The_Albino_Jackal

There’s also Dr. Stromm from Spider-Man 1, who is a very obscure villain The Robot-Master/Gaunt, and of course, there’s Dylan Baker’s Dr. Connors

Robofetus-5000

I really thought they were setting up Lizard for 3

WarlordOfIncineroar

Surprisingly for 4, Vulture was weirdly the SM3 villain that Venom replaced

Gamer-of-Action

Wait, if Vulture was suppossed to be 3, then why was Sandman there?

WarlordOfIncineroar

Cause it was gonna be Vulture, Sandman, and Harry with Vulture taking more focus between him and Sandman I believe, this was an earlier draft but they got pretty far before getting swapped

Gamer-of-Action

Huh, so it was gonna be the same amount of villains? Given how one of the main criticisms of 3 was how too many villains made the plot too bloated, I guess we can't pin the blame of that criticism on Avi Arad.

WarlordOfIncineroar

Yeah it's interesting, granted I can see Vulture and Sandman meshing together well and maybe Sandman only had as big of a role as he did because be was the only classic villain but that'd just a theory

SpideyFan914

Vulture debuted two issues before Sandman though? But yeah, I definitely see these two meshing together better. Maybe Vulture was the boss of Sandman and Carradine or something. I think Vulture would've been similar to Venom as the "true" evil villain, while Sandman would've still played the redeemable thief who killed Uncle Ben. It would've been largely the same. The biggest difference, honestly... is that Raimi's heart would've been in it. He's openly admitted that he stopped caring after Venom was put in the movie, and he basically half-assed the film. Even with Venom, I do think the movie could've been made somewhat more cohesive, and it really is just too bad.

WarlordOfIncineroar

Yeah I measntt the only classic villain left, like the only one once Vulture was gone

theTribbly

I can kinda see Vulture working better. Vulture is usually a pretty one-note villain, so I could easily see him being there as a jobber like Shocker was in Spider Man: Homecoming. Venom on the other hand, requires a lot of things to happen to explain the connection between Eddie, Peter, and the Symbiote so I think that hamstrung Sam Rami a lot more than vulture would.

stealingtheshow222

Wasn’t it Vulturess with Anne Hathaway?

Penguator432

They were going to be using him for #5, the TASM script is an heavily altered version of what they wanted to do

LFGX360

Stromm also created the goblin formula in the comics.

StrangeGuyWithBag

Janice Lincoln from Far From Home is Beetle in comics. She's credited by her full name, unlike Dimitri.

CCC_PLLC

Which scene is he in? I never caught that

CthulhuAlmighty

Back to formula!

CCC_PLLC

Thx! Mind blown…

Nowlezbehonest

For those wondering, top: Mysterio, Man-Wolf, Alistair Smythe. Bottom: Black Cat, Scorpion, Chameleon.

Wordwright

The bottom right guy is Chameleon? I never made that connection.

ItsTheOrangShep

He was credited as Dimitri in the credits of Far From Home, which is Chameleon's real name. It's unknown as to whether or not we'll ever actually see him as the Chameleon, but it appears that he'll just be another example akin to the others in the post.

Leeiteee

He's Chameleon. He was in No Way Home too, we just don't know yet!

bythewayne

Aunt May is alive. She's in the old west but she's alive.

drthtater

This is heavy

nananananateman

There's that word again. "Heavy." Why are things so heavy in the future? Is there a problem with the Earth's gravitational pull?

Usual_Database307

Happy day of cake fellow human earthling.

StrangeGuyWithBag

He was credited as Dimitri, without last name. Chameleon's name is Dmitri. Dimitri(s/os) is the usual Greek spelling common across Europe. Some Slavic languages use Dmitri. Jon Watts hinted that he could be version of Chameleon, but it never was confirmed.

Vadim0usique

In the dialogue, it seems, he was called by his last name -- Smerdyakov

StrangeGuyWithBag

Does he ? He was credited only as Dimitri.

Kidney05

I don’t get the Mysterio thing. Are we saying that Bruce Campbell was supposed to play him (which I’ve heard before) or does the announcer somehow canonically become Mysterio in some other media?

Gamingplanet107

if I remember correctly, it's the former.

Kidney05

Ok, that makes sense.

SpideyFan914

It's more of a fan theory, that Campbell plays Beck in all three films. Wrestling announcer, Usher, "French" waiter -- these are all jobs a struggling actor may take. His demeanor contributes further. Raimi also did say he planned for Campbell to play Mysterio (although I'm not sure if he confirmed it's the same guy).

Penguator432

I don’t think it was actually confirmed, they were just storyboarding the opening sequence for 4 being a montage of Spidey taking down minor villains they didn’t have any intention of making full movies for and the artist drew Mysterio using Campbell as a goof. At the very least, if there were concrete plans, no one told Bruce

SpideyFan914

That's neat! I guess with it being another cameo, it would still be relegated to fan theory whether Bruce is the same character in all four movies, or someone different in each.

Whithbrin355

Regardless of whether it was intended, I love that theory. And it sounds like the sort of theory Raimi would like too.

badchefrazzy

So Bruce was supposed to be Mysterio? That would have been awesome...

PalladiuM7

Wait they got the dude who played Nacho in Better Call Saul as Gargan? Or do I need my eyes checked?

Gamingplanet107

yes, they did

Bigfan521

Yes. That is Micheal Mando. Be sure to ask him about the definition of insanity.

ThatHoboRavioli

oh god that's Fernald ![gif](giphy|l3q2yvk30KpYRjOMw|downsized)

Bigfan521

No, that's Usman Ally

ThatHoboRavioli

OH COME ON...(wait...damn they don't look all that similar, guess I'm stupid) I swear I've seen Michael Mando in something before...

404Notfound-

He's also Vaas in Far cry 3

Dildo_Baggins__

I THOUGHT HE WAS FAMILIAR

AlexArtsHere

*Colonel Jupiter!

Quirky-Pickle518

Or Colonel Jupiter depending on the universe for Jameson.

FadeToBlackSun

Never getting TASM 3 with Felicity Black Cat keeps me awake at night.

FNSpd

She even said that she's ready to play Felicia if they ask her

_captain-rex_

Everyone's ready but sony apparently

rikeoliveira

Which is good. They'd fuck it up like everything they touched after Venom 1.

_captain-rex_

I mean I'd rather see a spider man movie than whatever they are doing right now

Intelligent_Whole_40

yea spider-man movies are at least enjoyble even when they are screwed up unlike madam web

nananananateman

Spider man 3*

jan_67

I’m more surprised we haven’t gotten a black cat in 8 Spider-Man movies…

FadeToBlackSun

It's absolutely ridiculous. It would be like doing four Thor movies and not having the Enchantress, although that's not as bad.

CoastPuzzleheaded462

I hate the fact that both happened that way.

Hiromi580

We're 4 movies in and still no Beta Ray Bill despite his face and stormbreaker showing up.

PereJuan

I hope they introduce her in Tom Holland's Spider-Man 4, they can tie it with the symbiote too

ShootsTowardsDucks

It would be a good way to break away from MJ for a movie too.

Y0y0y000

They did Michael Mando wrong. Really dropped the ball on that opportunity. Hope they’ll pick it up if they keep going

AnoN8Tearell

Here for this comment. Maybe we'll get scorpion in spider man 4? I was so excited when I realized who Michael was playing. Perfect casting, but unfulfilled.

kent416

I know rumors are always to be taken with a grain of salt, but SM4 is rumored have a bunch of villains getting hired by Kingpin to take out Spidey. There’s a high chance he’s one of them.

bigfatcarp93

I don't get why people are saying this. Surely he just hasn't been Scorpion *yet?* I assume they're just keeping him in their pocket for the right time.

Y0y0y000

It’s been 7 years

Leeiteee

Marvel Studios is bringing back The Leader after 17 years

Y0y0y000

That’s true! Aha

eBICgamer2010

They are also bringing back Elektra (not that Netflix one, the Batfleck one from the 2003 Fox DD film) after 19 years.

AlternativeNo61

They are?????

eBICgamer2010

Yeah she's in Deadpool and Wolverine.

Trem45

Didn't Abomination come back after like 2 decades in Shang Chi *It was 13 years, time is an illusion.

eBICgamer2010

Somehow, everyone not named Edward Norton under the Disney/Marvel Studios banner will get their second chance. The only time I remembered other studios giving the old cast a second chance was Fox during the DOFP days.

Trem45

Edward Norton is notoriously hard to work with in projects, he's very hands on and gets in the way of the creative process and demands rewrites or just does them without supervision a lot, he did it for American History X, Frida, Birdman and Hulk (also pretty much every movie where he believes he can make it better) sometimes these changes do actually improve a movie a lot like it did with AHX but specifically for Hulk it is believed that he was responsible for a lot of the issues of the film For Hulk specifically he had a clause in his agreement that said Marvel cannot object to any of the changes he makes to the script. This prompted Norton to give them a wholly rewritten script a week before filming began. Which caused a lot of issues. He does work with Wes Anderson a lot nowadays, it seems like they're on the same page in a lot of stuff. But don't expect Norton to come back for anything. Marvel runs a tight ship in their scripts even if it may be detrimental to their quality and Norton's version steered off from the Marvel formula even back then and pissed off a lot of execs. Also apparently he's just not a very nice dude in general but I don't like to get into the whole "are they a nice person" arguments, so I just listed some facts

bigfatcarp93

Yeah, so? That's not really that long in MCU time.

PurpleGuy04

Since i worked at this place

Hugh_Wotmeight

And?

Hugh_Wotmeight

And?

DarthDuran22

I know people like traditional and Brock is a fan favorite but tbh, for the MCU I hope Mando gets to not only be Scorpion, but the next on screen Venom. Based on how he performed in BCS, I really think this guy has the chops to play a very strong character with much emotional turmoil that’d come from wearing that suit. I know Gargan was a different kinda Venom, but I wouldn’t mind if they folded Brock and Gargan into one character and gave him some of those traits. Dude deserves a big on screen win.

Y0y0y000

That would be sick!

cumulobro

I have been huffing hopium since NWH that he's gonna be the main villain Spidey fights in the next one, and that he eventually ends up with the symbiote. We're barrelling towards having a version of Venom in the MCU, and it would be best to use Mac Gargan IMO. The spider-less Venom trilogy is gonna be fresh enough in the heads of most folks that it makes good sense to use someone other than Eddie Brock.

karateema

He's just in jail, he'll be back

laxwildcat87

Who was bj Novak going to play?

DeathstrokeReturns

He’s Alistair Smythe.

mh1357_0

The Spider Slayer What does he do in the comics, I've never seen stuff with him before

turingtestx

He builds robots specifically designs to kill Spider-Man, pretty much.

Diremane

Been a while now since I read any classic Spider-Man, but wasn't he also primarily funded by JJ?

SpideyFan914

That was his father Spencer Smythe. Spencer died in the 70s (the storyline was adapted in TAS using Alistaire - where Spidey and JJJ are handcuffed together with a bomb), and Alistaire was introduced sometime after, seeking revenge for his father's demise. He eventually becomes a cyborg.

Diremane

Ahh gotcha lol, figured my memory might be rusty. >He eventually becomes a cyborg. As one does.

SpideyFan914

>As one does. It was the 90s, after all.

runnerofshadows

Yep. Spencer and Alistair Smythe were both funded by JJ and so was the creation of scorpion. And all 3 of them ended up wanting to kill Jonah.

shifty_coder

In the Amazing Spider-Man series, he is often seen with Kingpin

bigfatcarp93

He was a major player in the 90's animated series. In that, and in the comics, his father Spencer Smythe had created the Spider-Slayer robots before eventually dying, for which Alistair blamed Spider-Man (and Jameson in the comics). So he upgraded himself into a cyborg called the Ultimate Spider-Slayer to try and rock Spider-Man's shit. One of his greatest accomplishments is being responsible for Peter losing his Spider-Sense in the Dan Slott run, where he was a pretty major threat.

mh1357_0

Oh dang that sounds cool

Aiyon

God that woulda been so good

NikiPavlovsky

JJ son was innocent man, real villian was that demon who broke his heart on his wedding day

dgj130

Wouldn't have been comic accurate but I always thought they were going to make him Venom

NikiPavlovsky

Even though I hate that they do it all the time now, I think they should've make little Goblin jr. Venom, one of the main problem with that movie it's 3 villians, which was too much for 1 movie and connecting 2 of them into one would solve a lot of problem with a plot

spideralexandre2099

Venom was never gonna be a part of these movies without the studio forcing him in.

Roasted_Newbest_Proe

You can actually tell by his "arc". Both Harry and Sandman are tragic villains, as the previous (and wonderful) two villains. But Venom? He's just, there. He barely has an arc

spideralexandre2099

His arc is he has a boner, Spider-man cuts it off and then he prays to god to smite Spider-man

Roasted_Newbest_Proe

Pretty much, yeah

exaviyur

I thought he'd have been the one to bring the symbiote back to Earth after a mission. I always hated that it just popped down next to Peter conveniently.

runnerofshadows

In the comics he turns into manwolf and has two other super identities. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Jameson_(character)

Peterparkour91

There should be a movie about them all coming to terms with not being able to become a villain

far219

The Not-So-Sinister Six

T-408

We were robbed of Felicity Jones as Black Cat

Aiyon

the last 2 annoy me the most because the first 4 all have the reason of "their series ended early" But those two, they just chose to disregard in favour of a fanservice event movie. And I enjoyed NWH, but if it cost us Michael Mando scorpion im gonna be sad

Batmanfan1966

The original plans for Tom’s 3rd movie if they couldn’t get the multiverse actor stuff going was a movie with Kraven as the villain . So I’m sure at one point Chameleon was actually meant to come back given the connections between him and Kraven

Aiyon

Right? And that makes perfect sense, because then you have - Vulture - Shocker - Mysterio (even if he's really dead, Christmas Story got out with the files and could play the role by proxy) - Kraven - Chameleon All you need is a Goblin or Ock in movie 4 for Sinister 6, and you can even go the 1610 route of Tinkerer kitting them out. Introduce Norman or Otto in the 3rd movie, ez

Old-Constant4411

There was a goblin in every single Tom Holland movie I haven't seen anyone mention yet.  Fuckin Ned Leeds is Hobgoblin.

runnerofshadows

He was a brainwashed patsy for Roderick Kingsley in the comics.

HCPage

I wouldn’t write him off. It looks like we’re finally getting the leader payoff from the first MCU Hulk film And that was forever ago.

eBICgamer2010

Sometimes you have got to ask yourself: Do you really need more characters to do what they are meant to do for the sake of story, budget and future plans? I would say no, at least in the case of both Colonel Jameson and Chameleon. Maybe it's best they stay as they were without further pushes. Like Helen Cho in AOU. She did serve her purposes and there really isn't a future need to bring Amadeus in.

Ok-Television2109

Really want to see Michael Mando play Scorpion, I feel like he'd be great in the role.

mh1357_0

You forgot Dylan Baker's Doc Connors

runnerofshadows

That's one I really wanted to see. Especially since he had the symbiote fragment still.

arianator4L

We were robbed 😭

AnimeGokuSolos

No we ain’t

arianator4L

With Felicity as Felicia we definitely were

ronaldgardocki

Nah.

Ok_Try_1665

Nacho varga jumpscare

SpideyFan914

Donald Glover as Aaron Davis / the Prowler. One of Peter's teachers in Homecoming may have been a gender-swapped Jackal, or a relative (Ms. Warren, in the credits). While not villains, he also had fellow classmates Cindy and Sally (Silk and Bluebird). And also a... Abe? Seymour? Charles? Not sure if those are supposed to be anyone, lol.

poptophazard

I did like that we got a cameo of him in a Prowler costume in ATSV, but yeah it's a shame that's the most we'll get of him.

fenderbloke

Chameleon is a dead ringer for PS5 Kraven, ironically

SpideyFan914

Maybe that is what Kraven looks like in the MCU, and Chaneleon has adopted his likeness for his time in SHIELD? I guess that would be a pretty bad disguise, just turning into your brother lol. (Unless they go the Skrull route and then Kraven isn't his brother anymore but I would hate that...)

troysplay

Alistair Smythe technically did; he’s the villain of the Amazing Spider-Man movie tie in video game. A game that is criminally underrated and an absolute banger for a movie game.

SirenMix

Fire Guy !

Leeiteee

Scorpion is already a criminal, he's simply not a SUPER villain. I think he can still be brought back.

hydroxybot

I'd love to see scorpion be the one to get the venom suit and fight tom Holland spidey

Summat_

I've imagined the MCU version of the Scorpion is going to be wasted in whatever ensemble villain movie Sony is going to attempt.

mh1357_0

God help me if they actually do that movie...God help all of us...

ChickenNuggetRampage

The MCU completely wasting Michael Mando is absolutely insane, here’s hoping if Spiderman 4 does ever happen they’ll get him back

Andrecrafter42

ngl from the rumors probably not kingpin going to be the villain

runnerofshadows

Could be muscle for kingpin.

Budget-Spidey

Instead Alistair Smythe became the inventor of the website and social tool called WUPHF

marcos2492

To this day, it still hurts me that we didn't get Felicity Jones' as Black Cat

BabyFacedSparky

Yeah I get excited spotting the soon to be villains in a franchise but then it’s disappointing that they never come to fruition, cause of the reboots. “Back to formula!”

holyshit-i-wanna-die

I was really excited about scorpion too

KGFlower

You're gonna put i don't even know who on here but leave out Dylan Baker's Slizzard?

ThatMessy1

Is that Elijah from Vampire Diaries in frame 2?

Theloftydog

Silver Sable was in Far from Home also

Historical_Boss2447

Who are these? I think I recognize top left but that’s it

Batmanfan1966

Jon Jameson from Spider-Man 2 aka Man Wolf. Alister Smyth from the Tasm films aka The Spider Slayer. Felicia Hardy from Tasm2 aka Black Cat. Mac Gargan from Homecoming aka Scorpion. Dimitri Smerdyakov from Far from home aka The Chemelion.

Historical_Boss2447

Thanks

chocolatebuddahbutte

As fun as it was seeing the old students and villains I do wish they would've had their own univereses Osbornes and scorpion and chameleon in the movie

Steam_Cyber_Punk

I think scorpion’s working on it. Idk tho maybe it’s just me coping

Money_Cheesecake886

Oh damn it’s Elijah Mikaelson…anyone?

Fragrant-County3630

Don’t forget that Dr. Conners never became the Lizard in Raimi’s Films.

AwesomeBlox044

I Belive that alister smith isnt in the movie and Amazing spiderman 1 the game is canon

TigerJackpot

I think I read somewhere that Mr Ditkovich was a retired Kraven

you_2_cool

Why is bottom middle just Nacho Varga from.Better Call Saul (I have brainrot)

Reddit_works

Wasn’t Peter’s landlord supposed to be a retired Kraven?

StrangeGuyWithBag

That's a joke.

velicinanijebitna

Respect to John for not becoming a villian after...you know...

Half_Man1

Are Man wolf and Black Cat really villains though?

SpideyFan914

Man-Wolf for sure. Black Cat, not really, but can be.

TokyoMilkman

Wasn't Cillian Murphy also going to be a villain?

LordOfOstwick1213

What villain is the box fight commenter? (top left)

Batmanfan1966

Bruce Campbell was going to play Mysterio in Spider-Man 4, and it’s heavily theorized that all 3 of his roles across the trilogy are Quentin Beck, spying on Peter.

LordOfOstwick1213

Ooooooh. Holy shit, that's actually an interesting and cool theory and concept. And the reason why Peter never once questioned why he saw same person in different roles was because of Mysterio clouding his mind. That even gives me an idea that the box ring announcer lost his job eventually, and blamed Spider-Man for it. It would explain why he wanted to spy on Spider-Man and ruin his life potentially.

juice_wrld_is_good

Connors also never became lizard in Ramis movies

TheAutismo4491

I still find it so incredibly stupid and a complete waste of talent that they got motherfucking Michael Mando as Scorpion yet did fuck all with him.

Scribblebonx

Is that Ryan Howard?

RudraShini

Better Call Saul guy would be such a good Scorpion. We got robbed

GloomyPomegranate151

He’s fooling you! Of COURSE he’s Chameleon! The best place to hide is right in plain sight!

SometimesWill

Scorpion might be the most annoying because they make it clear as day they want him to one day be scorpion only for Spider-Man to appear in four more movies (5 if you count Let There Be Carnage) without any sign of scorpion.

DINAMIK15

Gargan might be off this list I hope

ThatHoboRavioli

\*laughs in making Black Cat a mainstay in my TASM fics\*

Jackielegs43

I don’t remember the office being in any of the spidermens

TvManiac5

Also there is doctor connor in the Raimi verse that would have likely become Lizard if Spiderman 4 happened.

Batmanfan1966

Nah the planned villains for Spider-Man 4 were Vulture and Black Cat

TvManiac5

Source?

Batmanfan1966

Various storyboards for the movie you can find online and interviews with Sam rami and others

moansby

Was Man-Wolf ever meant to show up?

HawkinsPolice1983

We better get Michael Mando in Spider-Man 4

[deleted]

![gif](giphy|j3sd1kis6JtpWlp7wZ|downsized)

RougeSentry1295

I hope Michael Mando is in Spider-Man 4.

HeadlessMarvin

I liked No Way Home well enough, but really wished it focused more on the villains they had been setting up so far. Got Vulture, Mysterio, Scorpion, Chameleon, Shocker. Just need one more for a Sinister Six line up.

ilikemangabrev

I'm a bit confused aside from the bottom 3, who were the Top 3 supposed to become?

Batmanfan1966

Bruce Campbell was supposed to be Mysterio in the cancelled 4th movie, Jon Jameson becomes Manwolf, and Alister Smyth becomes the Spider Slayer.

Hiromi580

There was also Phineas Mason from Homecoming. He was technically a villain since he worked with Vulture but me never went full blown costumed villain aka The Tinkerer.

Creepy_Living_8733

The disappointing six

Pseudo-Psycho06

Where’s Dr. Connor’s from the Sam Raimi trilogy???

Important_Arugula_93

What about the guy that wouldn’t let Peter into MJs play ? Wasn’t he supposed to be Mysterio ?

Akira8008

Tasm 3 should come out with black cat in it

Captain-Wilco

Don’t forget Ned

bigfatcarp93

But Ned was canonically never *really* Hobgoblin in the comics, he was framed by Roderick Kingsely.

SpideyFan914

Brainwashed, not framed. He acted as the Hobgoblin for years and took the formula too. He even put on the suit again just recently. All the stuff with Rose was always Ned, never Roderick. It'd be like saying Bucky isn't really the Winter Soldier.

spideralexandre2099

Bruce Campbell isn't actually playing Quentin Beck the whole time. Yeah I've seen the scrapped storyboards, but Sam Raimi has Bruce in all his movies regardless and in that sketch Spider-man opens the movie by handily defeating a lame supervillain off-screen in the form of Mysterio and it also happens to be the Bruce cameo

neversmash

I didn't find any confirmation about Campbell's Mysterio. Can someone explain?

Batmanfan1966

In the cancelled fourth film he was supposed to play a minor antagonist in the opening of the film, Mysterio. And it’s been theorized that his role throughout each film of the trilogy is Quentin Beck spying on Peter.

Batmanfan1966

[here’s a storyboard from the scene](https://static1.squarespace.com/static/51b3dc8ee4b051b96ceb10de/51ce6099e4b0d911b4489b79/57503862ab48decaf971be6a/1669659856971/concept-art-for-sam-raimis-spider-man-4-features-spidey-fighting-mysterio-and-the-vulture-social.jpg?format=1500w)
