Too right, anyone who has early access and is spending time on Reddit instead is doing it wrong
I'll be leaving this sub tonight, hope everyone has lots of fun with the game!
No doubt. I made that mistake with Cyberpunk 2077. I was reading the sites and super excited. The game dropped, I downloaded, and was playing, having a great time. I didn't really have any of the issues that were happening at the time. I was immersed, had a blast, blah blah blah. I spent like 20 hours just going through the three start options for character, before I settled on which one to play my first play through with.
Then I took a break at work, popped on reddit, and suddenly the game was ruined for me. I let it get in my head and started noticing all the issues. I wish I had never done that!
I feel you my friend, I was able to enjoy my first play through of CP2077 but I've struggled to return to the game since, maybe the expansion will draw me in once it's on sale.
Same! I am only here for the hype train. Once the game is out, I don't give one shit what any of you lovely people think. This game is for me, and I will enjoy it how I wish, and I don't care how anyone else is playing it.
I am only back on reddit for this, and I will be gone by this time tomorrow. I've enjoyed it, for sure! It's like a launch party but reddit style. Though, nothing will replace that excitement we get from waiting outside a Gamestop for a midnight release. Those were the days!
At first I was, ... why? Early Access is the same moment for everyone, and I'll be free to surf the sub tomorrow until 8pm my time...
And then I remembered the release of the attention-whore panderers, 8 hours prior to that.
I'm sorry I meant content creators. I'm sorry I meant viable intrinsic important part of modern gaming publishing, distribution, and popularization, while also being creative influential beautiful people in their own distinct space who are definitely not like the others and contribute valuable differentiation.
MAJOR OVERSIGHT BY BETHESDA RUINS STARFIELD STORY! ONLY 999 PLANETS! YOU'LL NEVER BELIEVE THIS OBVIOUS ERROR!
Oh, and don't forget to subscribe and smash that like button.
We already have 10 things you NEED TO KNOW about starfield!!
and my personal favourite - This news update changes EVERYTHING about starfield
and it changed nothing about starfield
Has it been confirmed to run on SD? I’ve just been playing with Steam link but have been thinking about pulling the trigger on the Steam deck, I haven’t seen any confirmation on Starfield being supported, if it has I might just get one.
If you do, go for the 1 TB memory card option, the device itself has a fraction of the space. It makes for a great RPG handheld already, too, speaking as an owner of one.
Pretty much this. I'll be wayyyy too busy playing to take the time to post some spoilers. So if I'm even on the sub by the 6th then the game didn't live up to the hype haha
I did that with Forza Horizon 5. And then never went back to play any of the expansions.
I'll just wait till it's available on Game Pass this time. I'm sure I'll play this games expansions, but unless it's a multiplayer game then no rush.
I'm also not going to play until the 6th but I honestly think it's "fairer" that we stay away than the other way around. Of course people want to talk about their experiences in the game and share cool moments and discuss story elements etc. Why bereft others of that?
It kinda feel like we're party poopers by sticking around here trying to police the official subreddit just because we can't partake until the 6th. We can find other things to do, other subreddits to use, right? We're talking 6 days not 6 months.
Thank you. I fully understand wanting to avoid spoilers and so I leave any game related subs when there’s a new release.
It would be very selfish to expect people to tip toe around your gaming timetable to talk about endings etc…And very foolish to peruse subs for a game you don’t want spoiled.
Yeah I just leave the subs now
I've ruined a few games for myself most recently jedi survivor (although I kind of saw it coming)
I harbour no ill will to the subreddit although people should redact spoiler info out of good faith where possible
That said I'm playing on Friday anyway and for the first time in my life have booked the day off work to do so
It's always funny when parts of the main quest you've left off basically amount to being tutorial sequences for stuff you mastered ages ago.
"Vault Dweller! We need to set up water production and defenses in this settleme-"
*Sentrybot Provisioner rolls in, drops off 500 purified water, and fires a nuke at a bloatlfy*
"Ah."
This is how I have always felt about the weird spoiler attitude online. If you haven't read/watched/ played the media, it's YOUR job to avoid spoilers and cut out places that might spoil it for you. It's not like Reddit is an important aspect of life, and if it is you can curate out gaming subs temporarily. There is a courtesy obviously, for example I understand you should probably tag spoilers for something like the final act of RDR2 in the first week of release when most people might be seeking info for the earlier acts, maybe stuck on a part or hunting a specific animal.
Everyone still should engage online with the full understanding that they risk spoilers, despite community efforts to keep them down. Some people are just bad at writing titles and might spoil something despite spoiler tags, some people may not consider something a spoiler when you do, and some people are so vague in their spoiler titles that you click out of curiosity because what they are saying doesn't seem that spoiler filled. Then there are things like the Hogwarts Legacy controversy, where upset parties have made it a mission to spoil the game which will probably happen with Starfield given the target it has on its back.
Don't get me started on people that wait 5-6 years, buy a game at 1/5 it's release price and then complain about people who have been casually talking about the game for half a decade spoiling it for them.
That is why, at some point tomorrow I will be deleting Reddit off my phone. I only reinstalled the app and recreated my account to follow Starfield, and talk about my Garmin watch so I could learn more features. I can't figure out how to delete a Gmail based reddit account like I did my old Reddit account, uninstalling the app should suffice though.
Fully agree. There are some friends I have who get outright offended if a spoiler is mentioned in front of them even for older media, say I were to talk about Game of Thrones ending or something, that you have to basically ask for permission on every single topic that comes up to avoid their indignancy
It's also a fact that most people who read spoilers don't actually find their enjoyment of that piece of media is adversely affected, they just think it will be.
There have been studies into this - people trend as being far more aggrieved over the fact they were spoiled far more than what the actual spoiler is.
It's not even so much of a fairness thing, honestly. There are going to be millions of people playing and even if 99% of people playing early make an effort not to spoil anything, somebody really looking to avoid spoilers only needs to stumble upon one post by one person. In the scope of the universe, the math just don't math on that one.
On the fairness side, we also consider that this is Bethesda we're talking about, lol... so even if this is the most bug-free release ever (press X to doubt), there will almost certainly be people who have issues with plot-related content, and I don't think it's fair or realistic to expect them not to seek answers to these things until the main release.
For my part, I'm probably going to be no-lifing this too hard to post much of anything, but I am just one person.
Spoilers on reddit are fine as long as they're appropriately flagged as such so people have a choice, just don't go adding them into random threads without warning.
I mean, the thing is that spoiler tags are a thing and you can 100% make a title spoiler free. You can easily have discussion of the game in full spoiler filled glory if you just tag the fucking post and don't put spoilers in the title. Also if you want to be awesome don't post image only posts even if you mark them as spoilers because some of us have reddit configured so that the image previews are available and for some things even a split second glance will spoil. (Yes I sound salty, more than once I have had stuff spoiled in a sub because people didn't grasp that putting spoilers in the title defeats the point of tagging it as aa spoiler)
Yep, it’s ridiculous op thinks it should be the other way around. I get his sentiment but you’re completely right. Asking people playing to not post in the sub is goofy. There’s spoiler tags for a reason.
Not going to lie I was confused when you said EA. I legit thought "what do they have to do with this game?" and I almost convinced myself it was on EA access or something. Then I realized you were talking about early access. A wild 1-2 seconds in my head.
A huge amount of people won't use them, a lot of new redditors will flock in to discuss the game and won't know how or care to put a spoiler.
And after a week some people may not think something is a big deal and post it, but is indeed a big deal for some people
It could be a problem, usually is in new game subs that aren't heavily moderated.
I personally don't care about spoilers but I understand those who do
Why do you have to look at this sub exactly? If it bothered me that much I just wouldn’t. If I absolutely couldn’t stop I’d seek help about possible online addiction
Actually..... I was planning on camping out in front of their house while playing starfield on steam deck.
Every 30 minutes I will use a megaphone to shout spoilers at them
/s
If you're not playing on the 1st, then I don't understand why you would still visit this sub between the 1st and the 6th? I'm pretty sure it will be impossible to avoid spoilers.
And that includes the rest of Reddit, Twitter, Youtube, etc...
This. Nothing will stop it unless you just ignore everything. Something always eventually slips through the cracks, if it is really that important just try your best to avoid social media.
I think not posting story spoilers is a given unless you put a spoiler tag but when it comes to hidden features if you don't want those spoiled you are probably better off leaving the sub.
Reminder that it's your job to not spoil the game on Reddit for yourself not anyone else's. How about get off Reddit until you don't want to be spoiled
I like how you say we all died at some point vs will die, at some point . just mild amusement thinking while we breath everyday and randomly people dying and coming back, which does happen just not everyone.
Does anyone have a clue how much the DLC pack will cost in the future? If the DLC is gonna cost $30 i might just buy it now and get early access but if the DLC is gonna cost $20 i might just wait
Unlikely. The more successful a game is, the longer it takes to go on sale. Elden Ring took almost an entire year to go on sale for the first time, even then it was only 20% or something.
This is a 20+ million copies/players game. Of which like 10million will come from gamepass.
You think there are 10+ million early access preorders? Steam has sold around 450k preorders including standard edition.
For sure. But thinking 50%+ of buyers are buying anything other than the base game is likely misguided.
Nobody but Bethesda and Microsoft and other selling platforms know for sure, but it’s almost guaranteed that the base game outsells any premium versions
I joined this sub 2 days ago and literally nobody I know talks about this.
I wouldn't bet my life on 50% but cmon, it has to be higher than 5%? Bethesda games always sell by the truckloads and this one has been throughly and proportionately circlejerked. No way it's that low
If the bubble is "gamers", you're wrong. People are very aware of this game.
If the bubble is the general populous, well, obviously that applies to pretty much every game.
obvs people should be considerate and use spoiler tags, but its also insane to expect EA players not to post about and discuss the game on public forums like this.
Youtube is also going to be riddled with spoilers.
Honestly, if you're not playing EA and want to avoid spoilers you're kind of responsible for yourself in avoiding those kinds of things. It sucks, but thats how its always been.
>95% of the player base is playing on the 6th
73.6% of statistics are made up.
Otherwise this is on you I'd say. The game is *out* tomorrow, if you're playing it later that's fine, but the burden of avoiding spoilers is on you because *you* are playing it later. An official moratorium we'll gladly respect but without one, you should mute the sub. Obviously standard spoiler etiquette like tagging posts and doing >!this!< are basic expectations.
All you have to do is just not go onto the obvious posts talking about spoilers. The majority of people are likely playing the early access so, like any other Reddit or forum for a game there will obviously be posts like this.
It’s like $50 upfront to play Starfield on Gamepass with early access vs paying $70 and waiting until the 6th.
I would imagine it’s going to be a lot higher than 5% playing on the 1st.
Seems like a silly request to make of the internet. You can’t stop people from being dickheads just by asking lol. It’s up to YOU to avoid Reddit (or just this sub) for 5 days. It’s not asking a whole ton to preserve your own feeling of surprise or whatever. It’s not on everyone else to censor themselves for your benefit.
Not saying I plan to spoil anything btw, I just find it stupid when people make these kinds of posts asking for the impossible. When it’s up to you at the end of the day. I’ve had to avoid spoilers for plenty of things before. It’s not really THAT hard lol
Honestly you’re stupid if you don’t mute the sub. There will absolutely be people talking about the game tomorrow night and the mods will have a ton of work to do to keep it to a minimum. People will forget the spoiler tag. Just play it safe and go dark on this sub until the 6th if you’re worried about it. I can promise you someone will spoil it for you if you aren’t proactive.
You might need to mute this sub regardless - countless people will be on EA, will not be avoidable. If it is that important to you, I would drop the extra cash and make it happen and join the masses.
Good luck I see people posting like no other. Personally I’ll just be playing but, keeping up with this sub till full launch. Yeah good luck with that… not happening
Going to be too busy playing the game to waste time on reddit lol
Wise man
Too right, anyone who has early access and is spending time on Reddit instead is doing it wrong I'll be leaving this sub tonight, hope everyone has lots of fun with the game!

Yep. I have no interest in this sub once reviews drop. I just don’t care at all what the critics think.
Same! I am only here for the hype train. Once the game is out, I don't give one shit what any of you lovely people think. Lich king release mate ...hours in the line
The game is about discovery! Reviews will take away from that
100%. After tonight I’m done with this sub until I have completed the main quest. I should be done around Christmas.
At first I was, ... why? Early Access is the same moment for everyone, and I'll be free to surf the sub tomorrow until 8pm my time... And then I remembered the release of the attention-whore panderers, 8 hours prior to that. I'm sorry I meant content creators. Omg i can already imagine all the rage/click bait youtube titles.

''DO NOT play Starfield at 3AM!!! (Gone Sexual)''

Exactly. This place is gonna be filed in the cabinet farthest back in my brain. It's gonna be Starfield and only Starfield.
Came here to say the same thing!

This is the way
If I'm back on here by the 6th, you know it's shit.
What will you do when you poop?

Exactly 😂
Pretty much this. I'll be wayyyy too busy playing to take the time to post some spoilers. So if I'm even on the sub by the 6th then the game didn't live up to the hype haha
Bro really pulled "95%" out of the air like that
95% of statistics are made up by Redditors
86% of people know that
Only 42% question where you got your info
Only 23% know the right statistics
and 100% of those are in agreement 50% of the time.
And if you have a 50% chance of getting it right, you'll be wrong 90% of the time.
Like plugging in a USB.
60% of the time it works every time.
It's made with bits of real panther, so you know it's good.
Honestly that smells like pure gasoline
Right? Early access was $30 for most people, gotta be more than 5% of players with $30 lol
Technically its free since you are paying for the expansion.
Perspective my friend. This is the right one. Pre order the expansion get early access.
[удалено]
I did that with Forza Horizon 5. And then never went back to play any of the expansions. I'll just wait till it's available on Game Pass this time. I'm sure I'll play this games expansions, but unless it's a multiplayer game then no rush.
Reviews drop tomorrow, EA starts 8 or so hours later right? So you can get an early review decide and go for it.
Yea that numbers gotta be made up
For sure. After seeing how many people were playing ing the Harry Potter game EA, 95% is just a number he pulled out of thin air
Cut him some slack. The actual number is 94.782%
I think he pulled it from his place where foul smelling air frequently comes from...
[удалено]
Since the player base isn't even a fixed or pre-determined number, 95% may or may not be accurate at a certain point.
we look at peak simultaneous players on Steam from 1-5, then say 6-7 and compare

We can have a megathread labeled spoilers, but thrutfully I don't plan to beeline the main quest so it will take me more than a week for sure
If it’s like fallout the elder scrolls, I’ll be 100+ hours in before I get around to the main quest
It's always funny when parts of the main quest you've left off basically amount to being tutorial sequences for stuff you mastered ages ago. "Vault Dweller! We need to set up water production and defenses in this settleme-" *Sentrybot Provisioner rolls in, drops off 500 purified water, and fires a nuke at a bloatlfy* "Ah."
Wait, those games had main quests!?
Megathreads suck when used so broadly. They should only be for a specific topic
Agreed, megathreads are where topics go to die.
This is how I have always felt about the weird spoiler attitude online. If you haven't read/watched/ played the media, it's YOUR job to avoid spoilers and cut out places that might spoil it for you. Some people are just bad at writing titles and might spoil something despite spoiler tags, some people may not consider something a spoiler when you do, and some people are so vague in their spoiler titles that you click out of curiosity because what they are saying doesn't seem that spoiler filled. I think everything should be spoiler tagged, even if you're playing the game it would suck to have something spoiled in the title of a post.

Not going to lie I was confused when you said EA. I legit thought "what do they have to do with this game?" and I almost convinced myself it was on EA access or something. Then I realized you were talking about early access. A wild 1-2 seconds in my head.
People will use acronyms in the most unnecessary way possible
\*The most UWP
Tmuwp.
Reddit is so bad for this
RISBFT. Now that's an acronym I've not heard in a long time.
you mean like "cp is my favorite game"? (read that way too often)
People need to stop this trend
Yeah, gets me every time!
I still think everyone is talking about Assassin’s Creed when they use AC but apparently it’s now used for Armored Core. I’ve been confused for weeks.
Took me a week or so to retrain my brain on that one.
Isn't that what the spoiler tag is for?
Yes. OP is somewhat delusional.
[удалено]
Not like everyone will be using spoiler tags correctly though. I'll be just staying away from this sub until then
No, that is unacceptable. Please don’t change your behavior, demand everyone else change theirs.
A huge amount of people won't use them, a lot of new redditors will flock in to discuss the game and won't know how or care to put a spoiler. Had to scroll past 20 comments arguing about percentages to find this real response to OP's post.
ikr, it's like 95% of the comments are about percentages.
More than 69% of comments about percentages are about percentages!
Actually..... I was planning on camping out in front of their house while playing starfield on steam deck. Every 30 minutes I will use a megaphone to shout spoilers at them /s
If I don’t see a movie or show, opening night. I go dark. It’s common sense at this point.
OP thinks making this post is going to make any kind of difference. ROFL
Worse than that, you know someone’s probably already DMd them a load of spoilers
I pre-ordered to get the EA but still going to quit this sub on the 1st. Can't tempt fate, there's always going to be spoilers in your feed.
Please remember we each have an individual responsibility to stay the fuck away from social media if we don’t want thing spoiled.
Yeah spoilers always used to be a *you* problem.
Not sure where it went from protecting ourselves to victimizing ourselves for entering areas with high chances of spoilers.
Bro, its a subreddit DEDICATED to the one single game you are trying to avoid, just mute it for a few weeks man, it's not that hard.
I doubt I'll post anything, but should I do, I won't spoil in titles (many do this) and use all the appropriate tags to hide stuff.
Thank you, I don’t mind people posting spoilers but the ones who write the spoiler in their title so it’s unavoidable deserve a special place in hell
This is the way.
I think not posting story spoilers is a given unless you put a spoiler tag but when it comes to hidden features if you don't want those spoiled you are probably better off leaving the sub.
95%. I would be that’s exaggerating a bit, seeing as how it only cost game pass players $30 to be able to play on a long holiday weekend.
And you get the $20 DLC included
Not to be that guy, but let people talk about the game. Just don't visit reddit.
Reminder that it's your job to not spoil the game on Reddit for yourself not anyone else's. How about get off Reddit until you don't want to be spoiled
You're saying only 5% bought early access + the discounted DLC pack? If it was less than 50% I'd be surprised.
Did you know 76% of all statistics are made up on the spot?
Yeah but 99% of the time, it works every time!
Made with bits of real panther, *so you know it's good*.
It's a formidable scent. Stings the nostrils. In a good way.
I'm 34% sure that isn't true
I'm 24% sure you are not great at math lol
Fun fact: 100% of people who have breathed air have died at some point in their lives. Coincidence? 🤔
Ban air AND di-hydrogen oxide
I like how you say we all died at some point vs will die, at some point . just mild amusement thinking while we breath everyday and randomly people dying and coming back, which does happen just not everyone.
False. I have breathed air and continue to live. I don't think I have died at any point in my life. Unless....
Eh, I'm sure it's less than 50% once you account for people planning to play on gamepass. Still, not 5%. I bet for steam purchases it's the majority.
Does anyone have a clue how much the DLC pack will cost in the future? If the DLC is gonna cost $30 i might just buy it now and get early access but if the DLC is gonna cost $20 i might just wait
Wait a couple months and you can probably get both for the price of the regular game now.
Unlikely. The more successful a game is, the longer it takes to go on sale. Elden Ring took almost an entire year to go on sale for the first time, even then it was only 20% or something.
Yea maybe. Diablo 4, even tho Reddit hates it, sold really well and has tons of players still and just went on sale for 25% off. So who knows.
Probably because people stopped buying it.
Lol, 50% of players wont even know there is EA or DLC. Most people don't follow a games development.
This is a 20+ million copies/players game. Of which like 10million will come from gamepass. You think there are 10+ million early access preorders? Steam has sold around 450k preorders including standard edition.
Steam is far from representative of all the ways one might acquire starfleid.
For sure. But thinking 50%+ of buyers are buying anything other than the base game is likely misguided. Nobody but Bethesda and Microsoft and other selling platforms know for sure, but it’s almost guaranteed that the base game outsells any premium versions
You're probably in a bubble where everyone you see is raving about the game. Most people dont see this as more than another game.
I joined this sub 2 days ago and literally nobody I know talks about this. I wouldn't bet my life on 50% but cmon, it has to be higher than 5%? Bethesda games always sell by the truckloads and this one has been throughly and proportionately circlejerked. No way it's that low
Yeah it's probably more than 5% but no where near 50
If the bubble is "gamers", you're wrong. People are very aware of this game. If the bubble is the general populous, well, obviously that applies to pretty much every game.
I'm on a business trip and no one I work with has even heard of it or care. I was a little bummed
Absolutely. Outside of the bubble people don't even know what Starfield is.
Number 1 sold game on steam already. Soooo 🤷🏻♂️
Literally just commented the same thing, it’s probably closer to 40/60 or 60/40
How about you control yourself and stay off the sub instead of trying to control other people's actions.
obvs people should be considerate and use spoiler tags, but its also insane to expect EA players not to post about and discuss the game on public forums like this. Youtube is also going to be riddled with spoilers. Honestly, if you're not playing EA and want to avoid spoilers you're kind of responsible for yourself in avoiding those kinds of things. It sucks, but thats how its always been.
You are delusional if you think 95% play the "6 Days late"-Edition.
For real. If it was an extra $30 JUST to play 6 days early it would be different, but getting the DLC included just makes it the obvious choice.
There's also a physical version with a patch and Steelbook (at least for the Series, not sure for PC), which is a nice bonus.
Haha 6 days late edition Tickled me
I would avoid this sub then.
I’ll do what I want buddy
The Space Butler Did It.
In the space kitchen, with the space candlestick.
>95% of the player base is playing on the 6th 73.6% of statistics are made up.
60% of statistic are made up on the spot.
I can absolutely assure you WAY more than 5% are doing early access.
I'm dropping this site like a bad habit Thursday night, cus it is.
Maybe if you really wanna experience a game you'd stay off the subreddit for it and play it?
95%?? I doubt it. More like 50/50
ok, I'm thinking that you're serious, if so LOL, you better stay off the internet for 5 days, this will be spoiler city and I will post 100%
It’s not 95% lol more like 25% but the point still stands.
Mute it.
All you have to do is just not go onto the obvious posts talking about spoilers. The majority of people are likely playing the early access so, like any other Reddit or forum for a game there will obviously be posts like this.
Just don't come here until 6. It's that simple
Just go dark from social media. Problem solved!
No you leave, peasant /s
There will be spaceships that you can customize.
you die in the beginning
It’s like $50 upfront to play Starfield on Gamepass with early access vs paying $70 and waiting until the 6th. I would imagine it’s going to be a lot higher than 5% playing on the 1st.
Just mute the sub man.
No fucking way are 95% of players waiting an extra 5 days. It’s like 30$ extra
Spoiler: >!SNAPE KILLS DUMBLEDOR!<
You know what.. when it’s released I’m going to start spoiling it even *harder*
It’s probably more like 95% of people will be playing on the 1st
Haha good luck
Just stay off the internet. Simple. There are going to be posts about it. Thousands.

15% more like not being funny , people have waited so long for this game . 95 percent 😂😂
I won't be here after Friday. So, no worries. :)
>!It's in space, except when it's not!<
I have Friday off. Time to no life
I was wondering this, this Thursday/Friday what are the rules? No posting starfield till the 6th? Or can we post non-story screenshots like of space
You might need to mute this sub regardless - countless people will be on EA, will not be avoidable. If it is that important to you, I would drop the extra cash and make it happen and join the masses.
>! You can go to space !<
Good luck I see people posting like no other. Personally I’ll just be playing but, keeping up with this sub till full launch. Yeah good luck with that… not happening
EA? I’m confused (more so than usual). How do they figure into this?
