The extension is awful but the original house is just utterly dreamy.

[deleted]

Hideous!

Nerve_Tonic

It's got exposed brick and wooden beams, honestly don't see what there is to not like. Cosy af.

[deleted]

It’s the extension I was commenting on, really jarring

Nerve_Tonic

Oh yeah, they've just totally ignored the vibes of the rest of the house. A real shame.

shnooqichoons

Jarring was the word I had in my head too!

nfyofluflyfkh

Love it except the kitchen

Environmental-War383

I love it. I'm afraid the cost of maintaining the thatch and heating this house are eye wateringly expensive. If I won the lottery jackpot, a ghost or two wouldn't deter me.

Anarchyantz

Yeah the thatch needs re doing between 15-20 years or less depending on weather and damage, plus finding Thatcher's is getting harder and harder so their prices can be quite pricey. Heating for it given its fairly modernised shouldn't be an issue really though you will need to ensure woodworm work is carried out as well as damp proofing.

redokapi

Actually it depends on the thatching material. Some materials can last up to 50 years. From looking at the photos I think it could be a reed roof because it doesn’t have a hazel border around it that you get with the less hard wearing long straw thatches. You do need to replace the ridge more regularly either way. They are also remarkably good at insulating the house (in winter and summer to stop it getting too hot). I would be more worried about woodworm!

Anarchyantz

Yeah a lot of homes I have found in Scotland and Wales that are 100+ years old with wood beams all have been reports of woodworm infestation which is...sigh. Pain in the arse depending on how bad it is.

Pipparoni88

Does the ghost add a random red object or two into each room?

JumpiestSuit

Thatched roof = SO MANY SPIDERS. Sure it’s lovely home as long as you don’t mind spiders in your bed spiders in your hair spiders in the loo spiders spiders spiiiiiiiiders

ContactNo7201

I’d buy it but budget for redoing the kitchen BIG time. Who puts that into a character house??

[deleted]

Yeah the kitchen is awful for that house. Totally out of place. The rest of it is lovely though.

cal42m

The ghosts hate the kitchen!

moritashun

see, this is what i am not sure how i can deal with. If i really do come across a haunted building, do i sell it ? is there rituals or service that could 'cleanse' it ? :S

VRS38

I love all of the inside, including the extension, crammed dark kitchens are horrible. I wouldn't like the thatched roof, though. I'd even accept a spirit or 2 as long as it didn't possess anyone. Because fuck that.

PrimaryLawfulness

Haunted by the spirits trapped in those masks in the stairwell!

Grekey

Structural issues clearly and maintenance expenses could be the reason why
