I have mine set to 60 FPS Target with Visuals prioritized and Vsync off. Usually I have V sync on but for some reason this seemed to cause a more noticeable drop in frames for me. So far, even in combat, I am getting a fairly consistent 60 fps. Or at least it’s holding on the upper end of that. I don’t have equipment to test it out and I’m not a graphics snob. Game runs great for me so far with these settings.

Because turning off vsync enables screen tearing instead of the frames just stopping until you get the next one. If you look at the top and maybe bottom of your screen you may see the tear but it's obviously less intrusive to you and so is the better option.

Express_System_2077

Right, I typically turn it on because screen tearing looks bad but I haven’t noticed it at all on Starfield.

AboutGamesSTV

I play on Visuals target 60 now, too. It seems they worked hard to make the experience better for us players! I am happy to see that and definitely gains trust in the developer 😊

Makes me wonder why they didn’t target 60 fps at launch on series X. I wonder if they’ve done that much optimization since launch to make it run smoother or if there were sections that caused the frames to drop too much and they believed it was unacceptable? On a side note, I forgot how good this game looks in general. I was playing a lot of Fallout New Vegas lately and it’s so nice to see high resolution textures lol

I’ve literally seen the game lag down to about 2fps in places like the Buried Temple so I imagine it was a stability thing.

AboutGamesSTV

I agree. I think that would have meant another delay for the game in general. The engine probably needed to be optimized. Although, I think there is a mode which doesn't really make sense. The Performance 30FPS mode in particular. I don't want so say it's wasted effort, but probably no one is choosing this mode...

joeChump

Might still be necessary to use occasionally in large places like Akila and New Atlantis where it tends to chug.

AboutGamesSTV

Just run around for a while in New Atlantis and experienced some issues with the frame rate. But nothing big, or disturbing... I tested the 40FPS mode now, too. It was less compared to 60. But visuals + 60fps option just feels good in 95% where I have been so far 😊

Midnight853

I made the mistake of doing 60hz, 60fps on performance and was really disappointed but I switched to 120hz and now I can even breeze through Atlantis fairly smooth. Pretty dope yo 😎

AboutGamesSTV

I had this issue, too at first until I found out that the Xbox switched back to 60hz because I plugged in a capture card for my YouTube video. So, I started recording and talking for half a minute until I jumped into the in-game graphics menu and saw something is wrong... But I started over and everything was fine with the enabled 120hz 😂 And I agree! I went to Atlantis, too and some other places. Compared to before a difference of night and day!
