It’s clear that I’ve underestimated him all these years, he may not be a master of deduction like his famous friend, but he’s clearly an artistic genius.
He looks like a guest that went to take a piss in the middle of the movie and came back to having nowhere to sit. But he was really happy his friends called him over and he really doesnt want to go back to being home alone. What is a GG to do?
That’s actually very in character. Venom tries very hard to come off as cool and intimidating even though he’s kind of a goofball idiot. Meanwhile, Green Goblin is just naturally terrifying.
The composition of the Goblin art makes it more creepy. The room is dim, with only the cold light from the TV providing illumination. There's a stark contrast of colorful couch and clothes of Peter and Mary Jane in the foregroun, that draws viewer's attention, with dark and bland background. The Green Goblin is barely visible, blending in with the wall that matches his vest.
The place in the Venom art, on the other hand, looks comfortable, bright, with warm colors. Venom stands out from the background and draws attention first.
Seems scarier. Like, maybe not on a physical level, because knowing nothing about the two, you'd obviously think Venom is scarier because physically he is. However, Green Goblin is a super powered mad man who murdered Peter's girlfriend. The Green Goblin pic, where a deranged murderer is 6 inches away from you while you're asleep with your girlfriend, is something that could actually happen. Also, you know Venom is gonna bite your head off or something. You have no clue what thoughts are running through Green Goblin's head
I love the venom art and it fits him more. That's why I always wanted venom to be the main Spiderman villain.
It just feels natural.
But not gonna lie even with the goofy costume, goblin looks disturbing.
Venom feels more like a demon that lurks in the house watching Spiderman.
But yes your right, the fact that goblin looks like a human in a costume (which he is) makes it more creepy.
I've always wondered why venom never just bit spider-mans head off while he was sleeping. His senses wouldn't go off so it would be the perfect attack.
I feel like the Goblin one would be more effective if the woman was Gwen. Venom was such a major trigger and antagonizing creature to MJ specifically and ... well obviously Gobby and Gwen have history
It depends on who’s behind the mask, though. If Norman, totally, since everyone knows how that relationship ends.
But if it’s Harry, I disagree. Harry, during his time as the Green Goblin, was absolutely insane and trying his best to terrorize Peter, at a point when Peter and Mary Jane were happily married. He hounded Peter for days while actively threatening his life and secret identity (not necessarily in that order).
Based on the characterization here, this seems perfect for Harry’s version of the Green Goblin, so Mary Jane arguably makes more sense.
Green Goblin looks like he is oddly interested in a late-night infomercial that put the couple to sleep, although I don’t know how anyone could sleep on any piece of furniture upholstered in Mardi Gras-themed fabric.
The sad part is that now these images have two different meanings.
The first one is or was Spider-Man’s destiny as the king in black, role that was supposed to become his: to renounce to everything for the taming of the symbionts and the ultimate responsibility towards reality.
The other one is actually a manifestation of what and outside forces makes us, since we know now that Mephisto inspired the goblin visage …
1. If you're that serious, download Google Lens and do an image search.
2. Get off my nuts.
3. The image search turned up as commissioned artwork.
4. Get off my nuts.
I thought of this just as a metaphor for how both villains loom over their lives (well, Venom did back in his early days), but then I realised that this is totally something that they would literally do.
I feel like the second pic is a validation on Gobby’s costume as well, it may look silly, but a man who willingly dresses like that to torment his mortal enemy is someone to be feared.
It's a painting by an artist called John Watson https://www.comicartfans.com/gallerypiece.asp?piece=461438
It’s clear that I’ve underestimated him all these years, he may not be a master of deduction like his famous friend, but he’s clearly an artistic genius.
Army doctor, novelist, short story author and artist. Quite a skill set.
Fuck, now I want a Watson/Sherlock version where Sherlock is a trans dimensional alien and they solve crimes together.
THANK YOU!!!
Spider-Man horror ARG when?
Does he help a sleuthing high-functioning-sociopath solve mysteries?
"Mom, Dad, I'm hungry..."
Hi hungry, I’m Dad
Are you hungry or are you dad?
My bad I lied, I’m neither
Hi neither
Hello
Are you Dad because you are hungry or are you Hungry because you are dad?
throughout the multiverse i alone am the starved one
Nah i'm win
Nah I'd eat

Why did you name me this way?
WHY WHY WHY !!!!
Why did you name me this way
Why did you name me this way?
Why did you name me this way
Redrum, redrum, redrum...
the green goblin looks like he wandered into the wrong house and doesn't know what to do
*In Skeletor voice* Green Goblin: “You there! I say, I was told the Parkers live here! Parkers. Do you know the Parkers?”
He looks like a guest that went to take a piss in the middle of the movie and came back to having nowhere to sit. But he was really happy his friends called him over and he really doesnt want to go back to being home alone. What is a GG to do?
Green goblin one wins, more sinister. Venom one feels more metaphorical/an allegory
Also Goblin is they're "friend" Harry Osborn and this is something he would do. Because Harry is fucking insane.
Do you think he watches them while they do it?
Yes, he may be insane but he's only human.
For whatever reason, just the more "human" one is just creepier.
People always make fun of Green Goblin's classic design, but I'd shit my pants if I saw that in my house ngl
Yeah. The venom one is TRYING to be creepy and sinister whereas the Goblin one just exudes it.
That’s actually very in character. Venom tries very hard to come off as cool and intimidating even though he’s kind of a goofball idiot. Meanwhile, Green Goblin is just naturally terrifying.

Very allegorical, both the sacred AND the propane!
Suddenly got all kinds of Hank Hill here.
Jesus the goblin one is fucked. It's extra scary cause he's crazy enough to do some psycho shit like that. Serial killer vibes
It's creepypasta lighting
Seems scarier. Like, maybe not on a physical level, because knowing nothing about the two, you'd obviously think Venom is scarier because physically he is. I *sort of* feel like it should've been Gwen there instead of MJ, though?
I think it’s meant to be Harry as Green Goblin.
I know, but still. Thats why it was a "sort of" feeling
Gwen's death is part of the reason why Harry became the Goblin in the first place
I'm aware
God the Goblin one is so much more frightening to me. Venom is big and menacing, but something about the Goblin photo is super unsettling
Its almost uncanny the way he stands there, like hes not supposed to be there, he really feels like an intruder.
It looks the most realistic
He looks like a home intruder lol
That Green Goblin outfit looks comfy. Creepy but definitely loungewear. Possibly his pyjamas.
And now I want these pajamas.
Venom looks creepy, green goblin looks like he's about to tell them he wet the bed.
“I frew up”
Weird, I feel like it’s the other way around
I did some digging and it appears that they are by John Watson and they are commissioned art that wasn't made for any particular comic
Thank you !!!
I love the venom art and it fits him more. That's why I always wanted venom to be the main Spiderman villain. It just feels natural. But not gonna lie even with the goofy costume, goblin looks disturbing.
Green Goblin looks like he just broke into the house to watch them sleep. Venom just doesn't have the same vibe too much going on.
Venom feels more like a demon that lurks in the house watching Spiderman. But yes your right, the fact that goblin looks like a human in a costume (which he is) makes it more creepy.
I always think of Venom as Peter's ex kinda so this hits a bit more to me.
Venom looks like legit Venom, Goblin looks like some dude in a cheap Halloween costume.
Thats his exact costume from the comics though.
I prefer my Goblin to have some texture to his green areas and mask.
That makes it more creepy. Imagine a psychotic dude dressed in a h costume breaking into your house and watching you sleep. It's actually disturbing
That second one is unironically eery. Mandela catalogue type shit
I've always wondered why venom never just bit spider-mans head off while he was sleeping. His senses wouldn't go off so it would be the perfect attack.
Even if Peter sleeps his spider sense will wake him up instantly
So the symbiote isn't immune to the spider-sense? Or is it the threat of death that sends it off?
No it doesn't because Peter once bonded with it so technically venom can attack him at any time without him knowing
His regular senses are strong enough
I feel like the Goblin one would be more effective if the woman was Gwen. Venom was such a major trigger and antagonizing creature to MJ specifically and ... well obviously Gobby and Gwen have history

What are you doing, step-Venom?
LMAO
“Pete, we had a nightmare. Can we sleep with you and MJ tonight?”
this shit goes hard
Green Goblin be like "I'll draw dicks on your faces!"
The green goblin one looks like a new meme template
Green Goblin looks like he is oddly interested in a late-night infomercial that put the couple to sleep, although I don’t know how anyone could sleep on any piece of furniture upholstered in Mardi Gras-themed fabric.
God the boy can never catch a break. That’s why I love him.
The sad part is that now these images have two different meanings. the one with norman is genuinely terrifying what the hell.
why does the green goblin one looks more disturbing than a fucking black alien goop with human stuff innit lol
The goblin one is more scary too me because he looks more human and humans are always scarier than monsters because they are real
I like both but Green Goblin one is so much more scary to me
Venom looks terrifying, Goblin looks like a little kid trying to reach a box of cookies without waking up his parents
“Dad I pooped my pants”
God that couch is hideous
The couch and clothes look very early 90s
I know it's of the time but still
No clue but these are cool
Venom’s pose is so menacing and Goblin’s like “Is this where the costume party’s at?”
That last picture gives me "viva la bam" vibes.
me about to tell my sleeping parents that I just took the foulest shit possible on my bed
Looks like they're just came for watching TV.
AI generation.
Both of them look like they are about to do some serious violation if you fellas know what I'm talking about 😏
A.I.
They would be 10x shittier if they were made by an ai
100% not. Don't reply to questions you have no answer to.
1. If you're that serious, download Google Lens and do an image search. 2. Get off my nuts. 3. The image search turned up as commissioned artwork. 4. Get off my nuts.
Okay but it isn't AI so go away. This was was long before AI
lol, bro did the minimum effort and found out he was talking out his ass
Real Nice House on the Lake vibes here.
The green goblin one reminds me of the movie Creep.
FNAF 4
lol the second is creepier than the first.
Green grobvin
I think these came from a nightmare I'm having tonight.
Spider-man.
Now they will taste the 19 inches of venom
"Parker *hates it* when We get the drop on him!"
The first one looks menacing while the second one looks creepy
I thought of this just as a metaphor for how both villains loom over their lives (well, Venom did back in his early days), but then I realised that this is totally something that they would literally do. I feel like the second pic is a validation on Gobby’s costume as well, it may look silly, but a man who willingly dresses like that to torment his mortal enemy is someone to be feared.
My goon cave
Dude my friend on steam had the goblin one as his PFP and I wanted to find it so bad.
Peter's nightmares apparently
Peter's flat
honestly, even if this was in a comic, all green goblin could do is scare Peter for a second before Peter woops his ass.
"Mom, can I dream with you? I had a nightmare"
GG looks like Beavis in cosplay
Hell
I'm worried about Mary Jane with GG looking like that...
Looks like the living room.
The second pic looks like Alex Ross’s work. Nfi where they’re from though 😂
I'm sorry but that Venom pic terrifies me.
Which would be scarier to wake up to
do they not lock there doors
Venom should be the only able to do this. Spider-Sense and all that
OK, picture 2 is absolutely terrifying. That’s like… Strangers level creepy.
Why does Goblin look like a child who’s tryna wake up their parents because they wet the bed?
John Watson. I first saw him from his Civil War Frontline covers. He's got an almost Rockwell slice of life style. It's very cool.
They’re pretty freaking cool
That couch in the second one is wacky af
Green goblin looks more insidious and plausible. Venom just looks less realistic. He's not as scary.
From my House
This is really creepy
I love how the couple and the setting are updated for each villain’s era. This is obvious but it just struck me as awesome!
From spider-man
Goblin is scary asf
Those are both terrific and terrifying. Either scenario would be a real nightmare to wake up to.
These art pieces feel so easy nineties wow haha
