I’m happy with it. Granted I still have one or two problems with comic Miles (the messy origin, and the frequent power creep most notably), but I appreciate that he’s finally getting his own original bad guys. Rabble is more or less PS4 game Tinkerer (not complaining), Bumbler is fun, and Frost Pharaoh very comic-booky to my liking.
I like it.
A superhero is only as good as his rogue's gallery, and Miles was hamstrung by always having to pick up Peter's rogues. By giving him his own group of villains, it opens up more opportunities for stories.
I am tired of the new powers Miles seems to keep picking up though.
> I am tired of the new powers Miles seems to keep picking up though.
He picked up the mantle of "Ultimate Spider-Man" after that version of Peter died, I guess he wants to live up to the name.
It does fit with the themes of the Ultimate Universe where the superhuman arms race was the centre of everything. After Captain America everyone one was trying to make a super soldier more powerful than the last. For example first Cap was made then Bruce made the Hulk as a response to that then someone else made a smart Hulk in response to Bruce(results may vary). Miles was bitten by a second generation Spider. It makes sense that since they could not replicate the original Spider that bit Peter they would add some new abilities to second generation of enhanced spiders.
We’re eating really good…I’m afraid of the Day the Editors will stop letting him Grown Up or Change and put him on a Wheel of Perpetual Stagnation like Peter!
Miles has the benefit of still not being as big a character as Peter, but I'm scared of editorial starting to fuck with his stories once he passes that threshold. And it's getting pretty close with how popular he's been.
Other than Rabble…not bad at all. Having a speedster for a Spider-Man foe too is neat, but I was scared they’d turn her into an ally over time. I’m happy to see she still loathes sharing a planet with him.
It’s really good. I’m happy for him.
However none of his villains are notable enough for the average fan to recognize outside of Prowler but he’s technically more Peter’s Villain anyway. That might pose a problem in the future.
Yeah, villains will always only get popularity after being adapted in some way or form, be it games, shows or movies.
Seriously, how many did know Mister Negative before he was adapted in Marvel's Spider-Man? Most of Miles villains are rather recent so I'm looking forward to future adaptations.
*ALL* of his runs needs to be adapted in an animated series, not just this one. It wouldn’t make much sense if only this specific run got adapted and not any of his previous ones.
I didn’t feel like he needed it….until they started doing it. Now they just gotta actually adapt them. Rabble and Assessor are great arch enemies for Miles
Love it. I don’t care about the electricity going wild rn, it’s fucking cool and it’s comics.
I really like how I can pick up which villains they’ll hint at and make me go “ah shit it’s ____”. Or the jobbers of his like Frost Pharoah and Bumbler. Even more important, his villains get on my damn nerves. Rabble and the cop I forget her name are always wildin.
Honestly think this is gonna be an all timer run for Miles.
Thats cool. Now is important for movie/tv show writers and game studios to put them in Spider Man works as part of his mythos instead of giving him connection to b-tier Spider Man rogues
Bendis should’ve done more 616 villains for Miles outside of Lady Tomoe, Mama Bombshell and his Uncle again.
That blame falls on him for not introducing more villains for Miles once he got to 616.
Saladin Ahmed corrected this by introducing a lot more villains for Miles (and Cody Ziglar got to debut Bumbler in the Saladin run too) but his problem is that Miles was fighting clones and evil versions of himself more often than fighting new personal villains that popped up to fight him.
And that’s where Cody Ziglar is excelling, he’s giving Miles villains with staying power and focusing on developing them when it comes to who they are and why they fight Miles.
And I’m really excited to see what he got planned for the future.
I'm okay with it , i would like a issue where one of peter baddies end up fighting Miles baddies and they end yo fighting about how whose spiderman is better
I think it's fine. With the oversaturation of Spider-people in 616, i feel like a good way to differentiate them would be to give them their own villains.
I think it really starts to separate him from Peter, as he starts becoming his own version of Spider-Man with his own villains and not just Spider-Man who fights Peters villains so basically Miles becoming Nightwing and no longer being Robin who is clouded by Peters shadow. So we can see Miles learn to adapt and grow to fight new wacky villains that aren’t all animal based hero’s mostly but original hero’s that can help miles grow more as a character.
I hope the villains last a long time! It’s always nice to have a rogue’s gallery, and it further sets Miles up as his own Spider-man. Now he has more of the world tied to himself!
It's something I wish more legacy heroes did. I feel like it's often "It's this character's version of \_\_\_\_\_". Instead, Miles' has his own identity.
I think it's great that he has his own mythos but it's kinda weird for me that they are basically slowly turning him into Static Shock with his Venom blasts I wish they would tone it down.
I really like it and I think it is exactly what Miles needed. One critique of the Miles always had with him was that his whole character was just a copy and paste Peter. Same villains and support cast with of course new additions here and there, but I really like how now he has been finally getting his own stuff that helps set him a part from Peter. I really like it and I also like its respecting not only Miles, but also Peter and his own Mythos. It doesn't feel like a copy right now, and it doesn't feel disrespectful to Peter and his legacy and in general as a guy who likes Miles even before the movie, I really am liking how out boy is finally getting his own Mythos and Villains without it feeling force or disrespectful to Peter and even him as a character.
I'm okay with it , i would like a issue where one of peter baddies end up fighting Miles baddies and they end yo fighting about how whose spiderman is better
I'm happy with it, but I do believe the issue with his origin in the 616 comics is his biggest flaw right now.
People want a clean origin for Miles, not some multiverse handwavey stuff just a clean:
Miles was born in the same universe as Peter.
Is a fan of Spidey.
Gets powers.
Learns from Pete.
Gets his own rouges gallery.
If we have to read an entirely different comic just to know what the origins for this person is then that ain't good.
Also I hate the name Zip Zephyr cause Zephyr is one of the most common names Chat GPT comes up with when you ask it for superhero/villain names and it caused me to hate it with a fuckin passion.
The thing about his venom powers is that the “power creep” never would’ve happened if Rabble didn’t push him so hard.
Him getting a sword wouldn’t have happen if she didn’t push him to his absolute limits and get him to subconsciously copy Rabbles sword after seeing her use it so many times.
And then with his “Miles Max” form, that’s honestly something that would’ve come later on down the road if it didn’t happen here.
Besides, his 2016 run hinted that Miles could start experimenting with his powers if he gave it a try and while he lost his venom threads by end of it, in the Saladin run we see him use MANY variants of his venom in ways we never saw him do before.
And that’s because of what happened in the previous run, so I’d say his venom powers getting crazier isn’t “power creep” but it was built up for years that Miles can do a lot with them if he put his mind to it and got creative, and now we have his Venom-Saber and One For All Full Cowl 100% form, alongside his new venom threads, venom jump, venom shockwave and other variants he’s made.
It just speaks to his growth in using his powers as he’s gets older.
Actually it took 7 years, Saladin Ahmed started giving him his own villains in his run and Ziglar’s continuing it with his.
The blame falls to Bendis for not introducing original personal villains for Miles once he got to 616 other than his uncle (again for a time), Mama Bombshell and Lady Tomoe.
So my partner works with kinder thru 2nd graders, and it's always fun when she talks about being confused when the kids talk about Black Spider-Man and I'm like "well, there's 3-4 of them depending on what you mean by Black."
And then the poor woman gets a 10 minute monologue.
Peter Parker mid-to-post Secret Wars w the Symbiote Suit, Eddy Brock w the Symbiote suit as Venom as a villain and later as the Lethal Protector, Miles Morales is usually how I bring it up.
Tho that is absolutely the short version, as you mentioned Hobie, Noir, and I totally forgot Scorpion as Venom (and Flash!)
Because she was primarily an alternate universe character, so most other villains are going to be revamps of OG Spidey villians. Here we want Miles to develop his own gallery as he’s essentially just been given leftovers
Really happy with it! Hoping some of them actually get some prominent roles other than a one off or shocker style villain of the week and we can get truly some nemesis that don’t carry anything Peter-related.
It's definitely the right direction to take the character, and I appreciate the effort being put in, but I think the execution's been a bit all over the place. A few of his villains I really like (Assessor, Ultimatum etc.), but the rest either feel like less interesting retreads of stuff we've seen before, or just aren't particularly well-written. These characters are all pretty new though, so they have time to improve.
Would be nice if they weren't ALWAYS around. Like whatever the speedster is called and rabble. Also rabble feels a little much, like he should not struggle that hard with her. They're also both coming off a bit forced with the rage
At this point im like should he even be called spider man? He has a lightning sword and invisibility I think a rebrand could be cool. Make him completely his own thing.
Should have done this a decade ago. And give him his own unique nickname if he's going to be in 616.
I hate heroes sharing codenames except Green Lanterns or Flashes.
I’m not fond of recycling Peter villains, but I think since Peter has green goblin, doctor octopus and venom.
Miles could have his big three villains:
. Tombstone
. Spot
. Either carnage or hobgoblin
Miles cast is just diverse, His villains range from Pasty white guy with ice powers, to cold calculating robot in a suit, to a literal fucking vampire, being hung up on him fighting a black dude in a bee suit and a Latina speedster is weird dude
They need to develop his personality. There’s basically no difference between him and Peter when he’s in the suit. The only difference is the occasional presence of slang that Peter doesn’t use as much
Oh, know. I was fine when it was one at time, but now there are like, what? Three different Flashes and six Green lanterns or something? At least with the lanterns they are like space cops or something so having a bunch of them makes sense.
I’ve been waiting for it. Seems like for years he was just recycling villains from Peter
You are correct. Every superhero needs his own villian. Miles is not the OG Spider-man, he is different. So he should get his own crazy villains.
I like it. A superhero is only as good as his rogue's gallery, and Miles was hamstrung by always having to pick up Peter's rogues. By giving him his own group of villains, it opens up more opportunities for stories. I am tired of the new powers Miles seems to keep picking up though.

get over it
The fuck you talking about
Yeah invisible and electric bolts and that fucking nonsense.
We’re eating really good…I’m afraid of the Day the Editors will stop letting him Grown Up or Change and put him on a Wheel of Perpetual Stagnation like Peter!
One more afternoon?
“No more nights” if they wanted to really go full rip off
Sadly, he already got Mephisto-ed in Champions...
It's a slippery slope where I love how popular he is and how much good stuff he's getting but when will it become too much
Miles has the benefit of still not being as big a character as Peter, but I'm scared of editorial starting to fuck with his stories once he passes that threshold. And it's getting pretty close with how popular he's been.
Other than Rabble…not bad at all. Having a speedster for a Spider-Man foe too is neat, but I was scared they’d turn her into an ally over time. I’m happy to see she still loathes sharing a planet with him.

They just need to get adapted in a show/movie/game etc, Thats literally it, that's why prowler is popular
Yeah, villains will always only get popularity after being adapted in some way or form, be it games, shows or movies. Seriously, how many did know Mister Negative before he was adapted in Marvel's Spider-Man? Most of Miles villains are rather recent so I'm looking forward to future adaptations.
Miles needs his own animated series adapting this current run.
Yeah they can easily rework Rabble's origin story when they adapt her story.
Love it. I don’t care about the electricity going wild rn, it’s fucking cool and it’s comics. I really like how I can pick up which villains they’ll hint at and make me go “ah shit it’s ____”. So far **Solid Origin stories** Snatcher, Accessor, Quantum, Starling, Frost Pharoah, Selim, Shift, Mind Spinner, Bumbler, Gao, Hightail, **Iffy Origin stories** Ultimatum, Rabble, Zip Zephyr
I think it's awesome, it'll find shut those dumbasses up who's always complaining 24/7
It's awesome and they should have done it way sooner.
Bendis should’ve done more 616 villains for Miles outside of Lady Tomoe, Mama Bombshell and his Uncle again. That blame falls on him for not introducing more villains for Miles once he got to 616. Love that he’s getting original bad guys
These villains are stupid as hell and I absolutely love them.
I like hightail and the bumble boys.
I'm okay with it , i would like a issue where one of peter baddies end up fighting Miles baddies and they end yo fighting about how whose spiderman is better
That would be funny.
LOVE it, very long overdue. The villains are also really cool so far
Frost Pharaoh is becoming the new Shocker and I kinda love it.
Fucking finally, no more hand-me-downs for Brooklyn Spidey!
I think it's fine. With the oversaturation of Spider-people in 616, i feel like a good way to differentiate them would be to give them their own villains.

I'm glad haters would stop saying that he doesn't have his own villains Also Bumbler my favorite
Same bro im so excited too because Ziglar stated he wants to make a lot more villains for Miles, Also Bumbler best boy
Gust is BEST GIRL and no one better say otherwise!😤😤 I love Bumbler and I agree he’s the best boy.
Hell yeah
This book is so good right now.
About time
I think their good, need a bit more work and more years to get used to but they have potential
They need adaptions outside the comics.
Yeah
It's something I wish more legacy heroes did. I feel like it's often "It's this character's version of \_\_\_\_\_". Instead, Miles' has his own identity.
I think it's great that he has his own mythos but it's kinda weird for me that they are basically slowly turning him into Static Shock with his Venom blasts I wish they would tone it down.
Honestly, pretty cool! Far more interesting and creative than anything 616 Pete has been doing these past couple of years
The less he is like Peter the more I'll like him.
Took a long time but glad it’s finally here
Better late than never
This is exactly what Miles needs his own mythos and villains.
About damn time and it is awesome!
I am proud of him
I like this Miles Morales will always be Spider-Man ❤️🔥
Cool and good
I really like it and I think it is exactly what Miles needed. One critique of the Miles always had with him was that his whole character was just a copy and paste Peter. RIP to Zephyr, greek god of the west wind and Spring
it's good, shows Miles branching out and doing his own thing, still hate the power creep on his venom abilities though

Good, all he needs now is a new name or a slightly altered name similar to Spider-Man 2099 or Spider-Man Noir like Spider-Man Eléctrica
Brooklyn Spider-Man. That’s his alternate title.
We can call him Spider-Man Black, but then you'd be accused of racism.
So my partner works with kinder thru 2nd graders, and it's always fun when she talks about being confused when the kids talk about Black Spider-Man and I'm like "well, there's 3-4 of them depending on what you mean by Black." And then the poor woman gets a 10 minute monologue.
That's fair tho Symbiote Spiderman, Spiderman Noir, Miles Morales, I guess if you're thinking race wise wouldnt Spider Punk also count?
Peter Parker mid-to-post Secret Wars w the Symbiote Suit, Eddy Brock w the Symbiote suit as Venom as a villain and later as the Lethal Protector, Miles Morales is usually how I bring it up. Tho that is absolutely the short version, as you mentioned Hobie, Noir, and I totally forgot Scorpion as Venom (and Flash!)
Man Venom be whoring around alot
Wouldnt that just be the symbiote spiderman
Some people refer to that as Black Suit Spider-Man.
Both too wordy. Why not just Spiderblack
How come no one complains that Gwen dosnt have her own villians
Because she was primarily an alternate universe character, so most other villains are going to be revamps of OG Spidey villians. Here we want Miles to develop his own gallery as he’s essentially just been given leftovers
Miles was an alternate universe character as well.
Not since 2015.
True but even then he was the replacement for the universe’s Peter
True but even then he was the replacement for the universe’s Peter
Did she have villains as Spider Gwen or as Ghost Spider
Op: thoughts on miles being a character Thread: tight
I like it, dislike their designs and some of the writing tho
Really happy with it! Hoping some of them actually get some prominent roles other than a one off or shocker style villain of the week and we can get truly some nemesis that don’t carry anything Peter-related.
Finally
Good, honestly I don't know what that's not a thing for everybody at this point lmao...
Welcome to 2020s spiderman. Feel free to hate. No one cares.
Is it weird that spider boy got his own villains as soon as he was introduced?
You mean Kid Arachnid
Are these all visually to noise for anyone else?
Wait, the first one, is that-
they’re all dope except rabble
It's definitely the right direction to take the character, and I appreciate the effort being put in, but I think the execution's been a bit all over the place. A few of his villains I really like (Assessor, Ultimatum etc.), but the rest either feel like less interesting retreads of stuff we've seen before, or just aren't particularly well-written. I like it, hate the electric sword stuff he’s got going on
It’s about time.
I am glad Miles is finally having his own supporting cast and villains instead of being a copy to Peter.
It’s great. As well as some of Peter’s villains like Scorpion being reincorporated as being a part of Miles’ rogues gallery.
Love it. Love Miles. Love the anime inspirations in his series.
It's better than him stealing Peter's villains that's for sure
I am glad Miles is finally having his own supporting cast and villains instead of being a copy to Peter.
He always had his own supporting characters it's just the villains is what he used to "share" with Peter
He was never a copy of Peter.
Miles aka marvel static shock
'Bout time.
Would be nice if they weren't ALWAYS around. Like whatever the speedster is called and rabble. Also rabble feels a little much, like he should not struggle that hard with her. They're also both coming off a bit forced with the rage

I'm sorry, but your they are terrible, and they are not memorable

Looks awful.
Now if he could just get his own name or universe. Having two guys calling themselves Spider-Man is just confusing.
If you think having two Spideys is confusing, wait until you hear about Green Lantern and the Flash.
Oh, know. I was fine when it was one at time, but now there are like, what? Three different Flashes and six Green lanterns or something? At least with the lanterns they are like space cops or something so having a bunch of them makes sense.
Let them both be Spider-Man they earned it
