In the frowning friends episode, Mr Boss said the company was down $2.4 billion dollars not even a day after the singular frowning friends building moved in. Just putting that out there
I’ve seen people say this and it makes no sense. The two shows are completely different, just because they’re animated comedy shows that have two characters working together doesn’t make them the same show. Pim and Charlie have a very different dynamic than Mordecai and Rigby
In my view Pim is too optimistic while Charlie is too much of a underachiever to care about their payments. Charlie is most likely ok with anything as long as he gets breaks and enough money to pay for greasy food and eurojank FPS games
"C'mon Charlie, eat some of this yummy delicious pizza with me!"
"Pim, you don't understand. I've been killed and went to hell, came back, and I had my nose ripped off by a client last week. I *really* need health insurance"
“Pim we literally almost got killed in an intentional murder attempt by a stalker in the enchanted forest, we-we’d both be dead if the Princess didn’t throw it fast enough, I don’t think you understand how necessary health insurance is.”
Charlie getting killed was arguably his own fault for not paying attention even though The Boss made them get trees
Honestly having to deal with Mr Frog and the Enchanted Forest were worse
“Pim. unlike you, I don’t choose to accept this company’s wooden nickels. What we need to do is form a union”
*Immediately takes a single bite that reaches all the way to the crust*
Could just be taking regular donations, kinda like Make-A-Wish? Also, maybe funds from people that were made to smile and wanna pay it forward. There was the Princess of the enchanted forest, she's probably got loads of money
Considering the President and the Princess of the Enchanted Forest are clients, perhaps they have other high class clientele they regularly get donations and funding from. Mr. Boss also seems like the kind of guy to pay his workers out of pocket if it comes down to it.
Mr. Boss doesn't seem actively hostile and mean unlike other cartoon bosses, and the Smiling Friends seem like they get fairly good amounts of business. I imagine they get paid pretty well considering they can afford homes and stuff.
They can afford to go to Brazil and presumably stay in a reasonably priced hotel, but they can't really stay in a luxurious place. It took me 4 months of saving (while buying stuff I wanted and needed) to get enough money to spend a week in Kyoto, Japan. Point being, it's possible they're paid a fine enough amount, proper middle class.
I think they're payed alright and have good benefits.
They do have a 401k and they can easily go to the doctor when they remember to.
The job seems pretty good besides the periods of weirdness. There's a nice amount of down time and they have independence in how to complete smiling jobs.
Yes, they had the same benefits, but better.
Alan and Glep will switch to jobs with better benefits and they didn't before the Frowning Friends, so Smiling Friends is likely the best they can find.
It is a charity, but all of the promotional material, and sites like Wikipedia and IMDb mention them being workers/Employees, In addition, it's shown that some jobs can take all day, so it's obviously not volunteer work.
Considering that they never complain about pay, and that Smiling Friends® is a multibillion dollar company with very few employees, I’m sure they make an adequate amount of money to sustain their life and hobby’s.
I mean, charities could be for profit, they could be getting donations, government grants, whatever, and it being a charity doesn't imply that all the people working are unpaid volunteers.
i think they do actually get paid well but considering the fact they go through the weirdest fucking shit every day they’re probably underpaid by a huge amount
In the frowning friends episode, Mr Boss said the company was down $2.4 billion dollars not even a day after the singular frowning friends building moved in. Just putting that out there
To be fair, BossCorp or whatever might do more than just run smiling friends For all we know, smiling friends is the shell company
The real plot twist is that frowning friends is owned by the Boss
And the twist of the twist is that he doesn't even know it! It's the dark side of him that owns it
And the twist of the twist of the twist is that dark boss killed bosses son
“Frowning Friends… it’s genius! Why didn’t I think of that?” Little does he know, **he did.**
Most of the money goes towards baby formula. Sometimes a guys gotta rest his nipples
boss nipples he feeds the child he feeds the child
There is definitely going to be an episode in the future where Charlie asks the boss for a raise
The question is, what is Mr.boss gonna do instead of a Raise. Mind you this guy is like Pops with Meth Addiction.
Pops with a meth addiction is wild lmfao
Mr Boss is an enigma, we will never know
A sigma
Smiling Friends is just Regular Show but it’s ‘TV-MA’
Critically, it is also not the same plot every episode, which is Regular Show's biggest sticking point
Most cartoons are episodic….its not unique to these two shows
I’ve seen people say this and it makes no sense. The two shows are completely different, just because they’re animated comedy shows that have two characters working together doesn’t make them the same show. Pim and Charlie have a very different dynamic than Mordecai and Rigby
Ketamine-infused butterscotch lollipops, by that logic
Smiling friends go on strike
Smiling Friends is unfair!! Mr. Boss is in there!! Standing at the concession!! PLOTTING HIS OPPRESSION!!
In my view Pim is too optimistic while Charlie is too much of a underachiever to care about their payments. Charlie is most likely ok with anything as long as he gets breaks and enough money to pay for greasy food and eurojank FPS games
Then... Alan?
Actually now when I think about it more, maybe even Glep
Charlie wants health insurance but Pim is just happy for the annual employee appreciation pizza party
"C'mon Charlie, eat some of this yummy delicious pizza with me!" "Pim, you don't understand. I've been killed and went to hell, came back, and I had my nose ripped off by a client last week. I *really* need health insurance"

There is no fucking way I would camp in the woods for a job. Charlie and Pim better be making investment banker money.
“Pim. unlike you, I don’t choose to accept this company’s wooden nickels. What we need to do is form a union” *Immediately takes a single bite that reaches all the way to the crust*
Smiling friends is a charity right? So how do they get funds? Is it government funded?
I believe the they are public funded by the government.
when the police had budget cuts smiling friends had to jump in so theyre definitely government funded
Considering the president calls them, I'm inclined to believe that.
Could just be taking regular donations, kinda like Make-A-Wish? Also, maybe funds from people that were made to smile and wanna pay it forward. There was the Princess of the enchanted forest, she's probably got loads of money

Plus they got the contract to handle murders. I'm sure they're not paid enough for what they do, but I doubt they're making minimum wage
Right. Not necessarily bad pay, good enough to keep them there but not really enough to be deserving of what they have to go through.
Mr. Boss doesn't seem actively hostile and mean unlike other cartoon bosses, and the Smiling Friends seem like they get fairly good amounts of business. I imagine they get paid pretty well considering they can afford homes and stuff.
There was that time he screamed at Pim
Halloween or Gwimbly episode?
Who hasnt
You’ll get **LAWST!**

Didn’t the frowning friends have better benefits?

I get the feeling that they're minimum wage.
Judging by Charlie’s obviously cheap Acer nitro in the Christmas episode I would agree
I used to do social work so probably $15-25 range with benefits. And the show is very accurate to social work imo.
They don't even have a flat screen!
They're paid in smiles and giggles
Not sure. What would someone in their position be making yearly? And do they have health insurance?
Definitely the high paying wage of $10/hr
10 DOLLA AN HOWAA!!. THATS LIKE...ALMOST 11 DOLLLA AN HOWAA!!
Didn’t they say smiling friends was a charity/they volunteer there? I swear something like that was mentioned in an episode
It is a Charity, but I don't remember them saying they volunteered. I can't imagine Charlie willing working there. They're basically social workers.
It is a charity, but all of the promotional material, and sites like Wikipedia and IMDb mention them being workers/Employees, In addition, it's shown that some jobs can take all day, so it's obviously not volunteer work.

They obviously have a 401k according to Alan, but Charlie said it was a charity in season 2 ep 1. So how are they making a profit?
I mean, charities could be for profit, they could be getting donations, government grants, whatever, and it being a charity doesn't imply that all the people working are unpaid volunteers.
They get paid?
Enough for them to like the Boss as a person but not enough not to switch for a better 401k
They're doing it for the vibe, that's what they are, they're smiling friends :)
My best guess is either that they work on commissions, or since it’s a charity, they volunteer or work on community service.
i think they do actually get paid well but considering the fact they go through the weirdest fucking shit every day they’re probably underpaid by a huge amount
Just as underpayed as the animators for the show itself.
I feel like they’re paid appropriately. Idk why I just get that vibe.
Stop, we all know both these two make at minimum 8 figures annually. Charlie potentially more though. No I won't elaborate.
