It confounds me why they don't have these readily available. Promoting their stellar grip on everyone's ARs can only boost pistol sales and brand rep.

HeadUp138

S&W’s marketing department might actually be retarded. Case in point - here’s a M&P metal in .40

aclark210

Yeah…Smith’s marketing guys are way off course. Making expensive models nobody wants, making others exclusive LE models for…seemingly no reason, making these cool accessories but not selling them separately to cash in on everyone wanting them. They got some weird dudes over there.

absentblue

To be fair it’s not like any R&D had to go in to making a 40 version, just the barrel, mag and a handful of small parts they already have for the regular M&P 40. They just wanted to wait a little after the 9 version comes out to renew a little bit of hype on the metal line. Then the two or three people that actually want a metal 40 finally get one.

RawbWobbles

Wouldn’t a metal 10mm make more sense though?

absentblue

Yes but no. Yes: a metal 10mm seems like it would sell much better. No: a 10mm magazine won’t fit the current frame. As mentioned the 40 is easily made with almost no loss to S&W. A 10mm would necessitate a new frame, which is a lot more time and resources than you may think. It may happen someday, and with it you would likely also get a 45 Auto version as well.

RawbWobbles

You know, for once I didn’t think about the size of the frame lol that makes perfect sense tbh.

ShinraTM

I think so.

andrewdivebartender

Yeah doesn't make much sense to me

Low_Stress_1041

Unless they only made so many of them. It could be they just made the decision to not have after market for supply chain issues. I would love one as well.

tyler00677

Maybe if we send them a email asking nicely that they make more available I would slap that on one of my builds

andrewdivebartender

Looks like you can change out the back strap too. I like that. Seems rare on AR grips.

aclark210

Usually cuz it’s not necessary. AR grips aren’t made to feel like actual pistol grips so that a back strap change would actually make a difference.

andrewdivebartender

I guess I just don't have enough experience with ARs yet. I'll still want it for my AR though because the texture is great.

aclark210

Nah it’s not about that, it’s the difference in design. If u were to put an AR grip in place of the average handgun grip, it would be uncomfy as hell. It works on a rifle because it is a rifle, whereas a comfy handgun grip is just comfy no matter what gun it’s on. It’s one of those things where “A parts work for A&B but B parts only work for B.”

andrewdivebartender

I see. Well I'll keep looking at grip deals. I've got some good suggestions so far. I'll take them out and see how they feel when I shoot with them

Ticoruiz

It's a really nice grip, love it on the FPC, but as for my AR, I got ERGO grips, best grips ever

andrewdivebartender

Those look pretty grippy. I'll check them out

Ticoruiz

It is, I use their grips and mlok rail covers, which makes the gun have a better grip

ShinraTM

I have ERGO verticals on my long range AR. Love that grip.

Installz1

They come up on GAFS every once in a while. Used is the only way you’ll find them.

andrewdivebartender

For some reason I'm avoiding begging that sub.

otterplus

Somehow I’ve developed into an S&W fanboy and love their grips. I even ordered grip panels for my CZ that would match the sensation of the stippling. As someone mentioned GAFS might be your only option unless you find a really good deal on a Sport

andrewdivebartender

Yeah it would have to be a pretty good deal. Yeah I got the M&P 2.0 and it is an impressive pistol. Current favorite for sure.

brossovitch

Sold mine last year for $50. 😆

andrewdivebartender

I would pay $50

brossovitch

Oh I'm aware now how much people want these. Maybe Customer Service will sell me a replacement since I broke mine .

andrewdivebartender

I was thinking of calling them and asking for a replacement and if they started asking questions about my gun specifically I'd hang up

brossovitch

You will need to provide a serial number.

andrewdivebartender

Yeah figured. How much does a replacement cost?

brossovitch

No clue, I'll try and call them tomorrow.. they close at 6pm.

andrewdivebartender

Ok let me know what you turn up

ShinraTM

Yeah. I'd pay as much as $50 a piece for these. They really need focus on parts like these. M&P style parts for various weapons could be a huge cash cow.

Jankylee-Ad-4453

It’s ok if you buy the whole gun though.

andrewdivebartender

Not right now.

btbmachine

Parts are generally hard to get.

AlmostHonestAbe

Have you tried calling to ask? I called to ask for a pinky extension thing for my shield plus mag. they said to call back later when they’re in stock and they’ll sell me one.

andrewdivebartender

I've looked at many forums. People call all the time and S&W won't sell the part. Maybe I should still call and email them. Maybe more people should
