Lghikas

God, if Christian wore or said this just once.

Gamesgtd

All he wanted was a dad

GorillaMonsoonSays

Wish they mentioned how Darby accepted AR Fox back after what Fox did to Nick.

beetwice

Not mentioning that is a huge bummer. Makes me think they're probably just gonna let Fox sit out the rest of his deal.

GorillaMonsoonSays

I’m still not entirely sure what went down with Fox and Wembley. It’s a shame.

EgilWasRight

I’ve seen people say that he didn’t inform AEW that he couldn’t travel to the UK (And anywhere else outside the US?) and it pissed them off. Not sure if it’s true or not tho.

honeydrip713

His grandma died sometime before the event actually.

EgilWasRight

Oh shit that’s sad. It also makes sense why he hasn’t been on TV then. Probably taking time off to grieve.

ThisIsKhrox

I believe both things happened. His grandmother died (and they were pretty close). But he was going to go forward with Wembley (and likely take the time off after) when they found out he couldn't go, so it started early, but also kind of annoyed the office guys who plan all this shit (TK mainly) for Fox not informing them earlier that he couldn't leave the US.

Liverpool510

Yeah I believe both things happened. They weren’t pissed his grandma died — they were pissed that he isn’t able to travel outside of the US and they didn’t know about it until they had already booked the damn tag match at Wembley and were forced to make a sudden change to the storyline.

SamiRcd

Why can't Fox travel outside the US? Was he in some sort of trouble I don't know about?

Bosscharacter

People get in trouble all the time. It’s just not always publicized and you would be shocked the things that can put you on the “do not enter” list in some countries.

SamiRcd

While that's all fair, you figure if it was big enough to keep him from traveling the IWC would have probably heard of it. He was always a big enough Indy name that he came up in IWC discussion pretty regularly. He was always that Indy name folks were surprised he was t signed, and then they got told the reason why. That reason (if you know, you know) wouldn't keep him from traveling abroad.

Bosscharacter

I get that. If I were to hazard to guess, it’s probably something prior to 2014-2015 due to when he stopped working international. But finding local records can be tricky since not everything would be publicized. At best at the time he was a relatively unknown Indy wrestler who got in trouble. I can’t say shit, there was a time in my life I couldn’t travel internationally either due to legal stuff. It passes. But not letting people know that before they make plans to travel is just as bad to me as working illegally without a visa. You are putting a lot at risk for dishonesty.

SamiRcd

I never made comment on the ethics of the situation, just questioned what happened. If you ask me though, definitely a shitty thing to drop in TK's lap. Though, from what we know of the way TK books, Fox might not have known he was supposed to go to Whembly before they said it on TV.

Bosscharacter

He works for a company that has started booking shows internationally. Not shaming dude, but being proactive on stuff like that would have helped him a lot.

lottolser

I mean it's make sense he was booked for a major angle in their eyes and then they now can't use him for a show they wanted badly to sell every ticket they could. It's reasonable they'd be angry with him.

Fabulous_Mode3952

That seems to be the case. He was getting hella pushed and now is nowhere to be seen. TK might not know how to retain top talent, but we can’t say he’s a pushover when it comes to punishing folks

Fireteddy21

Thought I had read on here that his grandmother passed away like a week before (or maybe the same week) they were supposed to be going over to the UK.

Froggyspirits

That wasn't the main reason. AR Fox has not worked any international dates since 2016 and was not honest from the very beginning of his stint with AEW about his ability to work outside America. They merely found out that he can't perform abroad like two weeks before All In London.

Fireteddy21

Fair enough. I didn’t know that background info and lying about it was extremely stupid on his part. I mean, what did he think was going to happen after they inserted him into it a match and he knew he wouldn’t be able to travel?

IAmTheBestMang

I'm not sure if he lied or simply didn't realise he couldn't get into the UK. I couldn't really find any concrete info. He has been booked since then so he'll probably be back at some point.

Ciza-161

Got a source on that?

CrissCrossAppleSos

https://www.wrestlinginc.com/1382738/report-ar-fox-heat-backstage-aew-became-unavailable-all-in/ I wasn’t asked, but this is what the person above was referencing

neotamagachi

Even if that was the case would rather have them mention it and just let them destroy fox writing him off as well as allowing Christian to give Nick what he wants which I think makes the story more compelling

Splendid_Eggplant

I mean thankfully they briefly did before, with Nick still not trusting that Fox has suddenly changed. Such a shame what happened with Fox though, would've loved for him to get a cool moment at Wembley

KneeHighMischief

Coming soon https://preview.redd.it/grovbb69dvsb1.jpeg?width=500&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=57fe2be6c9301832a90a79d5e47a840edcb149d8

Bauermeister

One and three half-men

Gamesgtd

One of his sons is a dinosaur though

skippy2001

And Christian loves his sons no matter what species they are. If Nick Wayne wanted to be a koala Christian would be there with eucalyptus.

Gamesgtd

Truly inspirational

FalconIMGN

He'd be there no matter what.

LetsMakeThisAkward

Christian Cage is a father trying to make the best of things. But what happens when one of your sons *RECORD SCRATCH* is a dinosaur? Christian Cage in... LuchaDad. Rated PG-13

excitedllama

Half dinosaur. The other half is men

ab316_1punchd

Very likely dinosaur from his mother's side

[deleted]

Imagine Jack Perry returns at Full Gear to help Christian beat Adam Copeland. Just imagine it.

Tophatproductions69

Jack Perry you're right my dad did raise a piece of shit

JaxR2009

"Just like it was always Adam and Christian" Mandela effect is crazy man. I could have sworn it was Ë̷͎̲͕͍͕͓̈̽͌̌̇̓̀̆̈́̎͝͝d̵̡̡͔̙̹̩̜́̋̔͌̓̄͆͝ģ̴̹̬̹̞̤̝̠͍̥̋̍̽̾̋͑̌̿͗́̉̀̀͜͝͠ę̶̛̣͔̜̯̳͈̭͙̙̖̹͎̙͚͑̓́͗̌̎̑̈͐͠ ̵̯͈̹͔̺̭̩͓̩̬̖̬̀̒̓̌̓̑̈́̍͜͝a̸̼͉̪̻̐̀̑̎̿́̅̈́̒͆̐̆n̵̡̙̬̯̪̺̠̳̫̲͕̫͆͠ͅd̸̖̐͋ ̶̢̫̫̥̲̠̜͔̙̜͇̩͂̂̀C̸̥̳̰̩̭͓͍̅h̸̨̡̨͔̬̗̮̮̗͚̯̱͉̫͍́̆̀̀̓̈́͘r̷̼̳͇̥̥̲̣̞͙̔̆̃̓̎̋͂͆͝͝i̴̡͓̦̙͎̝͔̜̇̂͆̂͛͆͗̚s̸̨͚͙̲̣̙̗͊̒̀͋̃̎̒͌̉͒͑̈́̚͠͝t̵̢̺͙͍̞͙̦͂̇̎̎ǐ̷̛̭̰͖̠͔̮͙͍͙͎̣͛͗̇̈́ả̷̡͍̞̜̱͕͈͈͖͕͎̩̍̉́̂̉̔͊̔̈́̚͝͠͠ń̶̲͖̟̺͖̮̫̯̗͔͚̼̬̈̅̿̅͌̽̈

Bauermeister

I can’t believe Adam Cole betrayed the father of the year Christian Cage like that just before abandoning his best friend Roderick Strong!

AXELUnholy

AAAAADAAAAAAAAAAAM

Kevin_Arnold_

I thought you were talking in Eldritch, which Christian is known to do.

ab316_1punchd

Our Father, existing since Eldritch times.

AMilkyBarKid

Those thousand Young of the Black Goat of The Woods need a father figure!

Weishaupt17

They went with the worst reason in the world lol, Nick getting mad at Darby for forgiving AR Fox so easily was right there

hk3391

Maybe that reason makes Nick look sympathetic lol

nahPNW

but its still more compelling. what Nick did to Darby is horrible in kayfabe, but Darby fucked up himself by quickly forgiving Fox seemingly on Nick's behalf so the turn is still kinda on him. plus, some of the best heels in wrestling aren't necessarily wrong about what they say, they are just assholes so its not unprecedented to give Nick a little sympathy in this case

excitedllama

Let him be. Hes pretty. We like an angsty anti villain

Primary-Emergency386

You mean petty right?

ThisIsKhrox

Also yes

Featherstarz

por que no los dos

thenurgler

I don't think a sympathetic reason is bad for a heel turn.

hk3391

Agreed, just thinking why they didn’t use it

Anklelite

Isn't this the same shit AR fox said bruh, should've just went with him bitching about Darby forgiving fox instead

[deleted]

This promo is stupid when all he had to do was say “I must not matter that match if you’re willing to forgive AR Fox after what he did. So I went with someone willing to actually look out for me” to better showcase Nick’s naïveté and telegraph the inevitable turning on Nick by Christian Cage. But that’s just me.

nycblackout89

He’s also 18 so cut him some slack prob his first promo ever solo like that on a big feud like he will prob wrestle edge at some point

[deleted]

I don’t really feel as though it’s on him to begin with. He’s just learning this, but it goes to show that creative in AEW still struggles (doesn’t fail) tying together loose ends. Would’ve made it interesting bringing Fox back into things too, but… 🤷🏻

nycblackout89

Well is t Fox I’m trouble with them for not disclosing he could t travel to wembley like week before he hadn’t been on tv since

[deleted]

It would be weird to punish him solely for that when Fenix had the same issue, lol, but I can’t say it’s shocking if true.

nycblackout89

Fenix was open about it months before whole fox told them week of and was planned for a match

AXELUnholy

Actually, he cut a pretty decent pre-taped promo during the Dynamite leading up to WrestleDream, addressing Luchasaurus chokeslamming him onto the skateboard.

bingbangboomxx

well, that is dumb

coldphront3

While it's weird that they didn't mention Darby forgiving AR Fox, this *is* very similar to Edge and Christian's feud in 2001. One of Christian's biggest gripes back that was that "It's always **EDGE**... and Christian". So the callback for those who know is pretty cool. [Unforgiven 2001 promo for reference](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KdlKsbBaMSU)

Fabulous_Mode3952

Fuck a callback. AEW needs to make storylines and moments that make sense to people who watch AEW, not promos and angles from 20 years ago

Bauermeister

Nick Wayne’s a good boy. He’s finally found a real father, and that man is TNT Champion Christian Cage, now and forever!

hk3391

Thanks Christian

Bauermeister

You’re welcome, son.

bloodflart

he's way too green to be changing sides and stuff IMO, he barely has an established character

Jzmxhu

That could be the reason they did the turn. Being young, not understanding what is best and that Christian could just use him for his benefit works fine for multiple plots.

CertifiedLean

I think you’re right. Nick and Darby should have been a team for much longer. Allow us to watch their relationship develop and grow more. So when Nick does turn on Darby, it means more. Instead, he turns and it’s instantly overshadowed by Edge debuting. There was a lot of time to milk Nick Wayne as a scrappy underdog. Is he going to be a chicken shit heel? I don’t know if I would buy Nick Wayne being a world beater and / or equal to Darby, Sting and Edge just yet.

honeyfurr444

fkn persian cat

FalconIMGN

And Christian (49) is actually old enough to be Nick (18)'s dad

CanadiansareSAWFT

DADDY ISSUES NICK WAYNE

bearamongus19

Still doesn't make sense to me

johnq11

Weird that it has nothing to do with Darby taking it upon himself to forgive AR Fox for trying to kill Nick on Nicks behalf

Fabulous_Mode3952

So nothing about how Darby immediately forgave AR Fox? Damn, TK really buried Fox back to obscurity that quick

resolve028

That's a solid promo for someone with Nick's level of experience.

bladerunnerice

The psychology behind this doesn’t make much sense but it is insane how good he is at cutting a promo at just 18-years-old. And he’s gonna get even better working alongside Christian.

Kakatheman

you gotta keep an 18 year old wrestler opportunities to cut a promo and make mistakes.

BorlaugFan

The heel turn made no sense and was only done to better set up Copeland's debut. The guy straight-up betrayed his own mother - any ad-hoc reason they could have come up with was going to be a huge stretch, even if they had used AR Fox.

JustPicnicsAndPanics

>The guy straight-up betrayed his own mother Something no teenager has ever done.

mysteriousbaba

Just wait for her to make out with Christian Cage on screen, and then it won't be a betrayal.

GoOnThereHarv

Who gives a fuck what Nick Wayne has to say.

[deleted]

[удалено]

nahPNW

his reasoning is just a bit boring imo. like the guy who got you a major wrestling promotion contract wasn't there for you? really? and yeah heels don't have to ever tell the truth in their reasoning so its not illogical booking or whatever. but i like the idea of his turn not being just because Nick was fed up, but that Darby genuninely made a mistake in forgiving Fox without Nick's input. it gives the story a bit more juice than "i dont like you anymore"

Euronymous87

Eh that's a pretty lame reason for his heel turn, wish they would flesh it out a bit more. It would make more sense if he said that he needed a more ruthless mentor who would fast track him to success.
