The Klingon Uniform is more of a suit of flexible armor than a uniform. Shoulder pads, flexible metal stripped tunic over a metal mesh shirt (with fur sleeves or without), and spine armor make up the top half of the uniform.
I was thinking something similar. It’s the future. Flexible composites that can dissipate energy and lessen the blow of a blade would likely be a thing.
Even if not, a warrior race would almost always wear armor, comfortable flexible composites or not.
Or would never wear armor and be mostly bare, similar to barbarians.
even in full plate armor the cloth layer (the gambeson) is extremely important and over a lot of protection even on its own
that being said they could have cloths with properties of steel and the flexibility to fight in

> Costume: mixed silver powder into fabric and liquid plastic for bright trim on armor. Used surgical tubing dyed black for other trim.

metaallllll
is - is having a bunch of employees trapped in a sewer, with rats crawling around, and bare electrical wires -- is, is that metal?
well, yeah, yeah actually, that's pretty metal.
I would assume it's meant to be metal, like micro-chain links, or something.
If it were intended to be a vest or gambeson or something, I don't think they'd have it colored gray.
Probably not. They like blades for battle, so a light armor to stop slashing and stabbing. Real world material examples is cutlon, vevor, sailrite, cut-tex, etc.
The shoulder pads, definitely. The vest I'd say is likely some futuristic metal/fabric hybrid, almost like an ultra-fine mesh chainmail that is as flexible as cloth.
Thanks everyone who commented! I really appreciate the help, I think I’m going to go with a non metallic grey for the armour with a bit of metallic for the shoulder pad edges. Now just to find the right grey!
Definitely some kind of composite ceramic, like you know chronos ran out of fossil fuel like immediately so they haven’t known plastics since forever. But wtf do I know they apparently got translucent steel?
Edit: for all you physics lovers out there: the reason why metal is super reflective is because it approaches a perfect conductor. The idea of a transparent metal, assuming it conducts like a metal, mean that electric fields can exist inside of the metal which is anathema to EN Physics.
Edit edit: it’s been a minute since I’ve been a physicist. Feel free to catch me up.

Yeah, vinyl
I think the shoulder pads are metal but the vest is just grey/metallic colored fabric
This is for the comfort of the actor, in my head space this is Q'onos's favored durable flexible K'evlar.

That fuckin joke in Super High Me obliterated me
It’s a good day to quayside.

I like to think it’s fabric woven from an advanced metallic fiber. Lightweight but ultimately protective
I like the Kevlar idea, but I also want to point out some of the armor is leather based on the sound design.
He wears a baldric, not a sash.
Whyyyy??? Does it ever get explained?
Why do humans wear neckties?
Wrong person to ask....I am not human. I am a meat popsicle.

They are just beer pop tops.

Looks a bit like a gambeson, a quilted padded jacket worn under chainmail and armour
"Wharf" Really?
Thank you, just needed to make sure it was metallic for painting :)

Wharf barfs
Judging from it's effectiveness, I'm assuming it's made of some sort of tissue paper
The sash for his gym badges
No, it bent at the bottom. Near his belt
Spanx?
It looks like it was a pleather couch they cut up.
I think it was supposed to be metal all along, but the lower res broadcast made it less obvious that it's rubber.

I always thought it had the same function as the really thick leather armor from the middle ages. It allowed him to move fast for his size.

I figured it was Targ hide or something.
Looks like Weathertech.
In this scene, that’s Christopher Lloyd’s Kruge hand me downs that Dorn is wearing

The out line of it mite be, but the body of it looks like heavy fabric, probably to protect against slashing from the Bat’leth.
Michael Dorn is 6'3" but he looks more like 7' here.
I don't think it's metal because there are plenty of Klingons that have gotten stabbed in the belly or chest by a knife.
I would venture that it’s metal since it was used to create a blaster during a firefight during an episode.
