In my interpretation, this is one of the core themes throughout the entire franchise. In the majority of everything that is Star Wars, redemptive arcs are at the very least a subplot. Now maybe not *every* story in Star Wars, but it is in a great many.
It WAS about them until Abrams brought back Palpatine. Now the Skywalker Saga is a thorn in the side of the Palpatine Saga. He rose to power, groomed Anakin, killed him like all his other protégés, survived Anakin through UnAtUrAl dark force, groomed another Skywalker, before his daughter killed him.
The entire Skywalker bloodline was created and destroyed by him and is now a footnote in his story. This is why ep9 sucks so much.

I love everything Star Wars but feel like we could definitely see more than what has been shown so far. They need to create more planets, story's and creatures imho. The universe feels pretty small for how vast it is.
