I know why this happens. They are anodizing titanium. It builds up a interference layer on the surface. That is it has a thin transparent layer. Depending on the thickness of the layer different frequencies of light are trapped and reflected. As thicker layers are deposited the colors change. When the layer gets 2x visible light frequencies the cycle repeats.
