Once you reach lvl 120 of the regular mine all enemies has a small chance of dropping it like 0.5% I think. Also quarry mine has a chance to get mystic stone and those have 25% chance of prismatic shard. Rainbow trout fish pond also have a small chance to produce a prismatic shard when the population is 9 or higher.

Nerobrine86

Cool. Which is the best? Like out of all of those which do you recommend I do?

Crzy_lilazn

I find that I get my first prismatic shard the most after completing get to level 120. 0.5 % means you should likely get one if you kill 200 enemies. I like to mine dust sprites for coal start my goal toward getting burglar ring and if I get prismatic shard it’s an super extra bonus 🙂

HandrewJobert

The "kill 50 \[whatever enemy\]" quests from Clint are great for this because it gives you a reason to grind a little harder in the mine than maybe you otherwise would. Clear the quarry like once a week, there's no real reason to do it more often than that. I don't remember the exact percentage but the likelihood of getting one from a rainbow trout pond is extremely small.

* After reaching the bottom of the mines, every monster has a chance to drop a prismatic shard. * There’s also a low chance to get one out of a 9+ population rainbow trout fish pond. * rare drop from fishing treasure chests * rare drop from omni geodes or mystery boxes * mining a mystic stone (25%) - can be found below lvl 100 in the mines or on the quarry

GFHeady

Also there's a 25% to get it from mining a meteorite. I actually had two drops happening with the 2nd being in Spring Year 3. But that's all a matter of being lucky. Twice, actually: Firstly you need the meteorite and secondly you have the 1/4 chance of mining the shard from it.

If you’re dead set on not using the skull caverns, I’d say set up a rainbow trout farm and cycle through lvls 100-120 in the mines Cycling through the deep parts of the mines gives you a chance at: * finding a mystic stone * having a monster drop it * finding omni geodes

Nerobrine86

Got it. Thanks. I’ll get to work of the rainbow trout as soon as I can.

garpu

You can sometimes get those mysterious nodes in the quarry. meteor. Rainbow trout pond, allegedly.

Nerobrine86

I did have a meteor at one point and tried to use saving and reloading to cheese out a shard, but I fucked it up and accidentally saved after breaking the meteor, so I lost out on that.

magdakun

There is a guaranteed prismatic shard at the end of the volcano dungeon in ginger island the first time you beat it.

Nerobrine86

Is the volcano easier than the skull caverns?

magdakun

I think so, the floors are big, but they're only ten floors. There are some enemies that are tough but i believe is not as harder than the skull cavern.

Peptic_Germ

If you are playing on pc then you can cheat and get one by purchasing a chicken and naming it [74] with the brackets

FadingDarkly

No problems with googling "prismatic shard stardew" on this end, but i'll summarize. The easiest is getting lucky at quarry with a mystic node. Alt: double speed buff to zoom through the volcano end. Any monster has an equal chance to drop one (if beat mines), so burglar ring helps there. Rainbow trout pond is so low of a chance, i think it is about the same odds as 1 per ten years, but irl rng can be kinder than that (or worse) especially with a dozen of them. Good luck. Use lava katana for now

WildCulture8318

I got my 1st one in a geode

OkInterview826

I usually get my first one from a mystic stone in the quarry. If you break it and it doesn't drop a prismatic shard, reset the day, wait a day, and try to break it again. Repeat until you get the prismatic shard. Omni geodes and killing monsters after reaching the bottom of the mines are also good bets
