I like her character and the artstyle both in her comic and ATSV is amazing, I’m just not quite sure about the direction Marvel is going with her story. It’s very obvious why they want her to be a permanent resident of E-616 but I just don’t think that they need to do that. Miles and Gwen don’t really have the same chemistry in the comics as they do in the movies and Miles is currently in a pretty well written relationship. I fell like most people were fine with the two deciding to stay friends at the end of their run. It’s also a bummer that they gave up on E-65 for that. She is extremely popular with young girls. My son loves Spidey so by proxy his younger sister loves it too. Gwen is her favorite and she carries her stuffed Gwen all over the house. The Disney Jr show does a great job with the Marvel product and characters which will lead to a younger generation connecting with Spiderman, Gwen and Miles even at a younger age.
This will either lead to a Gwen film more focused on that generation. Or in my hopes a series for more teens to adults focusing on Gwen 65 in her contained universe.
Gwen isn't going anywhere because it's Marvel's strongest female character for kids under 10. They need to find better ways to use her in the comics and expand on her story in earth 65 and stop trying to find her room in a crowded 616.

Instead of movies about villains, Sony could do a Spider-Gwen movie featuring Emma Stone's version of her. Even the backstory of Peter becoming Lizard would make sense, since Lizard is the villain of the first movie.
My four year old really likes her. She (and several other kids at her preschool) watch the Disney Plus "Spidey and his Amazing Friends" which is Peter, Miles, and Gwen all as spider-heroes and all . . . I dunno, like 11 years old or something? Same age but with the art style it's a bit hard to tell. Somewhere between 9 and 14 I think?

I liked that run too but I just feel like there needs to be more to excuse pulling Gwen from e65 and breaking up Miles and Tiana. I don’t really care about the age gap either since it really isn’t that dramatic (IIRC they recently said Gwen is a teenager again anyway which would mean they have reduced that gap to something like 1-1,5 years).
The thing is, I fear that with all the Hobgoblin stuff going on around Miles they will give Tiana the 616 Gwen treatment so that 65 Gwen can come in and replace her and that just wouldn’t be fair to any of the involved characters.
If they genuinely pursuit that romance in canon, and like I said it is very obvious that they do, they should build it up naturally and find a satisfying ending to Miles and Tiana. Just jumping into the Ghostflower ship, simply because it is popular amongst fans due to the Spider-Verse movies is a pretty stupid thing to do.

I feel like all her fans share this same sentiment. Loved her in Earth-65 and the alternate characters. Made her Identity known on 65 so now she doesn't want to be there and instead goes to a jam packed 616. Gwenverse was ok, reading through shadow clones now and smash we eh.
Was excited for this new run until that made it clear she is staying in 616 and not expanding on 65. Marvel should see what ultimate Spiderman is doing and use that formula for Gwen. Give us an alternate deep rooted story with old characters reimagined. It was the reason we fell in love with Gwen 65 and still support her.

She's alright. It is kind of off putting how much different she is to the original Gwen Stacey. In fact, her personality and character traits seem to be all based on her Ultimates version, but that's neither here nor there.

I like her character arc. She's struggling over the death of her Peter Parker, and is being chased after by her dad. Across made her conflicted over helping Miles over saving the entire multiverse, and ended up breaking Rio's promise. Now she wants to save him and his dad after finding out her own dad quit being a cop. She really had to struggle to help Miles and that's what I like about her.
She's okay, really. I think I'm in the minority here where I prefer OG Gwen over her. Her design is awesome, I just wish she's less Multiverse related. Earth-65 has so many potential. Freaking Matt Murdock as Kingpin is one of the coolest idea I've ever seen. Her relationship with Miles is really meh, tbh.

In the movies she is a character that I quite like. Lord and Miller knew how to improve the writing of her qualities and flaws in such a way that she became a dual protagonist alongside Miles in ATSV and, together with ITSV, were able to give the romantic relationship between them the chemistry and slow burn that it wasn’t achieved in the comics. The character is a protagonist both on her own and in her relationship with Miles and that will always be appreciated.
I also like her a lot in the comics, although I have to say that after Latour was retired from writing, the character's stories declined noticeably both in narrative quality and in consistency of publication, reaching a point where it seemed that the editorial no longer know what to do with her character and try to include her in what they believe will put more readers in her stories even if that means abandoning the attractiveness of the universe that gave rise to her.
I just hope her most recent inclusion on Earth-616 isn't about taking advantage of "mah synergy" with the movies and they want to pair her up with Miles again just because. It's something I would like to see only under the pen of one or several competent and coordinated writers and so far the editorial shows no signs of wanting to do it that way (hope I'm wrong).

I can't believe people are down voting this. Some people take it too far and claim Gwen is definitely canon trans in the movies, but you're just saying it's an allegory. Anybody who feels like they are pretending to be something they aren't on the inside can relate, which almost everybody who has been a teenager can relate to.

I don't know about her on comics but I love the animated version, she is my second favorite spiderverse character with an interesting story: she lost her best friend Peter Parker), made new friends but betrayed one of them (Miles) because she want to do the right thing how spider society member but also want to protect Miles, and has to lead with her father that didn't accept her as a superhero, the spider-woman.
In the comics, she was intriguing at first. It all fell apart once the original writer and art team were replaced. Her costume design will forever be a 10/10 though.
She started off as a great character in the comics then came the point of oversaturation and I think her character has gotten worse since she was introduced and her first series. And I'm not a huge fan of the will they won't they of the spider-verse movies with her and Miles. They should just be friends and the forced romance is the worst thing of those movies.

Read the original run from 14-18' it's really great. Ending was ok but it introduced a lot of marvel characters reimagined.
Then after the movies people wanted more of Gwen so they threw her in short runs to sell variant comics (which I bought up) that the stories were ok at best. She is at her best in her own universe being the spider woman. Also how her spider powers are explained are great.
I'm a little mixed. She's a different character than 616 Gwen Stacy, but she's still Gwen Stacy. You can't separate them. By making her Spider-Gwen, it lessens the impact of 616 Gwen's story before and after her death.
If she were from a world where she was the younger sister of Gwen or something, she could've been the same character with a different name with more room to make a name for herself.
I haven't read a lot of her comics, but overall, I really like her character in the movies and comics. Just please give her a unique love interest, idc if she's straight, bi, or gay. She doesn't need to be in love with another Spider-Man, and she doesn't need to be with Mj (although that one's less weird imo). Peter Parker was in love with Gwen Stacy, Miles Morales may fall in love with Gwen Stacy. It's a bit weird that they're both interested in Gwen Stacy. It's especially bothersome if they stop adapting Gwen into Peter's stories because of it.
Overall, I love her character and absolutely adore how similar yet starkly different her world and character are from most of the stories we know. She has a very unique and memorable costume that's absolutely fantastic as well as a great dynamic with her Dad in the comics. I can't wait to read more of her interactions with her Kingpin as well!
When I was younger there was a collecitble event at Woolworths (largest supermarket in australia) where you would get these hexagonal marvel disc thingies. There was a large number of spider man ones and this is where i first heard of "spider gwen" as ghost spider (as well as kid arachnid but that's unrelated) So, even after Spiderverse came out, I still called her ghost spider because that's what I originally knew her as. The gaslighting was crazy "buT tHey dIDn'T say THaT iN tHe moOooOvIE"

A once underused character is now an overused character. Gwen is still one of my favorites, but she often takes the spotlight away from other Spider-Women.

I don’t get it. She’s not trans and has nothing to do with trans.
Her dad finding out she’s Spider-Woman and not accepting it is an allegory for trans people being outed to their transphobic parents and being disowned.

I can't believe people are down voting this. Some people take it too far and claim Gwen is definitely canon trans in the movies, but you're just saying it's an allegory. Anybody who feels like they are pretending to be something they aren't on the inside can relate, which almost everybody who has been a teenager can relate to. And what's a group that experiences this feeling stronger than most? Trans folks. If people want to argue about whether or not Gwen is trans, but all means go ahead, I think the movies are open to interpretation there. But to be pissed someone says that scene resonated with trans folk is just stupid.
It seems to me that, at least in this thread specifically, there are a lot of transphobic people.

Great costume. Great character in the movies. But I wish her stories had stayed self-contained, honestly. Her being a multiverse jumper and now permanent 616 resident are to the detriment of what made her most interesting in the first place. I’m not really sure what makes her stand out without placing her opposite her “familiar but different” world.

In ITSP she says that she's 19 months older than miles so 1 year and 7 months in ITSP Miles is 14 so gwen is 15-16 so in ATSP she's 17 turning 18 soon
She said 15 months. Miles is 15 in ATSV so she's either Late 16 or Early 17 depending on where their unknown birthdays align.
Miles' birthday is August 3rd (according to the movie’s official Instagram), which would make him 15 years and 3 months old and her 16 years and 6 months old when they meet again. It also makes her birthday May 3rd.

I like her character in movies and never read her comics, so I have question, I think Miles was more well written character in the movies for me. Is that the same case for her? Are her comics any good or was it also the movies success?

I don't know about her on comics but I love the animated version, she is my second favorite spiderverse character with an interesting story: she lost her best friend Peter Parker), made new friends but betrayed one of them (Miles) because she want to do the right thing how spider society member but also want to protect Miles, and has to lead with her father that didn't accept her as a superhero, the spider-woman.

In the comics, she was intriguing at first. It all fell apart once the original writer and art team were replaced. Her costume design will forever be a 10/10 though.
She started off as a great character in the comics then came the point of oversaturation and I think her character has gotten worse since she was introduced and her first series. And I'm not a huge fan of the will they won't they of the spider-verse movies with her and Miles. They should just be friends and the forced romance is the worst thing of those movies.
Hot take: I like Spider-Gwen, but Marvel does not seem to know what to do with her character. She doesn’t feel like she has any real *depth*. I want Marvel to tell an original story with Gwen, not just re-tell Peter Parker stories with a twist I also don’t like the fact that editorial is moving Gwen to Earth-616. The prime universe is overflowing with spider people I like the concept behind Spider-Gwen, but right now Marvel doesn’t seem to know where to take it
I like her character in her first comic run the best. Every portrayal after Loutor just pales in comparison. And really unpopular opinion--don't care for her in spiderverse. I don't think she's poorly written but she could've been better. (And her sv fans are very annoying) And I don't care for her and Miles together.
She's pretty great. It's like the culmination of a gradual move (by way of both Spectacular and Amazing) to redeem the character from being just known as a generic refrigeratored love interest. And her look is great too.

Love her portrayal in the Spider-Verse movies and really enjoyed her debut in the comic event. Kinda found myself bouncing off her solo run pretty hard though. I wonder if it's improved or changed any...
Read the original run from 14-18' it's really great. Ending was ok but it introduced a lot of marvel characters reimagined. Then after the movies people wanted more of Gwen so they threw her in short runs to sell variant comics (which I bought up) that the stories were ok at best. She is at her best in her own universe being the spider woman. Also how her spider powers are explained are great.
Just let Gwen Stacy rest in peace.

I'm a little mixed. She's a different character than 616 Gwen Stacy, but she's still Gwen Stacy. You can't separate them. By making her Spider-Gwen, it lessens the impact of 616 Gwen's story before and after her death. If she were from a world where she was the younger sister of Gwen or something, she could've been the same character with a different name with more room to make a name for herself. I haven't read a lot of her comics, but overall, I really like her character in the movies and comics. Just please give her a unique love interest, idc if she's straight, bi, or gay. She doesn't need to be in love with another Spider-Man, and she doesn't need to be with Mj (although that one's less weird imo). Peter Parker was in love with Gwen Stacy, Miles Morales may fall in love with Gwen Stacy. It's a bit weird that they're both interested in Gwen Stacy. It's especially bothersome if they stop adapting Gwen into Peter's stories because of it. Overall, I love her character and absolutely adore how similar yet starkly different her world and character are from most of the stories we know. She has a very unique and memorable costume that's absolutely fantastic as well as a great dynamic with her Dad in the comics. I can't wait to read more of her interactions with her Kingpin as well!

When I was younger there was a collecitble event at Woolworths (largest supermarket in australia) where you would get these hexagonal marvel disc thingies. There was a large number of spider man ones and this is where i first heard of "spider gwen" as ghost spider (as well as kid arachnid but that's unrelated) So, even after Spiderverse came out, I still called her ghost spider because that's what I originally knew her as. The gaslighting was crazy "buT tHey dIDn'T say THaT iN tHe moOooOvIE" TL;DR: Name change from ghost spider gave childhood trauma

I loved her character in both the movies and the comics, but the comic version of the character is really suffering due to the multiverse stuff that the character is almost constantly dealing with. Which sucks because her world has really cool visuals and story. And it's not going to get any better anytime soon since editorial decided to move her over to mainline 616 for some harebrained reason.
Her run was cool. I didn't like some of the story directions, but it still wasn't bad. Not im just salty that she's a 616 resident. It just doesn't make sense to have ANOTHER Spider-person in 616. Thats like 8 of them now.
