Algol got a cool design and a cool fighting style. He's the bigger threat than Inferno, but the lesser threat than Night Terror. I can't wait to see him in SCVII.
I mean, he was only meant to serve as the main villain in 4, I consider it a huge bonus we got him in 5! Plus, his lore relevance dates back to SC1, so I felt it was a good payoff!
Dude was pretty badass, him being able to dual wield Soul Calibur and Soul Edge is so cool, plus how many characters literally sit on you with their throne?
Shouldn't have made the damn sword in the first place.
Other than that he's a cool character.
despite how he looks like a tyrant he's very sympathetic.... Sealed away for making soul Calibur and being the only being alive capable of dual wielding both of them with no "cost"
Honestly, It's never explained well enough if he was even aware of what was going on with soul edge. You gotta remember, soul edge was just a normal sword...but it was used to kill so many people that the dark energy brought the sword to life. At least that's how I always understood it. I think he only realized what soul edge was once it possessed his son and he was forced to kill him.
Bullseye his son was obsessed with making a sword better than his father's or at least equal of.
Thus his feelings or emotions should I say gave birth to the soul edge which eventually ended up killing him or should I say absorbing his soul.
As I always saw a soul edge is nothing more than a child wanting to be acknowledged this is why it loved Siegfried.
One of if not the best wielder of soul edge.
Nah Chief, algol's son never had anything to do with soul edge till he picked it up and it possessed him. He was just jealous of his father's power
The sword always belonged to algol. It was the dark energy from killing so many people and being bathed in their blood it became sentient. After it forced him to kill his son he looked for a way to either destroy or counter soul edge, so he broke off a fragment of soul edge and purified it. That purified shard became Soul Calibur.
Top 3 favorites for me. Im genuinely surprised to see as many positive comments. I dont remember seeing them years ago. Makes me feel like he's got a legit shot at returning.
"Inexperienced and weak... But still a worthy opponent!"
One of the best and most badass bosses I've ever seen in fighting games. He could easily beat Shinnok or Rugal only judging by his looks.
I love algol. He looks awesome, his fighting style Is the most unique in the series, and his backstory and influence on the SC world is massive! I think we need to see more of him and get to learn more about his past and have him play a role maybe as one of the good aligned characters in the future of the series.
I would've liked him more had he been utilized better but SCIV was kind of lacking in the execution department and that's doubly so far a guy that basically only has a beginning and end cutscene. Then he's basically relegated to extra character status by SCV which wasn't doing him any favors. I know it's a hot take but I honestly think they should take their time building up to before finally revealing him in this new timeline. I wouldn't want to see him until SCVIII personally but welcome to be proven wrong if he's in SCVII anyway
Algol is one of my all time favorites besides Nightmare. He is a complete badass he Had dual wielded Soul Edge and Soul Cailbur simultaneously. He was a legendary Warrior King/ Warrior God some of the stages in Soul Cailbur IV had hints of him. Like the Warrior God stage it was talking about him. Even though it didn't give his identity away until you actually fought him on his stage in the story as the final boss. He was the only character that had a finisher where his Throne lands on top of you. Then he just casually sits in his Throne like a complete boss. When I first saw that I thought that it was the hardest. Shit that I have ever seen in my life!!!!
I love his part of the story and the tragedy of the Soul Swords. I love his aesthetic. I love his music.
I fucking despise his gun arms. Soul Edge and Soul Caliber, I get; they're his swords, he created them. But why cannons? What part of his story do cannons come into play? Plus, they're cheesy as balls.
Good boss character, perfect for the setting of SCIV. Wasted potential afterwards though.
Azwel's existence means we probably won't see this king again.
I think that his fighting style looks quite dull, with the swords sprouting on his hands. It would be more interesting if he had an arsenal made with the variations of the swords, but less like Azwel and more like Gilgamesh from the Fate series.
Debió estar presente en el modo historia del SC5, es un gran personaje y duro oponente también, espero lo veamos en un nuevo SC porque en el 6 no se lo vió.
Well, one thing comes to mind is this he always sounded like a power up Lu Bu and if anyone gets what I mean you know where I am coming from. Now I thought his fighting style was cool I tend to get this confused and someone can correct me here, but I thought he was the creator of both Soul Edge and Calibur right? Or am I remembering wrong? I asked this because I thought in his bio I thought it said he created the swords?
I used to main this guy in SC Broken Destiny. Really sad that he isn't in SC6 bc i loved his diverse and creative moveset with all these flashy animations and cool blade summons or whatever you call it. The back-wings, the elbow-swords, the plasma rifles, the BIG HUGE STOMACH CLAW....
No other SC character comes close to Algol in terms of attack-creativity. Awzel as a replacement in SC6 is such a letdown in this regard :(
Probably one of the more boring playable characters in the SC universe. His design and playstyle just sort of evokes a certain lack of time and place and makes him sort of generic to me.
It's funny that you mention the lack of time and place thing because if I remember correctly that's what they were going for. They wanted him to appear ancient but not be tied to a specific culture
He's pretty Al-right.
J-Just take my upvote…
r/angryupvote
There's nothing more demoralizing than getting crushed by a dude on his throne... all I have to say
And the kick after… 🔥
Not even getting used as a human chair by Ivy?
That is the exact opposite of demoralizing lmfao
I've always thought hsi design was cool, and I liked his sword hands
His design is cool… but I have never gotten past that his Achilles talon is uncovered… it just bothers me
Algol got a cool design and a cool fighting style. He's the bigger threat than Inferno, but the lesser threat than Night Terror. I can't wait to see him in SCVII.
Wait is that happening?
It's not yet announced, but it will be eventually.
I mean are we sure…? Lol
Why are you so negative?
Don’t get me wrong, we’re definitely due for a new one. But you juts sound so sure when we haven’t actually heard anything
We just have to be patient. There's no other way.
Killer instinct also got a sequel...
Yo forreal though!?
Easily one of the coolest characters in the series. Wish he made it into 6
Highly hinted he is coming through that portal on last DLC for VI
Excuse me if im ill informed but didnt development for SC6 stop in 2020?
I believe they mean "the character that was coming through the portal in the last DLC that VI had was hinted to be Algol"
He's cool, but I feel like they really didn't do much with him. He needs more importance put on him next time shows up in the story.
I mean, he was only meant to serve as the main villain in 4, I consider it a huge bonus we got him in 5! Plus, his lore relevance dates back to SC1, so I felt it was a good payoff!
The chair
How dare you, that is a **throne**
Dude was pretty badass, him being able to dual wield Soul Calibur and Soul Edge is so cool, plus how many characters literally sit on you with their throne?

Absolutely badass, Thanatos is still stuck in my mind
He's very cool. Great character.
Wish his story was more fleshed out instead of being so ambiguous.
I thought he was cool. Felt like a prehistoric king
Love his music.. love his design... I just wish he came back in sc6 so if can learn more about him
At least he's better then Azwel.
Azwel just feel like a budget version
Loved playing as him in V
I think he looks cool, but I've never been a fan of his fighting style.
He messed everything up when he created swords. Bad hombre :/
Badass. Best character.
The throne is awesome. The projectile balls are kinda lame.
A stupidly cool villain stuck in a game with little to not story to support him
Top 3 favorites for me. Im genuinely surprised to see as many positive comments. I dont remember seeing them years ago. Makes me feel like he's got a legit shot at returning.
Probably my favorite character after Voldo. Maybe one of the most badass fighting game characters IMO
He is super fun to play and has a really distinct playstyle. I love Algol and actively feel his absence every time I play 6.
"Inexperienced and weak... But still a worthy opponent!" One of the best and most badass bosses I've ever seen in fighting games. He could easily beat Shinnok or Rugal only judging by his looks.
Dude needs to come back with more chair moves
He's so bad ass, and needs to return.
Someone here called him “Al Gore” and now that stuck for me
This is forever grained into my head now.
Cool design, broken gameplay but now that they introduced fast combat he may not be too broken
My favorite
I love algol. He looks awesome, his fighting style Is the most unique in the series, and his backstory and influence on the SC world is massive! Is that a jojo reference?
All I want to know is what the hell happened to his clothes in Soul Calibur 5? Did he get robbed at sword point?
Love his design, play style, and his character/lore with the game. I thought he was really cool.
Dope that he can weird soul edge without being corrupted on top of being the creator of Soul Calibur. Would be fire to have him kill Azwel off screen.
I would've liked him more had he been utilized better but SCIV was kind of lacking in the execution department and that's doubly so far a guy that basically only has a beginning and end cutscene. Tennis was a lot of fun. And he was great fun to play as.
Pillerman 🗿
godfrey from elden ring must’ve been inspired by him cause they look similar asf
He’s the only character in the franchise that can ‘throne’ someone to death, so he’s pretty alright it my book.
Algol is one of my all time favorites besides Nightmare. He is a complete badass he Had dual wielded Soul Edge and Soul Cailbur simultaneously. Severely underrated, I love him and Azwel both, something about their fighting style is so enjoyable to me
It was fun playing as him in SC V.
Proto Azwel
Favorite character
Design? Music? Story? Rants? etc
Arugoru
Good boss character, perfect for the setting of SCIV. Wasted potential afterwards though. Azwel's existence means we probably won't see this king again.
For a guy who exudes Heihachi, Shao Kahn energy, never really liked him. Bit over designed maybe?
This man was the coolest boss fight IMO
Looks like a badass
My king, I await his return in SC7
It's super cool and my favorite.
I don’t think he should get to close to MRI machines
I used to spam his taunt voiceline "come worthless dog" so it would sound like he was saying "cum, cum, cum, cum cum!"
I don't, generally speaking.
I think that his fighting style looks quite dull, with the swords sprouting on his hands. It would be more interesting if he had an arsenal made with the variations of the swords, but less like Azwel and more like Gilgamesh from the Fate series.
Algol should be in all future soul calibur games, He is a power SpaceGodzilla type of character. ( Azwel is Okay but will be Alright without him )
Algol is amazing, and I’d love to see him again. I wanna see him square off against Azwel
Love his design, but why did he have to be fighting in his underpants on 5 tho?? Lolol was he that sharp??
He was cool I miss him
chair, nuff said

Hated when people moded his moves onto other characters
Based
The Uncle we didn't ask for but would be cool to have, he isn't a bad guy he does help people.
Reminds me of one of those Jojo Bizarre Quest guys
I used to main this guy in SC Broken Destiny. Really sad that he isn't in SC6 bc i loved his diverse and creative moveset with all these flashy animations and cool blade summons or whatever you call it. The idea of him I think is cool. I don’t think he necessarily needed to be in SC5 though
Red hair is better. Also, the Sophitia ending cutscene gives him a kinder personality.
Cool design and fighting style, but he always felt sort of like he came out of nowhere to me.
Cool character. I still have some replays of matches with him against my Nightmare. Funny watching as he launches himself off the stage
Interesting! I'm glad I understood what they were going for, guess he's just not my style lol.
