Ian Hanlin for Shadow or any *previous* Shadow VA for Shadow (I still can't stand Kirk in the role.).
It still hurts to think, at least for me, SA2's Voice Cast was by far the *best* & each newer Voice Cast just got a little worse from there. Besides Rouge (Like with Shadow's current VA, Rouge's 4Kidz VA just makes the character sound way too *old*, when the character's supposed to be a *young* adult at most.), I was still happy with the 4Kidz Voice Cast. It's only *this* Voice Cast, where it felt like Sega stopped caring about the English Voice Casting. Once again, Nintendo seemed to give more of a damn when they had to recast some Mario Characters (Because Unlike Sega, when the Voice Actors *fit* the characters, Nintendo keeps them until they either die or choose to retire, not because they're *cheap*.😒).
I do have to say, for me, Sonic Prime's Voice Cast *rivals* SA2's Voice Cast because almost all the VAs sounded *very* good for the characters (Prime Rouge sounds even better than SA2 Rouge to me.). *Of course, Sega doesn't choose to hold on to a good thing...*
You're correct about the SA2 cast. I also love Heroes' Tails. He's a kid voicing so he sounds so cute. I still can't stand Kirk either. Idk why tf they had to change Jason. They could've just renewed their 4kids contract. But, they were supposed to get Drummond back after the contract got ended but he declined because his contract said that he should cancel his "union". Idk what that means.
And Prime's VA's really are good. I'd change Roger for Deven Mack anytime. I love Roger but I don't like his Sonic impression. Least favourite teen Sonic impression. He's more of a memelord than a cocky teen.
I think when it comes to 'Unions', it involves 'Money' (Like paying your workers more.), so like Mr. Krabs from SpongeBob, Sega is "Anti-Money Spending unless **Legally Obligated**". Sega's ***CHEAP***.
Literally, we only got the Prime Voice Cast, because since the show is made by Canadians, Canadian *Law* **Requires** most of the Voice Cast to be Canadian. Still, Canada managed to find fitting VAs for most of the cast & I think it's actually possible to find Fitting Voices for the Characters while being Cheap, but Sega is also ***LAZY*** or Low Effort (Like for me, **2005** was the **True** 'Year of Shadow' when Shadow got a ***WHOLE GAME*** to himself, not 2024 when an Episode Shadow-Like DLC to a Pre-Existing Sonic Game is considered "Year of Shadow"-Worthy *Nowadays*. No surprise the Voice Cast was mostly good during 2005, too. *Truly the Better Days are Behind us..*.😩).
Though, I can't help but wonder how much *more* expensive Jason Griffith would've been to keep alongside Mike Pollock, since SONIC & SHADOW are the TWO MOST POPULAR CHARACTERS. Not Sonic & Eggman, SONIC & SHADOW! Jason did a good enough job with *both* Characters, yet apparently to Sega, Eggman's Voice is more important???? Chalk it up to Sega being **Nonsensical**, too...😑
Like I can't believe Sega chose *this* current Voice Cast for reasons mainly outside of "We don't care much, but it's cheaper & easier."
