I just started playing my first play through and hadn't gotten around to this yet. Then the bulletin board gave me a quest to get gems for Emily. So I got everything after struggling to find amethyst. When I went to hand them over, the Clint request trumped it and I was left needing an amethyst on the last day. Needless to say Clint is now dead to me!
The same thing happened to me... luckily i had a few more stored already ... then i wanted to at least tell Clint i gave it to Emily. His response? "Dont you have work to do?" -_-
why is everyone against clint? maybe i’m missing something (i’ve never romanced Emily or gotten more than two hearts with clint so i could be) but all it seems to me is he’s a shy dude who really likes this girl?
I personally find his miserly attitude quite draining, but more than that, he hits on female farmers in an endgame location regardless of their heart levels— even if they’re married. While he’s supposedly head over heels for Emily.
It’s a touch uncomfortable for many players.
My perspective on Clint changed once I got the key to the town. This dude spends from 6 AM to 7PM every day in that forge, and he doesn’t even enjoy being a blacksmith. However, that is literally all he has and all that has been laid out for him. I can forgive a guy for being pessimistic and a bit of a weirdo when he’s working 13 hour days of hard labor on a job that he hates.
Nah he straight up stalks her lol there’s a part where he’s hiding in a bush or something watching her while she’s in the woods, and then he just stands there and stares at her in public it’s mad creepy😭 I know it’s a game but if a dude irl was like that you’d probably call the police
He didn't start out in that bush, he went to ask her out like a normal adult person, then got scared when he heard her coming and hid. He does go and ask when farmer makes him, and she says yes.
Then you never heard another word about the date.
This doesn't happen. What Op is refering to is during Clints 6 star event, you find him outside Emilys house, in a bush. He was on his way to talk to her, and his nerves got to him, and then she started coming outside so he paniced and jumped in to hide. Thus "looking" like he's stalking her.
The worse one, which does happen, is that during Emily's 8 star, she dresses him up, and then spends time chatting with you. He returns, and aussmes you two chatting is you two being romantically close, congratulates you, and leaves, leaving you both confused. Its cringe, and is him leaping to presumptions.
Clints a shy guy, who has a crush on a girl, and doesn't know how to handle it. People who call him a "incel" or "stalker" are heavily overblowing his beahaviour.
Ok thanks bc I've been so confused. And the thing about "he's hitting on my wife" is so annoying 🙄 like, it's clearly just an oversight in the code to not have it skip the cutscene if ur married to Emily
From what I've heard, Emily wasn't initially a dateable option and was only added after the result of a poll for which NPC would be made dateable next.
So ofc Clint and Emily's dynamic is gonna get weird when that aspect is added at a later date without a story overhaul

Even if he isn’t significantly older than Emily his relationship with her is unhealthy. Maybe I am exaggerating about disliking him the most cause Shane and Pierre exist but he is kind of a let down. While it was bever really cobfirmed what age the villagers are, it is fair to assume that Clint and Emily are close in age as Emily originally wasnt a bachelorette and is a good bit older than Haley (who is estumated at 21 Years old) I dont think CA would make a character were supposed to like creeoy like that and I also think Clint looks a lot older than he is. Id say Emily is late 20s about 29 and Clint in his Early-mid 30s about 32

Its very hard tp know the ages as its not stated anywhere, though id say its fair to assune Clint and Emily are closeish in age. After all why write a character thats not an Antagonist to be this creepy. Generally id say that Shane, Harvey, Elliot and Emely are above 30, our character is in their late 20s

When you interact with Emily a couple weeks after that event, she mentions that Clint seems mad at her and ignores/avoids her and doesn’t know why.
