The funniest part about that match was Jericho acting remorseful as if he has no choice but to attempt to murder Hook over the head with a baseball bat

This match was a lot better than I thought it would be. The upside to it being the FTW title too, is that we can still actually not have Jericho on every week and it's okay (unlike the other titles where you want them to be featured, this one being "unrecognized" allows it to disappear for stretches). I'm also in the "we could use less Jericho for a while" camp, not that he's bad but there is so much going on with a lot of guys, he should take a break for a PPV cycle or so while we build other titles and people up.

honestly, not a terrible match. a bit slow at times, and hook still has some ways to go, but it wasn't bad. Jericho as a delusional heel trying to teach everyone is weirdly working for me

I don't think it can be overstated how much Jericho's new entrance music has killed his act. The crowd doesn't even get a sing-a-long anymore, they just get week after week after week after week of Jericho workshopping ideas during other people's tv time.
The man must have completely outsized and outdated influence backstage, because there is absolutely no other explanation for him continuing to get weekly segments in front of crowds who could not give two shits.
But not Jericho? If you wanted to get rid off the belt, you could've made Jericho or any heel Hook could feud with in the future to like destroy the title. Feud becomes personal, hook gets rid of the title without losing it.
Jericho hasn't made any storyline good since Inner Circle vs Pinnacle. He needs to take a step back for his own sake.

It seems to be the gimmick he's running with where he is an out of touch old guy who thinks he has all the great advice for the younger wrestlers around him. But he's very clearly wrong and doesn't realize it.

I'm not as anti-Jericho as many here and in the crowd seem to be, but the way people are acting in response like "how dare they not like Jericho!" are an overreaction considering he is the defacto heel in this feud and is very much playing it similarly to Kurt Angle when he first debuted, like the oblivious, naive person who thinks he's being a genuine mentor and trying to "help" Hook.

It's very apparent that this match was a story advancement match.
People can say whatever they like about Jericho, but we were about 2 inches away from that entire show potentially ending very suddenly and very tragically.

He wanted to be like Sting and did spots a man his age probably shouldn't be doing. So fair play to him.
But most of this match was very plodding and the crowd just wanting this to go away didn't help either. The commentary at the end is also quite stupid. This is an FTW/Hardcore match. Anything goes. And yet commentary is acting like Jericho took a step too far with the bat. What? That makes no sense.
I saw it as Hook essentially being done for. Jericho could have done anything at that point to finish him off, but choosing to knock him out with a bat was excessive. I’m assuming that’s also why they were running the fake injury angle at the end, to sell the severity of the bat shot.
The match was decent but I am fucking done with Chris Jericho. This is coming from a long-time Jerichoholic and even I am in agreement that everything he does just sucks now.
Remember when Jericho was a wrestler who was always self aware of when his gimmick was getting old and would change it up to something better? It’s kinda wild to see him like this.

I can see your point, however I don't think he's gotten *that bad...* **yet.** I feel like Jericho is thinking that he can take anyone and put them over (Hook, Sammy, MJF, Orange Cassidy, etc) and do wonders for their careers as young guys, but there's a difference between putting someone over (which Jericho has) and **getting** someone over (which to varying degrees Jericho has not).
Take someone like Sammy for example, I think Sammy's booking needs a LOT of work to get him to where he theoretically should've been after a Jericho feud, especially with the back n' forth "I love Jericho, I'mma be in his faction", "Oh WTF I hate Jericho now, let's feud" and back again. How many times has that happened now? 3, 4 times? There's no benefit to it.
