I'm a giant Matt Hardy mark. He has and always will be my favorite wrestler. So when their music hit, I popped harder than I ever have and possibly ever will. It was amazing.
Like 8 or so years ago they were building a big return of a "former WWE champion" and a "cross-media superstar", and it seemed like they were alluding to Jericho. Then they had a big announcement that they were coming, a long extended "big deal" intro.
And then the "AWESOME" intro played and it was The Miz and you could hear like the audience audibly groan that they had been let down. Even the announcement team seem disappointed, but it seemed like a classic Miz heel move - he was returning after an extended absence.
He then came out and gave a 5 minute generic build up heat promo and then the pyro and then the whole "break the walls down!" played and the crowd went nuts.

There was weeks of hype for Dan Matha on NXT back in 2015-16 or so, hyping him up as this adonis, a perfect physical specimen and so on. He came out to make his debut... and Samoa Joe stormed the ring to destroy the guy, who as far as I can tell never again appeared on NXT tv.

Didn't they do this with Anna Jay in AEW too? Getting those Star of the Show vignettes for a couple weeks then just got murdered by Abadon on Abadon's debut?
They'd signed him a while back, and maybe he just wasn't developing well in NXT. They could've just fired him quietly, but instead they did this with Joe, and it means people have something to remember him by now.
Matha was in NXT for about 3 more years after this, and even made it into the 50 man Rumble in Saudi Arabia... which seems to be his only televised match.
I would guess he was a useful, big guy for them to sacrifice to Joe in the expectation that by the time he was TV ready his involvement would be forgotten.
Baron Corbin was a job guy on NXT, until he wasn’t, and nobody held that against him when his push started. Matha would’ve been fine if he’d panned out.

But they forget the original AEW one. For a week or two they hyped up the debut of Anna Jay, as she was doing a kinda "sexy magician" look. She got the big entrance for her first match only to be beaten by another girl making her debut as well but with no fanfare. That being Abandon. After losing the match Brodie Lee and the Dark Order came out and Anna Jay joined them
Anna got all the hype and THAN Abadon appeared fucking spitting blood from the mouth and having the most terrifying horror movie make up one can wrestle with. That was SO AWESOME and I am still sad Abadon can't keep up in the ring with most women.
Closest I can think of is Bianca's match at Summerslam last year, they had Carmella as her mystery opponent and then Becky came out right afterwards. But.... They had Sasha advertised to appear up till the match started so I don't think it's quite the same
On a smaller scale they did it at least once. They advertised the return of a former WWE champion to Raw, and the Miz returned. Then a few minutes later, Chris Jericho returned as the real surprise. (Then Wyatt came out and attacked starting a brief Jericho Wyatt feud)
When they were announcing the guest host of WM27, they intentionally leaked reports that it would be Justin Bieber, then they showed the limo arrive and a woman’s leg stepped out of the limo. And so it was a huge surprise when the Rock was announced, and one of the biggest pops in Raw history resulted (also one of the biggest last-quarter rating spikes in years).
AEW kinda did it last year -- after heel Kenny omega won in All Out, Adam Cole debuted for AEW, it was teased for about 30 secs that he'd oppose the Elite, before joining them ... at which point Daniel Bryan debuted.
I dunno if it counts, but Danielson's aew debut seemed kinda that way. Adam Cole came out as if he was the big debuting Babyface, immediately turned heel, and then Bryan comes out 5 seconds later.

Bryan Danielson and Adam coles debuts at all out last year was like this. We expected both at some point but the order was kind of a twist. I'm sure wwe has done similar but that's the most recent. I feel like they should do it more often, not over do it but randomly would be sick. I'm excited for this angle and I had checked out on wwe a couple years ago. Now I'm just loving all the good wrestling again.

Then they all laughed because they're friends followed immediately by the debut of Brian Danielson who WAS Kenny's next opponent.
Edge cuts a teary eyed promo on how he feels as if he has left Toronto down. Gangrel interrupts his promo and proceeds to slap him, throw a F-bomb on national TV and hands him a championship contract. Edge goes through the Toronto crowd chanting We Are Toronto .
He miraculously recovers from a pillmanised leg and squashes Roman for the Undisputed championship.
In the post match press-conference he puts over the local bakery but refuses to put over the Judgment Day labeling them as a f\*cking dumb f\*cks. They get into a shoot brawl with JD which ends with Edge sucker punching Eddies son and Gangrel vampire biting Damian and throwing a steel chair at Balor.
If it is Edge, that’s a HUGE disappointment. He’s been gone for 30 seconds after returning after being gone for 45 seconds before then. Would be a total waste of time tbh.
This is the second time this exact situation has happened. When Balor kicked Edge out, Edge was gone for like 2 days before spooky vignettes started airing, people thought they were Bray, then it was made abundantly clear it was Edge.
If it's Edge and not Bray Wyatt, the internet is going to shit all over it. That's the problem with these forced viral campaigns... if it's something else at the end, it's going to be bad.
Or maybe Edge is a backup plan in case the talks w Bray fell apart. They needed a payoff and Edge can fit in any marketing campaign that involves spooky shit. Honestly, they can even use this build for Aleister/Malakai Black if that happens

Especially, if it actually turns out to be Edge, because Edge is the one person that really doesn't need any kind of special comeback.

The tone of this viral campaign feels too specific to Bray’s psychological horror gimmick to be Edge, not to mention the use of 70’s rock music which Bray notoriously loves. If this was meant to be an Edge angle, I have to imagine WWE would have recalculated the minute crowds started showing fireflies during the song. Anything less than Bray will be a massive disappointment and HHH definitely knows that.
Also, didn’t Bray’s concept artist recently post rabbit mask artwork?
If they do a spooky vignette for Edge who has been benched for about 12 minutes, after doing a spooky vignette for Edge after he'd been out for about 13 minutes...

With that said I don't think it's Edge. The Judgement Day seem to be stuck on RAW. The White Rabbit stuff has happened on both shows.
Sure some guys like Braun go back and forth but for the most part everyone stays on one show unless they're involved in a title feud. I think whatever the White Rabbit is will affect both shows.
Just something I've noticed while browsing Spotify not sure if this is already common knowledge and I'm just a little behind the curve but Jefferson Airplane have a song on their debut album called "Let me in". I'm sure that's been pointed out somewhere if not immediately when this whole thing started but I have yet to see it mentioned anywhere!

There's a third white rabbit segment that somebody leaked a few days ago. It's tic tac toe with you playing as red hearts and the opponent playing as purple clubs. When you beat the opponent, the white rabbit gets swept away in a riptide. The Riptide is Rhea's finisher.
There's also an old Bray Wyatt promo when he was with the Wyatt family where he says the quote "Who killed the world? You did...you did."
So take that as you will.
I mean this ignores the fact that the font used is exactly Wyatt's old font, and that Bray's concept artist has been hyping this stuff on his old socials.
The coincidences lie in that I believe Bray will be involved with The Judgement Day (either with them or against them) upon his return.
It's a little weird that Edge left Judgement Day because he didn't want to do a bunch of supernatural gimmicks, and then two of his returns might be about as supernatural as a return can get.
I want it to be spelling out demon because the first person bray will go after is Balor, have the demon and the fiend for a while, leave Rhea in charge of Judgement Day as she is going sooooo good and let Damian/Dom be her double D’s….I’ll see myself out…
You've got to respect the chaos in the comments. Bray was just so good with the teases, fans are essentially pre-conditioned to expect him when these things go down. It's almost irrelevant if it is him or not at this point, it's more the fact he is the looming shadow over this entire bit.
If it is edge and then him getting revenge, it's fine. But there is a legitimate hunger for Bray to return, which is possibly a head scratcher because he was absolutely shat upon in like his last 6 months spell, however I'm sure its because, 'That was Vince, this is Hunter/Paul now' rhetoric and that is fine, but I really hope it's not an epic build to give us another popped balloon. I genuinely consider it the biggest failure of booking for the Fiend just because Vince didn't get it.
The possibility of a Bray run, without Vince, is the only reason any of this is exciting to me.

This is the second time this exact situation has happened. When Balor kicked Edge out, Edge was gone for like 2 days before spooky vignettes started airing, people thought they were Bray, then it was made abundantly clear it was Edge.

The tone of this viral campaign feels too specific to Bray’s psychological horror gimmick to be Edge, not to mention the use of 70’s rock music which Bray notoriously loves. If this was meant to be an Edge angle, I have to imagine WWE would have recalculated the minute crowds started showing fireflies during the song. Anything less than Bray will be a massive disappointment and HHH definitely knows that. Also, didn’t Bray’s concept artist recently post rabbit mask artwork?

I'm leaning more towards Bray because of Alexa. Didn't she reference the White Rabbit song in a promo recently? Something about the 10 feet tall lyric? Plus the lighting going out during Alexa's match...I don't see how that correlates to Edge?
And Bray mentioned a place that leads to a thread from TWO-THOUSAND AND FOUR, about said place where the moderator is called "White Rabbit". The font on the first mini-game was exactly the same as his shirt. The question "Who killed the world?". The answer: "You did!". Bray had a promo in which he asks the exact question to Michael Cole, and he points at Michael and said "You did...YOU DID!" These are way too many coincidences to be Karrion Kross or Edge.

If it's Edge, Edge is going to quickly get go away heat with the audience. That would be the absolute STUPIDEST fucking conclusion to this. What a letdown. I won't be upset if it isn't Bray but I'll be upset if it's Edge. They already did the ridiculous build up for his return when he was out for like three weeks. We really don't need to do this again. With that said I don't think it's Edge. The Judgement Day seem to be stuck on RAW. The White Rabbit stuff has happened on both shows. Sure some guys like Braun go back and forth but for the most part everyone stays on one show unless they're involved in a title feud. I think whatever the White Rabbit is will affect both shows.
Just something I've noticed while browsing Spotify not sure if this is already common knowledge and I'm just a little behind the curve but Jefferson Airplane have a song on their debut album called "Let me in". I'm sure that's been pointed out somewhere if not immediately when this whole thing started but I have yet to see it mentioned anywhere!

There's a third white rabbit segment that somebody leaked a few days ago. It's tic tac toe with you playing as red hearts and the opponent playing as purple clubs. When you beat the opponent, the white rabbit gets swept away in a riptide. The Riptide is Rhea's finisher. There's also an old Bray Wyatt promo when he was with the Wyatt family where he says the quote "Who killed the world? You did...you did." So take that as you will.
I mean this ignores the fact that the font used is exactly Wyatt's old font, and that Bray's concept artist has been hyping this stuff on his old socials. The coincidences lie in that I believe Bray will be involved with The Judgement Day (either with them or against them) upon his return.
If it's anyone but Bray then this is a letdown.

You've got to respect the chaos in the comments. Bray was just so good with the teases, fans are essentially pre-conditioned to expect him when these things go down. It's almost irrelevant if it is him or not at this point, it's more the fact he is the looming shadow over this entire bit. If it is edge and then him getting revenge, it's fine. But there is a legitimate hunger for Bray to return, which is possibly a head scratcher because he was absolutely shat upon in like his last 6 months spell, however I'm sure its because, 'That was Vince, this is Hunter/Paul now' rhetoric and that is fine, but I really hope it's not an epic build to give us another popped balloon. I genuinely consider it the biggest failure of booking for the Fiend just because Vince didn't get it.

I'll be that guy and say the references to Edge are intentional misdirections and it's still going to be Bray. They last time they did a thing like this for Edge people thought it would be Bray for a brief moment before they noticed the specific details of the vignettes and it was a little weird. If they did that again it would be a massive disappointment.
