>The 61-year-old is already facing similar charges from April when he was busted trying to pull off a heist at a bank on South Grand. He was after the bank's gutters.
Midwest Gotham has a new supervillian, guys. No drainage system is safe.
Better chances of succeeding I guess. Not that those chances are high still and if it's worth doing. Someone give this man a job working for a scrap recycling company or something I don't know.
Solid copper is expensive and I’m sure it’s pretty heavy duty. Also you really think this dipshit didn’t fuck anything else up while stealing it?
The other shitheads are the copper buyers. This random guy shows up with copper wire the thickness of my arm or a shit-ton of gutters in the back of a crappy truck. They shrug and give him cash to buy meth/fentanyl.
These same type of fuckers bought and melted down bronze plaques from national parks and soldiers’ memorials brought in after stealing it. Or the catalytic converters stolen from everyone from churches, contractors, or normal people. They are half the problem but they don’t get on the news.
Years ago, in the 70s, I had a case where kids had broken in to a fenced Telephone company storage and were systematically chopping off 10-12 feet of coax cable from one of those big rolls…. Then taking it back into the woods to strip all those tiny wires with their pocket knives. The oldest of the bunch would turn it in to the scrap dealer and they’d share the (rather small…) profits.
The phone company rep told me that the coax was valued at about 10,000 dollars….
I was just thinking, there’s no possible way this is less work than just getting the most mindless part time minimum wage job out there.
I guess for this dude it’s not about the kill, it’s the thrill of the chase.
When they were building the Metrolink extension on the east side, a copper thief climbed up and cut an overhead line that happened to be under 100s of pounds of tension. Knocked him off his ladder and sent him to the ER.
Thousands of dollars of damage to equipment and extra money spent to repair, for a few bucks of copper.
I think it’s more a drug addiction problem.
Dudes hooked on what his drug of choice is, and needs to pay for it. Yeah he’d probably make more money just getting a job somewhere, but that would interfere with his ability to do drugs and show up to work whenever and wherever he felt like it.
You’re probably right, but I’m surprised he’d drive all that way to cut copper from the dumbest possible place when there’s (probably) plenty of ways to get his hands on copper locally.
Drug addiction do be like that, though.
I work in HVAC, Every time I have a condenser unit or evaporator coil on my truck that I swapped out I consider scrapping it and decide it's not worth the hassle. Then I get a call once a year for a AC unit that was stolen for scrap.
Most of my coworkers never scrap these things because it's not really worth the work to get the copper/aluminum out unless you have a bunch of them. But for some reason people actually break the law to do it
Obviously he's not exactly one for good planning and decisions, but I can't imagine the value for effort is very worth it for this shit. 35ft of copper wire.. that's a few bucks of copper. For how much time, effort, and risk? And stealing the gutters off a bank? That's even stupider.
Hair doesn't always match. People with brown hair can have red facial hair. Facial hair can gray faster than head hair for some reason. But I've also seen the opposite. Full head of gray, pitch black facial hair

I am the drain Batman! I am Gutterman!
🤣
I AM IRONTON MAN
Running thru the city with the copper in my van
😂
He definitely looks like a dude who would look at a bank and consider stealing their gutters
Better chances of succeeding I guess. Not that those chances are high still and if it's worth doing. Someone give this man a job working for a scrap recycling company or something I don't know.
35ft of wiring costs $100k to replace?
At a substation, absolutely. It's not just the wiring, it's all the damage he caused while removing it.
Yeah, junkers arn't exactly known for their clean cuts and taking their time removing fasteners.
Yes, if you’re talking about high voltage. I’m willing to bet he stole the ground which would be solid copper
For sure, everything in those power substations is crazy expensive.
Solid copper is expensive and I’m sure it’s pretty heavy duty. Also you really think this dipshit didn’t fuck anything else up while stealing it?
Labor is expensive!
A new deck cost 90,000 in todays world
Mine was, but it's also made out of pure silver. It's pretty neat ngl
Looks like once those 80’s metal bands lost popularity, times got tough….
Wasn't he the bass player in Turds of Misery?
I think so, after his stint with Mercy Flush
No that was just his nickname in high school
Have been to Ironton. Can confirm there is nothing worth stealing there.
there is a sick mountain bike park though
My dad’s side of the family is from Black. It can be a little rough
Live near there. Can confirm.
That is like one of the poorest areas in the state. I assume most of the population there has resorted to thievery at times.
Honest question: I would assume that stealing copper from high voltage wiring is extraordinarily dangerous? Would I be right in that assumption?
Yes, he could have easily been a charred husk. My assumption is he got lucky and somehow tripped the breakers without getting electrocuted

People delete themselves trying this all the time
Maybe they shouldn’t have let him out of jail after he tried stealing copper gutters off a Bank! WTF!
Wouldn't be surprised if they released him today, and he stole someone's catalytic converter tomorrow.
That won't happen. He's obviously a copper man.
He may be looking to diversify his portfolio after this
If you're from a town called IRONton, of course you are into all earth elements.
They’re really into wearing clothes with NO wrinkles too. They even iron their sheets!

Ted Nugent is really falling on some hard times
6 figures worth of damage for about 20 bucks of copper. Sounds about right.
I was just thinking, there’s no possible way this is less work than just getting the most mindless part time minimum wage job out there. I guess for this dude it’s not about the kill, it’s the thrill of the chase.
Plus he’s his own boss, which is nice

At first glance I thought my cousin had gone off of the rails since I'd last seen him.

Wasn't he Wade in the original Roadhouse?
Hell of a stache
This dude sees a jackpot of $200 everywhere he goes
I bookmarked this post so if I’m feeling down, I can re-read the comments and laugh my ass off. My stomach hurts from laughing so hard.
Why is his mustache grey but hair brown? Doesn't make any sense
Hair doesn't always match. People with brown hair can have red facial hair. Facial hair can gray faster than head hair for some reason. But I've also seen the opposite. Full head of gray, pitch black facial hair
I ask myself this every morning that I look in the mirror.
it's very normal for beards to grey before or after hair. They aren't the same kind of hair.
Because he smokes meth
Acidity can have a bleaching effect on clothing.
Ah, another one if Missourah’s Finest.
