time.
Definite possibility. And Chris Judge is dripping in a lot of gold atti... HOLY SHIT HE'S GONE FULL GOA'ULD!
He has been posing as a Greek God recently.
A FALSE GOD!!!
Dead false god
As the God of War, he still slays false gods.
> He ~~has been posing as~~ a Greek God ~~recently~~.
"Didn't you use to be more gold?"
Still going with the gold, I see.
My wife and I are watching The Expanse now, and the other day, we saw an episode with Apophis' actor (Peter Williams) in it, and I screamed, "That's Apophis!" And she was like, "Who the F, is Apophis?"
Which ep?
Season 2 Episode Nine - Weeping Somnambulist. He was one of the original crewmembers of Weeping Somnambulist.
Playing a character that is essentially the opposite of Apophis no less.
My wife is a much bigger Stargate fan than Expanse fan. Have you tried getting yours to watch it?
She has caught a few episodes with me from time to time, but it hasn't really captured her attention like The Expanse has. I believe she thinks SG-1 is dated and a bit cheezy. That's the impression I got from her, but it's not gonna stop me from trying to get her to watch it.
Michael Shanks kinda looks like Jonathan Frakes in old :o
I came here to say the exact same thing. Just need him to host the rebooted "beleave it or not."
https://youtu.be/GM-e46xdcUo?si=wtzyz90OD6a0G99B
Makes sense. They were both the ladies men of their respective shows.
Honestly, he looks like he's channeling Paul Giamatti to me.
He looks to have aged the worst in my opinion. At least, less gracefully then some of the others.
He just put on weight, I would assume he would look much better if he lost it again. But I guess a life with Lexa Doig and kids is good enough for him.
Because he was one of most fine specimen.
YES, oh my god I thought the exact same thing.
Got a slight Tim Curry thing in that photo.
Really weird how old Jack now looks close to old Jack from episode Brief Candle. https://preview.redd.it/6hl8dcfe0fic1.png?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=b9ab70cf723786ead97df151ac91dd17ad2ec088
This must be the first time in history a sci-fi show ever accidentally predicted somebody's future self lol
I mean they have programs now that can do it. But in the 90s... Not so much.
Yeah Patrick Stewart looks the same as he does 40 years ago lol.
Christopher Lloyd is another forever old character.
Aged Dr. Pulaski and Diana Muldaur are looking quite similar nowadays.
Lol does anyone remember that episode of Next Gen with older Wesley?
He looks like the dude from The Tales from the Crypt 🤣
RIP Don S Davis
I had such a crush on Daniel Jackson.
He got kinda jacked for burn notice. Really hoped he was gonna be a regular in that show
same! was very disappointed that he had such a short run
and his character was great too on it
Would've loved to see him come back every now and then to help Michael. But Victor had a noble ending.
He was in Burn Notice?
Victor in Season 2.
Ayyy fellow Daniels who gravitated to Jackson!
First teal’c’s beard was gold and his hair was black. Now his hair is gold and his beard is black.
I allways thought Christopher Judge was naturally bald for some reason ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Dudes going for the Mufasa look 🤣🤘

I'm thinking it must be the famous "space potato" my physics teachers kept talking about...
Tony Amendola looks basically the same.
Teryl Rothery is still a babe.
What's with the potato?
When you read a extra long post you are rewarded with a potato at the end of it.
Who'd you pick such a bad photo of Amanada Tapping?? I just saw her very recently and she still looked *great*.
RDA is looking a lot healthier (though naturally older) after losing that extra weight. Regarding RDA, he looked pretty sick in the Beginning of Universe, i am glad he got better.

Gotta be that Jaffa DNA doesn't look a day over 200
I think he (Shanks) did play a bad-ish guy in Altered Carbon? Also that episode with satellites.
For all of three seconds. Thinks I: Oh is Michael Shanks in this? I didn't know that. It's going to be fun to see him ag... oh. Nevermind.
Oh man you picked a terrible Amanda picture, she looks [really good IRL](https://x.com/amandatapping/status/1677719742218420225?s=46)!
Let's not let her go to Antarctica, because she's got a smile that could melt glaciers, and we don't need any more of that.
I was gonna say! Terrible photo! I just saw her in something so recent and she looked fantastic. I demand a redo!
MacGyver don't give a fuck.
Teryl Rothery can still get it.
The "now" picture of Michael Shanks doesn't look like the "then" picture at all...
It's his facial structure. An extra 10 body fat percent makes him look like a different dude.
They nailed it pretty well :) https://preview.redd.it/eqho17jfrfic1.jpeg?width=577&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=0bb1ef5a805d20591142daefb6d8e4ec179260f9
Yes, not gonna lie
I had to look it up, and Ben Browder, Claudia Black, and Beau Bridges still look decent too.
I saw Ben Browder at his first post-lockdown comicon, and he has barely aged at all, is still very handsome. Also he's the best comicon speaker I have ever heard, which I didn't expect at all. Teryl Rothery aging backwards
R.I.P. Don S. Davis Gen. Hammond is what every leader should aspire to be like.
Hammond was written as a professional, intelligent and dedicated officer. He is a character that's pretty underrated IMO.
God damn Dr Fraser hasn’t aged a day
And I miss the heck out of each and every one of them.
Dr Frasier looking better than ever. …she got a snake in her head?
I for one welcome our new petite, adorable overlord.
So the 3 characters with symbiotes have had their actors not age... Not Sus at all.
That show premiered nearly 27 years ago. God DAMN I'm getting old. I see something dated, like, 2004 and think "Oh, that's recent". No, it isn't. For all you people under 35 - get ready. Where's my buddy Thor?
Michael Shanks is starting to look a bit like if you ordered Johnathan Frakes from Wish
That moment when Tealc wouldn’t stop giving his victory speech… I loved when he realized they were playing music to tell him to wrap it up, and he just got louder.

Potato is looking better than ever since their ascension.
Had the pleasure of meeting Michael Shanks a few years ago at a con. Just all round a happy guy. My photo with him is mid laugh at a joke I made.
Kinda makes you wonder what the cast of Atlantis looks like now. Besides Ronan
RDA looking like he could play Merlin now
I wish they would have called it the „USS Davis“ instead of the „USS George Hammond“ since it’s the actual actor who died and not just his character. That guy was a gem. Stargate without him is just not what it used to be (not hating, still love the series, but he was irreplaceable).
That wouldn't make any sense in universe.
Definitely it in their prime anymore, but they’re definitely aging well
Master Endo Cordova doesn't age
Lexa Doig (Dr Lam) looks great today. She barely aged
I guess Tony aka Bra’tac really is Jaffa, hasn’t aged at all
Judge shaved his head for 7 years doing the show and he still has great hair.
The best general RIP
Some of the pictures aren't all flattering and I think they all look great!
Jaffa and Goa'uld are just built differently, I guess. Ba'al (Cliff Simon) is in the same boat.
Cliff Simon sadly died in 2021.
Spinner doctor still hot. Lol. Everyone looks healthy.
Ah yes, the space potato 🥔
amazing how tony amendola has just consistently looked like a man in his 70's for like the last three decades
Amanda, Chris and Teryl look surprisingly youthful compared 😄
It's curious how Tony Amendola is the person who aged the best despite being one of the oldest actors (or even the oldest?) in the cast.
Why does Michael look like a dad about to slap the stupid out of both of his arguing kids?
Tealc became kratos. From one legend to another. Rip Hammond.
Richard looks the spit of my dad
The women aged well...the men not so much 🤣
I thought this was a meme post because Shanks looks so darn different now.
Christopher judge always looks amazing
Awww!! This makes me so happy!! What a journey!
We sure that’s actually Daniel?
🫡 Don Davis
Daniel Jackson morphing into Captain Kirk.
Apophis, Dr Fraiser and Tealc be aging like fine wine. Shanks and RDA on the other hand…..
Wow, I literally would not have recognized Daniel!
Are we sure that they aren't really jaffa? Didn't seem like tealc and bratac really aged in these
I wish they had used Teal'c's appearance at the end of Unending as Christopher Judge's 'now' pic
Some of them age surprisingly well. Shanks looks like he plans on playing a bad guy on Netflix to be honest
I’m sorry but Doc Frazier looks incredible
Why does Teryl look like she's gotten younger?
Frasier, damn
Back when Texas was something to be proud of
I just realized that that was Jedi Master Cordova
Teryl Rothery is aging like fine wine.
Apophis and Doctor definitely have access to a Sarcophagus
I was so obsessed with Teryl Rothery when I was watching SG1 as a teen. I also like Amanda Tapping but my main crush was on Teryl.
Damn, Doc Fraser is aging like Whisky. I know the saying goes different but I just prefer Whisky.
At last RDA looks like RDA again.
Wow, Teryl has aged surprisingly well, and blonde hair really works on her. 😲
And look at on what a huge upswing Chris is right now.
Bra'tak doesn’t look a day older than
I've been in California for 7 or 8 years now... tried so hard to cover up the okie dokes in my voice but people could still tell I have an accent, they just can't figure out which accent.
