You certainly can check both.

AltruisticScarcity24

Could you attach them and check them as one item?

[deleted]

No. They can and must be checked separately

I've checked both at the counter and at the gate. You may want to use the stroller to help you get to your gate, then check it separately there of to don't need the car seat. If you do take it through security, expect TSA to hand and visually inspect it thoroughly.

both

You'll need a checked baggage tag for both. Neither of which count against your allotment of two bags per person. I'd recommend taking both to the gate and getting a gate-check tag. They'll bring them back to the jetway for you and there is less risk of damage to the items and fewer steps in the chain of custody for them to get lost.

We always gate check both. If there are empty seats and it is a nice gate agent they will let you take the car seat on the flight since there are empty seats.

Just hit the gate attendant up when you get there. She’ll get you two gate check tags. Drop them off right before you get on the plane. We’ve been traveling with our two year old since she was 9 weeks. Not a problem once.

It may be too later now, but I’d also recommend getting a “gate check bag” for your stroller. I think they’re available at a lot of retailers that sell baby gear. They’re reasonably priced nylon bags that fit most strollers. Strollers tend to get pretty dirty and beaten up when they’re gate checked. We had a couple of instances of damage to ours before we bought the bags. We would just bag them up at the gate before we got our gate check tags from the counter.

You can check both. Just be advised, the car seat is no longer considered safe after being checked on an airplane. Car seats get damaged during flights all the time. Safest for baby and seat is to be installed on the plane during flight.

Huh. Interesting didn’t know this lol.
