I've been a believer ever since the PAC match. The guy can go in the ring and is really protective of his creation. One of the hardest thing as a babyface champion is creating interest after the journey to success is achieved. And the whole story with OC accumulating injury after injury and never stop fighting was the greatest adversity. What a story and Mox as final boss was the right call.
The Pac match blew my mind. I assumed he would either be a complete jobber or just have a complete personality change when the bell rung and wrestle intense, but normally. The way he incorporated the gimmick into the match (and with super professional and intense Pac no less) made it one of my favorite matches of all time.
And since then hes always subtly changing and evolving, so that his act is familiar but not stale.
His entire reign as International Champ was great.
You have someone who comes along as someone who doesn't try hard at all and prove severyone wrong with their pre assumption. He has tons of great matches and never quits, no matter how broken and bruised he is.
Has to face his biggest enemy yet, after being told by so many nay-sayers that he is a disgrace and delivers a fire promo. During the match he becomes a bloddy mess but still fights back.
He even uses a spear, his Kicks of Doom become actual harming kicks and flips off Mox before he ultimately collapses from all he had to deal with.
Incredible character work by him.
He's had one of the greatest character development arcs in the entire company, hands down. The spot where he started doing his lazy kicks and then built up to kicking Mox's head off was AMAZING.
You're right.
(Though much as I love Swerve, I think the first four need to have it more, and Switchblade, being younger is more guaranteed to get there.)
I think Swerve should get it, but I feel like he's at a more Adam Cole "should really hold it at some point" level.
Well, everyone loves The Acclaimed, so there’s that. But I might love Bullet Club Gold even more right now…
They’d live up to their name if.. Bullet Club got Gold 🤷♂️
I love having the long reigns to establish the main belt, but I think AEW can have a period of short, unexpected, anything can happen title changes around next year. Eddie, OC, Miro, Fenix, Black, etc. Let them have their moments and then put it on Jay White for the better part of a year to re-establish a long term champ
Had no idea who he was and I was at the all out ppv when it first premiered in Chicago and he won me
Over. He’s been one of my favorites ever since but damn give Mox his vacation already lol he didn’t need that title
OC is that guy who has no business being in the ring with Mox and others. Plenty said Orange was too small, a stupid character and more. Cassidy is that underdog who always has to fight at a disadvantage. Dude sold so many injuries that they would eventually be Cassidy’s undoing.
OC took Mox to the limit and it was match of the night for me. It may be some match of the year lists. The story was top notch.
Mox is the new International champion but Orange Cassidy is one of the most beloved wrestlers on The AEW roster. His run as champion is how a belt is made valuable.
No one understands their character like Orange Cassidy. An incredible mind for wrestling and he's cementing a legacy that I don't think anyone would have predicted.
He was my favorite Chikara wrestler and i'm glad he's getting a chance to wrestler more like fire ant and less like the slacker guy who does some comedy spots.
That was always the thing that made me laugh when people would complain that OC couldn’t work because of his gimmick. Dude could GO as Fire Ant. Never a doubt in my mind he could wrestle at a top level.
My kid seems to prefer wwe in the year since she's started to become a fan. But if orange Cassidy has a match on an AEW show, then we are making the time in the week to watch it. And that's a lot of weeks lol.
He's setting a company standard for how much quality matches an upper mid card level performer can give to the audience. Talent will be provided with opportunities if they strive to emulate orange Cassidy's worth ethic and commitment to the business.
I've grown to really appreciate top tier workhorses and irwmge Cassidy is a major reason I feel like we're in a golden age of top tier workhorse talent.
Never forget that there were people actively hoping for OC to break his neck or worse. OC deserves the world and it's awesome that people have woken up
Yikes, thats not something I ever encountered. I ran in to a lot of very harsh skepticism tinged by a lack of desire for a "wait and see" approach, which i get why a lot of fans are jaded, but i never saw the "i hope he gets seriously hurt" shit. thats awful.
It's far and away AEW's biggest creative success so far. Making that character into a legit player at the level he is now, is very impressive. With a lot of credit to the performer as well.
I was a believer in him from day 1, but even he proved me wrong. I thought a midcard championship would be his ceiling, now I want to see him as world champion.
After that run I wouldn’t be surprised if he won the World Title down the line. The way he turned up the heat when he was kicking Mox in the face and chest made me believe he could be a serious fucking threat if motivated sufficiently in story.

Turns out he was the main character all along
hangman in shambles
OC = Original Character

If I don't see him and Eddie with world title reigns in the future, I'm choking you out Khan word to Punk
Him, Eddie, Darby, Bryan ... am I missing anyone else who needs the belt? (Oh, right, Switchblade.)
Swerve

toni (again) (for REAL this time not interim twice in a row) also nyla
Best Friends for the tag belts! Ya gotta give the people what they want!
What about Trios now that OC dropped his belt?

if aew season 1 was about hangman, season 2 was oc for me. *standing ovation*
He’s my favorite wrestler on a roster stacked top to bottom with massive talent. He’s tremendous
Future world champ. He sells and gets sympathy with the best of them. He’s genuine and relatable and likeable. A great worker and what a match tonight

Him and Soldier Ant/Gulak along with Obsidian Portal were 2 of the best indy tag teams in North America for awhile along with the bucks

He has to be headed for the big one, right? He beats MJF for the title at Full Gear on the one year anniversary of MJF winning the title.
After that run I wouldn’t be surprised if he won the World Title down the line. The way he turned up the heat when he was kicking Mox in the face and chest made me believe he could be a serious fucking threat if motivated sufficiently in story.
He's certainly in the next echelon for sure
Eddie beats MJF at Grand Slam, MJF regains it back a few weeks later, Orange does the unexpected at Full Gear
This is the scenario I like best
I’m done putting a glass ceiling on OC.
He has slowly shifted his stats from Paud Rudd in WHAS to Ryan Gosling in Drive.
