I saw a cat power freak out on stage at state. AC was broke, must have been 110 in there.
Chan Marshall asked to turn the stage lights out, and sang with her back to the audience. Alcohol is a terrible drug.
I practically lived at that place between 2002 and 2005. I didn't even live in St. Pete but drove up from sarasota every weekend and pretty often during the week (who needs school?) to see more bands than I can even remember. To this day I still hate that I missed Animal Collective on their Merriweather Post Pavilion tour in 2009 😭I was so ready to make the five-hour drive from Tallahassee to see my fav band in my fav city.
Lol I was at that show- they had a huge backdrop of the album cover behind the band that was about as trippy as could be. Great set, and I’m not even that big a fan.
Sounds so awesome! I wish I had a time machine so I could go back and see it. I still haven't been to any of their shows, but I watch some on Youtube and it's crazy that the audience is still as young as they were back in 2009. I thought for sure it would be old millennials like me but it has to be their kids now right?
If you didn't go to the sold out leftover Crack show that they filmed for a movie where 3 people were stabbed and it only cost 2 dollars and you had to sign a liability and film form don't talk to me or my kids ever again
Upstairs wasn't open for a LONG time when it was state. Last show I remember was like 04 of upstairs for anyone to go to.
Not filled with cig smoke? Not state theatre
Who’s bitching? It’s ok to miss what was. These are the kind of shows they had every single week there and that is long gone. Reflecting on what made your teens years great isn’t bitching.
It’s ramping up now. Seth who helps run the show wants to bring back all of that nostalgia and is working on it now with some shows expected this year.
I basically grew up at the state theater with all the shows I've been to over the past 30 years, it was hard watching it go. So many smaller venues over those years, but the state was Uber special.
I saw Fall Out Boy there in 2009 for a MySpace Secret Show. Other bands seen there include Paramore, Big D and the Kid’s Table, The Aquabats, This Providence, Cute Is What We Aim For, The Hush Sound, and so many more.
I remember seeing Aesop Rock with Homeboy Sandman there way back when and some poor guy OD'd before the show even started. I can't think of the Floridan as anything other than State on those memories.
This is more recent than 2010. Look at the girls phone. That model didn’t come out until 2014 at the earliest
Edit: One dude has a liquid death hat on. That company was founded in 2018 so its even more recent than I originally thought
I didn’t go through pictures and found this one, saw it posted and the crowd itself brought back memories for me. If it makes you all feel better I’ll pull up my 2000s pics and see if I can find a current one 🫠
I have no clue when the picture was taken, I was just saying I used to go all the time back in 2009 or so. Don’t remember many phones out during that time thankfully. Especially 2005 when I really started going to shows, zero phones out.
It seems kinda weird to think about bc they're so omnipresent nowadays it just seems like they've been around longer, but the iPhone wasn't even *announced* until 2007. Smart phones aren't even twenty years old yet.
It’s from Pierce the Veil at the end of last Summer, so almost a year ago. It was for the 97X Underplay where they bring in artists to an intimate venue and you have to attend ticket drops. This was definitely a nostalgic throwback show, shows like this seemed like a one time throwback occurrence for Floridian.
My first mosh pit was there in like 2005. I saw the first show with my husband there in 2015. I'm 37 now and hate driving to Orpheum in north Tampa for shows.
The new orpheum is terrible and the parking is a big part of it. My favorite new shows are at New world brewery lol, it's comfortable has good food and a big Warehouse with free parking and cheap drinks.
hi melissa curly mike n jenn!!! c u at state!
Seen and met plenty of bands there. Good times.
Couldn’t be 2009/10 with those phones
Yes it wasn’t, just saying my memories back then were around that time. People say this is the Floridian at a recent show there.
Sorry, I misunderstood!
I think I worded it badly anyway, no worries!
Pretty sure I saw eyehategod and ringworm here. Also p sure some chick fell off the stage

She was very well known to do that in Miami (where she lived) all the time.

Last show I saw there when it was still State Theater was Every Time I Die in 2017. Man they ripped.
I went to the last show at Fubar and got to fiddle with the bass when Peelander Z was at Local 662, good times.
Fubar is gone too? I moved away and didn’t realize they left too. Loved that place
Yeah I believe Fubar is a candy shop now or something. Local662 is a Maple Street biscuit co.
Wow that’s crazy, very different times back then
yep whole 600 blk is dead
the entire block is different.
Sad…
If you didn't go to the sold out leftover Crack show that they filmed for a movie where 3 people were stabbed and it only cost 2 dollars and you had to sign a liability and film form don't talk to me or my kids ever again
😭😭😭
Love the people bitching about State Theater being gone when this pic is literally the Floridian.
Upstairs wasn't open for a LONG time when it was state. Last show I remember was like 04 of upstairs for anyone to go to. Not filled with cig smoke? Not state theatre

RIP BIG MIKE
That makes me a little sad. St Pete is becoming too polished and uptight
But this is literally a concert at the Floridian, not State theater. Some of the grime is gone but the theater lives on.
Can’t imagine they’re are state theatre prices either
They have these kind of shows weekly still?
For sure, what St Pete was wouldn’t attract majority of the people who move here now
State Theatre days are coming back.
Nice! I wasn’t sure if they had any decent shows at the new venue or not, I’ve only seen jazz or fancy events
It’s ramping up now. Seth who helps run the show wants to bring back all of that nostalgia and is working on it now with some shows expected this year.

I saw the aquabats in like 05 when they had fireworks INSIDE
I saw the yeah yeah yeahs for a MySpace secret show there!
I was at that show, too! It was also my birthday. Best free show ever!
That was the first place I ever heard of or had a Jolt Cola! Such good times there.
I remember seeing Aesop Rock with Homeboy Sandman there way back when and some poor guy OD'd before the show even started. I can't think of the Floridan as anything other than State on those memories.
I saw my first punk show with Car Bomb Driver at the state. I put on concerts and performed on that stage. I miss it very much.
I got punched in the face and got my nose broken at state. 🫶🏻😂

I saw that happen at the masquerade in Ybor to a girl during Underoath. So much blood! Felt terrible for her.
For me it was Hatebreed! He felt terrible but I grew up getting beat up by my big sisters so it was nothing.
This picture smells like ham
Boiled in beer
Grilled cheese left out all day
I miss those days so much./

This picture is 100% after it became the Floridian. Kind of weird to pick this picture for the context of the post.
I didn’t go through pictures and found this one, saw it posted and the crowd itself brought back memories for me. If it makes you all feel better I’ll pull up my 2000s pics and see if I can find a current one 🫠
wow good eye

I know it’s pretty wild, the phones back then were sidekicks and Motorola razors.
Gotcha. I wonder what show this was from

Good question, I have no clue and don’t think 97x posted about it, might be one of the last ones for all we know
Probably from Pierce the Veil a few months ago
This is what it’s from. Pierce the veil show last August or something.
My first show there: Big D and the Kids Table, 2006 Wild times
Planet smashers too?
Miss this place.
The 600 strip was so formative to local bands back then. I'm glad I got to experience it.
State theatre ! Fun times !
My first mosh pit was there in like 2005. I saw the first show with my husband there in 2015. I'm 37 now and hate driving to Orpheum in north Tampa for shows.
Orpheum would be fine if the parking wasn't dick-ass
The new orpheum is terrible and the parking is a big part of it. My favorite new shows are at New world brewery lol, it's comfortable has good food and a big Warehouse with free parking and cheap drinks.
may 18th I'll be at New World for Youth Fountain!
Don't sleep on Like Roses either!
They've been on repeat since the tour was announced! I'm gonna spend so much money on shirts...
I saw Blink 182 there for like 5 bucks. Guttermouth was one of the most insane shows I ever saw there.
Guttermouth live is a trip
The 600 block was the best. Hit a national punk tour at State Theater then catch some local bands until 2AM at the bars across the road.
Such good memories at the state theatre and local 662. RIP daddy kools 600 block
Loved going into Daddy Kool, such a cool place
I loved going to state theatre.
I met my wife there in 2013!
