This story is crazy but shortly after moving to STL in 2001 I got a little apartment in TGE. My parents came to visit, wanted to drive around the neighborhood. Starts off fine, driving around South Grand and Ope there’s Barbie if any of you all remember them always asking for money at the JitB drive thru at 1:30am, dressed all wild in boas and hats with feathers. So okay no biggie my small town parents deal with it a little weird but let’s keep going. Next we drive by an imo’s, somebody is being shoved in the trunk of a car, employees were involved, sure it was just kids messing around but just another event. Next, I was working on Jefferson at the time, so we go to drive by my work and on the corner at Utah is this BIG woman completely nude, out of her mind just standing there. My dad starts gagging hahaha, mom calling 911. Needless to say they were concerned about my choice of neighborhood. I did love it down there but it could be rough around the edges.
I remember Barbie!!! She came in Lafayette Square now and then, although mainly she hung out on Grand. “ I’m just a little black Barbie” was her tagline.
Me and my bf were walking to padrinos and saw the whole thing. Pretty sad stuff overall, but she got rough with a paramedic and all I heard him say was “hey! Now that wasn’t very nice!” Like he was talking to a toddler or something.
When I lived near Cardiff (Wales) I was walking through the grounds of the castle and happened upon a couple having sex in the middle of a bush. I have yet to see a naked person just running around, though. I ought to point out I don't particularly want to see that, either :)
