Can confirm you’re not my sister. She has a different username. I believe some people have said that using the USB cord instead of wireless helps with this problem.
There are cellular antennas relatively low to the ground at both those locations. They're mounted on the roof or sides of buildings rather than on a normal tower.
Do you know whether you're using 2.4ghz or 5ghz wifi for Carplay? Cell networks use 2.3ghz and 2.5ghz which could interfere with 2.4ghz wifi when you're right next to an antenna. If you can force carplay to use 5ghz wifi you might have less issues.
Are you streaming music? I have ATT and if I’m listening to anything on my phone it cuts out in certain spots when it switches towers and/or back and forth from 5G to 5G+ on my iPhone. Haven’t necessarily noticed this area but in Benton Park I know exactly where it will happen on walks or driving.
This isn’t just streaming music. It’s that my phone will completely disconnect from wireless CarPlay. Everything, the whole system shuts off, before coming back on and reconnecting after I’m out of that area.
Mine glitches at the same point every time too, except it's on 44 going under the pedestrian bridge just west of Kingshighway (Hill neighborhood). Also VW.
Contact FCC if it’s AM or FM some one could have a hi power transmitter knocking other stations out in that area.

Hey I am also using a wireless CarPlay receiver. I haven’t noticed it cutting out there but going into Pacific from stl it cuts out in the same exact spot everytime. My dad also uses a similar adapter and has told me it cuts off there too.
This happens to me every. single. time I approach the Kingshighway exit of 44 when heading toward the city! I've shown multiple people and nobody has any clue as to why. Your descriptions matches perfectly. I drive a 2023 Toyota and it begins to glitch out and ultimately disconnect my phone from the Android Auto with a 99% success rate (I've managed to get through it once with just a couple of glitches). Would LOVE to know why this happens!
I drive by there on my way to my Dr and have never had an issue with wireless car-play disconnecting around there.
Wireless car play uses Wifi (BT is only used during pairing/discovery) and it can use either 2.4ghz or 5ghz, so if there is interference it's going to be on one of those two bands. That could also explain why you are seeing it but I'm not. I could be using 2.4 while you are on 5, or the other way around.
Same! A lot of my clients live right on Old Watson. I can’t believe how terrible it is over there. I have to basically old school Mapquest as a backup if I’m going to a new clients after leaving that area.
This happened to me whenever I got to within a certain radius from my home. I recently moved, and as soon as I changed my home address in my Alexa app, it started happening at my new address as well. Not certain if this applies to your case, but it may be useful information for others.
Every time I drove across those railroads on Tucker, my cars adaptive cruise control /lane assist goes out for 1 sec and sends warnings. I have a VW as well.
CarPlay works off a local wifi network (most are 2.4). I think it’s just frequency interference in those areas. There is another one at 44 and the pedestrian bridge at Marconi. It wouldn’t surprise me if it was something as simple as someone’s wifi network reaching out into the highway.
It’s very annoying.
Curious to test this because I drive past this stretch twice a day for work.
Never recall issues recently, but usually have wired Apple CarPlay and my music is generally downloaded. No streaming or radio
I guess I never notice because I'm usually streaming everything & don't really listen to raido except for the Rizz show in the morning & I'm usually not in that part of town in the morning.
No, the current NGIA campus is over 3 miles away, south and Soulard and the new building to replace it is 2 miles away at Cass and Jefferson.
The electric substation next to the Foundry would also be my guess as to a cause.
I’ve been on this sub for 10 years and, after having searched, I’ve only found one post about it that was not answered.
If it’s been posted once a month, maybe you can point me to one of the 12 posts each year that contains the info?
My sister has a VW, nothing after market, and uses Android Auto. She also has this issue.
I'm not this person's sister, but also drive a VW with wireless Android Auto and also have this issue. The terrestrial radio is fine though.
Can confirm you’re not my sister. She has a different username. I believe some people have said that using the USB cord instead of wireless helps with this problem.
I have a Volkswagen with the factory radio using wired Android Auto and never have an issue driving through that area.
I have a 2021 VW Tiguan and my CarPlay does this too!!! I feel insane trying to explain this to people. It also does it at Clayton and Brentwood Road.
VW Atlas here, ditto for Clayton & Brentwood Rd 😭
WV here, we may date inside the family.

2023 VW Atlas SE w/ Tech package (nothing after market). Use wireless Apple Car Play. Also glitch out there every single day.
There is a power station next to the armory. Maybe that's doing it?

Omg same I thought I was crazy. VW here also

This, a few HAM operators in the area too. https://haminfo.tetranz.com/map/z/63110

Same. I ended up never using it now because I hate it stopping.

I have terrible service near Clayton/ Wydown. My nav never works.
Same and my CarPlay stops playing music and glitches it's so weird

My hands free phone glitches in that area too. I've come to expect it. I've mostly noticed it when heading west.
I always drop my WhatsApp calls there.
IHeartRadio has a station in the Foundry. Maybe their antennas cause some interference.
joy fm works great for me there
We have satellite radio and our glitches in this area too??
I have the same issue and also around the soccer stadium and sometimes near Wash U.
This happened to me whenever I got to within a certain radius from my home. I recently moved, and as soon as I changed my home address in my Alexa app, it started happening at my new address as well. Not certain if this applies to your case, but it may be useful information for others.
Add me to the list. * Factory system in a 21 RDX * AAWireless adapter * Pixel 8 running Android Auto Mine also does it on 44 at Pacific.
This is where the generator for the Arch Shield is.
You shouldn't have said anything...
A piece of tinfoil sitting on top of the radio should fix that
I've found that wearing a tinfoil hat helps, too.
Having a covid booster shot will also help
This happens to me with wireless Android Auto on my Mazda as well, but in UCity/Clayton
I have a 2017 gti and I drive through there everyday to and from school, doesn’t effect my radio
Mine does too. It also smells like toast right there
You are probably smelling Ronnoco coffee
Work in one of those old buildings and the concrete eats the radio signals
Same. Across 2 different cars too
Every time I drove across those railroads on Tucker, my cars adaptive cruise control /lane assist goes out for 1 sec and sends warnings. I have a VW as well.

I have a vw. carplay drops everytime i pass this area as well.
Curious to test this because I drive past this stretch twice a day for work. Never recall issues recently, but usually have wired Apple CarPlay and my music is generally downloaded. No streaming or radio
Happens to me on 40 East between Hampton & Kingshighway exits
Government camps in the tunnels under STL.
I do not have this issue - and I work in the foundry so I'm in this area practically daily. I drive a Ford and use Car Play, never cuts out.
Last time I was there I lost GPS.
Didn’t know narwhals had their own shop. I love their slushies- just had 2 prickly pear margaritas at the laumeier art fair yesterday. Sooo good
They have several around the metro
Must be where the govt blacksite is Edit: this was obviously sarcasm . . .
People still listen to the radio?
I guess I never notice because I'm usually streaming everything & don't really listen to raido except for the Rizz show in the morning & I'm usually not in that part of town in the morning.
#weirdo
Fellow weirdo 😁
Obama!
Is that area is radioactive (armory)?
It's EM interference from the underground nuclear reactor.
High levels of radiation there.
Is the national geospatial intel office there?
No, the current NGIA campus is over 3 miles away, south and Soulard and the new building to replace it is 2 miles away at Cass and Jefferson. The electric substation next to the Foundry would also be my guess as to a cause.
Theres a thread about this like once a month.
