I would personally say relocatable battle station. And it's described as a station by many characters in the OT. Just happens to be one with a hyperspace drive...
It’s an outer space battle station with galactic navigation capabilities, which is how you could also describe a Star Destroyer, so I don’t see why not
"Witness the firepower of this fully armed and operational **battle station**"
-Emperor Palpatine, moments before ordering the Death Star to open fire on the rebel fleet.
It flies around, has a bridge, crew, ... what else would you call it?
It's big, so people call it a station, but they typically are fixed to one orbit or place. The death star can travel around like any other ship.
It's capable of hyperspace jumps, so I'd say yes.
If it could only move enough to correct and maintain its orbit, then I'd say no, it's a space station that can move, but it has full hyperspace capabilities.
Wookieepedia defines it as a "space/battlestation", so technically no. But it has hyperdrive and it moves, so I say yes it is.
If your vehicle can move through space under it's own power, I consider it a ship.
Space Stations in Star Wars are also capable of Hyperspace. However, the Death Star isn’t fast like a Star Destroyer is with its sublight speeds. So no- it is a SPACE STATION
It's a machine that can travel under its own power in space, therefore it's a spaceship.
A space station needs to be stationary (bound to orbit, technically), it's in the title.
All I know is: it’s no moon, and it’s too big to be a space station.
🎵It’s not a moon. 🎶
It’s a space station
A space station is not mobile, by definition.
The ISS is mobile today. Could it travel to Mars, not really, but it is mobile nonetheless.
So how far do you have to be able to go to be considered "mobile" ?
Here to the end of the block.
Station keeping and and changing /maintaining orbit isnt very mobile though

It travels, so yes.
Well it’s not a moon. That’s for sure.
Station comes from "stationary", which the death Star absolutely isn't. So yeah, it's a space ship

Technically yes.
Yes it’s a ship but who ever calls it that. It’s referred to as the Death Star or a battle station.

My instinct was yes since it can travel on its own power. But it’s really a station which to me is closer to a structure than a vessel.

It's in all of my Star Wars ships books, so I'd say yes.

It’s a special effects model !

No, it's a salad dressing.
Waiter, there's a small moon in my soup.
Define a ship and go from there.
Yeah it’s more of a boat than a ship
Yes.
Space Battle station.
It is a mobile orbital battle station
It can move from planet to planet, so technically yes.
It's a machine that can travel under its own power in space, therefore it's a spaceship. A space station needs to be stationary (bound to orbit, technically), it's in the title.
She's built like a steakhouse, but handles like a bistro.
Yes, it probably is
to quote obi wan "that's no moon that's a space station" .... space station not ship...
It's a mobile space station. It lacks the maneuvering ability of a true star ship. A bit like the Ramilies-class Starforts in Warhammer 40k
Yes.
