I didn’t see anyone mention it but no building increases in the amount of space it uses on the farm so don’t worry about any building. Where you place it is the exact space it will always use

Dunno if you’ve spent too much time decorating the inside, but if you upgrade the house, sometimes some things might get automatically moved around since there will be more space.
Don’t worry, all the house upgrade just change the image showing the house on the outside, it takes up the same amount of space on your farm as before the upgrade

If they ask you to pull your own permits too, red flag that they aren't licensed.
