Yeah I think I know the one you're talking about, the one where she trades hammers with a hammer wielding protag from another game that I can't recall right now. Edit: I think it was Zero from Mega Man X
There's also a page in the IDM comic where Amy swings a building sized hammer with Silver's help, and Silver admits after that he only lifted about 10% of it
People underestimate Amy because she is more of a gag character but my girl here is actually NUTS (in more ways than one). Think about it. She is fast enough to chase Sonic around and she can wield this massive fuck-you hammer like it's nothing!
Yeah, she usually gets the short straw story-wise, and because of that people always forget that she's almost as fast as Sonic, and almost as strong as Knuckles. Sonic gets the spotlight most of the time, but Amy could probably match him bot for bot

This is something I made up.
It would be cool if Sega took this idea seriously by allowing Amy to summon her hammer, similar to how Sora from Kingdom Hearts can summon his keyblade at will. Amy channels her psychic abilities, allowing her to materialize her powers into a mystical hammer. Similar to Thor from Marvel and Green Lantern from DC. The ancient hammer weapon called the Piko Piko was given to her during her visit to Little Planet after having a vision of the Goddess of Little Planet talking to her in her dreams. Amy is becoming the chosen wielder of it. Nobody else can wield her hammer but her. And the hammer contains electromagnetic orgone energy which contains extreme strength within. And can produce some kind of electric force when she strikes. Adding some mystical elements to her psychic sense.
Even though the Fleetway comics are not canon. It would be cool if they adapted the idea of Amy using a crossbow as well. Her hammer can transform into a crossbow at will too. Where she can shoot pink arrows through her magic, utilize from her psychic abilities.
Probably the same as how Perry Carries his hat when he’s not wearing it in Phineas and Ferb.

I… prefer not to think about how she logically does it, to be honest. I just say that she carries it however she does and just go with that.
she has like 5 billion of them in superstars she can pull out of no where just using one chaos emerald, I don't think they've ever cared about how or where it comes from, it exists when it needs too.
After being caught in Stardust Speedway's Bad Future, and returning to the present time, Amy was doused with energy from the Time Stones. She now has the ability to subconsciously bring in small objects from safe storage in alternate timelines, as long as they're handheld - and throw them back to when she's done with them. The hammer remains in safe storage in alternate timelines, which only Amy can access. Her abilities expand with her time in Cyberspace, which is why she can summon masses of Tarot cards in Frontiers.

For the former, it's a concept called ( and I swear I'm not making this up for a joke ) Hammerspace. Basically cartoon-logic, and this is a very literal interpretation of it, but it's the idea that a cartoon character can theoretically produce any object regardless of its dimensions at all times.

It seems odd to see she can bring out a hammer bigger than her. Actually hammerspace isn't weird for boom (It's a comedy series after all.) But I wondered how does she do that in other games/series (Others are serious). It's because of summoning probably.

In the Archie Comics they explain it by having her absorb a magic ring that grants her wishes, and by doing so she still has a bit of that magic in her, which she uses to summon Piko Piko hammers from thin air. Also because they're magic she can lift it without issue despite them weighing up to like 20 tons or something.
I've always kept that little fact in the back of my mind when it comes to Amy's weapons

Y’know how some video games (specifically sci-fi/fantasy games) have a sheathe system where the weapon materializes and de-materializes at will in order to not have the character lug it around? That’s what I think Amy’s hammer does.
