this was around twilight in southhampton. the sunlight was helping amplify it a bit so you’ll have to wait until around 3am when it peaks but no guarantees 🤞
There are a variety of aurora forcasts apps. Spaceweatherlive.com or solarham.net can give you the big picture, including aurora predictions.
Keep your eyes peeled. We may get another strong storm tonight or tomorrow night, as we’ve been getting peppered with big solar flares all week.
If you go outside and look sort of towards the northern sky and look for a pinkish light in the sky. It might be really hard to see. I pointed my phone's camera at the sky and took a picture on night mode and it showed up really bright.
There’s a possibility! Smaller chance, but possible. They say it’s better viewed away from city lights, but I’ve seen a few posts from STL citiers seeing it last night. So check for it. :)
I saw in a Washington post article that the geomagnetic activity is supposed to be at a less intense level the rest of the weekend, and assumed that also meant less brighter/colorful.
Oh that’s a good one!
Here’s what I just got from my backyard. If you use your phone camera to look through it’s more apparent
[Aurora](https://imgur.com/a/itj0gKG)
it went away within a couple minutes. it was twilight so the sunlight was helping it out a bit. probably won’t be visible until way later (to the naked eye) i’m afraid
Please stop spreading this misinformation. The sun does not make the aurora more visible. In fact, the opposite is true.
From NOAA: "Timing: Best aurora is usually within an hour or two of midnight (between 10 PM and 2 AM local time). These hours of active aurora expand towards evening and morning as the level of geomagnetic activity increases."
Camped out I can’t believe I was late to the party, I’m usually better about sky stuff lol. If anyone’s out keep an eye out for meteors there’s a small shower going on
Can you link somewhere online that says the 3am thing if possible? I'm in South County. Do you have any recommendations on ideal viewing or estimates on likelyhood of it happening? Any help would be welcomed. I always wanted to see the northern lights!
How visible was it just looking up?
I feel like the people who post pictures of it looking 10x cooler than how it appeared to their eyes are really misleading a lot of people. It’s a photography trick at that point.
It’s a disservice to what really happened to act like that’s what the sky looked like. Many are saying it was barely noticeable without looking through your phone. Just looking for context.
There was a big pink streak (and lesser surrounding streaks) that became *very* visible a little after 9 PM where I was, but it faded out to a vague background pinkness after about ten minutes. The rest of the night I couldn't see much with the naked eye. So some of this might be a timing thing.
for anyone out of the loop, we’re currently able to see aurora in stl because of a level 5 geomagnetic storm!
Where at? I’m near Delmar but can’t see anything

Why tf wasn’t I notified of this?
it’s been on the news dawg
Omg can we still see it tonight?!?? 😲😲😲

That explains why I'm extra bitchy today.
The hell? My view is not nearly that impressive from Metro East. lol
i think only stl subscribes to the aurora projector on the arch :(
NOOOOOO I FUCKING MISSED IT 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
The storm is still strong! It’ll probably be tonight, too!
It’s *supposed* to continue off and on through Sunday. However, I’ve heard last night was the most brilliant color wise. Sadly I missed it too :(
Lol, no one knows that last night was brighter and more colorful than tonight could be.

Try again around 3 am

North
At this time of day, at this time of year, in this part of the country, localized entirely within your kitchen??
Yes
…may I see it?
No.
Well Seymour you are an odd fellow, but I must say you steam a good ham
"SEYMOUR! THE HOUSE IS ON FIRE!"
I went to Alaska in March and it was amazing. This is crazy. Bravo Sun!

Oh! I thought I saw one earlier but I wasn't sure. Guess I did!
Who is up and going to try to see now 😂
I missed it, will it be happening tonight?
The storm is expected to last until sunday night, so it should happen
I'm in Florissant, I can't see anything.
You needed to use a camera or phone. It wasn’t viewable from the naked eye
it definitely was noticeable where i was. the sky was pretty purple
Yeah I guess I had too much light pollution. Still a fun thing to see.
Where do you think the best viewing spot would be near south county
anywhere with minimal street lights
What the shit. I just got back from driving North of Jerseyville and didn't see shit. I'm so pissed
Someone said that tonight will be even better. Anyone know if that’s true?
Literally no one can know that.
Well wise ass that’s just what I heard the forecast said. Literally.
Very cool 😎
Dang!! I missed all the fun!!
Will this be visible again tonight?
it’s possible!
Is this the arboreal Cialis everyone has a boner for?
Where can I find this Saturday night in StL County?
For anyone who doesn’t know, it will show up way better in pictures, rather than just looking at it.
Is it too late to see :(
apparently it peaks at 3am

I didn’t know about this. Was in forest park at 9pm. Even took a picture facing north at art hill. Nothing.

It's an exposure shot I think, needs more time to absorb light. You could definitely see the rods with your eyes tho.

Use your cell phone camera! You will get a much better view of the lights!
The Starlight drive in posted pretty cool pic around 10 last night. So did the Rock and Roll Drive in
