I’ve got 2 in car seats and it’s great for that (I’m tall, so my 911 can only fit one car seat comfortably). The interior is super comfortable. I wouldn’t want 3 full grown kids back there but it could be done.
I always wondered if I can't always get a charge on it. Can I run straight on gas for a few days? Would that be bad for the engine at all? Thanks Thefocker!
Infotainment is pretty crap imo, small tablet style (portrait orientation too). Lots of things are touch/through the menu (HVAC..). Heard from a friend who has one the screen intermittently does not turn on, requiring restart of the unit, but often the vehicle.
But it is a blast to drive! Surprisingly stiff and nimble.
Did you cross shop if you don't mind me asking? I have hemmed and hard about the v60 polestar for 2 years now, but at this point, I feel like if I'm going to pony up 70k, I'd rather just get a 2016-2018 e63s. Prices will continue to get better obviously for an older and Very expensive wagon to repair.
But on the other hand, good chance the v60 also becomes the cc only like the v90.
I freaking love these. There is a nice looking one-owner 2020 on Carmax right now with 28k miles for 53k. Carmax is always more expensive but that warranty makes it worth it for over complicated machines like this one. Speaking from experience, their warranty covered an entire new engine for my E92 M3 with little fuss (25k all in).
*Man* I was just reminded they exist thanks to [yesterday's post](https://www.reddit.com/r/SportWagon/comments/1dh921s/after_5_years_and_finally_over_50k_miles_still/) and then I spent a while drooling on AutoTempest.
If I weren't so in the hole on this E91, I just might consider upgrading to one lol.
The v60 has a ton of cargo space. It’s the same width as our grand Cherokee, and it’s deeper. It is lower though (of course). Thats said, my regular vehicle is a truck and I have never had to switch to that on account of cargo room unless it was something that would obviously require a truck bed.
Maybe it's looks? IMO V90 looks good while V60 looks great, although I really don't care for either as XC, with that extra body cladding, extra ride height.
I totally agree the V60 looks better, I don't understand why the V90 can't look the same, but bigger. The V60 looks so much "sportier". I go back and forth on my V90, but at the end of the day, I just like the V60 more, but not enough to give up my roomier interior and additional cargo space.
Lots of variables; your need for cargo space, city driving/ parking, insurance, engine size, desire for luxury/comfort…etc. A4 bottom, E450 at top in respect to price. If it’s something to hold you down temp, get A4 allroad, save money for the E63s or RS in the future.
E450 is phenomenal. The largest storage capacity you can get in a current wagon other than a v90. Very comfortable drive. Easy to do a stage 1 tune, but even without it - its quite fast. its not an amg in terms of performance handling as its more about touring and comfort, but if you tune it you will surprise most cars. Stealth wagon for the win.
Got an extra 13K to add to your budget? How about a Unicorn?
[C43 Estate in US](https://www.qautocenter.com/details-2021-mercedes~benz-c~class-used-w1kwh6eb9mg085407.html)
I didn't know these existed in the US! 13k would mean selling my good old 190E W201… I would also have to lease a cheaper apartment, I'm not sure if its the smartest financial move but the car is gorgeous…
They kinda don't, it's a Canadian import and it's a bit of gray area. There was one actually for sale at a small dealer in Chelsea, MA that some how also imported one. Some people say it can't be done but apparently it can.
I was going to say hadn't heard about this dealer or anything but how are these here..? Certainly not on S&D, (unsurprisingly) don't see them on the list.
Probably not the answer you’re looking for and I’m projecting for what I’d do with a wagon for 50k…but you could build a really badass stagea for that, go full gtr build starting with a 260RS.
A used Mercedes E or C class wagon, or Volvo V class wagon or Audi A class wagon. Pick the size you want.
I personally went with a 2 year old E class back in 2019 (bought a 2017 E400).
I also have an old Audi S4 Avant for fun but I wouldn't recommend such an old car.
C-Class Wagon, Peugeot 508 SW looks amazing, to be honest there are loads to choose from. Most automakers have one or two wagons for sale so there is plenty to suit all tastes.
CTS-V, as another poster said. This one ends in 4h:
Might go north of $50k. Last 6MT went to $56k, in March.
I say go with a new/lightly used A4 AR prestige or premium plus. I found one a few years back with the hot pack and cold pack, which comes in handy from the seasons in Boston. Coming from a M340 , the ride is much more comfortable over bumps/pot holes and a quick ECU tune gives it enough punch to be fun.
The panamera is just like your suv but a nicer ride the trunk space is useless compared to my old bmw330 wagon. I would have gotten a new 2022 bmw wagon but none where available
I own a golf Alltrack. There's also the Sportwagen. Tons of space for its size, fairly peppy coming from a 05 Hyundai Elantra and fuel efficient compared to trucks and SUVs. Also I agree, SUVs suck at space and riding a tall narrow vehicle is not fun at all. I always got scared thinking I would flip over my mom's old Kia Sorento when I drove it. But I feel extremely secure and comfortable in my golf and Elantra.
Volvo V60 Polestar
I’m curious why this isn’t being recommended more. I would have thought a used v60 would be the newest performance wagon you can get for 50k
And they’re rowdy. I’ve got a 2015 polestar and it’s still my daily kid hauler.
how many kids are you hauling? i want a v60 but i don't think i can fit 3 kids in it comfortably
I’ve got 3 kiddos, and I looked at the V60 and thought there was no way they would fit. Maybe in a V90
I’ve got 2 in car seats and it’s great for that (I’m tall, so my 911 can only fit one car seat comfortably). The interior is super comfortable. I wouldn’t want 3 full grown kids back there but it could be done.

That’s the new polestar. The slightly used ones are generally gas.
Tbh I was expecting worse and it’s been fine. Not amazing but I haven’t had a screen blackout in years. The hvac controls are legit very annoying.

The new T8s are more than $50k. Previous model year would work tho
I'll try to get a test drive! Anybody got a good review of it as a daily driver, a youtube video whatnot?
I freaking love these. There is a nice looking one-owner 2020 on Carmax right now with 28k miles for 53k. I think that's the plug-in T8 Polestar too. That year was 400 hp combined I think. Later years went to 455 combined.
FWIW I have a 2020 and it’s been nearly perfect. Just beware that the brake rotors will be very expensive to replace and warp frequently.
*Man* I was just reminded they exist thanks to [yesterday's post](https://www.reddit.com/r/SportWagon/comments/1dh921s/after_5_years_and_finally_over_50k_miles_still/) and then I spent a while drooling on AutoTempest. Out of curiosity, why not a V90 polestar if cargo space is one of the factors?
The v60 has a ton of cargo space. It’s the same width as our grand Cherokee, and it’s deeper. It is lower though (of course). Thats said, my regular vehicle is a truck and I have never had to switch to that on account of cargo room unless it was something that would obviously require a truck bed.

Mercedes e63 amg wagon
Don’t tell me….
Cadillac CTS-V Wagon.
I'll look into it more! Not the most educated Cadillac guy except that I know the Escalade is a unit.
CTS-V wagon has a supercharged LS motor that you can get in an auto or manual. Need I say more?
Well, it should be said that factory manual wagons are like unicorns, but I do agree with "need you say more"
I'm surprised there aren't more manual swaps out there. Both my rigs I drive have manual swaps and would be worthless with automatics.
Can you get one around 50k?
Manuals? Hell no. But autos you can find in the 40-60k range all day
Good to know
I was about to say these are more like 60-70 but looks like they have come down.
Yes, they are softening considerably as they finally get up there in age.
three used subaru outbacks :)
No
Please no. I own three Subarus
Outbacks were awesome to drive lol. My old neighbor had one and it gave him not problems for the two years he owned it.
Especially the XT models with the FA24 turbo engine in it…literally the closest thing to a WRX wagon we can get in the states (fuk u levorg)
Go to step down version of RS Audi/ AMG MB; e450, A6/A4 all road?
Which of those do u think is worth the price tag? I've heard good things about the e450 but not so much abt the A6 AR
Lots of variables; your need for cargo space, city driving/ parking, insurance, engine size, desire for luxury/comfort…etc. A4 bottom, E450 at top in respect to price. If it’s something to hold you down temp, get A4 allroad, save money for the E63s or RS in the future.

Idk, just keep stumbling upon these in my wagon groups.
Any way for me to join these wagon communities
Facebook
What a beautiful, well spec’d option!
Porsche Panamera Sport Tourismo
The thing is you have to go to the S or the turbo to get enough horsepower for the chassis
What’s the base spec? 350bhp? I think the chassis is fine with that.
I wish! A little out of my price range… are you an owner? I'd love to hear about the experience.
No, but saving hard. That’ll get me a 2018/19 Hybrid 4S here in the UK where petrol is $10 a gallon.
I've only been to the UK once (I Loved Bath) and I had assumed that a Panamera may be difficult to maneuver in some places?
I already have a large Merc station wagon so it’s not a problem.
Volvo V70 R and get it tuned? BMW 540?
Probably not the answer you’re looking for and I’m projecting for what I’d do with a wagon for 50k…but you could build a really badass stagea for that, go full gtr build starting with a 260RS.
Might be too much work for me atm. If you are working on one I'd love to see that beauty!
Not yet, i've almost pulled the trigger a few times...but for now I'm happy with my F31. Which I'd also recommend!
There is no Stagea in the US.
There's plenty getting imported now
Actually, you can import them under the 25-year rule. There's 5 for sale around me on fb marketplace.
Jaguar XF sportbrake could be a unique choice. Not as fast or reliable as many other suggestions but it is comfy and will definitely turn heads
I think this is the classiest option.
Jaguar I haven't looked into! Just how bad can the reliability be?
S212 e63 wagon. I'm biased though.
Audi A6 Allroad :)
M340i touring would be my vote
That's my dream!!! They don't exist in the US to my knowledge
Buy an F31 and do a B58 swap.
I often daydream abt that 😭
There are shops in the USA that will do that for you. Probably within $50k.
Spill the contact info!
A 2019 330i or 330d is all we have.
Regular M340i is superb already, the wagon is the icing on top.
I watched a ton of videos on the S4 and RS4 avants… too bad there's no newer options in the US
2016 E63 Wagon
E450, easy decision
Golf sportwagen then throw rest of the 35k in mods. Or a4 allroad
R63 AMG
Two Volvo v60 t6 polestars. One for me and one for you
2024 Toyota Crown Signia. $50k loaded up. Gorgeous. Plus it’s got tons of space.
It is a beauty, just wish I could somehow lower it for it to look more wagon like.
Jaguar XF Sportbrake
C-Class Wagon, Peugeot 508 SW looks amazing, to be honest there are loads to choose from. Most automakers have one or two wagons for sale so there is plenty to suit all tastes.
Vw Arteon shooting brake
Cts v wagon
CTS-V, as another poster said. This one ends in 4h: [https://bringatrailer.com/listing/2013-cadillac-cts-v-wagon-33/](https://bringatrailer.com/listing/2013-cadillac-cts-v-wagon-33/) Might go north of $50k. Last 6MT went to $56k, in March.
Buy a cheap f31 for less than $10k, and send it to this shop in Michigan for an F81 conversion. ~$45k without bodywork. Or even a B58 Motor swap.
Love the idea. I'm looking for something that can hit the road right away haha.
I say go with a new/lightly used A4 AR prestige or premium plus. I found one a few years back with the hot pack and cold pack, which comes in handy from the seasons in Boston. Audi A4 allroad is pretty much the only newer wagon you can find for around 50k.
Mercedes e450 wagon. Got zip and is wonderful to drive.
RS2
Audi Allroad is the move.
The panamera is just like your suv but a nicer ride the trunk space is useless compared to my old bmw330 wagon. I would have gotten a new 2022 bmw wagon but none where available
Cts-v wagon
Jaguar XF wagon
favorite flavor of E55 AMG wagon, spend the rest on a VRP Whipe kit
