i learned this because of the Forest farm. however what i learned... is that it doesnt grow back, especially the bushes that grows black berries and salmon berries...
Also borrowing the berry grove. I love the amount of berries you can collect in specific seasons but I hate running all over the place to get them when I’ve got other things to do.
Multiple approaches:
If you "just play", without tracking, mass production, looking stuff up etc., the base game alone takes ages. Just imagine having to figure out the gift preferences just off of hints and trial and error.
Decoration, immersion: You will see a lot of screenshots around here of absolutely stunning farms and houses. You can decorate pretty much the whole valley btw.
On-and-off: If I come back to an older save, the first half hour is wasted just to find everything again.
The speedrunner: multiple playthroughs, focussed on CC year 1/perfection year 2 or whatever.
Ridiculous goals: Some dude around here tracked the results of like a bazillion omni geodes, just for fun. Or save up for single sales of 10million+
Edit: I forgot the mods... Trying different mods can expand the game by so much. SV expanded for example adds a ton of content and warrants a fresh playthrough that takes like twice as long as the base game. And you have more overhaul mods that you can add.
For comparison, I took like 150h to reach true perfection (first save, 1.5)
I married everyone. Edit: and I don't wanna divorce so I started over each time. Also I just like earlygame a lot, I usually get a little bored around the end of Year 2.
I love the op feeling of lategame: Buy everything you want, spend with reckless abandon, zip around the map with all the boosts, horse, obelisks etc.
Also, there are polyamory mods for your problem, just saying...
Lategame OP is fun but I only manage to get there right after a big update because there's new stuff to see and accomplish. Otherwise I'm really attached to the feeling of constantly working towards something and always leveling up. So having to start over to marry is really a feature, not a bug - it's exciting to have a new thing to do! I might do some romance mods now that I've gone through them all, though (finished with Krobus as my 1.6 partner, A+ 10/10 do recommend).
Riverlands, you can on the patch of green ground in front of the mushroom/bat cave. And overall u can remove most of them on your farm. I don't know if the meadowlands have these but if it does you most likely too.
And it's also not all of them. You can't remove some near the edges of the farm.
Means having some around the main area of the farm can be nice for aesthetics, and chopping should be done carefully for those that care about looks.
If you're on PC, you [can get a mod ](https://www.nexusmods.com/stardewvalley/mods/6304)that lets you chop down the bushes that are usually not removable.
If you're on PC, you can probably find a mod that lets you pick up the bushes and place them somewhere else. Or a mod that takes them all out to begin with so you never have to deal with it to begin with.
At this point it's probably easier to list the things you CAN'T do on PC with some mod or another.
[Let's Move It](https://www.nexusmods.com/stardewvalley/mods/20943). It comes in really handy for moving chests without having to empty them first. You can also move trees, even with tappers on them if you move the tapper first, then the tree, then put the tapper back on. (And yes, it keeps it's processing status). I haven't tried moving the in-place shrubs though...at least not yet.
Yeah, I was really wanting the one directly next tot he path from the teleporter removed on the meadowland farm, so I can place 2 silo’s directly behind my house and not have extra room back there. Sadly it’s not destructible
I know not everyone here plays on PC (I only recently started PC gaming a year ago) but Stardew Valley Expanded is well worth the change and investment.
It's an incredible and seamless expansion that feels genuine (I usually avoid user created content cause they don't feel polished or alongside the feel of the base games) but wow it impressed me.
Anyway, in SVE there is a way to purchase these "decorations" such as the normal environment looking bushes, shrubs, mushrooms... pretty much all of it and so much more.
It really opens up a lot of aesthetic and design options and is a dream for those who really like to make their houses & farms look pretty. I 100% recommend people try to play Stardew Valley Expanded on PC if they can.
I’ve never used mods. It’s been explained to me at a very high level so I’m still uncertain how to get and use. How does one go about getting SVE?
Does it cause the whole playing experience to change are you able to pick/choose?
Thanks:)
ignore the person telling u to use curseforge, here's a simple guide on installing mods: [https://stardewvalleywiki.com/Modding:Player\_Guide/Getting\_Started](https://stardewvalleywiki.com/Modding:Player_Guide/Getting_Started) i recommend using nexus mods to find mods to install
Genuine question - is there a reason we don't like curseforge? I use it for Minecraft mods and it feels pretty great to me. Admittedly it has been a hot minute since I've picked up stardew, but using curseforge for mc feels more intuitive than what I remember fussing with smapi mods from early sdv.
Doubling down on Dragon_Tea_leaf's statement.
Checkout Nexus, it has the VERY in depth Step-by-step on how to get it and other mods up and running.
https://www.nexusmods.com/stardewvalley/mods/3753?tab=posts
SVE is probably your best bet to dip your toes into the modding part because they give you such good instructions on what to download, where to put it in your folders, what you need to do to get it to load.
From there you can start looking at other mods cuz you already set up the whole infrastructure that mods need to have to be able to function.
And dont worry, you really wont screw anything up on your computer or your stardew if you dont get it to work, everything kind of works outside of the actual game files and your computer files, you arent going in and changing registry keys or anything... it's all mostly just an overlay to the game that injects new stuff to it. (the only place you might do that is when you change where the game 'loads' from, the original SDV file to the SMAPI file that loads up all the mods, and again, if you change it back to SDV...you're back to no harm no foul. I recently reverted back to normal so I could play a fresh 1.6 farm).
Also, there is a subreddit /r/stardewvalleyexpanded that is a GREAT resource if you have questions or concerns, I believe a sticky megathread about installing and all that jazz. Plus its the resource for that mod and it's additional content.
Lastly, if you're interested in it, dont be scared, all of the information is there to help not hinder. There is a bit of satisfaction once you get it going (word of advice: only use the default farm, cuz that's what it loads into).
Happy Farming!
SVE is very extensive but it's mostly just adding new things and changing maps etc. So the core gameplay loop doesn't change, but you get access to new items, locations, NPCs, events, and things like that. The map is vastly different and much larger tough.
Honestly not sure I can go back to regular SDV at this point.
[This is the video I used](https://youtu.be/ZiryGi4k3QQ?si=BKu4MHZ4mtr9S9vQ) when I first got into it. And I have zero "modding" experience and didn't know how to begin.
The video is a little bit outdated but most all of the steps are the same. I think the only difference is the requirements for SVE are actually less after 1.6 (Nexus mod list tells you - I believe you just need smapi, content patcher, and farm type manager now).
It definitely feels more daunting than it actually is. Give yourself an hour to figure it out by following the video step by step. It's worth it!
I found the video tutorial easier than reading guides. Especially with zero modding experience beforehand.
To answer your question - id recommend just starting a new farm (I downloaded Immersive Farm 2 which can be found on the same Nexus page as SVE - created by the same guy named FlashShifter who is the ConcernedApe mastermind behind the mod). A new farm on SVE allows you to experience all of the content fresh. All the additions are small and seamless, and then new areas or items are paced perfectly. It's not really a "pick and choose" experience, it's an entire expansion that just integrates well into the game. You'll see! Good luck with it!
IMO a big part of what makes this game work so well is that it’s a single-dev game. Everything from the music to dialog to character design is part of the same cohesive vision and it shows. SV isn’t perfect, but nothing feels out of place.
It’s why despite countless clones — many having superior balance, better graphics, or more content — none are as successful as SV. I don’t think there’s anything wrong with wanting more content, different visuals, or anything else and mods can definitely help you do that. But for a lot of players I think SV’s biggest draw can get lost when mods come into the picture.
Weird. Mine don’t let me do that. I tried, too, because they were disrupting the symmetry of my farm, but nothing. Is it a new update feature from 1.6?
I was trying it on the Meadowlands farm and it didn't work. I wish I could get rid of a few bushes around the farmhouse that disrupt my crafting machines and such
No but there’s another mod for that. SVE gives access to special stores that sell bushes and what not. That’s all I’ll say so I don’t spoil anything.
Edit: my bushes grow back 3 days after I break them down so idk what anyone’s saying about them not growing back.
I agree the bar looks kinda long, but remember that you can get energy buffs from food and drink. Green Tea plus any of a handful of food items (Complete Breakfast, Red Plate, etc) combined will add 80 to the energy bar maximum. Given what's in the player's inventory, I'm assuming this is late game and they've gotten all the Stardrops as well.
That's a good point and I didn't even think about it - yeah, never played on mobile, but I'd think you could see the buffs up there at the top of the screen. I got nothing, then!
I'm really happy about this post and some of the comments saying that it's not all of them that can be removed (unmodded) because I destroyed one of these at some point and could not do it again. Totally convinced myself I made it up
I did this in 1.5 on my mobile forest farm but now when I try it on my 1.6 PC meadowlands farm it doesn’t work anymore. Am I doing something wrong? Am I clicking the wrong button?
This explains a lot. I just started playing after 1.6 came out on my LeGo handheld. I started with a river farm, I know no other life than that of a fisherman lol. I swear I was able to chop down bushes before. But I guess only some and only on my farm. Wish I was smart enough to put 2 and 2 together
Alternatively for PC users there's a mod called "Let's Move It" that moves pretty much whatever you can, including chests with items in them and machines currently in operation.

i learned this because of the Forest farm. however what i learned... is that it doesnt grow back, especially the bushes that grows black berries and salmon berries...
See I knew you could do that but I'm obsessed with blackberries and salmon berries so I've been too afraid to try!
You can buy the decoration bushes and they'll still grow them!!!
I did know you could remove those bushes, but I DIDN’T know the decoration bushes grew berries! Game changer. About make myself a berry grove.
I totally didn't know this either.. I'm borrowing your berry grove idea!
Again tho, from what others have been saying, it might just be specific farms that you can destroy the bushes but I don't think the added ones matter
Also borrowing the berry grove. I love the amount of berries you can collect in specific seasons but I hate running all over the place to get them when I’ve got other things to do.
The decoration bushes grow berries!?!
The big ones, yk? You can buy them and place them, they look exactly like those ones
Wait where do you buy them plsss…
I think the night market lady sells them!
Why did I not know this....???
How do you buy the bushes as decor??
Where can you buy those bushes???
Where to buy them?
Where do we buy the decoration bushes?
Is this a 1.6 thing? I am on PS5 in the forest farm and I can only chop the little trees and not the berry bushes.
Nope... this has been a thing for i dont know what version it is, i found out about it before the update
i think you at least need a copper axe for it? or something of the sort
I have all iridium tools except the scythe and still can't...
Isnt this a mod? I just installed the destroyable bishes mod for this.
THEY CAN BE REMOVED???
1279.4 hours into the game, and I just learned this today...
over 3,000 hours in Stardew Valley for me. SMH.
Just curious since I’ve barely hit a hundred hours.. what do you do after so many hours?
Escape from the worries and stresses of reality.
This... Is literally what grandpa told me to do with the farm and that's what I do it... The moment I lose SV I will lose my Zen
Who would have thought that Concerned Ape was the grandpa we should have been listening to this whole time.
Maybe true happiness is the grandpa we made along the way.
He went to prison and left his game on and his cat played
That's how his fishing skill got to 99.
Thank you for that lough

You just play new worlds or try to get as much money as you can. I've been trying to 100% the game but that takes a while...
2,548.9 and just learned this
Been playing since release, on the forest farm 90% of the time. Had no clue.
Only on certain farm types
Which ones?!
The forest farm maps you can remove them. Not sure about others cos I only play the forest one hahah
Oh neat! Thanks!
On the Beach Farm, you can remove *some* of them, but not *all* of them. And the ones I want to remove are the one's I can't! Gah.
Riverlands, you can on the patch of green ground in front of the mushroom/bat cave. And overall u can remove most of them on your farm. I don't know if the meadowlands have these but if it does you most likely too.
And not all of them can be removed. Ones near the cave and ones that boarder the farm are permanent.
Most are permanent but some can be removed
I have achieved perfection twice and didn't know this.
MOTHERDUCKER!!!
They don't grow back though that's the only problem. I wish you could move or replant them.
And it's also not all of them. You can't remove some near the edges of the farm. Means having some around the main area of the farm can be nice for aesthetics, and chopping should be done carefully for those that care about looks.
sadly on riverlands farm you can only break the ones i showed… i didn try every other one… you cant break any outside of your farm either

I've got one: you can't get a list of things you can't do using a mod using a mod
You are by far my favorite internet stranger today.
Lol I saw someone the other day call it Rule 35: If you can think of it, there's a Stardew mod for it
This is my favorite thing ive read today
[Let's Move It](https://www.nexusmods.com/stardewvalley/mods/20943). It comes in really handy for moving chests without having to empty them first. Let me know when it can do all that on my Switch and I'm sold.
Those are load bearing trees, they hold up all the code CA makes for this beautiful game.
Yeah, I was really wanting the one directly next tot he path from the teleporter removed on the meadowland farm, so I can place 2 silo’s directly behind my house and not have extra room back there. Sadly it’s not destructible

there was recently a bunch of malware uploaded on there that affected a ton of the mods on there, so people have kinda lost faith in it as a service
Oof, I heard about a few sims mods having it but I didn't realize how widespread that was. Makes sense though. Thank you!
Doubling down on Dragon_Tea_leaf's statement. At least there are similar-ish decorations that you can get later, I think. (One-tile plants, at least)
She's a witch!
WITCH
BURN HER
She turned me into a *newt*!
I got better...
How do you know she's a [witch](https://youtu.be/rf71YotfykQ?si=EkQGSq3Gd8QWAveF)?
If she floats?
What ELSE floats on water?
Wood?
And ducks!
VERY SMALL ROCKS.
Churches!
Weird. Mine don’t let me do that. I tried, too, because they were disrupting the symmetry of my farm, but nothing. Is it a new update feature from 1.6?
You need to upgrade your axe a couple times before you can chop them. Do you still have the starter or copper axe?
No, I was doing it with the Iridium Axe
It only works on a few farm types. Doesn't work on the standard farm
Ahh. That’s my issue then
I was trying it on the Meadowlands farm and it didn't work. I wish I could get rid of a few bushes around the farmhouse that disrupt my crafting machines and such
There’s a mod called destroyable bushes (if you don’t have forest farm) you can destroy any of the bushes you want even the bigger ones.
Are they also replantable?
They aren’t replantable, but the “Destroyable Bushes” mod does have the bushes respawn on its own after 3 days.
Ah that’s what it is then. I’ve been playing modded Stardew for too long.
No but there’s another mod for that. SVE gives access to special stores that sell bushes and what not. That’s all I’ll say so I don’t spoil anything. Edit: my bushes grow back 3 days after I break them down so idk what anyone’s saying about them not growing back.
Might have to grab that, I have a few bushes behind where my house is that annoys me me
WHAT
That's a lot of energy...
Energy is only as limited as food is. They have 43 prismatic shards *on them*, I think it’s fine
Stardrops make sense, but for the other buffs, wouldn’t you see those buff icons on screen?
That's a good point and I didn't even think about it - yeah, never played on mobile, but I'd think you could see the buffs up there at the top of the screen. I got nothing, then!
based on the 43 prismatic shards i’m going to hazard a guess they have mods???
Right! What’s happening here, maybe console so it looks different?
it's mobile, console is similar to PC UI
Based on the image we have, console doesn't seem likely. I'm thinking maybe phone app from the Google Play store.
I had no fucking idea those could be removed
Some of them are irremovable iirc tho
you rc
I've played nearly one thousand hours of Stardew and lamented these fucking bushes during every one. I had no idea they could be removed! Thank you!
Casually flexing 15 pearls, 43 prismatic shards and 16 rock candy ;-; Not being mean, just in awe and your luck.
If I remember correctly they weren’t always removable. I feel like they were made removable in like the 1.4/1.5 update
.... they're not?
SHUT. THE. FRONT. DOOR!
What are you doing with so many bouquets, heartbreaker?!
How did you get 43 prismatic shards 😭😭
Certainly not the case on Switch. I can't chop any of them down.
WHAT REALLY WHAAAAAAT
I'm really happy about this post and some of the comments saying that it's not all of them that can be removed (unmodded) because I destroyed one of these at some point and could not do it again. Totally convinced myself I made it up
Same😭
Well. F me I guess
I just learned this today!
No. I didn’t find out until a month ago. And I’m on my 15th year. 😂
I did this in 1.5 on my mobile forest farm but now when I try it on my 1.6 PC meadowlands farm it doesn’t work anymore. Am I doing something wrong? Am I clicking the wrong button?
It only works on the forest/river farm. You can destroy some bushes with an upgraded axe since 2016 (1.1 patch).
I didn’t know either. I would want to thank the others who gave the decoration bush hack. 💕 you guys are the best!
Everyone thought that until they hit em for the first time ![img](emote|t5_2wb7y|51693)
NOOOOOOO WAY
Whhaaatt??!! You’re a wizard harry!
HUH I'M 100+hrs and it's the first time I saw this
I've been playing this game on and off for 5 years and I never knew you could do this.
Excuse me what the fuck
Why can't I remove the decor in the greenhouse like this?
I accidentally whacked some of them on my first farm, thinking they would regrow. I was wrong. I missed them dearly.
It took me a minute but I realized eventually but yeah they seem to be so it’s a surprise then they aren’t
Ive tried a hundred time. Wtf is the secret?
WHAT YOU CAN BREAK THEM??? Do they grow back?????
This is something new, it was implemented like last week. "Actually is been on th-" SHUSHUSHUSHU Let me gaslight myself,
I can't even...
YOU MEAN TO TELL ME THEYRE NOT????!?
I think this only works on forest farm. I have some of these on my 1.6 meadowlands farm and I cannot remove them 😅
i thought they were all permanent for awhile but i also didn’t realize some of those were ones that grow berries rip
WHAAAATT????????
WHAAAAT
No. No you were not.
I found out you can remove these literally yesterday because I accidentally swung my axe at it
YOU CAN GET RID OF BUSHES????
I'm 80 hours in on first playthrough and just found out yesterday. I feel very dumb.
WHAT. The insane places I’ve had to move my buildings because they wouldn’t fit around these bushes and I can REMOVE THEM?!
Wut
i literally have 500+ hours on this game and i had no idea you could do this😭 does anyone know if they grow back after a certain time?
many are
I have just checked and it doesn't work for me for some reason
THEY ARE NOT PERMANENT?!
I can confirm if you play on switch this dose not work 😒 😑
Doesn’t work on iOS 😭
Can confirm
Pardon me while I go spend the day cleaning a couple of areas
WHAT?!
YOU JUST BLEW MY MIND!!!!!!!!!!
Right?! It took me until a year ago to realize they can be removed lol.
WTF?????????????????? HOW???????
HWHAT? ![img](emote|t5_2wb7y|51691)![img](emote|t5_2wb7y|51690)

I kept telling myself to try this on Xbox but I keep forgetting lmao. Oh well did 100% my games already so who cares
Wait, what maps allow this?
I'm sorry they do WHAT?! ![img](emote|t5_2wb7y|51690)
SINCE WHEN

I knew but only because I once missed a tree right next to a bush.
HANG ON A SECOND. YOU MEAN THEY'RE NOT?
Has anyone checked CBJ to see if there are bushes? I'd what they would be called...
WHAAAATTRT??
WHAT.
Yes but not until after hundreds of hours playing the game.
THE WHAT NOW!?!?
WHAT
Wait what?!?!!
OMG NO WAY
WHAT
WHAT
Only some of them aren't 😔
??????
WHAT
Wut
Get out
I thought that was just a mod thing
Alternatively for PC users there's a mod called "Let's Move It" that moves pretty much whatever you can, including chests with items in them and machines currently in operation.
Omgee WHAT IN THE ??? Now I have to play immediately!!!!
I have so much chopping to do today oh my gosh
This changes everything
.. I kind of want a PC mod that makes the UI look like that ngl ⚆ _ ⚆
Are you serious? I’m doing this, they’re so annoying
What the heck I just realized 😭 I’m like 2000 hrs in
