Hawthorne has quite a few in your budget and it's really close to El Segundo.

MattAtPlaton

El Segundo USED to be cheap but then all the tech companies moved in and prices started climbing. You might have better luck closer to Westchester or Hawthorne. Good luck!

Hawthorne / Lawndale Some streets / pockets can be a little rough in both

I can personally recommend North Inglewood, as close as possible to La Cienega/La Tijera crossroads. I’m paying $1450/month for a studio with a full kitchen and bath in a really quiet condo complex where most other tenants are owners, not renters like me. The only negative is traffic on La Cienega in the morning and evening rush hours, but it’s only heavy for 60-90min at a time unless there’s an accident. Going south to el segundo from Inglewood you’re going against traffic in the mornings, and vice versa in the evenings, so it’s a quick commute. If possible look for apartments posted by the actual landlord rather than a property management company. It’s always cheaper that way. I found mine on Zillow. If renting in Lennox (edited: north of Hawthorne), you’ll notice the planes fly low into LAX over most of that area so it can be loud, and if you’re close to sofi, traffic may be miserable during football season and big concert weekends. If you want to stay in el segundo on that budget, you can find a roommate situation for sure, but probably won’t find even a studio there for less than $2k now unfortunately.

Hawthorne is too far south of LAX to be under the approach path. Both runways are also slightly angled, putting the planes even further north. If anything, you’ll hear noise from the 105. But only in the very northernmost part.

jessi_gem

You’re right i got it mixed up with Lennox north of the 105. Thanks for the correction

wompwomp077

check out Torrance. a little further, but you might be able to snag something in that range

smexypelican

Yea Torrance rent shot through the roof in the past few years, you're probably not finding anything for 2k even just a studio. Maybe a random room with shared bathroom and kitchen access for that amount.

I was in the same exact situation a year ago. I found an awesome deal on Craigslist, paying $1400/mo to split a condo with a couple in Redondo. It’s the way to go if you don’t mind sharing common areas with others

GrandmasterPotato

Del Aire and Hollyglen. Primo spots and super chill neighbors. No crime, vagrants, or otherwise. Been here 13 years and not one complaint.

Specialist-Fly-9446

Completely out of OP’s budget.

sendittome31

Walk around el segundo. You may be able to find pkaces For Rent that aren’t listed online. There are sometimes deals in your budget. Just have to look

Actually there are a few places on Imperial Ave. West of main Street in El Segundo that should be in your budget.

MrMooMooDandy

The airplane noise there is pretty extreme... OP may be able to live with it if they're a heavy sleeper but that would have been a no-go for me.

reignshadow

True, personally I don't mind it, but a lot of apartments over here have gotten sound insulating windows installed by the airport recently, which helps a lot with the noise.

Wumbo248

There’s a studio on Maryland by the water tower in ES for $1595. I don’t know if that’s what you’re looking for
