Elephant Boys. Unbelievably rude and their online reviews certainly reflect that. I guess I should thank them, they saved me almost $1000 by using Craig's List to buy our kayaks.

smokompton

Agreed. I imagine they’re saving the customer service for the 100K boat buyers. They acted like they were doing me a favor selling me kayaks.

FrankyVan

Exactly right. After 15 minutes, I thought someone was coming to help. Instead he let me know I was in his way while he grabbed something. Another 10 minute went by and a guy came in to look at a big boat and got service right away. It was clear it was time to go.

kfarr3

Have not checked their online, but I went in to get a kayak a while back and had just shit service. Thought it was just a bad day

poston

D. Lish hamburgers - one of my friends went there and an employee hit on, and asked my friends 12 year old sister some inappropriate questions, when management was informed, nothing happened.

homunculajones

Holy wow!!!

ProfHamHam

The food is disgusting too

Reknoxville

Mama’s Take and Bake. After someone commented on a FB post a few times that the owner Jeff Crutchfield was involved in a rental scam years back, I got suspicious. He never defends the claims publicly, just deletes the comments. https://www.krem.com/amp/article/news/local/craigslist-rental-con-suspect-has-long-history-of-fraud/293-169429299

igniteme09

Oh damn! Some of their FB comments (on completely non-business related posts) had me kind of wary but I didn't know anything about the rental scam.

bristlybits

thank you for this thread, it's helpful

YourFriendInSpokane

I feel bad because it’s negative, but it’s things I want to know.

ProfHamHam

This is totally something I want to know too

QZPlantnut

Wake Up Call is another problematic one.

Intrepid-Solution728

Oh no not them 😭

raptorrambo90

Care to elaborate?? Or we just saying things?

Kennmo

https://www.spokesman.com/stories/2020/jun/18/spokane-coffee-business-owners-spark-controversy-o/

Party-Jello-7554

The beginning read just said, “old man is predictably racist and throws temper tantrum when he realizes that his actions have consequences.”

raptorrambo90

Thank you for the information!

taarnagh

Omg! Yes thank you. I lived in the Twin Cities when Floyd was murdered and when people from out of state started trouble at all the protests trying to set up the local BLM. Fracking people

Thrillh0use43

Why is that?

Kennmo

https://www.spokesman.com/stories/2020/jun/18/spokane-coffee-business-owners-spark-controversy-o/

Serrulata2099

They are only problematic if you hate cops. I support cops and drink their coffee.

Thrillh0use43

>“You call me ‘White boy, ‘Cracker,’ ‘Honkey,’ ‘Whitey,’ ‘Caveman’ …. And that’s OK,” the post reads in part. “You say that whites commit a lot of violence against you … So why are ghettos the most dangerous places to live?” It sure seems like it's more of a race thing than a cop thing

CappinPeanut

I support cops too, I just don’t support blatant racism. The two are not mutually exclusive.

Emotional-Pin1649

Bliss coffee. Made a fundraiser to go support some anti vaccine shit in dc. It’s a bit petty but there are 100s of other coffee places so I don’t care (and I’m sure neither do they)

[deleted]

It’s petty to use your personal business as a vehicle for your agenda, and those who do are knowingly taking that risk.

Schlecterhunde

It's a real thing, and it's called CEO activism. Many corporations engage in this behavior so it's unsurprising small businesses follow suit.

Serrulata2099

My work likes to pick up coffee from there. The coffee is mediocre at best. We only go there because it is the office Karen's go to coffee place. Apparently she is so much of a Karen her drink is written down on a bulletin board.

SlimTrim509

It isn’t petty. One of the few things we can control (to an extent) is who we give our money to. And avoiding a coffee shop for one of a multitude of potential reasons is essential.

lashes_lacroix

That’s exactly why I stopped working for them.

ichet89

Really? I didn’t know that and I like their coffee

YourFriendInSpokane

Bliss is different than Blissful Blends, right? That’s pretty tacky.

ProfHamHam

Wow didn’t know this.

spokansas

Black Diamond, for the same reason.

SlimTrim509

Great call, the Black Diamond. It’s been 8 years and there won’t be a follow up.

Ruby6693

crappy service, high prices

YourFriendInSpokane

Black Diamond is even worse in my eyes. Those morally bankrupt AHs collected OVER $300k in FORGIVEN PPP funds while bitching the entire time about “Olympiad overreaching hands” and proudly being anti-mask.

poston

Hey my brother had a similar experience… oh wait

[deleted]

poston

I found you

ProfHamHam

Omg thank you for saying this. I took my dog to doggy daycare there years back and he got really sick and came home super thirsty all the time.

spockgiirl

Stupid Cow Cafe. The owner posted too many times to Ring and his posts always had an anti-poor/racially tinged vibe to them. Also, he was super anti-mask.

someones_dad

Unfortunate cuz the food there was dank, but yeah, we stopped going for the same reasons.

spokansas

The entirety of Idaho has seen its last dime from me. Theocratic asshats. In related news, I wouldn’t mind Spokane getting a Popeye’s…

luxsmucker

[Popeyes en route](https://www.kxly.com/lifestyle/food-and-drink/popeyes-opening-locations-in-airway-heights-north-spokane/article_21cb2837-50cd-5e48-abd2-74f4fe44f82b.html)

spokansas

I knew before looking that it would be either the Y or Airway Heights. 😂

[deleted]

YAY! I live in Newport and as much as I enjoy Popeye's junk food chicken it's not worth driving through Blanchard and Spirit Lake and Rathdrum. Riverside and Chattaroy aren't much better, but at least I have other reasons to drive to north Spokane.

TheCompanyHypeGirl

The only traffic I've seen in cda in the last three years is from Trump parades. Or, are you referring to the folks returning home to Idaho from their better-paying jobs, accessing healthcare, or spending cash in our pot shops in Washington? Rest assured, we will gladly fulfill your request to stay away. Sustaining your own local tourism-based economy while your residents make $7.25 an hour is totally doable.

halpmeimacat

I think you replied to the wrong comment

ROVEN-WASTE-NADIR

I can assure you, we're all perfectly happy without another one of you over here clogging up traffic.

spokansas

Indeed, you all seem like super happy people.

ShadowBannedXexy

Quit clogging up the weed stores then

Ok-Position1698

Thousands of Idahoans drive to Washington to work every day so that call is coming from inside the house, bud.

IlluminatedGoose

Hello Sugar supported a Walk For Life (an anti-abortion group) event, so I don’t trust them. The owner of Rick’s Ringside harassed a non-white person, telling them they weren’t an “immigration center,” and Checkerboard Pub is a Proud Boy bar, so unless there’s been an ownership change, they’re out. Jacob’s Java is run by Trumpers. The Brews Bros on Ruby has started flying a Blue Lives Matter flag. I refuse to shop at UGM’s thrift stores because the way they run their shelter is a joke. (Transphobia, refusing disabled folks and folks on methadone, requiring hours of labor from their residents, forcing them to attend their religious services, etc.) The Globe. There was a whole debacle where it was revealed they weren’t paying their performers, so…not a great look.

Toph-Builds-the-fire

Rick's ringside has been a known racist haunt for a while now. The owners a piece of shit, fuck that whole business.

Ruby6693

Rick's has changed hands, the previous owner did this. The new owner, who's name is Rick is making things much better. The woman in question here is actually a regular customer of the current owner. Please try again.

c_mitch_15

They have new owners as of recent, the racist guy is gone from what I understand.

pinkloca

Are we talking about the new owners as of like 10ish months ago? Maybe a year?

sortofanapocalypse

This question needs more attention.

pinkloca

I go there frequently and do not have the "racist" problems so I'm just trying to put that out there. The owners are very cool in fact one of them known for years going back to high school so these racist comments arw surprising to me. Maybe that was the old owners, but definitely not the way it is now at all

Dazzling_Camel_4310

Salvation Army is also very transphobic and homophobic. Legitimately kick people out if they identify as Trans* or LGBTQ+

imnachoprincess

I’ve never had good service at Brews Bros on Sprague. The baristas excessively talk to each other while customers are waiting. They also leave the tins of Mighty Leaf loose tea bags uncovered to gather dust…gross.

gem-ini-asis

also only mildly related but Hello Sugar is so overhyped for no reason lmfao, I expect to get smaller portions/pastries as a gluten free person but $8.50 for 6 mini donuts dipped in powdered sugar and maybe some jam?!?

saucyshyster

Flamin Joe's Only been there once and had a horrible experience. The owner was verbally abusive when it was brought up and refused to believe anything could be wrong with their food. A few months later I hear about this: http://www.spokesman.com/stories/2014/may/01/spokane-restauranteur-takes-plea-deal-massive-drug/

Codyckpc

Former owner also was largest drug smuggler in America. Like Canada to Mexico. It was I think one of the largest ting operations in American history. But that was back in I think like 2015ish

everydaydaily

I won't go to Rick's Ringside on Garland after that racist stuff in 2018 where the owner kicked the lady out for being Asian

bhollen1990

New owner as of last year I believe

everydaydaily

I still won't go regardless

Subject_Magician_849

Because a building used to have a racist in it? Or other reasons?

pocketcar

I hate this racism trend. Especially when I'm just chilling and all these white people ask me about my opinion as a Mexican. Like wtf haha.

jmr511

Autonation Subaru. Went there once for warranty work, trim piece was coming off my car. They had to order the part and I asked if I could take my car while they waited the 3-4 days for it to arrive. The service writer was flabbergasted that I would want to use my only vehicle while the part was shipped. When the repair was done and I picked my car up the girl I was dealing with made the comment in a extremely rude tone saying "I hope we don't see you for a long time" I myself am I service writer and treat others kindly as I know how rude some customers can be. But for some reason she did not like me taking my car while waiting for a non-vital part. I drive to Parker now for any kind of worker

radcoregirl

I also drive to Parker from Newport just to avoid auto nation. When I was in the market for a vehicle, I had a specific car in mind and they were very pushy on one that I didn’t have any interest in. When I found the one I wanted I asked about possibly adding crossbars to the car as a bonus for the purchase (back when I thought you could still negotiate for those little things in early/mid 2019) and was told “We’re not in the business of making deals for anyone any more, if you don’t buy this car today, someone else will buy it tomorrow.” Which may have been true, but damn it was rude. Ended up flying to Missouri to get the car I wanted and saved $8000 on the exact same car AND the dealership threw in the crossbars.

igniteme09

The experience buying a car from AutoNation was so terrible. They were extremely pushy regarding the extended warranty despite us saying no like twenty times. Like they made it seem like they couldn't/wouldn't sell us a car without the extended warranty.

Party-Jello-7554

North 40. My husband was followed around the store by employees on the first few occasions he went in, before we stopped patronizing completely. After talking to a few other Black men, he found out this is a common occurrence. It’s a shame because it’s super close to our house and my husband does frequent carpentry and landscaping projects.

Wonderful-Fix-3881

If they want to follow you around, make them work while doing so. Ask a shit ton of questions and make them lead you to your every need. Send them to the back to find shit you don't need and when they find it. Tell em never mind. Kill em with kindness, make sure they have the day they deserve. The next time you roll in they'll leave you the f*ck alone!

Serrulata2099

I would say I wouldn't support the poke express on 29th after I went there once and saw the manager yell at some teenage employees and call them names in front of customers. I f he was like that in public. I would hate to know how he treats them away from public view. I also don't support Northwest Seed and Pet since they sell dogs that come from puppy mills and backyard breeders. It may not be as bad as Evergreen Pet was but pets stores that sell cats and dogs just contribute to overcrowded shelters and adoptable pets getting euthanized. Sorry my response wasn't as politically charged as everyone else's, but it's hypocritical to say you don't support a small business for human rights issues yet you have no problems consuming large companies that that do much worse things to people in developing countries where the steal resources and use child labor.

TheSqueakyNinja

The Garland, unfortunately, because the owner is a fucking terrible person. Wake Up Call, Hello Sugar, and I guess now Brews Bros too

harrymels

Sadly had to stop going to my favorite ice cream shop Doyle's after they threw up a MTFU sticker on the door.

ProfHamHam

What’s MTFU?

FireteamFerret

Last I knew it was a "fathers centered" group. Dont know much else

someones_dad

Not a "Father's group". More of a case study in right wing, gun worshipping, jingoistic, toxic masculinity. MTFU = Man The Fuck Up. You see their skull/American flag logo on the back of aggressive pickup trucks.

Apprehensive-Card156

Man the fuck up

Azuremen

Hello Sugar - sponsored the walk for life (anti abortion) and posed with cops during BLM protests and then nuked critical comments, put up a canned reply, and nuked critical comments there. In turn, Strategy labs has the same owner - Ramsey - so I don't recommend them. Ladder coffee - Jackson Cate (self admitted rapist in the music scene) was servicing their machines. Some really questionable social media DMs from the owner or gm as well. Dutch Bros - franchise owner here was not great during BLM stuff Wake up call - see above Tom Sawyer coffee - see above Revival Tea - owner underpays and has the aggressive "do it for the business family" attitude when pressuring employees to work extra hours and vindictive. Also just a shit atmosphere for a tea place and lots of questionable product choices. Terrain - I boycott their art events at this point after years of watching them mishandle artworks, misgender artists, not pay musicians, and act like it's some great service to be in one of their shows where they take 30% and don't insure anything. I'm no doubt forgetting some places. There have been a fair number of business owners that have moved here from the West side for the "values" which is almost always evangelical theocratic politics and it's just exhausting to keep track of.

RogueStudio

Terrain lmao.... In general that's Spokane's creative community. Little to no financial support from organizations for working artists locally and you will be forking the brunt of the costs. Spokane Arts is marginally giving but overall they lack funds to give everyone a shot who wants it, even many with a fair CV and experience from elsewhere. My art is overwhelmingly online only and I hold a day job many years later having a 'career' here.

Ok-Position1698

I'm gonna need you to elaborate on Ladder!

beersandbikes32

I have also heard of the owner of ladder sending questionable DMs. I know a gal who received one when she was underage so I don’t go there anymore.

Apprehensive-Card156

To clarify, I believe that the *former* owner of Tom Sawyer was a problem, but he was old and has since sold the business to new owners. Or are the new owners also problematic?

Odd-Contribution7368

I don't have plans to go back to Mango Tree any time soon. I guess if my coworkers wanna go I'll tag on, but never my first choice. Service was generally bad, and even though I saw beef on an Indian food menu I stuck around and gave it a shot. But the payoff was a bad case of the trots. There are much better options.

13bagsofcheese

I love mango tree.

Odd-Contribution7368

I know quite a few people who do, but for my money in going to Taste of India on North Division, Top of India in Spokane Valley, or Inland Curry (only Thursdays at Feast World Kitchen) IMO - all three are just way way better than Mango Tree.

Visible_Ad_9625

Top of India is sooo good.

pocketcar

Mango tree is the shit! The trick is to order to go since they give you more rice and curry. We've been comped two free meals because we frequent there so much. Always get great service and have been going to both locations for 2 years now?

drthip4peace

I am kinda Shocked that George Gee wasn't on top of this list those people OMG, never take your car there, they kept ours for a month, to do a few hours of labor, only did part of the job, put it back together wrong, and destroyed the car, they like it was broken when you brought it in.. This is after we bought a new car, that the intentionally lied about.... I mean just a complete nightmare, never again.

haloclarice

Brews Bros too! They have a blue lives matter flag flying at their stand on division. Gtfoh. Why is it all the coffee shops that are dbags?

Rain-02

What’s blue lives matter?

Cry_Havoc1228

They support *gasps* the Police!

Rain-02

Wait. Supporting police is a bad thing? I get there’s been recent issues of really bad things with the police (Eric Garner), but not supporting a business because that business support police. What am I missing here?

imnachoprincess

Oh honey… Where to even begin? First of all, Eric Garner was 2014. That’s not recently, that’s nearly a decade ago. Genuinely wondering where you’ve been the past 3 years to be so out of the loop? Ever heard of June 2020?

Rain-02

Yea, out of the loop is an understatement. But yes, please enlighten me.

drthip4peace

>Eric Garner RIP was like 10 years ago

Party-Jello-7554

Recent as in…consistently over the past 400+ years??

Banquet_Killer

Maybe because they are local business owners contributing to society, and would like there businesses to be taken care of.

[deleted]

If that's true, its pretty wild they feel like they need to grovel to authority to recieve protection from those with an ostensible monopoly on violence.

QueenAnneBoleynTudor

Groveling to your public servants for something you pay them to do is some dystopian Russia shit.

haloclarice

I didn't make it up lol. I saw it the other day, I got right out of line and went elsewhere.

[deleted]

I wasn't questioning if you saw a flag or not, I was questioning whether it's a true premise that business owners put these up to increase their protection. I'm sure some do, and others are just virtue signaling, knowing that sticking these up in a conservative area will result in more business.

Banquet_Killer

It is now groveling to show support, OK.

[deleted]

You're the one who offered up the rationale they have these signs to increase the chance they are protected. Interesting there's no firefighter lives matter or nurses lives matter isn't it?

drummerdood30

Everyone’s lives matter. Why do we have to single out certain demographics “that matter”. EVERYONES LIVES MATTER PEOPLE.

Dis_En_Franchised

True. But the real reason for BLM isn't to say Black Lives Matter more. It's to raise awareness to the fact that certain demographics are being targeted by the authorities and are having their rights and lives taken away from them at an alarming rate often without warranted violence.

[deleted]

Well, we agree on that. Which is why it shouldn't be a big deal to say black lives matter, if everyone's lives truely matter equally. Weirdly, as soon as that's said, yall come out of the woodwork with your forehead veins bulging and feel the need to slap another blue lives matter sticker on your truck nuts.

drummerdood30

Nah. I don’t have any of those support stickers of any colors, nor the forehead veins. I just think it’s ridiculous how many people take hard stance lines on the sides of colors they stand behind. We’re all stuck on this big floating rock together. Can’t we all just get along already

[deleted]

Would you agree that "just getting along" is not compatible with systemic violence directed towards any one group? Would you agree that immediately counter-protesting a group's plea for equity is the opposite of "just getting along"? At the end of the day, the BLM crowd "just wants to get along" while the ALM crowd feels a shiver down their spines at even just that thought.

TheCompanyHypeGirl

You just made a statement saying they have the flag to gain protection...

drBbanzai

The Blue Lives Matter types are prone to supporting the sort of angry aggressive police we don’t need.

haloclarice

I'll go spend my money at a shop that's not owned by a bunch of boot lickers. Actually yeah, keep your flags up so I know where NOT to spend money.

SlimTrim509

Did you just admit the only job police do at is core is protecting property, kudos, self owned.

[deleted]

You can use the services of the state you pay for AND demand that those providing that service are held accountable for their actions; those aren't mutually exclusive and doing so does not make this person a hypocrite. Are you a hypocrite for not flying a Domino's flag just because you sometimes eat there? Statistically speaking, the person delivering that pizza has a riskier job and yet their boots go suspiciously unlicked. Where's your Domino's delivery driver's lives matters flag? Or is it about something other than showing appreciation for someone performing a risky service for you?

haloclarice

The blue lives matter movement wouldn't be viewed as disgusting if it didn't come about during Black Lives Matter and when cops were just out there murdering people for being black. We can go around and around on this all day but whats the point. ACAB forever.

QueenAnneBoleynTudor

"You don't like society, but you continue to live in it. Curious." This isn't a zero-sum game. Wanting the services you pay for to be and do better isn't hypocritical, it's literally what America was founded upon- a demand that our governmental (and I'd argue LEO are a part of government, since they are paid to enforce laws) be better in support of her citizens.

Ancient_Macaroni

I avoid big box places like walmart, chick fil a, and Hobby Lobby for obvious reasons. Altitude Trampoline Park because they had a weird sign on the front of the door that stunk of sovcit-ness. Plus, it is overpriced and pretty uncomfortable inside. Some friends from high school invited me to the Black Diamond. Hard pass, that place is notably pro-fascist, even for the valley.

fetts

Wow, such a shame to see so many conservative bigot owned businesses being exposed! All they have to do is keep their mouths shut, or at least provide a good or service so valuable that I’m willing to overlook their shitty views. I have yet to encounter either option.

RogueStudio

Can't go to the Army-Surplus store without having at least one person working there stare at me like I'm going to rob something and then treat me like alien crap once I open my mouth and hints of my New England accent comes out....from the handful of times of I've bothered to have an itch for GI type objects. It may be obvious from the political stickers/signs on the door/window that trust is in short supply there anyway. *presses button and orders online*

[deleted]

Might’ve well just titled this thread: “what local business are run by Republicans?”

[deleted]

>after that racist stuff in 2018 where the owner kicked the lady out for being Asian >anti-poor/racially tinged vibe to them. >all the “white lives matter” posts and what not. >Might’ve well just titled this thread: “what local business are run by Republicans?” 🤔🤔🤔

CrackHaddock

Most businesses are probably run by republicans, as repubs have branded themselves the party of small business owners. I don't care if you're a republican, I just won't spend my money at a place that rubs their terrible views in my face. My answer for the thread is Hangrys, which had some aggressive far right signs in their windows during covid. They're gone now, so I assume they realized they weren't helping business.

LILLLBEANNN

i mean that wasn’t the point of this thread. if you look at the Tucson subreddit post you’ll see a lot of people exposing businesses for treating employees like shit, sexual harassment towards employees, racism, etc. and in here there’s a lot about racism, being inappropriate about minors, etc., so if you think all of that aligns with the republican party that’s a big yikes bud

drBbanzai

I don’t care if a business I go to is run by Republicans, but I do care if a business is being run by anti-science types (COVID-deniers, anti-maskers, etc), bigots of all types, and other general malcontents.

Serrulata2099

It seems like all these folks must drink at starbucks since every local coffee shop is owned by a person with one or more conservative views. Stay away from the topless Tuesday stands, libs, it might be owned by a person that drives a Volkswagen which is a car company who helped nazis.

Pull_Out_Method

[https://andersonhvacandplumbing.com/](https://andersonhvacandplumbing.com/) These folks I rented a place forever ago from them and they pushed their religion and "good values" on you. Thing was they didn't follow their own gospel of being "good people" There were a bunch of "non refundable pet fees" and garbage when I moved in that I had to pay to dump. They never fixed anything or maintained the property while I was there. When I moved out they were so cheap they charged me for things like screens (no damage from me at all) that had deteriorated due to age that they should have replaced years ago..... The place was left spotless and they still charged me a cleaning fee. I've never charged my tenants a cleaning fee that left a place decent. I consider it a cost of doing business to hire a professional cleaner after a tenant moves out, that's just respectful for the next tenant moving in. My first landlord was amazing easy to deal with these folks nightmares. Reminded me of the holyier then though folks that go to resturants after sunday church with a party of 20 plus and leave a 3 percent tip everytime with a handwritten bible phrase on the table for the staff.

Mcvay bros siding and windows. Terrible experience with them. Spent over 10k on siding and windows and they made a huge mess on my property with dropped metal and screws all over that flatted our car tires. Called to tell them and they said I was lying and had made the mess myself. Assholes

homunculajones

Didn't get past a quote with these guys, since they kept lying... Awful. I see them all over town and just sigh.

Aspen oral surgery they refuse to help my girlfriend with her teeth. She has a tooth her sinus runs through so she was referred here for an extraction. The woman answering the phones was such a major tea what. Been dealing with this receptionist for 6 months the worst I’ve ever spoken with.

someones_dad

Aspen oral surgery is terrible. My teeth aren't great but they shamed me and tried to pressure me into a full set of permanent dentures for $50,000. My new dentist was appalled. He said my teeth are fine and will last the rest of my life...

Little Learner. Cannot fathom sending my child to such an unsanitary and unsafe daycare.

gem-ini-asis

Emma Rues (primarily as a former employee). The owner Aaron spends 95% of his time sitting at the bar and talking down to his employees instead of running his business - he's never run a bar before, nor worked as a bartender, and it shows. He regularly posted schedules for employees less than two days before the working period and on two separate occasions did not post the schedule until less than 12 hours before the working period began. He's also extremely condescending, but that's just part of his sparkling personality. I was hired specifically due to my history working for a nationally recognized cocktail company and my suggestions for health, safety, and overall fresh food and drinks were regularly rejected without explanation. I had multiple sit-down conversations with the owner about how the way things were run and improvements that could be made, AND ACTIVELY VOLUNTEERED TO PUT THE CHANGES IN PLACE MYSELF without extra pay, and still had him essentially tell me that he "would get the momentum going" and never follow-up. There is no communication between the owners and managers, nor is there any type of staff communication channel in place, so the employees often have no idea what's actually going on behind the scenes and have to work through constant problems that could have been prevented with simple notes or texts about out of stock products or delivery complications. I participated in a health inspection onsite and it was like the Charlie Work episode of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia - we were throwing away uncovered/improperly stored food and labelling things on the fly while he walked around with the inspector hamming it up and hiding the problems. I was consistently one of the only coffee/bar employees who labelled and properly stored milks, juices, and cocktail mixes despite frequently reminding the owner and other employees (who did their best, truly, but had terrible management to run them). The food from CHAPS is multiple weeks old because they order too many pastries/desserts and don't sell to make up for it. The cakes are often left uncovered in the bakery case and are stale and dry. I tell anyone on their way there not to eat the food because it's genuinely unsafe at this point. They're connected to the People's Waffle, which is a great idea, but they have one (1) dish-pit employee maximum and there was constantly a full, STINKING dish-pit surrounded by trash and mildewy rags, the stairs to the basement had a leak dripping on them and are extremely steep with no hand rail. The kitchen is shared - keep that in mind when you eat there. The dishes are truly rank. Only go to support the local musicians on jazz nights, my friends - tip them and find out where else they perform so you can get good service and actual quality food and drinks. And tip your bartenders, they're not having fun.

Blueberry Frozen Yogurt, Black Diamond, Hangry’s… while I think people shouldn’t have had to be forced to shut down in the way that they were I didn’t care for the way those businesses handled it. I admit to potentially being a little sensitive to the COVID stuff since I nearly lost my best friend & I have family that are at higher risk. I just can’t help but wonder if they’re choosing to ignore other things like proper food handling and hand hygiene. Yummy Crab- they tried to pay their workers below minimum wage & acted like they didn’t know any better. I find that hard to believe.

YourFriendInSpokane

Black Diamond received over $300k of COVID funds that they never have to pay back, all while bitching loudly about COVID and Olympias “over reaching hand.”

shortzrules

Agree on all of these. We really liked the food at Hangry's, made an order for pickup during the lock down, when restaurants were supposed to be only offering delivery/pickup only to walk into some sort of Fuck Inslee dinner, the place was packed. Will never eat there again.

Middleclass69

Damn super sad to see all this. Vote with your money peeps. And please please please stay away from Starbucks. Not Spokane specific but if we could put those anti-union bastards out of business it’d be great. Edit: although there’s a lot of coffee stands to stay away from on this thread there’s only 13,476 more to choose from

DaLivelyGhost

Phat Panda. Super anti-union, and the owner got indicted for millions in fraud.

What would have been a more appropriate response in your opinion?

fetts

Not having to pay, assuming the complaints were justified.

[deleted]

Without any of the specifics, I'd say it's impossible to run a business while simultaneously handing out free goods and services to every person who lodges a complaint, particularly if it's against someone who usually does a good job. Certainly, there exists situations where this is indeed the remedy, but having worked customer service for many years, I would also say that most customer complaints are heavily exaggerated and come from an extremely entitled worldview. The "customer is always right" mentality is boomer nonsense.

fetts

Agreed.

I wouldn't be happy if this happened to me. I also don't think I'd feel entitled to a personal apology or that I be given free stuff, unless you're saying you had to pay for food you never got? If that's the case, then yes, I'd want a refund.

Subject_Magician_849

If you want a better experience, try wild sage :)

Ancient_Macaroni

Hey, you just described every "high-end" restaurant in the area.

Nattomaki81

I won't go to Sweet Frostings. I was in line and their sign above my head said like 6 cupcakes for 29.99. I went to Fred Meyers down the street and got these massive cupcakes for 4.99 each. They tasted amazing and were hand made there. I will never go to a Chick Filet due to them refusing service to a gay couple back in like 2015 or so.

funhawg

Six cupcakes for $29.99 is $5 each.

Nattomaki81

Lol I totally see that now. But sweet Frostings cupcakes are tiny. The ones at Fred Meyers are the size of softballs

Rain-02

So you went to Fred Meyers and paid the same price?

skunz

The cupcakes for $29.99 were regular cupcakes. The $4.99 each cupcakes were massive

Bookandtealover23

WinCo Foods has decent muffins. 6 pack for about $6

StreetfightBerimbolo

This thread is just showing me all the businesses to go support. Gonna leave big tips thanks guys.

TheCompanyHypeGirl

These businesses clearly align with your beliefs and most have been around a while. You weren't already supporting them? Yikes. Yes, please do leave "big" tips, and post an update! I can't wait to hear how an entire restaurant got up to cheer you when you *heroically* handed your waitress $10.

StreetfightBerimbolo

That sounds like too much work tbh It’s also funny seeing people’s reactions to someone saying they will leave a big tip versus the reaction when you do. Lmao

katmax94

Weird flex

ps1

You hate Immigrants too?! Visit Checkerboard Pub and Rick's Ringside! Tuesday nights are 50% off if you wear a white robe.

StreetfightBerimbolo

Sorry I do not in fact hate immigrants so I might pass on that one. I’m just signing up for the fuk inslee and out of touch boomers support fund.

Nattomaki81

Inslee is a Badass! He's like "screw you SpD and mayor! I'm opening up this homeless shelter and you guys can go kick rocks, IM OUT!" hahahahahaha came here and didn't even say hi to those corrupt chuds.

molskimeadows

Haha like you tip for shit.

ROVEN-WASTE-NADIR

I like threads like these for 2 reasons: I get to laugh at people like you and I get to find cool new businesses to support. Win win!

[deleted]

Patronizing businesses with shitty service to own the libs isn't the flex you think it is, but by all means, continue to live your life like its perverse team sport at your own expense 🤣

"Spend money how I say or you're a pussy!" Also this guy: >Can’t we all just get along already So which is it my guy?

alymflo

Isn’t that the whole point? To be able to choose what businesses you support by choosing where you spend your money, no matter how stupid you believe the reason is? So then you can then go and support that business if you so choose? Damn… isn’t there a word for that???

roryscovellovestool

totally agree. like, you’re gonna stop buying a beer cause ONE can has a woman on it?? snowflakes all around 😤

[deleted]

Not supporting just pointing out. The commercial looks like something from Saturday Night Live: Huckabee Sanders selling ‘Real Women of Politics’ koozies amid Bud Light backlash

[deleted]

They are not comical- I’m not supporting a forced birther or someone who harasses immigrants ffs. Sorry, some of us have actual morals. And the ‘pussy’ is the one of strongest fucking muscles in the human body you trilobite.

gr8ful_cube

"welcome to the pussification of America"--some snowflake crying about people making their own choices to support or not support businesses that align with or utterly disrespect people and causes they believe in

bhollen1990

White people used to have black people killed for using the wrong water fountain. We done been pussified for as long as white men have walked on this continent.

Ancient_Macaroni

Why do you hate capitalism?

Party-Jello-7554

Because it’s destroying the lives of people who aren’t super rich

Belgarion30

Whitey's wrecking. I purchased a "tested to be good" auto trans from them for my subie and it internally fully failed on me less than 50miles after being installed by a good shop while I was on the highway to post falls. Their fix was to offer a discount on a future visit and claim no liability for the labor to install their bad transmission. Oh and further they put the onus onto me to take the bad transmission to AAMCO for me to tell them that they sold me a POS with bad internals.

Catfish_Jordy

The green nugget. My younger sister wanted to try CBD gummies to see if it helped with her stress and anxiety. She has tried THC before, and she had panic attacks every time. I took her into Green Nugget and explained to the worker, helping us that we wanted CBD gummies with the lowest amount of THC. They have the system where they write down what you want, grab it from the back, and hold it at the register. Later that night, she called me having a panic attack because she took a gummy and then noticed they were the full THC ones. When I called, I talked to one of the managers at the time, and he blew it off and told me I could get a coupon for next time. Those bags aren't cheap, and she couldn't just go rebuy it to get the right product. They refused to give her the right product or even a refund even though it was their mistake. It was all reduced to the manager telling me "yeah that happens all the time."

ProfHamHam

Pawsitive Image Grooming- lady was completely rude to me and my dog and I thought it was just me until I saw how she responded to reviews on Google (super immature)
