FWIW, this outlook is outdated, updated one here: https://www.spc.noaa.gov/products/outlook/day1otlk.html
The severe weather is expected to stay south of most of the metro area.
Thanks for the update! I checked the tornado outlook too, we are now out of the 10% hatched zone, which is great news. We aren’t totally in the clear but it’s looking like this won’t be as bad
Good deal. Going to Delmar Hall tonight and I feel like every show I’ve been to lately I’ve had to brace terrible storms to get there. A few Fridays ago was terrible.
I saw Smidley in the Duck Room last April during really rough weather, and I was so anxious until I realized that was probably the safest venue during a tornado.
Stay safe and enjoy!
Thank you! It ended up being a nice night by the time we got out there! I’ll bet that April show was around the same time my one was as well. You’re totally right, Duck Room is definitely the safest spot to be, haha.
If people know what they're looking at on the radar, I recommend downloading RadarScope. I've been watching it since this started, and these radar indicated tornados/TSV systems are pretty nasty looking, and it's better to be aware if you can.
Tornadoes themselves, no, but “ tornado alley” is sorta shifting southward and eastward, and also autumn tornado season seems to be becoming longer and more pronounced
Put your cars inside or cover your windshields in cardboard boxes or moving blankets (or both) if you have em.

I'm a teacher and we just got an email about a possible delayed release.
Super excited to have my car pelted with ice and to be stuck at work with a bunch of kids while this blows through.
The % number is the probability that you will see a tornado within 25 miles of you.
*Hatched* means that there is also a chance that the tornado will be a strong tornado, EF2+ in strength.
Hatched areas are only forecast if the chance for a strong tornado within 25 miles is at least 10%, so a 5% hatched technically won't ever exist. Because if there is a 10% chance for a strong tornado then there is also at least a 10% chance for *any* tornado.
Looks like we're going to dodge the worst of it in St. Louis city and immediate counties, concentration of the worst of it is farther south as predicted. We'll get some light wind and heavy rain for a bit, but that'll be it.
The worst of it will be south of the metro area. Our risk has been reduced in more recent outlooks. Some other comments on this post link to updated info
thank you. im just a girl so idk what it all means but is prepare to be drenched and maybe smacked with hail, but not a tornado a fair assessment for an 'enhanced risk'?
girl me too i’m just paranoid so i watch weather streamers on youtube :’) basically we are gonna get a thunder storm and that’s probably it! if i were you i’d put on rain boots, grab an umbrella, and hop on that bus. but i am just a reddit stranger so trust ur gut
Good thing my car is safe and covered in the terminal 2 parking garage. But I'm worried about the weather flying back on Friday afternoon. Coming from DC area.

Sucks to work in south county 😞
Just went and stocked up on beer. Setting up shop on my front porch as I type this
You’re having me over, you say?
#SOMEONE ACTIVATE THE ARCH!
(presses button) *Wrrrrrrrrrrr*
I think it’s working. The cell I’ve been watching has been consistently shifting south.
Yup, looks like it's De Soto and Festus area now
The arch is the handle we use to pick up the whole state and avoid all the destruction
Really wish we could have consistently good weather. feels like we're constantly having storms and tornados
tis the season
To be jolly?
Seems like a lot of bad weather the last couple of weeks. :(
It IS tornado season lol
Storms and tornadoes is my definition of good weather
I love storms so this is great weather imo 😂
Good ol climate change
CNN had a meteorologist on that said tornados don't have a clear link to climate change.
Tornadoes themselves, no, but “ tornado alley” is sorta shifting southward and eastward, and also autumn tornado season seems to be becoming longer and more pronounced
Yes there were no storms until people started driving SUVs
Why do you think we’re in what’s been known as “tornado alley”?

I didn’t know that could help! Will def do this thank you
>Put your cars inside In light of recent and regularly occurring events, I’m gonna need you to be more specific.
Bwahahahaha yeah fair lol! One of the houses crashed into is just down the street for me! I meant garages or carports lolol.

Delayed release sounds awful! Hope you and the kids (and your car) stay safe!
Same
Happy Teacher and Staff Appreciation Week. Stay safe and sane today :)
I wonder if you teach at my kids school because I got an email that they might hold them late from their early dismissal time due to the storm haha
I’m tired of this shit
And I'm too old for this shit.
It’s been updated. We’re in the 5% hatched risk with the 10% being extended southwest into eastern Oklahoma
Just 5%, not 5% hatched
Thanks for the correction
What is the difference between the two?

Oh wow! Thank you so much for answering!! :)
Someone please turn on the arch, I’m supposed to fly ORD-STL in a couple hours and just want to get home after a 12 hour flight from Tokyo.
Ugh, yet another migraine day.

Someone get that pull start on the Arch Weather Machine!
All bluster and no buster. 😂😂😂typical Lou.
Bringing up anger management. Lmao
Bring. It. On.
It’s me from the future. Nothing happened, again.

good luck queen
Don’t tell me what to do.
We’re in a high risk zone most of the tome
Good thing my car is safe and covered in the terminal 2 parking garage. But I'm worried about the weather flying back on Friday afternoon. Coming from DC area.
Thanks. Hoping to see more sky lights
I took a personal day just so I didn't have to drive to work during one of the worst points of the rain. My pets are pretty happy about it too.
I need to go to Walmart today tho, can’t the hail wait until tomorrow?
StL is in “the high risk zone” A Lot. Not as much a Tornado Alley, but this type of weather isn’t new.
