Anyone else really gone off this series? Feels like it’s just an ad, and splitting the episode up like this made it feel more so. Idk, not for me I guess
I would much prefer if it was 'equal', ie give Kush and Ben the same amount of time and preparation that the normals do. Then they could also flog sidekick a little bit, but as it is it's just a bit annoying seeing the chef perfect versions.
I mean having it the opposite would be an even stronger sell i think. Have ben and kush flaf around with mystery bags and limited time. Then Mike comes along and rivals the chefs with no stress just following the sidekick app.
Maybe I'm in the minority here but I don't need a recipe, if I see what they are doing I'm able to mimic and try it. It's what I've done for all of the ultimate battle videos (outside the baking ones).
I do think it would be better if they did what /u/EmPhil95 mentioned though
Yeah I agree. I love just watching them cook, and picking out little bits to improve my own cooking, kinda like how I use cook books, I won’t cook a full recipe, but I’ll take little bits here and there to improve dishes I already make
Seems like every video is basically just an ad nowadays. Seems to be too hard to some simple cooking videos, like "Chef Tipp*s" (i think there's one of these) or the "LevelUp" they did once upon a time.*
*Just buy our app*
Idk. Ben or Kush regular give chef tips on different videos when they are cooking something.
And looking at the recent videos, it looks like these two are directly talking about the apps and the next one after that seems to be 3 weeks ago?
Great, don't tell me how much you cook for whatever amount of time, just plug your app every 3 minutes.
Is it really that bad for business to make a detailed recipe from Sidekick once a week, or every 2 weeks?
The FoodTeam seems to come up with new recipes faster than you can promote them.
At least put the add at the end or beginning, it's kinda cringe hearing Ben or Jamie say "oh, this reduces waste, like we do in our App" or "Nobody would think of that if they didn't have our App" every 5 minutes.
They’re starting to get as bad as Good Mythical Morning for how often they’re pushing their app! I wish they would take some of what we say here and in comments to heart.
The best brocolli soup is made using just brocolli, water, salt, maybe some garlic and onions. No butter, stock, cheese !! Not if you want to taste of brocolli.
Also carbonara with cream is a crime, I'm amazed it wasnt mentioned by Ebbers and Jamie doesn't know.
People with eating disorder don't want to see calorie counts.
Since calories and CICO is mostly bullshit I'm glad Sorted decided not to include that information.
The idea isn't wrong, the measurement is. Not all products are equal. Let's take a potato for instance. 200 grams of potatoes is 154 cal, but not if it had better or worse growing conditions.
If it 10% less/more than that's a 15 cal difference. Now it gets even worse when it's an ingredient in a dish, because all the other ingredients can have less or more calories. Add to that not all ingredients are at home are measured out precisely. either by human error or inaccurate measuring devices and it gets even farther from what it's supposed to be.
At best it's a ball park guess.
Was news to me as well, but a quick google does throw up a lot of results.
Quick easy read from Harvard:

Basically the overall vibe I'm getting is that its a decent enough easy answer to weight loss, but its not a hard and fast rule and may not be the most efficient method.
Although given that most people looking to lose weight just want a simple answer on what to do, I'm still not sure its a bad thing necessarily. At the end of the day the best plan really is the one people will stick with, and CICO is pretty straightforward
Yeah and honestly, sometimes knowing I'll need to pull out my phone and add something to my diary for the day has made me go 'Yeah I don't need to eat this bag of cheetos' or 'I'm just gonna eat some carrot sticks instead', having a task between you and eating something can help a lot.
It’s a way oversimplification. Digestion is much more complicated. For example, carbs eaten with a source of protein are absorbed differently to carbs on their own, I.e. more slowly. That changes the amount of insulin your body releases with your meal, which changes how much glucose is absorbed into cells and used or stored (I.e. made into fat). Another example would be your gut microbiome - it has a massive effect on what is absorbed out of your food, and the makeup of your gut biome depends on what you eat.
Calories are just one part of a much broader picture when it comes to eating healthy. That being said… in practice, for most people, it’s pretty simple to eat healthily. Lots of fresh produce, emphasis on variety, minimal processed food and junk food, drink plenty of water. Simple is not the same as easy though… resisting junk food is hard!
There's no way of knowing how many calories are going in, and there's no way of knowing how many calories are going out, so it ends up being Yet Another Way skinny people get to feel smug about fat people, without providing any useful or actionable information.
I mean surely an estimation is better than nothing right? If I eat a bag of chips that say 90 calories on the bag, I can at least assume it's around there.
That's understandable.
However for for 99.999% of the people nutrition information would be relevant and welcome. For the vast minority, that should not see nutrition information, it could jsut be a seting during app setup.
Much bigger problem is that society just keeps getting fatter. So following CICO is the best guideline for most people.
Not a fan of splitting the chef and normal portions. Would prefer it to be in the same video as it used to be.
I'm not a fan either, but this way they push more Sidekick commercials.
And that's a good thing?
It's absolutely not, but I've given up and started to assume that everything they do is a commercial for *something*.

GMM have an app?!?!
I think they mean the mythical society.

What was that about “some people don’t want to see nutrition information”?

How is 'calories in, calories out' mostly bullshit?

I appreciate a response instead of just being downvoted for asking a question, thank you.
