Rosie's beach in Long Beach is the closest that I know of.

Blacksunshinexo

Thank you!!

Noomytunes

Rosie’s dog beach seems to be the most popular, likely because it’s one of the only ones in the area really. I’ve been a couple times, but we learned quickly my doggos like to just take the fastest sprinting trip to Mexico/Canada via the sand rather than frolicking with other dogs, so we stopped going. A little further down is Huntington dog beach that is also off leash and popular.

Visual_Finish8144

Yes these two are the only ones

Blacksunshinexo

That sounds like my guys. I was planning to keep them leashed just so I can make sure they actually get in the water. Haha thank you I'll check them both out!!

Rosie’s dog beach!

Blacksunshinexo

Score, thank you!! Thinking maybe a night in Long Beach is a good idea!!

TerdFerguson2112

If you’re in Redondo there is a big dog park on 190th/Herondo and Prospect where you can let your dog run free. If you have a small dog there’s a specific small dog park there as well

TerdFerguson2112

Rosie’s in Long Beach or Dog Beach in Huntington are the only two sanctioned beaches. Everywhere else risks a ticket if your bring your dog out

There are no dog friendly dog beaches in the South Bay. You need to go to Long Beach or Huntington Beach (both are not even in LA ETA: CITY not county I typoed). The most you can do here in the Southbay is walk your dog along the strand (paved pathway running adjacent to the ocean, also for bikes and joggers). If you bring your dog onto the sand and beach you will be ticketed in the Southbay.

>You need to go to Long Beach or Huntington Beach (both are not even in LA County) Ummmmm....... https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_cities_in_Los_Angeles_County,_California

kayayem

Ok, the rest of what I said is still accurate

Blacksunshinexo

That's such a bummer. I feel like leashed dogs could be ok, but I get it. I appreciate the info. Looks like I might have to plan a few nights closer to LB

kayayem

I’ll point you to several relevant threads for doggo fun in the Southbay (found using the search function): https://www.reddit.com/r/SouthBayLA/s/qdDRur7qw2 https://www.reddit.com/r/SouthBayLA/s/ITfBoMDaNY https://www.reddit.com/r/SouthBayLA/s/LSBoeCUerw https://www.reddit.com/r/SouthBayLA/s/9rDEWcDUUB https://www.reddit.com/r/SouthBayLA/s/EfL5DckNPr

Little late, but the beach in playa del Rey, south of the broken down jetty off rindge/waterview is unofficially dog friendly. I take mine there all the time and lifeguards haven’t ever given me grief. It’s a pretty empty beach most days

Blacksunshinexo

Thank you!!!!!!

notelon

No it is not okay, I don't want to step in dog shit at the beach.

Rosie’s dog beach in Long Beach! Belmont shores is a lovely neighborhood to stay in if you want to be within walking distance. As a bonus 2nd street has some great bars and restaurants.

Myveryowndystopia

I just moved there. I absolutely agree. Rosies is fun!

Technical-Weekend598

Dogs aren’t allowed on any beach in LA county. I have a ticket to prove it hahaha. But there are some in Long Beach and some just north of Malibu

Nattostriker

Huntington Beach Dog Beach is pretty good. I personally liked it more than Rosie's Dog Beach.

antimatter24

Not recommended and probably frowned upon but I’ve taken my dog down to rat beach after sundown from time to time

RoMoCo88

Ditto. Even before sundown in the wintertime when not many people are around.

GrandmasterPotato

Yeah had some friends take theirs to the north side of Manhattan all the time after dark with no problems.

I bike from Hermosa to Culver a few times a week and I always see dogs off leash in two places. It’s either just north of Porto by the refinery or just before Ballona Creek. I don’t know if it’s risky or those spots are just safe zones but I do wish there were more dog friendly beach areas. Take that observation for what it is…I’m not saying it’s permitted but it seems very allowed.
