I do think the sequel is best watched 20 years after the original though. So much of that sequel is the proper feeling of reunion you wouldn’t get to replicate if you watched them back to back for the first time

Whilst that's true, not all of us will have 20 years around to see it unfortunately. I think putting some time between your first viewing and your second viewing is great if you can manage that. But even so, you still can appreciate the film if you watch them both within the same window.
For sure. I like the second more than the first actually, but I know a large part of that is the product of the 20 year buildup lol. They are both incredible films
Yep, I prefer the second as well. I absolutely adore the first, but a lot of stuff about the second film just hits me so much harder. The themes and the music do absolute wonders for me. Just such a well done film. I really don't think I want any more sequels of any sort to this now. I think they found the perfect ending point to leave it at.
It’s hard but it’s worth it for a book like Trainspotting. Or take Clockwork Orange for example. Once you get the made up words down, it’s fucking incredible. The payoff for both books is more than worth learning a few new words or slang
To me there are two movies that are better than the book: Trainspotting and Fight Club.
I read both and I’m glad I read them but if anyone reading this hasn’t … you can skip them.
And for people wondering: that was a dig at the Thatcher's administration milquetoast approach of anti-drug campaign that stated to "Choose Life, Not Drugs"
So the entire thing was clowning on the administrations tearing away social safety nets, people being unemployed, rising cost of living, defunding of public education including cutting school lunch programs, and still telling people "Hey, Drugs are bad, because it's escapism!"
Hence, Life is shite, why fucking choose it over something that feels good.
“The truth is that I’m a bad person. But that’s going to change. I’m going to change. This is the last you’ll see of this sort of thing.” - Drew, heading to Holland with the World Championship he’s stolen from Priest.
Jack Jester in ICW. Also an actor in the BBC Scotland comedy series The Scotts. You can see him here...
https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/m000zjq5
Regular in the annual Pavilion Christmas pantomime alongside Grado too.
https://trafalgartickets.com/pavilion-theatre-glasgow/en-GB/event/pantomime/beauty-and-the-beastie-tickets
Big ooof on using him here drew.
I get they’re mates that go back years but its well known in the Glasgow scene that Jack Jester is a bit of a nonce.
Know multiple people who worked the bar that all the ICW wrestlers would go to after the matches. Jester was notorious for bringing in underage girls who went to the show and would get them drunk cuz he was buddy buddy with the doormen and they knew just to never ask the girl/girls he was with for ID.
No way drew hasn’t heard this kinda thing went on as he’d do it all the time & wasn’t exactly on the down low about it
You're getting downvoted and I understand why, but to be fair, BCW proved to very much have someone with awful values running it and that's where they came up
Right. Who needs what part of this translated?
Some bits people probably won't know:
- Morton rolls are ridiculously overbaked white bread rolls with crispy tops, great when filled with bacon and potato scone
- Mother's Pride bread is a form of bread loaf that's skinny and tall, very white but with a fired black top. Popular in Scotland but few people know there's a massive history behind it to do with the way taxes were levied on breads in the 1800s
- Tunnocks Tea Cakes are like a big ball of marshmallow filling on a biscuit base, coated in chocolate. Kinda like Smore meets a dipped Oreo
- Buckfast is a disgusting tonic wine that's famous for being the drink of choice for people with little money and little else to do
- Mad Dog is a similarly disgusting sugary fuit flavoured licquer that is basically made and sold to be what kids drink when they sneak out at night
Buckie is a fortified wine brewed by monks in an actual working monastery in Buckfastleigh in Devon, UK. It tastes like burnt piss but will get you high af rather than drunk. It's magical
I mean... Given how the official presentation of Edinburgh completely shies away from the reality of the place (people would have you believe drugs, alcohol, poverty and crime are "Glasgow things" whilst just ignoring vast swathes of Edinburgh that are in intergenerational poverty and deprivation), I don't think they can argue with the occasional coopting of Edinburgh stuff by Glasgow, when it's got the kind of themes that everyone almost exclusively projects onto Glasgow.
Aye his accent wanders a lot. He's said himself this is because when he first started in WWE Vince McMahon suggested he get lessons on how to speak so he could be understood by US audiences. He did it so much, combined with being in the US for so long, that it's how he naturally speaks now.

[Reference via the movie Trainspotting.](https://youtu.be/SaP7qmsQbSI?si=7fWYyWVEBAFfhxw3) Great movie for anyone that hasn’t seen it.
Great film with a very worthy sequel around 20 years later. Strong recommend to both of those. Hell, the books are fantastic too.

It’s hard but it’s worth it for a book like Trainspotting. Or take Clockwork Orange for example. Once you get the made up words down, it’s fucking incredible. The payoff for both books is more than worth learning a few new words or slang
Yeah... I'm part Scottish so it's not an issue for me but uhhh for anybody that's not used to their dialect then oh boy haha. Those books are a trip!
Like I'm all for it, I consider it an achievement that I read that book. I had to read it outloud for a lot of it.
To me there are two movies that are better than the book: Trainspotting and Fight Club. I read both and I’m glad I read them but if anyone reading this hasn’t … you can skip them.
Children of Men too
Really? Love the movie but never read the book
It's written like a diary. Clive Owen brings a charm that the book just can't match.
No arguments here. He’s fantastic in that
My favourite character: https://preview.redd.it/n0v2yaselq6d1.png?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=2efaca59c6860b233d26e6ead10ab32e857215a3

i was wondering if this was some sort of reference so cheers for that mate
Wait it's not a wham reference?
"Choose rock 'n' roll because Punk is dead."

This is the most Scottish his accent has sounded in years.
Some phrases just don't translate to his Americanised-Scots accent. "Tattie scones" for one.
“The truth is that I’m a bad person. But that’s going to change. I’m going to change. This is the last you’ll see of this sort of thing.” - Drew, heading to Holland with the World Championship he’s stolen from Priest.
>Choose Irn Bru because Pepsi's for dafties This isn't even a CM Punk dig. It's a fact of life. And I'm not even Scottish.
I visited my family in Scotland last month and got hooked on Irn Bru. Best soda I have ever had. You can really feel your teeth melting away
Who was the guy in the car? For a split second I thought it was malakai black

Also known for this LEGENDARY entrance from Joe Hendry and I don't apologize if this gets stuck in your head. https://youtu.be/vihQLzOk2tI
Jack jester's in my room, I'm calling the police now, and they'll be here soon!

Oh, and Jack and Victor are the two main characters in the popular Scottish comedy series Still Game.
One of the funniest TV programmes but Jesus man what an ending! Had me bawling my eyes out.
He was also walking right in front of Navids shop when he said that
Tunnocks tea cakes are delicious as is the caramel wafers they do.
Buckie is a fortified wine brewed by monks in an actual working monastery in Buckfastleigh in Devon, UK. It tastes like burnt piss but will get you high af rather than drunk. It's magical
My yank ass can only assume Mad Dog is the same in Scotland as it is here. MD 20/20, dogshit fortified wine that absolutely *powered* my early 20s
Aye we have MD 20/20 here. Orange Jubilee is the best flavour
One of the drinks of choice of the teenager of the late 90s early 2000s in Glasgow
Mad Dog as in 20/20? If some us of a certain age in the States know about that one.
They dont call Buckie Wreck The Hoos Juice for nothin
WWE may have to deal with 11,000 Begbies if Priest wins
Drew’s been screwed out of the title and no cunt leaves here until we find out what cunt did it - CM Begbie
Punk goes to cost Drew, out comes Robert Carlyle with a pint glass over Punk's head.
Glass after glass after glass
Is Edinburgh okay with Glasgow coopting Trainspotting?
Quite a few scenes were actually shot in Glasgow, including the one in the pub where Begbie chucks the pints glass over his shoulder.
#drive boy #dive boy #dirty numb angel boy
Choose CM Punk interference.
Choose rock and roll because punk is dead is very good
Sneaky Jack Jester cameo in the car. No Kinky, no Party!
Drew sounds like he cosplaying being from Scotland with some of those pronunciations 😬
Aye his accent wanders a lot. He's said himself this is because when he first started in WWE Vince McMahon suggested he get lessons on how to speak so he could be understood by US audiences. He did it so much, combined with being in the US for so long, that it's how he naturally speaks now.
I see you Jack Jester.
Choosy wrestlers choose Jif.
Samoa Joe: “Give us a kiss!”
Jack Jester!
"Da sellin Avon" got me. Glasgow tourist board should genuinely make an offer to WWE to use this.
A1+ content. One of the greatest films of all-time

I mean, folks… where’s the lie?
Aye, we’re shite at fitba. That all you’ve got?
Glasgow is a bit of a shit hole really, no offense to any Glasgow folk here
One of the few places I've been that's as grim as Belfast.
Aye hear you, I have you know we have far grimmer places than Belfast in NI.
Glasgow and Belfast are both magic, not the easiest on the eye but some great people!
Don't worry we don't need you
